Maid of the "downpour" is more like it - which is one of the trip's attractions. Be sure to protect your camera/phone, and get ready for the water and the awesome views... and don't forget to reserve time to walk on the park and take wonderful pics

It was nice. Very beautiful sight. Didnt get too terribly wet on the lower half of the boat, by choice. Line moved fast but a bit pricey for 15 minutes on the boat. Worst part was stuffing 16 people on a five man elevator (only about 10 sec) to go down to the boat. Best part was getting close enough to the falls to feel the mist. Amazing views of both American and Canadian falls. All in all, a must do.

Really great experience and a surprisingly smooth process. We went on a Thursday afternoon on August at around 1030am and did have to wait some for the Maid of Mist boat tour. When we were finished and walking out at around 1145am there literally no wait. Either way it's worth it.

Awesome experience all around. Purchasing tickets was easy. The staff was incredible. The process to board and exit was very smooth and organized. They were very safety conscious. The narration during the tour was perfect.....not blabbing the whole time...but appropriately informative. Great photo opportunities during the whole tour. Had a blast. Thanks!

Maid of the mist is the way to see Niagara falls at its best. But, go only if you want to be peeping out trying to get a hint of the falls or a pic maybe. It is so overcrowded that only the people surrounded at the edge can see whats going on and they will not move from their spot so unless you are first in the line where you get to chose your position, its worthless!

Fantastic view of the falls! They give you ponchos to keep somewhat dry. Stay on the left side of the boat for the best views and picture opportunities. Very informative. Well worth the money. Highly recommend

Boat ride was great. Second time I have done it with family. Today was not Wonderful though elevators broke after you boat ride and we stood in hot sun for 2hours while then fixed elevators. Not good! I'd go again but a week day for sure.

If you go all the way to the falls and don't spend the 20 bucks for this, you are either flat broke (which is okay) or a scrooge (which isn't). This boat tour will be the main thing you remember about the falls.

Totally cool. Had been to the falls many times as a kid but was always just passing through and didn't do the maid of the mist. For perspective Ive been through a lot of backcountry all over the US and have seen a lot of the natural wonders this land has to offer, didn't expect to be blown away by what I saw as a tourist trap. Seeing the falls from the bottom is something special. Put it on your list if you're ever nearby. Get tickets ahead of time if you can because it's often sold out day of.

Lots and lots of people, but the lines were moving at a decent rate. It's about a 15 minute boat ride to the falls and back. The falls were beautiful. You get a pancho, and how wet you get depends on where you're at on the boat. We were on the bottom and got a comfortable amount of mist. The people coming from the top looked pretty drenched. The staff of the Maid of the Mist were helpful and friendly.

A must if you are visiting Niagra Falls - you can feel the force of the falls when you're on the boat and be prepared to get wet! (you'll be supplied with a lovely blue poncho to keep you dry though). A fantastic experience and a great way to see Niagra Falls in its full glory.

If visiting Niagara you must go on the maid of the mist!! Price isn't bad & totally worth the boat ride to the falls. You do get a little bit wet but they supply a keepsake poncho for you to put on.

Great experience! This is a must see while visiting! I had such a great time!
While there were social distancing guidelines in place while standing in line, there was NOT on the boat or in the elevator, which I thought was funny.

Will 100% come here again tho!

The boat ride was great and the falls made up for some of the extremely rude employees but I wanted to share my experience.
We were part of a tour on a Sunday evening. It was busy but not so busy that we had to wait in lines for a long time. I've heard that sometimes the wait can be up to a couple hours for each of the elevators and such. We spent no more than 5 minutes in each of the lines at this stop of our tour. I know from experience that working with the general public can be trying at best but not even on my most horrendous day would I treat people like these employees do at Maid of the Mist in NY did.
One guy was directing people to certain elevators and suddenly burst out with something like "you dont have to make this harder than it has to be." His words were harsher but I dont remember the exact wording. Maybe had he stood in front of the people and directed them it would have been better than standing behind them yelling. Especially since the majority did not speak english, therefore they were standing around with confused looks, not understanding what this man was yelling about. On the next elevator a passenger waved to his brother/friend to hurry and get on before they closed the door. It wasnt a big deal. There was room. No one had to shift or move so he would fit in, but the older man operating the elevator got extremely mad. Now let me tell you these elevators are not air conditioned. There is only a fan pointed at the operator's head. So they can get hot but you are not in them long enough to become too uncomfortable. Unless you get this angry operator who decided a lecture was in order. Letting the two guys know it wasnt fair to the other passengers to have to pack in for one more and he was to listen to him and not his brother. He could have stopped the guy before he got on and told him we were full, but he did not. He had plenty of time. Instead we all had to endure this lecture in the heat. It would have been less time to just shut the door and go down than to make us all wait for him to vent. The other operators had scowls on their faces and either refused to answer questions or were extremely rude in their answers.
The boat crew I noticed were much the same except for one or two who were friendly. When we were coming back in, one even pushed by a child and parent so he could get into the spot they were standing to grab the rope. I know he has a job and needed to tie off the boat but a simple excuse me would have been better than practically pushing them out of the way.
I've been told its customary to tip the elevator operators and I'm a great tipper. Not I my life would I ever tip these rude disrespectful people. Next time we plan to try again from the Canadian side. Hopefully our experience will be much better.

