Splendid place, attentive and very pleasant welcome. The view is not to be missed
Simply GREAT, PORTOFINO, PANORAMI DREAM, ULIVETI, BAR CHARACTERISTIC, EVEN CARI, TRA Santa Margherita and Portofino, COASTAL BY GOD, CI I HAVE TO RETURN
Paradise place. Exceptional view. Refined, elegant hotel with a very attentive staff. Grand piano party! Thank you for the welcome and kindness.
It does not disappoint the expectations given magnificent service and very prepared staff. Congratulations
One of the most iconic hotels in Portofino, it allows guests to spend a stay in the village while maintaining high levels of quality. It is certainly not splendid
At the bar, on the marina with friends, in a late summer evening. Superlative aperitifs, served impeccably, in an atmosphere ..... perfect! We will be back.
Had a rest in the summer in Portofino, we wanted to stay in this hotel, but unfortunately all the rooms were occupied! Therefore, it was only possible to dine in a restaurant and see the hotel grounds with a gorgeous view !!! Only for an amazing view I put five
Currently closed for renovation, opening in the spring
Hotel has 2 sights.Stayed 4 nights.Property on hill-magnificent views and property but overpriced and attitude.
Easy elegance. Delightful fare, excellent service.great views!
One of the most sophisticated and genteel I've stayed at and I've stayed at a lot of 5 stars.
We had dinner over there yesterday, reservation are needed, the staff was very helpful, the grounds and view were beautiful, but the food was not as we expected, we travel allot and have experience fine cuisine but this was overrated; will definitely not repeat the experience.
Good hotel with a great view right on the water, but like all hotels in this little town a bit expensive.
Just around the corner is probably the smallest Louis Vuitton store in the world, definitely worth a visit.
Great hotel and nice piano bar with live events !!!
My husband and I were really looking forward to our stay at the Belmond Splendido Mare. We were checked in and escorted to our room. I immediately noticed a strong odor, but wanted to make sure I was not being overly sensitive to the smell before I mentioned something. As soon as my husband and I were alone in the room he mentioned the smell. We could only assume there was a dead animal in the air vent. My husband called the front desk and we were told when we left for dinner they would check the room but that they would not be able to move us until the next day if there was no resolution to the cause of the odor. Once we returned from dinner the front desk staff assured us the issue had been addressed. Unfortunately, as is typical with smells that strong, there was still an intense odor lingering in the air. I would say that the room really never smelled fresh throughout the entire stay but worse than the lingering smell was that there was not much of an apology regarding the issue. My rule of thumb and expectations for hospitality is that everyone is treated as a guest of the hotel. I understand that the amenities and access to certain offerings are only available to guests. With that said, there is a polite way to ensure that that is the case. At the Belmond however, it is clear that the assumption was that we were not guests. When I asked for clarity regarding the lunch by the pool, instead of sharing the details and then politely informing me that the lunch is available for guests only or gently confirming that I was, in fact, a guest, the woman at the front desk started the conversation with a harsh and judgmental It is for guests only. That attitude continued in every exchange we had with staff when accessing amenities or utilizing the facilities. I felt like it would have allowed for my husband and I to enjoy more relaxation if they would have given us a wristband like they do at Disney World to avoid the third degree from staff. A wristband would have been on the same level of elegance as the constant badgering. Outside of the grounds and the room I d also like to comment that the hotel does not have the polish of other five star properties. The pool cushions were dated and the decorative cushions around the property and on the dining chairs were not as clean as I would have expected. I did update the agent that we booked our travel with about the issues that we had run into. The agent reached out to the hotel on our behalf in hopes of improving the quality of our stay. The General Manager did reach out to inquire about any issues we were having. Maybe wrongly on my part I did not dive into the list of complaints. Let me explain that not doing so was prompted by the approach the General Manager took with me during the inquiry. I can assure you he did not seem open to hearing about the behavior that was so off putting and sounded extremely bothered to have made the call. Every time we came back to the hotel the front desk would say that the General Manager wanted to speak to us to make sure we were enjoying our stay. It honestly felt like we were getting in trouble and being summoned for the remainder of the trip. As you can imagine that was not enjoyable. The last thing I will mention about our stay is in regards to the inconsistency with the hotel policies. The second evening we stayed at the hotel we requested an iron and ironing board. The staff promptly brought us both. On the last day of our stay we were informed that it is not only against hotel policy but also against Italian law to allow guests an iron and ironing board. I am not nearly as appalled by the ridiculous policy as I was by the lack of consistency. I know many five star properties instead offer pressing guests clothes for a surcharge. But to not have that policy on the second day and then implement it on day four (and I could be reading more into this than is the case, but after we have had issues with our stay) was laughable.
This place is a classic. Really pretty in that antique kind of way, and the service is amazing. It is pricey, but they really come through in providing the amenities and service you'd want in a five star hotel. I'd like to deduct half a point for the weird smells around the common areas (they are noticeably bad), but since I can't, my review will remain at 5 stars. Luckily our room smelled fine!
Commitment and dedication. Always attentive to detail. Dinner with a panoramic view. An ever green location.
A worthy 5 star
Horrible service! I'm traveling a lot and I live in Europe. We had very bad service in this restaurant and even we asked manager to change the waiter, the service kept to be same - super bad, the were putting bad faces from the begging, unpatient and rude! Never gonna comeback to this restaurant and hotel.
