Very nice hotel and good facilities. We really enjoyed our weekend getaway. Arrival experience was...not as welcoming as one would expect. I had asked the agent if there were any rooms that were not connecting. She used that as an opportunity to upsell us to the club lounge, more or less implying if we didn't upgrade, then we would be in a connecting room. I asked twice and she said that was the only option available. We weren't convinced we needed the upgrade, so I said no thanks, just no connecting room. Again, we were told "she needs to check for one" but if we upgrade to the club level, then there would be one. She lowered the upgrade cost by 500 PHP and my fiance just decided to go with it. I understand upgrades are important, but I felt like it was a very hard sell on her end. Despite that, the room was lovely and we did enjoy the club access, I just don't appreciate the means to get there.
Breakfast in the restaurant was less desirable as an experience. It feels like a massive food court in there. Minimal staff to actually attend to your needs. The first morning, we had to wait 15 minutes for coffee and tea, after the hostess asked and another waiter asked our requests. None of the plates actually get cleared from the table. Tables around were all in disarray and stacked on top of each other - not quite the Shangri-La image I expected. The third day was considerably better as we were sat right across from the bussing station. Prompt service and clearing of plates in exchange for the sounds of dishes banging and cutlery dropping on the floor every few minutes.
The pool facilities are lovely, the staff are attentive. The fitness center is excellent.
Club lounge staff are all very friendly and we had a very smooth check out with them.

Felt like home, but no cooking :) The customer service was exceptional from all sections, from the moment I entered to when I left. I was treated at all times like a queen. Thank you to everyone.

There were a few issues during my stay unfortunate...

There were a few issues during my stay unfortunately so it wasn't the best experience. The first thing was that when I've checked in I was told that the swimming pool was closed because of the volcanic ashes but later on we found out that it was closed for maintenance. On Friday we've asked to go to the other hotel to visit the pool and the next day the swimming pool in our hotel was opened but we were never told which meant that we have missed the opportunity to enjoy the pool. We stayed 8 days in the hotel so not having a swimming pool during our entire stay was inconvenient especially because we were not informed of this before our arrival. The second issue was that on Monday night I've asked if it's possible to have breakfast before 6am on Tuesday and Wednesday because I needed to leave to work early. I was happily told in reception that a prepacked breakfast would wait for me at 6am to take with me which I found great especially because it would be complimentary as I wouldn't have breakfast at the hotel. At the check out the last day I was charged for both days in-room breakfast which is unacceptable. The receptionist said that the charge would be removed and I would receive an updated invoice by email which I never did even 40 hours after I've checked out. Not a happy customer :(

This Is far more than just a hotel. It has old-wor...

This Is far more than just a hotel. It has old-world style, with all the amenities, sure. It is surpassed however by the old world style service of a wonderful team, the likes of which I have never experienced elsewhere. Not only are they extremely efficient, but they seem to be your friends in no time at all. This is the finest example of how people can be an organisation's finest asset. Even if the hotel were half as nice but had this team, your occupancy rate would be very high. Thank you to every single member of staff out there caring for your guests the way you do.

I was dissapoointed that Makati Shangrila rooms need upgrade in terms of its physical condition now as a 5 star hotel. The towels and robes are old, the water was dirty and bed linens need replacement. Even the safe is old fashioned. We booked 3 rooms and the same conditions too.

