Hello, I suffered a water damage (WC of the neighbor above, which flooded the whole of my apartment and which seriously damaged the wood covered with simple PVC tile on the area of the living room and the corridor) on December 4, 2018 An "expert" came several weeks later to notice the damage and said that there was only the PVC parquet to replace (which covered the wood completely damaged by water). A works company was commissioned on 12/19/19, MORE THAN ONE YEAR AFTER, leaving us to live in a shabby state affecting the main living room. When the company intervened, it removed all of the original PVC tiles to apply new ones.
But seeing that the wood underneath was totally unusable, the knowing company gave up after starting the work because it was absolutely not possible given the condition of the wood. She therefore left us with work in progress, 5 days before the end of year celebrations with totally moldy wood (without the layer of initial PVC slats above which hid the degraded appearance of the wood). The wooden slabs are raised under our feet, they are unstable. It's dangerous, you fall because of this unstable wooden floor full of bumps (due to swelling). In addition, we must constantly walk in shoes so as not to be injured by splinters from the wood.
We therefore contact Macif to understand in December 2019, it then asked us to contact the company that intervened with us to have a new quote (while it is their job). The company tells us that it has sent a new quote with new costing to the Expert but without any feedback from it.
After close to thirty calls and emails between the expert's office, the works company and MACIF insurance, we had a second expert meeting scheduled for March 16, 2020, i.e. 1 day before confinement and 3 months after the intervention of the company.
At the very time of the appointment, the expert calls us and tells us that in view of the situation he would not come, and that having consulted dozens of photos and emails detailing the state of our parquet floor, as well as the new estimate for the company, it validated the operation which consisted in changing the wood destroyed by the water damage.
Of course, he does not confirm it in writing, and without return from him after 3 weeks, we again call MACIF insurance to know the next steps, the advisor does not know and the next day we receive a very short mail of 3 lines which tells us:
"In view of the damage, it is up to your landlord or the building insurer to take charge of repairing the parquet. Please contact your landlord regarding this work."
It's unacceptable, it's been over a year since the water damage took place and now, 4 months after the intervention of the company, we live in an unsanitary state (since they removed the PVC tiles masking the smell and mold of damaged wood), the wooden slabs underneath rise, the smell infects ...
We are living in a horrible situation with an unbearable smell, imagine yourself in a period of confinement when you cannot go out! It is intolerable and inhuman, knowing that they continue to collect us every month without any consideration, ever.
