We went for the BBQ buffet dinner at the Riverside restaurant and had drinks at the Bamboo bar. The bar is beautiful, dark and cozy. The chairs are very comfortable, drinks where exquisitely prepared and served. We got fried okra as a free snack which was delicious. Pricing of the cocktails is of course high but well worth the money. There is every live jazz music at night (we went on a Friday). The BBQ buffet dinner was also very good, however the food was not as excellent as we thought. You mainly enjoy the beautiful view of the Riverside restaurant and very caring staff. The buffet is very diverse and offers a vide virarity of salads, Thai food, seafood, meat and desert. Even though some of the dishes where really good, some lacked in taste (e.g. the Thai food was not spicy) and some where disappointing (the beef). The taste of the buffet is catered toward an international audience and tries to fit everybody's taste, which is not a good quality at a pricy restaurant. All in all a recommended experience because of the view, the service and drinks. Do not expect a 5-star meal, though. Tip: check out the Sunday brunch at the Sukhothai Hotel Bangkok.

You can spend a leisurely and elegant time on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. French food is also very sophisticated and is recommended. When you leave the hotel, there are food stalls and you can also enjoy local meals.

Unfortunately we only had a small breakfast at the Oriental and stayed at the Lebua.
On our next visit to Bangkok, the Mandarin Oriental is our hotel of choice. These two hotels cannot be mentioned in the same breath. Neither from the clientele nor from the service.

The interior of the shop is contemporary Chinese style. Using red tones Feels like you're in an old Shanghai Tavern. The atmosphere inside the shop is a little dark. Because the shop uses orange tone lights
The hall in the middle is a space for the buffet line. Which we can walk and choose to scoop and eat as you like

Let's take a look at what to eat today

We stayed in the room with the view of Chaopraya river. The building was quite old but well maintenance. More classic old traditional style. Impressive flower decoration everywhere. (fresh flowers) Breakfast was fantastic. Service was very professional.
We had to get of their boat to cross Chaopraya river to exercise at their fitness center. It's very good though.
They provided you a shuttle boat to catch BTS train station. So it's quite convenient.

Elegant and beautiful hotel!

Elegant and beautiful hotel!

This is Bangkok!
The lobby of the masterpiece which will not have been to Bangkok if you do not come here!

It is especially good to see the "and someday" starring Miho Nakayama.

Service and food are great!

The hotel room was tiny, mind you my husband is 6 6 tall and it was like a doll house to him! Myself I was very disappointed and wanted my husband to prove to me that this was a 5 star hotel and not a 2 star! I wasn t sure if it was part of their culture but everything was dark and gloomy, a lot of dark brown and wooden stuff! The inroom service was good, the food was nice! The washing of clothes was cheap, so took advantage of that! The staff were very friendly! We booked a spa massage, we had to get a boat to get to the destination and the river was dirty, actually very dirty! The massage took place on the floor on a mattress, wasn t worth it! I didn t feel relaxed being on the floor! It wasn t lavish to my taste! Glad to have left!