As always Shangri La Makati was a choice I cannot regret for. Started from booking online followed by some phone call and till the end, when hotel car dropped me at airport, it seems every one at Shangri La Makati is trying it's best to provide excellent services and to sort out issues, if any.
1. Had some issues with my booking confirmation cz I don't use credit card. Here Sales representatives MR and then Iris helped me a lot on phone and frankly speaking it was there support which made this stay possible.
2. A warm welcome on arrival was more special when people actually recognize you. It looks as one is not at a new place and gives a homely feel.
3. Among all the staff who are very welcoming, Herald at Horizon and Mark at reception not only recognized me but also remember what I expect and what I need. Herald knew that he has to arrange Halal food for me at Horizon and Mark remember that at end of day I need to get my bp monitored at clinic.
4. Chan at clinic is very friendly and cooperative.
5. After every stay I have a new name to admire for. "May" at Horizon club is from this trip. She was very cooperative and friendly. I really liked her hospitality.
6. House Keeping people were superb.
7. People at Circles always make your breakfast a special one.
8. I must mention that driver who dropped me at airport was very well mannered and good. Unfortunately I forgot his name but hope to travel with him again on some next trip.
9. Mentioning some names does not mean that other staff at Shangri La showed less hospitality but it is mainly because I forgot the names.
I did mention it to some one that people at Shangri La Makati creates the difference and gives it an extra edge over at least one nearby property where I once stayed. Unable to claim the same about other hotels in vicinity because Shangri La Makati and it's people's hospitality don't let me experience any other place.
Stay blessed and hope to keep this relationship as it is.

The best hotel that I've stayed in. The staff are very courteous. The service is impeccable. Puts many other five star hotels to shame. The Peninsula across the street is not as good as this Shangri-La.

The place smelled very nice the moment I stepped in the hotel lobby. Overall, I felt like the hotel is somehow worn out (eg. Carpets, fixture, etc.)
I attended a conference in the Rizal ballroom and you can see that the chandeliers and the mirrors are dirty. I would expect a much cleaner hall because Shangrila is known for it's class and hospitality.
Food was also meh, I can say I've had better in other hotels in the Philippines.

There was a time when Shangri-La Makati is all the rage and the place to be. It's still a good hotel but it's becoming very old and is being eclipsed by new and modern hotels (like its sister - the new Shangri-La in BGC). The interiors are becoming outdated and the lobby - once very grand and opulent - is now becoming old.

What I Love

- The Food! You can never go wrong with Shangri-La's dishes. Their breakfast buffet is filled with delicious food and Shang Palace is still one of the best dimsum places in Manila. Their spread during events are also good. The dinner buffet is just so-so though.

- The function rooms and Rizal Ballroom are still nice and elegant and can fill-in hundreds of people. I always love attending events in Shang.

- The Fitness Center and Spa are fabulous. They are open 24 hours and have complete machines and facilities,

What I Don't Love

- The rooms can use some renovation and redecorating. They are very outdated and even the bathroom is just so-so. They are still very clean though.

I'd still recommend Shangri-La but I would personally go to other hotels with a more modern feel like Raffles/Fairmont or even The Penninsula.

the service at breakfast felt lacklustre; missing cutlery, hot drinks took a very, very long time to arrive (after about 3 follow-up), food looked uninteresting, all sausages were just hotdogs with different names.

Hi Makati Shangri-La team,

I would like to give 5 star to one of your staff our room attendant on that day name James who looked after our room 925 during our stay 20/09/19.

he was very attentive and accommodating, he makes sure that we have everything we needed in our room, keep asking if we are okay and if we need anything don't be hesitant to ask him, he is very friendly and who knows exactly to make your client very happy.

I gave you 4star for the reason we have tried our breakfast downstairs instead on the horizon club, to my disappointment some of your staff are not that welcoming, I would not mention her name but you can see on her face that when we ask for a different table instead of the table she wants to seat you make face.

overall our stay was satisfying and we will definitely stay again in the future.

Excellent staff and amenities. The hotel carries international restaurants and offers outstanding service. The rates are good and the place is very clean and very accessible to almost anything you could think of. Very high class and the place exudes luxury.

It's always a pleasure staying at the Shangri-la. Staff members are very courteous and accommodating, room service is prompt, my room is always kept nice and clean, and the amenities are excellent! Whether on business or vacation, it's always worth the stay.

The stay was excellent, the desire to service my room was a little over the top. I had kept my "do not disturb" on, and provided hours where my room could be cleaned (as I was working nights), but I still received multiple calls during my stay inquiring about servicing the room.

From checking-in to checking-out, everything was a breeze. I had visitors from the US and they thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Everyone was extremely helpful and this is the best service have received at any hotel chain.

