My mother got into the ER with stroke symptons and it was not a good experience. I was very frustrated with their service. The attending doctor ordered MRI/MRA and bunch of other tests for my mom but no one told us what was going on. I have to keep asking what was wrong and no one can give me a straight answer. One doctor told me to talk to another team "Stroke team" and no one from that team was available to talk to me. Then I asked where is the attending nurse and that nurse never stopped by to check on my mom. Then i was referred to talk to the purple team and some one from that team was very unprofessional. He had an attitude to call the attending doctor. He said that i needed to talk to the attending nurse and gave me a name so when I asked him he said he could not help and I needed to look for myself. Unbelievable service. My mom needed an clearance from the doctor before she can eat and she has not eat since 6am. The doctor has placed the clearance and order food for my mom an hour ago but the nurse didn't delivered the meal until I have to check. The overall service in the ER was just frustrated and we waited 5 hours to finally get an inpatient room. I would advise if you have a choice, do not go there for ER service.

I had a scheduled surgery. Bottom of gurney in prep room was dusty. Every worker I dealt with was a pleasure. When I was in room my nurse, Paul was great. It wasn't his regular floor. I was lucky to have him. And I had to drive him nuts. He had to get another worker to help him with something, which is why I gave three stars. This person, whose name I wish I had was so rough he actually ripped my skin off my arm. I kept saying he was hurting me, but he didn't care. If I had his name I would of gone to his superior. Every other person I dealt with were helpful and pleasant. Thumbs up to Paul and his blue glasses.
Waiting two hours and no doctor came to talk to me. A random nurse came up to give me an IV, even though no one instructed her to. When I questioned why I needed an IV, she claimed the doctor spoke with me.
After 1.5 hours waiting, I asked a nurse where to get a drink of water. Her response was that the drinking foutain was broken, but I could just drink out of the faucet where they wash their hands.
Do not go to this place unless you don't care about your health.
Dr Sherwinter, Elana and Julie took great care of me super professional and knowledgeable. My nurses Lorelie and Christina were absolute angels and post op care exceeded expectations.
This review is specific to my labor and delivery. I have had no other experiences in this hospital.
At this time the hospital is going through some upgrades it seems, but the labor and delivery area definitely needs a bit of love but it s nice enough. Through my labor all of the nurses I interacted with were really fabulous. I interacted with two anesthesiologists during my labor as well who were great. While I had a really long and tough labor, everyone was actually great. I was treated with respect and courtesy.
Transitioning to the recovery is where it all fell apart. Like in L&D, the nurses were really wonderful from what I experienced. Warm, extremely knowledgeable, caring. I don t think I can say enough positive things about the nursing staff. The issue I have is with the pediatric team. My daughter ended up losing more than the permissible weight for discharge, which I didn t learn until I was about to be discharged, the pediatric team gave no real reasons why it was so concerning (she was a big baby and her weight was fully stabilized), but wanted to follow the book. So we stayed an extra night. The next day the rules changed, she had to meet some additional criteria to get out, I saw three med students - one of which actually told me to keep feeding her as much as possible as the worst that can happen is she vomits (I said this to a nurse after and she was horrified, as feeding a new born to vomiting is dangerous for obvious reasons). The main pediatrician came by later in the morning and gave me mixed information about if we could leave later that day (like 11pm like a different baby did). I waited all day for her to come back to check up on the baby (like if we are such a concern why isn t she speaking to us, or does she need to test for some mystery illnesses?) and I had to be discharged as there was no medical reason to keep me. She left for the day without coming - even though I had been asking for her. Naturally I didn t want to leave my newborn (even though the nurses are amazing, as a new mother this just wasn t an option for me) and I was able to keep my room with the help of the patient advocate but I ll be paying for it out of pocket.
What has been the most frustrating is the lack of communication and disregard for the stress that this is causing not just me, but my whole extended family. It seems like the pediatrician isn t actually reviewing the baby but is just looking at a checklist and squeezing money from us. No additional tests have been done, she s actually been ready for discharge on the day she was supposed to but just waiting DRs permission. All I want is to take my baby home and these doctors have made the experience absolutely horrible. After my labor and delivery I was definitely thinking I would come back her to deliver again, but now I will absolutely avoid it - I am changing my practitioner (who I love, so I m very sad) so I wouldn t have to deliver here again. You can t avoid interacting with this team if you deliver here so do keep that in mind.