If you re visiting Niagara Falls, you can t miss this. Being below the falls offers a feeling of the awesome power of the water that you can t fully appreciate from above.

Late afternoon tours (during Aug/Sept at least) were significantly less crowded and saves you from being wet all day.

If you do anything anywhere near Niagara do this!!!. I have been 3 times now and this is by far the best most memorable thing I've done there. There's nothing like being below the horseshoe falls!

Sure the boat ride is cool and the views of the falls unmatched. Here's what the commercials don't tell you. Even if you purchase tickets in advance you still have to wait in the same ticket lines as everyone else. Be prepared for a 30 to 90 minute wait to get on the boat where you'll be funneled through several different series of barriers standing shoulder to shoulder with strangers with no shade the whole time. When you finally get to the elevators to get down to the to be getting on the boat is quick from there. Go to the top deck of the boat the bottom sucks unless you're right on the bow. On the top it doesn't matter where you stand as long as you're on the rail. The captain drives the boat so everyone gets a great view. And yes you're getting soaked. Think the fun is over nope. Now you've got a 30 to 90 mi Ute wait to get back up the darn elevator again. Standing shoulder to shoulder crammed in to barrier serpentines. Keep your poncho if you want because after the boat ride there a chance to climb some stairs and almost touch the American falls. Have fun but be prepared to wait for it

THIS IS WHAT THIS PLACE FEELS LIKE

THIS IS WHAT THIS PLACE FEELS LIKE
This is what it feels like if every giant from that book The Big Friendly Giant peed on you. Imagine that the Niagra escarpment is a toilet and each falls is a group of giants standing shoulder to shoulder peeing into this toilet. You get on the Maid of the Mist and get pressure washed by giant urine. That is how this feels! Thankfully the giants forget to flush.

Good experience for the family one time and the price really is not bad. However, the social distancing and COVID prevention is so for show. They stress it outside where you are in the public eye and then cram everyone into an elevator and the boat.

A tour on the Maid of the Mist is absolutely the best way to see Niagara Falls. If you are in the area, it is a must! It's so beautiful to get close to the falls, and the boat ride is fun. Just be prepared to get wet!

Visited here with my husband and 3 children (5 and under). What a fantastic experience! Would recommend to anyone, at any age. The Falls are breathtaking!
Prepare to get wet ! Tie your poncho at the bottom to help alleviate the soak factor.

Waiting line can extend up to 60 min, so plan ahead. Tickets available at the check points or online, but buying online tickets will not get express service, had to wait in the same line.

Fantastic. You take an elevator down the the bottom of the river where you are given a free poncho and board the boat. They didn't overcrowd the boat so we all were able to be on the edge. Your face/hair will get wet - it's hard to keep the hood on your face - sunglasses helped immensely. Great views of both the American and Canadian Falls.

Worst atttaction I ve ever been to. They herd you like cattle for a couple hours to get onto the boat. After you get off, you can look forward to another line to get back to your life, cause you have to take the same elevator back to the entrance, where the exit is.

There is no supervision by the staff at the exit so entire groups of people cut in line making it impossible for people actually waiting to ever get out.

One of the best experience in Niagara Falls is the Maid of the Mist boat ride. This boat ride takes us very close to the Niagara Falls. The experience is breathtaking and gets completely drenched in water splash from water falls.
