This was by far the worst bus rental experience I have ever had.
I rented 2 buses. One was on time, the other was over 30 mins late so we made alternate arrangements but still got charged by the company.
The manager was rude and not helpful (offering a 15% discount for a service that was not utilized). I asked repeatedly for someone from the company to call me and they never did. They sent me an e-mail which they thought was an appropriate solution while I was out on Toronto Island (clearly not on a computer).
If this is your last choice of bus company, choose another day to plan your event so you can book with a decent company. It was an awful experience.
I was on "#4828" bus the night of 27th Sept 2014 with the worst bus driver I've ever experienced. And I've definitely been in some off-the-beaten track countries where one could question even being able to cross the road safely. It's hard to imagine that my worst bus ride was in a first world nation on the same continent!
He 1) couldn't merge onto a highway properly, 2) have any navigational skills to know where he was going causing us to miss the exit at least twice, and 3) doesn't look where he's driving where he almost hit me on his way out.
The bus driver was dropping off our group from the Toronto Science Center back to the Holiday Inn Yorkdale. After a great evening at the awards dinner and chatting on the bus for a while, we looked out to realize that we've been on a bus for quite a while....somehow the bus had to exit from the right to a highway and after holding up traffic for 5 min (with even a car risking their life stopping to a halt so the bus could come onto the lane), the bus finally drove out 3 lanes all the way to the right lane. That's fine, assuming that one would soon exit, but HE DIDN'T. I'm surprised he didn't cause a major several-car accident from his negligent driving skills.
As a non-local with only the Yorkdale Mall as a landmark, we saw he completely passed the exit, and he had to loop back onto the highway to make the same mistake. He once again missed the Holiday Inn exit, and so we had to yell at him to exit at the Yorkdale Mall exit, where he had no sense of direction on where he was going driving around the mall parking lot. We finally told him to stop so a bunch of us could get out (we didn't want to waste more time on the bus), and then he could drive to the hotel to let off one of our 86yr old passenger.
We were 45min later than the other bus carrying our colleagues. And that was with the first batch of people exiting out of the bus at the Yorkdale Mall and walking across the parking lot, crossing the street to the Holiday Inn.
After another 30 min, the bus finally arrived with the rest of the folks that stayed on the bus. And as I walked across the hotel door road, the bus drove forward and suddenly stopped in front of me-- so he didn't even check before starting the bus again to that there were people in front of him! I had several colleagues as witnesses (they were just standing a few feet away from me and just on the other side of the road).
This place doesn't even deserve one star. They are so so SO rude. I booked them for a work party and if it wasn't for the limited amount of time, would have booked elsewhere. They didn't reply to my messages, and when I had to call them they were rude and acted as if I was bugging them. I had to ask for three different invoiced because they kept getting the wrong information. I finally got an email back with the correct information and an extremely rude email, stating "here it is...again". I would highly recommend going elsewhere.