The other thing to note is that this is supposed to be a breastfeeding hospital, but they offer very little actual support for it. They pushed formula as a solution to everything, when I was faced with going home they told me they would formula feed - there is no plan for a new mother staying somewhere (like a lounge) when her baby needs to stay so she can breastfeed. Like all of that would be okay for a hospital that isn t showing how proud it is that it completely supports breastfeeding - it feels like a total facade.
Only hospital that decent to go to. Although the staff and doctors play games and favoritism to a certain group of individuals ( ) should treat everyone with more Fairless.
Been in the emegency room for 24 hours always gotta be lookin for the nurse for pain meds gotta be climb over other people strecther in order to go to the bathroom. Told me i needed to be admited at 10 am and its 2 pm and they just tell me soon worst hospital there is would rather pass out and take a ride into long island then to come back to this freaken hospital
Avoid this hospital at all costs you will be fighting to see a doctor and the nurses act like they are doing you a favor with attitudes overall this hospital sucks
We had a very positive experience with Maimonides Medical Center this past Summer when my husband was admitted through the Emergency Room due to a subdural hematoma which required neurosurgery.
My husband was seen quickly and every staff member with whom we had contact stated his or her name and department, what he or she was going to do and then accomplished the task.
We entered the ER around noon and he entered the surgical suite at around 4 PM.
The surgeon was clear about the diagnosis, surgical plan and later, the prognosis.
The care he received in Intensive Care and in his brief stay on the Neurology floor was excellent.
Filthy!!! I can believe a medical facility can be this unsanitary (rat poison, blood stains in bathroom (even hours after I complained about it) People unattended for hours one next to the other !!! All staff rude and very disrespectful.
The best hospital in Brooklyn, there I attended and from the beginning until they made me cecaria, it was all good and they treated me with a lot of love ... now I am in a stroke again and I am attending there, and it is a love.
Very inconsiderate group of individuals (the ones I interacted with)!! I was unable to make their 3:30 appointment due to a NEW job (i am unable to get time off) and I required a later time (which they had available), only, later times are reserved for current patients. They were unable to make an exception. I bet if I was somebody they knew personally or if their family member was in my predicament then the results would have been different. Do unto others as you'd have them do unto you!
The staff is slow. Waited for over 4 hours for my son to be seen regarding a dislocated finger. They dont give updates. The worst hospital I have ever been to. Worst hospital experience ever!!!!!
This hospital is sucks ! If I can give I would like to give no star at all. All the stuff are so lazy and nobody would like to help, no matter what you ask, they are more likely just trying to get rid of you . Horrible wait time and horrible service! Everything just so mess up!! Stop coming to this disgusting place for medical treatment!! Stay away !!!
The most unprofessional hospital .waiting time 7-8 hours for taking blood and urine test .and after blood test youe hand black and blue for weeks .Stay a way from this hospital
I am giving a good review primarily because of one doctor, Dr. Rodrigo Diaz-Siso. After my surgery I was supposed to walk around but was in too much pain to even attempt doing so. Dr. Diaz was so patient and kind and took the time to not only encourage me, but to walk around the hospital with me and distract me with conversation. I m sure he had much better things to do but he acted like that was exactly where he needed to be. I cannot stress enough what a difference his kindness made when I was feeling so defeated and down.
Overall, my hospital experience wasn t terrible. Some of the nurses were inconsiderate and inpatient (when I told one nurse I was in allot of pain, his response was well, you just had surgery, what do you expect?!? ) but other nurses were patient and kind. Nurses response time wasn t great. Food is terrible. Surgery seems to have gone well and that s really most important. When checking into the emergency room I had to stand in line even though I was on the verge of passing out and told that to staff.
i went their for back surgery, had to stay overnight. while my stay a social worker or supervisor of the floor walked in the room i was staying in gave me a very cold smile which I found very odd because she didn't do that to the other patient that was in the room with me, before I knew less than three minutes later she's looking on the computer (never mind the computer is facing my room) she advertised that i was taking Wellbutrin and started humiliating me to the entire staff about this and said I was emotionally challenged which was a violation of my privacy right there! if it wasn't for one of the nurses sticking up for me I would've let that cold-hearted witch have it. emotionally challenged?? gee I never knew that about myself.. i called the telephone number of the complaint departments and was told they only take complaints in writing then why put a phone number on the patients rights form when you enter the hospital?? I have been in numerous hospitals for pass back surgeries maimonies is by far the worst hospital I've ever been to. if you ever stay in this hospital take a pair of earplugs with you because it's also a very noisy hospital and hard to sleep at night stay away from this place.
