Great venue, very entertaining shows during comedy festival

Great performing arts space and function hall. They have a large outdoor courtyard that s shared with ACCA. It would be great to see a little more to do here besides the events (such as pop up galleries, free co-working spaces etc) when there s nothing much else on. The bar and cafe is pretty pricey but has a great selection of wine and cheese.

Can't get enough of this place. great plays in an intermate setting. great bar, book store and cafe too.

Beautiful space and perfect venue for relatively intimate performances.

Great staff to assist. Great outdoor food trucks to set the night with delicious food and wine.
Best Comedy Festival show with Hans the German

I came here about three months ago and now I've found I'm three months deep into my eighth pregnancy. Coincidence? I think not!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:(

Always good to visit for plays and it makes me feel like an adult going there.

Went to see Solaris at the Malthouse. First time for us and happy to say it won't be the last. The play was amazing! Fantastic acting, props, sound and video Hugo actually worked. The bar/cafe is great place to relax and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat before and after the play. The Malthouse is easy to get to from the city by tram or cab/ride share or even a brisk walk if you prefer.
Art, culture, entertainment, food, drink.... What more could you ask for?

The Social Service play-I visited the Malthouse last night and saw this play. This was in my view one of the worst I have attended. Save your money

Great view of stage from most seats, nice atmosphere pre/post show with bar outside.

The food and coffee is surprisingly VERY good! I thoroughly enjoyed the show I saw, however the seats were rather uncomfortable.

Great entertainment venue. Very relaxed and inviting. They have a fantastic wine list and menu too

Another smaller but versatile performance venue. Seen some killer shows here. Really nice conversion of the building.

I saw Bliss on Saturday and was very impressed with the performance and staging. All the actors were excellent. I've no idea why there were a couple of negative reviews, There were certainly not deserved.
I am very fussy about my theater and will walk out on productions that are not up to scratch but this production had me totally engaged.

A real Melbourne establishment that is not afraid to push the boundaries. Very eclectic shows catering to a wide range of tastes, something for everyone but not everything for everyone, which is perfect. They've got integrity here, plus a fantastic bar and restaurant.

It's about the theatre cafe.
I recently dropped in to have some coffee and when the server brought it to the table he spilled quite a bit. He did not apologize, offer to clean it up/bring napkins, or offer to top it off. He simply wandered off and acted as if nothing had happened.

Terrible customer service. I carelessly booked my theatre tickets on a different night and when I went to the box office it wasn't there. The manager did not give me any alternatives. She didn't even look at me in the eye. She was so engrossed looking at her computer and surfing the net. I later found out after complaining to upper management that she could have offered me the tickets at a discounted rate which I would be willing to do! The man who worked there was about to give me the options of a discounted price but the manager snapped his head off and so I was left with nothing! She either had a grudge on me or had a "bad" day at work. So unfortunately I was given her baggage and suffered! Never going there again!

Love the venue. Would be nice to see a fee more smiles from the team though.

Theatre with a bar in the ground floor. I saw the opera Goust, the stage direction was impressive and so were some of the singers but I expected more accurate musical performence

Great restaurant, comfortable FOH seating. Quality of performance was outstanding in a wonderful theatre!

Great theater! Love the international comedy festival!

Friendly staff. A pleasing ambiance of film students etc. Very fair prices in the bar. Shall be back.

Iconic Melbourne Arts precinct staple. Alw a us a great s how. Varied acts. A variety of tastes and genres. Great for a night out if you are feel u nd cultural. Worth keeping yourself on the mailing list to see what is coming up.

Food offering gets worse each time I visit. If a food truck parked out front it would do good business and you could close your current poor cafe.

The Cloudstreet Experience was amazing. The play was excellent. A really enjoyable five hour theatrical experience.

The show was great but the staff there were disappointing at the bar and especially the restaurant we had been there for a function and they were supposed to have nibbles and snacks afterwards because everyone had come straight from work that s how the function was organised
It s like they delayed and delayed the food deliberately 9.30 pm we left hungry and angry

Ideal for dinner and a drink before a show. The ambience is nice but a bit focussed on functionality, which is ok. Both, lamb and duck was overcooked though, likely precooked. It was ok but not great. You can swap your wine glass with a plastic one and take it to the show, which was great. The show was fantastic.

Great play but the quality of the red wine was fairly average.

bleak windswept and in the middle of nowhere. The front of house staff are some of most disorganised and apathetic workers. 3 weeks into comedy festival they still haven t got their act together.

These guys host the best and most interesting shows in Melbourne (written as a punter). Their education program is second to none (written as a VCE theatre teacher). The bar is great, good beer, pretty good food, normal bar prices. Don't go there if you're not seeing a show, though, or you'll get jealous (written as a barfly)

Great performing arts venue - beautiful building, nice cafe

Staff were amazing, i was late for a theatre performance and had the wrong ticket, the girl was very helpful in assisting me!! So friendly with a great Melbourne vibe that's polite and nice.

So nice to see creatives collaborating at the end of our really long isolation lockdown. There is hope yet.