Very satisfied with the Makati Shang. This hotel has been around for many years and yet it doesn't feel old.

Security is good as you need to flash your hotel card key at the elevator sensor before the lift takes you to your floor.

Rooms are plush and carpeted with room for you to relax, stretch out or do some work.

I liked the bathroom set-up of my room. It had a separate shower and a bathtub. But it's still in one room so only one person at a time can use it unless you are intimate with each other.

Amenities are complete - TV, toiletries, bathrobes, ref, complimentary fruit and water.

Our hotel stay came with breakfast at Circles which had a sumptuous buffet ready for our hungry tummies! If you are on a diet, fear not, their buffet is complete. If you want protein only you will find great fish, beef and chicken options. If you love carbs, they've got a table dedicated to different breads. If you like sweets, they have a dessert table that will satisfy your sweet tooth. For the breakfast buffet alone, your stay will be worth it!

As for the hotel itself, it is a beautiful venue with airy interiors and subtle luxury everywhere you go.

And even better is the second you step out of the hotel there are seven or eight sprawling malls for the shopper and foodie in you to explore!

From the time I arrived to the moment I left, your team made my wife and I feel very welcome. It was impressive.

Your AM shift that worked in the Horizon Club from 8/18 to 8/24 were superb and made my experience at your facility a memorable one. They recognized us from the 1st to the last day and always had a level of professionalism and a desire to provide the best service they could at that moment in time. Their names were Raymond, Anne, Rafael, Oliver, Paul and Harold. Awesome team.

I can't forget our bell desk person who took our bags down from our room on the day of departure. What a nice and helpful person. Jaime was his name.

The carpet in the room need to be replaced. It's old already.
The staff are superbly trained. Despite the holiday peak, fully booked rooms, fully booked restos, and so many people everywhere they remained calm, attentive, prompt, and smiling. Kudos to the training team, staff and managers for making sure the team remains like this at all times.
At 3pm there were no food left in the horizon club except for soft drinks, and a few pitchers of juice. However, one of the staff was able to give 2 pieces of cream puffs (not sure if that's the name) and nuts for my toddler. It's a relief.
I understand the situation because of the christmas peak...and because it's christmas it's not a big deal. There are other things to be grateful for.

We stayed in the hotel for the 2 days Abbott Activity. The check in was easy breezy. The hotel interior is classic and clean. All staff were friendly and helpful. With just one lil' flaw--although we instructed the staff at the front desk that we need a packed breakfast to be picked up at 430 am...upon checking out the packed breakfast is still not available..although they made their best to make it up for the mistake. The place is located at the heart of Makati just a walking distance from the malls so everything is conveniently located.

I booked the "Deluxe Suite" room.
When i come to the front desk for check-in i was told that the room that i'm going to get it's not 1 big place and if i wan't i can add 24000php to get the real big suite (that's without i asked something), the feeling was that she know i'm going to be disappointed.
The room was nice (no more), its big area, but i don't understand for what all this walls in room for 2 people only! not better to have 1 big place?! (the room by the web 74 sqm.
In the second day of my staying i went out the room and one employee that clean the next room asked me why i put "pls do not disturb"? i told him that i don't need clean-up because everything its fix, i only asked 2 table of waters. when i open back the door to put the water i looked back and notice that the employee standing in the room checking things. he told me "i see that you get coke zero, i must to report on that" i felt as a criminal that try to hide something. i told him "you can report and pls close the door after that, i must to leave now". when i come back to the room, i found that he didn't left as i asked, he get to the shower and fix things. maybe he mean good, but that's my privacy and i see this act as rude! what if i have expensive things that i left?!
I decided to leave the hotel 1 night before and to give up on the money.

About the place - the hotel is beautiful and big, the location is great and near to malls.
The breakfast is wonderful, i have no words, one of the best in Manila, a lot of choices.

Good word and thanks for the lady from the front desk in check-out (unfortunately i don't remember the name) she was very professional, kind and give me all the details of the charges.

too bad that unprofessional can make so uncomfortable feeling!