The cardio Unit is phenomenal, they have the best nurses and the chief cardio surgeon is world renown Dr. Jacobowitz , thanks for saving my dad's life Dr. Jacobowitz.
My dear friend has been suffering psychological problems for months, she has promised that she's going to commit suicide. Instead of putting her on a 72 hour Psych hold, (as required by NY State Law) after she was brought to them in handcuffs, these dumb asses let her go. This place should be SHUT DOWN!
My experience as a first time patient at Maimonides Medical Center was very horrible....besides the lackadaisical, do not care attitude I received by the medical staff from the moment I entered the building to deliver my baby to the moment I got discharged was nerve recking and ugly...I will never return to this hospital for services or recommend anyone....hmmmmm
I didn t expect we received such a bad service in this big medical centre which states it is one the the top 10 hospitals in the US. The doctors are pretty good, but the nurses who are working at 6th Floor during daytime in Gellman Pavilion are horrible. They are so lazy, impatient, irresponsible, rude and disrespectful, especially Nurses who named Nina and Vanessa. They don t wanna do their jobs, just wanna sit there doing nothing or talking to each other. I don t know why they re still not getting fired. If my mom isn t going to have a surgery here tomorrow, I don t really wanna stay here. It s horrible. Even though the doctors are pretty good here, I don t wanna recomment my friends to come over here.
If I had the option for no stars I would have done it . Very bad experience, neglecting staff, horrible waiting time. Doctors don t communicate and doesn t not remember patient s symptoms. We had to wait for CT results to be read and finalized for 10 hours because they said they have one radiologist only who comes to work at 9:00am while CT was performed at 3:00am . Very disappointing medical care.
Discharging today after my total knee replacement Had outstanding sevice Doctors nurses social workers PCTs so wonderful so caring gentle available at any time Thank you very much to such an amazing team
I went to the ER with pain in my lungs and not being able to lay down. Turns out I had a pulmonary embolism and fluid in my lungs. ER staff were fantastic, treated me well and were knowledgable.
I was later transfered to ICU for almost a week. The staff there were also very good, encouraging me to build strength, keeping me informed about my condition. The drs were great and so were the nurses and PTCs. I felt cared for and in competent hands.
There was some snafu with my clothes and while every moment wasn't great (there were a few times I wasn't content) you have to remember that staff get busy and hosptials are run by humans, who aren't perfect. I would say overall my stay was a good one. I left with follow up appointments and a clear plan to stay on the road to recovery. I would recommend Mamonides hospital without hestitation.
Not a good experience for my daughter, she is in labor and there is no room available for her to be examining. We are here from about 1pm,pregnant mothers are coming in and is waiting over two hours to be seeing because there is no available rooms.
I wish I could give star in minus. All the staff was super rude and disrespectful. I would share just few. My mom was admitted to cardiology. All they have are interen sitting there from India. In order to do experiment they did unnecessary angiography when she had it done just 3 days ago from Mount sinai hospital. Tranporter threw my 75 years old mother from one bed to another like a pillow. She went at least 6 inches above and then down. After they transported her back from angiography. Nurse Toby yelled over me after I requested her to check my mom's blood sugar level as she was feeling bad. After they discharged us we waited more than 2 hours just for a basic wheel chair to go to the street. I beg you to please go to any other hospital and don't go here. It's now two weeks but I still can't get those incident from my mind. They treat a sick person like a butcher. Please ' please try some other places.
Horrible experience. Stroke patient waiting over 24hrs in ER to be transferred to 8 bed stroke unit with no updates or eta. Avoid this hospital at all costs.
I am sitting now in the stroke center in Maimonides hospital and i can't hold my self back to write that I am very very happy with there service since from i came in they serviced me so nice i am vary thankful to "GOD" that they are such people on his world and he picked out this people to help others because they are special GOD should blessed them with everything they need and they should be able to help others all there lifes and not others should have to help them.
It's in need of some renovation. The staff is overworked and sometimes can be difficult to communicate with. Maybe management needs to address some of the issues in the hospital.
Very poor service, 9 out of 10 nurses have a very poor service attitude. The needles that the nurse helped me to cut were all terribly scary. Without saying apology, I also said that the patient was as painful as BB. It was a terrible nurse.
If you can avoid ending up in this hospital, DO! Lazy, incompetent, rude staff. Overcrowded. Billing department keeps sending bills after all insurance information has already been submitted. Everything about this hospital was frustrating.
