I'm a sushi connoisseur and this is the best place to get sushi. Spicy mexican is my favorite. The owners are awesome and the service is always amazing. I spent a good amount of time (and money) here back in my law school days. Hands down, the best sushi I have ever had! I miss this place!

Place has good prices, but that is where the true satisfaction ends. Its super Americanized to the point where the food doesn't quite taste right. They don't season the rice, and often times when ordering hot food it comes almost cold.

I just left this restaurant. I patiently waited to make a take out order. NO ONE ADDRESSED ME OR OFFERED TO SEAT ME. A couple entered after me and we're immediately offered seats. The couple politely pointed out that I was ahead of them and I had been waiting. The hostess ignored that and continued to offer them seating. Again, nothing was said to me. The man at the register was involved in a prolonged phone order. When that order was completed, he took another phone order. Again , saying nothing to me. I left the restaurant. Clearly, customer service and common courtesy is not their strong suit. Be aware.

Best sushi in the area! They re under new ownership since the pandemic but with the same great chefs. Friendly staff, amazing food, and a safe dining experience.

We ordered nigiri, some rolls, and a beef bibimbop. We also got complimentary cucumber salad and miso soup with our meal.

The fish is fresh and delicious. Salmon, tuna, yellowtail, mackerel, and ikura were all wonderful. Makimoto also has very unique and flavorful rolls. My favorite is the Raider roll loaded with avocado, salmon, shrimp, yellowtail, tuna, and topped with a spicy chili sauce and spicy mayo. So much flavor packed into that roll! Definitely a must try.

I honestly loved the sushi at this place at the fews times I was there... but lately they don't answer the phone, they're never open (I've called and been there several different times). If you're out of business at least have the decency of posting on Google and letting your costumers know!

Tried to sit down, came in a little bit before an hour from closing time. They were cleaning the floors with bleach. Who wants to smell chemicals while trying to enjoy dinner? It was honestly disgusting. There are people with respritory issues out there and even for those who don't have them its common courtesy to wait to clean the place until your guests are gone...don't think I will be giving them another try.

Good traditional sushi, tried multiple rolls, multiple times and the food has been very consistent & clean. Also tried the seaweed salad which was good as well. The service is good even though I ve only been there during peak hours.

Good price for the neighborhood. Fast wait staff, and plenty of them on the floor during high rush hours.
I ordered a variety of nigiri that arrived quickly, and was tasty.
I'll be back here for a satisfying lunch or dinner.

Food was average. Price was a little bit more than average.

I had a Korean Dish - bimbim bap. There was hardly any meat in it, that is perhaps the biggest complaint, plus it costs $1 extra to have an egg in it..

Aside from the food itself the service is rather subpar.

Very disappointed in the service. I thought with all of the positive reviews that my first experience would have been better. Customer's shouldn't be responsible for getting themselves utensils, napkins, or dishes for soy sauce, nor should they have to refill their own waters. Not once did our server stop to ask us how our food was, but we waited so long for our checks that we went to the hostess stand to get our own checks. The food was another disappointment, my dish was ordered with chicken however there was none in the bowl. After I flagged the waiter down to inform him, he took the bowl back and instead of remaking the dish, added chicken on top and brought it back. Very disappointed and will not be a repeat customer. There are far too many sushi restaurants in the area to waste time on this place.

The sashimi and nigiri are fantastic and fresh, all hand-crafted. There's a specialty roll out there for everyone with lots of variety. Beware the Salmon roll nigiri though. Delectable and silky smooth it may be, topped with GOLD to make you feel like royalty, it almost doubled the cost of eating for me and my friend that day.

Good preparation. Nice presentation. The food was fresh and good but somewhat bland especially when you consider they charge more than I would normally want to pay. My guess is with all the higher end jobs in the area, this is how they are able to do that. An extra star was removed, as the table plates were plastic. This is a big turnoff for me, and when you are paying $12 for some rolls, unacceptable. Overall not a bad place. The service was good and food ok. If you have the time and choice, go to Pudthai at Rochester and Auburn (the one in the little strip mall).

I am sure we would have loved it but the place was closed to hire new staff . We are from out of town and we re really looking forward to checking them out. Went to Spargo s instead and had great food/service.

The best Sushi I have had in ages! Was very pleasantly surprised.
The rolls were delicious, the rice is done so well, soft and spongy not cloggy and heavy.
Sashimi is order per piece, take note.
Will definitely be returning soon and will post pics and menu etc.

I came here for the first time for lunch and it was really busy, I was able to sit at the "Bar Area" right in front of the Sushi Chef. The wait staff were very nice and attentive to my needs. I knew exactly what I wanted to order Tempura Shrimp Roll and Miso Soup. The Miso Soup was delicious, not as salty as most would be, but just right and very flavorful too. The wait for my Sushi Roll was about 10+ minutes, which is not too bad since there were others there before me and it was a busy lunch hour. The Sushi Chef prepared my roll and handed it to me, I was a bit shocked to see how small the pieces were and it wasn't the right Tempura Shrimp that I'm used to ordering from other Sushi places, I thought maybe I ordered the wrong sushi roll, it had Fried shrimp, Rice, and Edamame (Sushi Wrap). That was it!! I guess each restaurant is different when it comes to preparing rolls. I will come back because it was a great experience, however I will definitely ask questions and study the Menu next time so I'll know what I'm getting and not feel like I was cheated out of my money.

The meal was delicious. The staff were very pleasant. It was competitively priced. The ambiance music was almost ethereal. They also had a wide variety of different rolls I'd never heard of before and they were delish!

Best sushi by far in the area! Their rolls are so creative and delicious. The only downfall of this place is that they used to serve alcoholic beverages but they got their liquor license revoked. They don't even let you BYOB. So I just do takeout.

Phenomenal food. Everything was superb. First time dining and definitely not the last! Highly recommend the makimoto roll. Nigiri was fresh and flavorful. Prices are great for what you get as well.

I remember when Makimoto opened a little over 10 years ago. It was, and still is in my opinion, the best sushi in southeast Michigan I have come across. Many of the big name places get rave reviews, but after trying many they don't hold a torch to the freshness and quality I experience here. The staff is always friendly and the owner Andy will gladly engage and even create something new to try if you ask. Though you shouldn't need to, as the options on the menu are plentiful and allow choices for every palate. Give it a try if you are in the area, and don't let the construction in the plaza deter you. This is one of the sushi gems in the area.

Best Sushi I have ever had. I do not say that lightly. The quality of the fish is top of the line. The rolls are a mix of the classics that you will see on every sushi menu, but there are also some very creative rolls. I love the all of the rolls that have fruit in them. Additionally, the rolls do not fall apart. The rice is always the right consistency- not dry, not too sticky, and always packed nicely. All around, I have yet to find a place that is this consistently good- it is a hidden gem.
