I'm a begginer skier, and I didn't get out of chairs 3 and 7 (the ones in the Valley) so my review only applies to that area. In any case, I'm in love with Loveland (pun intended), the trails are well groomed, and I loved how the begginer area was secluded from everything else, and the price was on point (i got even cheaper tickets from liftopia, but if you ever get tickets from liftopia, make sure you read the disclaimer as the tickets are no refundable and are strictly for the dates you choose at the begining. No exceptions. Tickets purchased at loveland are refundable.). The best part is that if you know you are only going to the bunny slopes, the tickets are even cheaper (25 bucks). Will defenitly go again! The only reason I gavenit 4 stars is because some of the staff was rude, but I really didn't care lol

I visited Loveland Ski Area 3 days in a row Jan 2019. What you might like to know is that I am a new skier, this being only my second ski trip, I only ever skied at Wolf Creek previously and so that is my only point of comparison. This review pertains only to the Valley area, which is for ski school and newbies and not the more advanced Basin Area.
What I liked:
1) My favorite thing about Loveland is that there were 3-4 different "training" spots in the Valley area where as a newbie I could work on my skills before going on a full length trail. Compared to Wolf Creek where there was really only one training spot.
2) The cost is reasonable compared to other resorts in the area. On the first day my daughter and I attended ski school and it costs about $300 for rentals and ski school. The 2nd and 3rd day we did rentals and lift tickets for the 2 easy lifts (called Lift 7 ticket which included a chair lift and a magic carpet lift. The cost was about $160 per day for both of us. It is nice that as a learner I didn't have to buy a lift ticket for the whole mountain.
What I did not like (biggies):
1) The lift operators were not friendly nor particularly helpful. The Valley is basically all about ski school and learners but the lift operators would be pushy and irritable and would get annoyed at people who made mistakes, fell or missed their exit. I would ask for them to slow the chairlift when I would exit and sometimes he would and sometimes he would not. At one point he suggested that I go back to the magic carpet as it is easier, but I had done that the 2 days prior.
2) The magic carpet lift (rainbow lift) works fine in the morning when it is coldest but as the sun comes out and warms the lift the water melts on the lift and you start sliding backwards while trying to ride it up. It is dangerous and they need to figure out a way to prevent this. I watched person after person fall or slide backwards but when I fell they acted like it was all my fault even though I had been riding it without incident all morning.

I would go back because of the options, but I would want to go back even more if the lift operators were more helpful and kind.

This resort is a superb value - of course, there are drawbacks. With the value, you are gaining access to a much smaller resort.
The beginner runs are where Loveland thrives, in my opinion. It is an excellent place to learn - you re loved at Loveland. If you or your family are beginner skiers, I really suggest Loveland. You ll be more pleased and you ll have spent less.

About 40 min away from Vail and so worth it. It costs half the price to learn how to ski here at the Loveland Ski School with super friendly and educated instructors. Highly recommended. So glad we chose to come here and had Kyle as our instructor.

Great mountain, close and there are never lines. Love that we can get 10 runs in before lunch. Make sure to have a hood, the winds can be something fierce.
They have wonderful kids programs. My twins started winter Wiggler's when they had just turned 4, they loved it and did awesome! This year they did the 3 lesson pack second lesson spent the day skiing the basin. The instructors are great with kids, and the kids really have a blast.

I love Loveland. It is my favorite resort to ski and I feel I always have a good time on the mountain.
Their inside service on the other hand is not nearly as enjoyable. Specifically the food service and bar tender. I do not understand why they are so understaffed. There are at most two cashiers for the cafeteria, a majority of the time it is only one. Then there is the single bartender who says she "enjoys working alone" while taking forever to serve the line that forms behind the awkwardly positioned bar. I asked for a cup to go with my beer and was told "we do not give away cups you can buy one if you need it." After buying a $9 beer I would not expect such service especially after waiting in such a long line. I love you Loveland for your mountain, but you need to pick up your customer service.

Wonderful!

Wonderful!
And the "staff" great!

I was visiting from Florida and this ski resort was recommended to me. I've been skiing before but brought some people who had never seen snow before. This place was beautiful. There is a separate beginners area called the Valley. And there is a complimentary shuttle that buses people between the two locations. Everyone I spoke to who worked there was super nice. I would recommend this place.

I've been to 6 different ski hills and this is probably my favorite one. The only problem that I could say is it doesn't have any jumps in the terrain park but you could find that anywhere else.

This ski resort is garbage. I flew in from out of state and hated every minute of this place. It's small, there's no 5 star hotels on site, no restaurants, and the bar doesn't even serve Yuengling. Next time I'll save my money and go to any other ski resort in the area. I REAPEAT if you're a tourist flying in from out of state, go to any other resort in the area. Loveland isn't for you, I mean us.

This is the perfect place for newbies. Visited here 2 years in a row from Texas. The Day Tripper deal will get you everything you need from gear to lifts for the cheapest price in the whole state!

Great Day at Loveland Valley! Edwin in the rental shop helped get my board decked out properly after a fail by a shop in Denver area. Rainbow Carpet operators on both ends made our day with all the "Positive Vibes" on each trip up, it really boosted our kids confidence, Thank You!

Huge resort with a small mountain feel. Best place to take 4 people for the price of one epic mountain. I carry an epic pass and buy four packs to take my friends there. Free cat skiing when there is enough snow.

Beautiful place. Our ski instructor Tony was great. Be sure to arrive early because the check in can take a while for lessons but it was a during a holiday season. I had great first time experience skiing here!

Amazing place. First ever snowboarding and the staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. Would definitely say that the day tripper pass is well worth it, especially if you don't have the gear and it's your first time.

Had a blast. Yes it got very crowded, especially by lift 7 where the kids and beginners go. Unfortunately I was stuck here most of the day to teach my wife! I later used lift 2 and 6 and the lines were almost non existent. The lift staff was friendly and the slopes were very fun. The food at the cafe was so-so. The gift shop was nice as well. There are shuttles that will take you between the main basin and lifts 7 and 3. So park and don't worry about it. Good luck scoring a locker though! Too few for how many people were there. They were all full 30 minutes after opening.

The reason I'm giving Loveland only 3 stars is based on my 1st time ski class experience.
The instructor was very nice as was all the staff I encountered. And what I saw of the instructors for children I'd say you get a lot of bang for your buck at Loveland. They were great with kids!! Our instructor wanted us to follow him down and frustratingly I fell and didn't know how to get up. Nor did I get help from my instructor. He waited at the bottom with the class, he finally came up to check on me after another fall where I ended up walking down exhausted. I wasn't ready to progress with the class and was just left behind. I've heard other resorts will make sure students are paired with instructors at the level they're at midday. I did pay for a whole day lesson, but only received half a day of instruction. My class had moved on up the mountain and I was left alone with no instructor
Based on my experience, is recommend not having your first lesson at Loveland ski area
Loveland is affordable, I'll give it that

Huge ski area, great views, reasonable ticket price and the conditions were excellent. However, staffed by some of the rudest lift workers I have ever encountered. I was headed on to the main lodge lift when one of the lift attendants (Justin, I think) moved to push snow into the loading area without looking up... I yelled "heads up!" as I couldn't stop in time, and he started chewing me out that he was the one who should be saying heads up because he was working or something to that effect. I always say thank you when I get on a lift... got acknowledged with a "you bet" maybe twice the entire day.