Nightmare!! My sister passed away 3/8 due to a bothed up heart surgery at this Hospital. After 1 1/2 weeks my sister feet started turning colors. Her doctor couldn't tell us why this was happening. We feel he didn't take proper precautions to prevent gangrene from occurring. As time went on she had to get 1 feet amputated on one leg and her toes on the the other leg. She suffered severely before she passed. I would never recommend this Hospital or surgeron. They only cared about the money and not the patient DEVASTATED !!!
This Navigation was excellent! It can be perfected. I have used and tested other navigation systems before. Compare to Google NAV it is Better! Google NAV A+... It navigates straight to the destination. The shortest way possible, others never take me that way before. Great! The Hospital Care was a one day stay for my mom. It was OK! She's OK! No complaints...
I am very unsatisfied from this service. I and my friend had set-up an appointment for monogram. We left our job early to get on time. I was hoping to do sonogram also. The medical center did just monogram. My friend refused to do monogram because they refused to give results. I decided to do the monogram. I signed the paper. I changed my clothes. When I went to do the monogram the medical provider told me that your name is different. She told me to get ID in the mean time I was undressed. I refused to do the monogram because the service was unprofessional. I gave one star because the center was cleaned. But I don't suggest this service to no one.
We took my grandmother to the Maimonedes ER after she had a ministroke. The staff performed the necessary scans (X-Ray, CT, MRI, EEG) and placed a feeding tube, with our permission, through her nose into her stomach to administer medications and food. A speech therapist was supposed to perform a swallow test to see if my grandma was able to swallow on her own before we removed the feeding tube. Three times they declined to perform the test on my grandma and kept advising to put in a gastric feeding tube - a tube inserted into the stomach through the abdomen. Not only did they not bother performing the swallow test, they also failed to discuss any complications of the gastric tube procedure, a conversation especially necessary bc my grandma is diabetic. We refused the gastric tube. My grandma is now at home, eating and drinking just fine. If you or a loved one end up admitted into that hospital know that it's your right to refuse procedures. Don't remain there longer than absolutely necessary. The only reason the hospital is getting 2 stars is bc the radiology techs and nurses were polite.
Their ambulance ran me off the rode while I was skateboarding and then blared the siren in my face, for no reason. There wasn't an emergency and the light was red.
this is worst hospital over the world. the staff who work in the x ray room never have patience for the patients. they were rude and rush! don't think about they will give you any smile. don't try to ask them way, they will argue with you! never saw a hospital have staff horrible like them! if i have choice, i will never go to there again!
This hospital is awful especially it's employees in the maternity accepting department. They are rude and are of little help. The operator is even worse. They lost my newborns birth certificate twice, and I had to pay to retrieve it elsewhere when birth certificates are free. They are irresponsible and unsympathetic. I will never donate another dime to this circus. I would rather die than to go to this hospital for treatment. This hospital hires people who just want a paycheck. They are not committed and are very unprofessional.
It's incredible how dystopian this place is. People screaming in pain in the ER and don't get any help. Nobody ever knows anything. Nurses are nice, but that's as far as it goes. They just tell you what you want to hear and never the truth.
I came December 16th, 2019 and they were absolutely great. Doctor Morell is absolutely amazing. Overall the hospital is awesome the nurses and doctors are really nice and welcoming.
This hospital is the worst hospital in the United States it looks like a third world country medical clinic they will leave you hanging in the middle of the emergency room for 8/10 hours before even looking at you, they the will come give a long speach with a ton of excuses, if you need any test whatsoever you re in bad luck you can literally wait 12/16 hours before you ll get anything done
grandparent went to the ER but was unable to speak english. uncle went with grandparent but was unable to speak english too. the only time interpreter was available was in the ER. once admitted, interpreter was not available and was unable ti get ine to communicate with the doctor/nurse. i (grandson) requested status from the nurse but was turned away even though i was the only one who spoke english and was the patient's relative. very disappointed and wish NY has beth israel like MA.
Absolutely amazing treatment. From the moment we walked in- from the intake person, the Doctors, nurses, custodians and security guards- everyone was super professional, attentive and empathetic. I felt so taken care of myself and watched how intentionally they interacted and took care of every person in there. This is a well organized ER and almost doesn t feel like an ER - the staff are all super cool and positive and, the atmosphere has really positive energy and even lightness! although of course this is a place where people are dealing with real moments in life- we watched people walk out feeling peaceful.