How about greetings, what prices do you have or have packages to go on holidays greetings from Coahuila, Mexico.
"Children under 5 are not really welcome" and you will be refused access to the terrace in summer, for fear that the children will be too loud for the customers. The food is just good but nothing more ...
Note: the service is clearly not up to 5 stars. Very poor knowledge of wines.
Positive point: the magnificent view over the village of Portofino.
Incredible hotel. You can see why the rich and famous come here.
Beautiful Place in Portofino! View is 5 Stars Prices are very Over Powered! Been to many Places but this Place is over the Top and the Portions are not very Big. All in its a Special Place
Really overpriced. I don t mind paying a premium but this place is ridiculous. It has nice views. But the restaurant is stupidly expensive and the service was only so so. We had to ask to order drinks several times. The food was great but not 200 per person good.
Belmond Splendido Mare was an exceptional hotel. The location right in town couldn't have been more perfect. While the rooms were slightly smaller, they were very comfortable. The staff was very helpful, kind and enjoyable. If only I could go back for breakfast on the patio again! It was tremendous. We were not there long enough to enjoy the Belmond Hotel up on the mountain as much as we would have liked, but they did a great job of taking people back and forth on a regular basis. If you go to Portofino, I highly recommend the Belmond Splendido Mare.
Absolute world-class hotel, with a fantastic view of Porotfino
Food very expensive but you have to have done.
Restaurant is on top of a hill overlooking sea and harbour. Food is OK and service OK for the price. A little pricy, but the view is Great.
Very good & fresh food at the higher end of touristic price bracket
I was given five stars for the location excellent location in the center and the view was beautiful I did not live what I know about the rooms and service
5 full shiny stars in a full 6 stars location ! Portofino's best !
It would be a mistake to expect more luxury in this Demi classically decorated hotel but the priceless privilege of eating breakfast on the terrace with a 180 degree view of Portofino and eating against the Portofino coast is priceless. on the terrace overlooking Portofino and eating against the Portofino coast.
Oooh yes yes yes I love Italy :) I simply advise all of you to you ..... Happiness to you all and Big)
The location is beautiful, a good view of Portofino, but lower than the building of the same hotel Splendido, which is located on a hill. The rooms, even the suite, are small. Service is not bad.
Along the Ligurian sea is Genoa and a few other port cities from where you would embark if you were planning a trip to the islands of Corsica (France) or Sardinia (Italy). You can either walk on or drive a car onto the ferries. Sailing to Sardinia and Corsica is beautiful and it s very easy to arrange.
If you have the time, try to make a special trip to Portofino. Portofino is a picturesque seaside town south of Genoa that looks as if it were the set of a musical production. If you feel like splurging a little, stay at the luxurious Hotel Splendido.
In addition to their elegant main building above the town, there is another smaller building in the town on the water (the Splendido Mare). You should consider staying at the Splendido Mare with a village view. You will still have access to everything in the main building and it's totally worth it. If you are not planning to stay at the Spendido, consider having dinner at the restaurant in the Splendido Mare. Spend no more than two to three nights in Portofino as the town will begin to feel small.
Walking from the Splendido Mare, you can wander along the small harbor and see the very impressive yachts.
Immediately, next door to the Spendido Mare is Ristorante Puny which will require a reservation as will all the restaurants in the Splendido. Puny is a favorite among Italians; you might see many well-known public figures there. In general, actual Italians on holiday actually do visit Portofino. This is not the case for many places in Italy.
Portofino and the towns surrounding Genoa are known for their pesto, a sauce made from fresh basil, oil, and pine nuts. Eat all the pesto all the time.
Over rated and expensive restaurant in the harbour. Food is ok but not worth the prices they charge. If you are impressed by how much you spend rather than the actual quality of what you are eating then it is the place for you.
Hotel restaurant in the heart of Portofino, the class is not water
Superb hotel overlooking the harbour in Portofino. Location wise, it gives wonderful views, but it's quite a lot of steps to climb to if on foot.
The peroni and spritzer in the photo below (and the free snacks) came to 42...... Very expensive but what a wonderful place to enjoy a slow drink while gazing at the scenery.
The staff is very warm. However I found the rooms and premise quiet dated for my taste. You pay a good amount of money i expected a more fresh feel.
I stayed later in the elEight hotel Portofino across the street, paid less and was more happy with the hotel decor and amenities.
The big plus is that you are right in the centre of town. Also you can go by free shuttle to the Belmond sister hotel. Should go and enjoy the beautiful view from its terrace.
The 3 stars because you pay way beyond what you receive.
I delivered a carbon road bike rental at the Belmond s customer. Top quality accommodation, very professional crew. Suggested!!
Incredible views of Portofino bay define this storied hotel where some of the worlds most famous personalities used to live ...wander the halls and inhale the memories of Sophia Lauren, Dean Martin, Grace Kelley..have a fresh peach Bellini and look over the stunning bay and wander through the beautiful flower lined gardens and you almost forget how corrupt Italian taxi drivers are...
We only have amazing things to say about Belmond Splendido Mare. The services and the people that work there were simply amazing. The views, the hotel, the cleanliness, the beauty of this hotel is beyond amazing. We are so grateful for the services provided to us as we know that each person went above and beyond to make us comfortable. We cannot recommend this hotel enough and you are in for a treat.
It's Portofino .... it doesn't need to be explained!
Wonderful hotel. Great service both in the restaraunts and by the staff, terrific location with spectacular views.
