The best fish in the world! It could use an update inside. And that poor catfish outside could use more whiskers (lol). I will say they are far better than City Fish up the street (where their attitudes are just deplorable). Mad Jack's should stay in buisness forever. I would like to see them expand, maybe even a larger location.

Food was on point. From Nebraska and this will be my go to spot for fish.

Best fresh or fried fish in the city. People come far and near the experience one of the largest varieties of fresh fish from across the nation. The menu is posted on the board but is expanded by the paper one at the counter. Good ole folk happy to serve and fill you up.

Only one location now that Troost is closed. (Sad) :(

No frills seafood. Always a decent selection at fair prices.

As a grubhub driver, I appreciate places like this. Always have the food ready for me to deliver. Excellent customer service!

Their website says they re open went there to buy some fresh oysters and when I got there around 6:00 pm the door was locked all the lights were on and the employee just stared at me. Also they would answer the phone so I can find out the real hours.

I won't come back...For $13.08 i got $5.00 worth of food...i won't come nor will i recommend this place.

I am always pleasantly surprised by this Company s fresh fish selections!! Please review your customer care policies with your restaurant employees. Phone etiquette is lacking. Customers are being ignored at the counter & not greeted with a smile nor any dialogue that is welcoming. Why can t this be a consistently pleasant restaurant? The fish mongers are excellent in knowledge and customer care (5*****)! They will greet and smile at you. The restaurant side needs extensive training on how to answer the phone, language usage and how to handle customers at the counter. Restaurant lacks class & gives the I-don t-care-about-you vibe.
If someone request a fry on the fish as extra extra extra crispy-please do so. Thank you.

This quaint little place to grab some fresh fish, and other items on the menu. And, buy some FRESH fish, array to choose from, too. The food was delicious. Not too many tables, so you might want to carryout, if their busy. Seems like its been there for sometime, so don't expect to see first class...only their cooking! Would return and, of course refer. Great catch!!

fried catfish. fried oysters. frog legs. all kinds of fresh fish, to take home or to have prepared and cooked there. meals are served with a slice of white bread and butter.

Today it was good I got there before the cooking oil got nasty so it was decent. I forgot to tell them easy on the salt so it was a little salty but it was decent today. I ate it all. They could do a lot better with the canned green beans they were inedible but the potato salad and fish was good

I have been buying seafood dinners from Mad Jack's over 30 years. The food is consistently delicious.

I love mad jack's the fish is delicious that they fry for you also you can buy fresh fish salt water and fresh water.

A Little Piece of Kansas That Can Never Be Forgotten

The catfish nuggets are the greatest! (I order the same meal most of the time!) I recall fond memories of this place as child when my parents would frequent Mad Jack s and I want to establish that same fondness with my family and friends. I visited with a pal of mine a bit ago whom happens to be very knowledgeable of fish of the sea and their taste. One taste of Mad Jack s catfish and my pal was hooked! Thanks to all those who make Mad Jack s food great and keep their customers Happy!

Dining In (I may be bias on this one only because when I dine in I prefer to be in a more secluded area, away from the business of the restaurant) However, you do get a front row seat to the making of your order and if you re feeling sociable there s always the option of striking up a conversation with the other patrons/locals.

My favorite place to good and have good food and good drinks

We were politely greeted by John who took our order but it was unfortunately all went down from there. The seating area smelt strongly of sewer, the rest of the staff was loud and made it hard for our young family to enjoy our meal. My boiled shrimp were hard to peal, my husband walleye was overcooked, sides were lackluster, the cocktail sauce was a strange gelatin consistency. We really enjoy eating off of the beaten path when we travel but we would never recommend this place to anyone. Certainly not worth driving into a neighborhood that has bars on all of the widows...yikes!

I've been eating here for over thirty years and there is no other place as good as Mad Jack's.
When I was working I ate there every week. Now not so often,but if I'm in the area, it's Mad Jacks. The BEST!!!

Had a good experience in here with my friend. The food comes rapidly and the service is just fantastic. Prices are fair.

This spot is my favorite. I visit plenty of restaurants but to this one I constantly return again and again. The team is very chummy and the cuisine they serve is so flavorful. I am always happy to have a good meal here. I highly recommend this place.

Best fish! It's like it melts in your mouth :) it would be great to see them upgrade the place though. Okra is my 2nd best!

Was not dine in but smelled really good the atmosphere made us turn and leave before ordering .

The service is fine, parking a bit less than but the food. So good. The pricing is a bit heavy but it is fresh seafood on State Ave!