The list is endless for the problems that come from Maimonides. From the moment you first call, the operator does not transfer your phone call to the right floor, you cannot get through to any social worker, and the voice mailbox is always full. The Patient Relations Department fails to do the single job it is tasked with doing: dealing with the problems of patients and their families. They take your phone number, promising you they will return your call, yet they never call back nor resolve the issue. The doctors act unprofessionally and unethically as they discharge a mentally unstable patient with acute illness without the slightest concern for how unsafe the patient could be at home. The patient pulled out her own IV, refused to take any medications, and exhibited signs of aggression, and yet the medical personnel did not follow the proper protocol in treating the patient. I would not ever wish on anybody the mayhem we experienced at this hospital. I wonder if the Joint Commission or the New York State Department of Health ever visited Maimonides.
The worst hospital in NYC ever, Only one doctor for whole emergency room and he just graduated by 0 experience. Moreover, after 8 hours they told me I have to wait until morning to see another doctor. There's no one cares.
Staff Specially Nurses on duty they don t lisen to you on K5 Floor Patients keep ringing the bell nurses don t bother To answer I see patients walking around to get help but no staff available ! Bathroom very Dirty ! Room Smell very Bad ! Unprofessional Staff! Very Rude Attitude towards patients please avoid this place Hardly you get a chance ta see a doctor on duty Even Nurses use pager to page them they don t Reply I don t understand their system Very bad Experience I m having here
I read a lot of bad experiences story about this hospital. But still administration haven't taken care of it. I came here with my wife and it took us 3 hours to talk to the doctor.
THE RADIOLOGY DEPT. IS THE WORST I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. THERE IS NO NEED FOR APPTS. AT ALL YOUR TAKEN QHENEVER VERY UNORGANIZED. THERE SHOULD BE SOME SORT OF CONSIDERATION FOR PATIENTS ESPECIALLY ELDERLY & THE VERY SICK. EMERGENCIES HAPPEN BUT EVERY SINGLE DAY COME ON 3 TO 4 HOUR WAIT EASY ALL THE TIME. IM SO FRUSTRATED WITH THE LACK OF CONCERN OR IMPROVEMENT SINCE LAST YEAR. THIS DEPT HAS TO REMEMBER THAT ITSIMPORTANT TO MAKE A SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN CARE
I discorage anyone who care about his own safety to go to this horrible hospital. Since you get there, to the ER from the actual hospitalization, you will be in your worst nightmare. Because there are no one that really care for you, all staff is incompetent, careless and have no humanity what so ever. My son died in this horrible hospital, the only thing that they were able to do was, truncate his life. I really regret that I let those "doctors" put their and on my son, and unfortunately I cannot go back to do different. But, for any one alse that need hospital care I recommend to stay away from Maimonides Hospital if you want to save your life.
Horrible, horrible, and more horrible place to get the proper care. I recently went to the ER due to bleeding while being 5weeks pregnant. From 2pm-9pm I waited for a specialist to give a final word about my unborn baby bc two "doctors" could not real my ultrasound correctly. I needed to make a follow up appt which is tomorrow where I was on the phone for almost 6 hours to found out which dept to go to( L&D or the clinic). I spoke to. RUDE supervisor who told me that if I go to the clinic due to my diagnosis, I will be turned away. Call back my doctor who examined me yesterday who told me that I was supposed to go to the clinic in the morning. After this appt., I will not be coming back here ever again. No respect for anyone who needs care!!!!
If you want to die quickly then it's probably a good place to go. My father was admitted twice to this hospital. Initially he was diagnosed with non-bleeding ulcers. This diagnosis didn't explain low red blood cell count. He used to work as a doctor himself for 41 years. So he begged them to do additional testing to find out what's causing anemia. The only answer he's got was that he's just too old. Some time later he was admitted again. Because extreme pain in his spine they finally did cat-scan and found multiple myeloma. The he was plainly refused to be treated just because doctors thought he was too old and didn't make it anyway. They simply told us he's 83 so just let him die. I still can't recover from this shock. When we asked to move him to another hospital they told us he will not survive this transfer. And it looked like that they only tried to maintain him, but do not really treat him. I do believe that there shouldn't be any age discrimination for a treatment. By being completely incompetent, heartless, soulless and amoral creatures this medical personnel really does bias drive U.S. longetivity stats down to a level comparable with third world. The same goes for a rating of the hospital that was known for a second successfull heart transplant, back in 1967.
