Was in town so could not miss the chance to try their pizza. Amazing! I love their pizza so much! We had Buddy's Special Pizza and the toppings were great! The best thing I love about their pizza is actually their dough/crust. It has a very nice crunch too it and the dough has a very slight saltiness to it that I absolutely love.

If I am ever in town again, I am going to make sure I come back again!

The pizza was really amazing! Even better than many places in Italy. Nice staff and the food came very quick. Unfortunately we had a really bad place in the last secluded corner of the whole restaurant and it was very, very loud and really cold. I recommend a reservation so you ll have better seats and a better overall experience. But still I d come back, loved the food.

It is very sad how far Lambardi's has fallen. The food quality is no where near what it was. The service is not what it was. They switched from ceramic plates to paper plates. They switched from reusable plastic tumblers to disposable plastic cups. I guided a lot of tourist to Lambardi's but I will need to change and guide them to another place now.

A great pizza!

A great pizza!

You know when it's a great pizza right?

The cheese gets long and doesn't break, you can feel all the flavors of basil, oregano, tomatoes and so on! It just feels fresh and great!

That's what this is! A great pizza and a great piece of pizza history! But it also ends there.

The prices are high and they do serve drinks in a plastic glass, the beer is expensive as well. 33cl Peroni (Italian normal lager beer) 9$ when you normally buy it for 6$. Kinda outrageous but other than that it was good!

Okay staff and service, nothing special to be honest both in good and bad so to speak. The decor and atmosphere feels a bit dated also..

For me, this is one and done. It was great but nothing I will go back to for a long time! I would rather go back to Roberta's in Brooklyn to be honest.

This pizza is an average pizza nothing amazing about this place , but the background of it . If you a local save your money to any other restaurant in NYC this is mainly a tourist attraction

I believe their claim to be the 1st pizzeria in NYC cause neither their menu nor technology or quality of service seem to have evolved much. Barely 4 varieties of pizza (that too outrageously priced), served on paper plates (perhaps you get more carbohydrates if you eat those as well along with the pizza) and cash only. And the best joke is they make you wait 30-40 mins for the aforementioned service. There's no chilli oil or any extra dressings available for the pizza. Seriously this place should stop basking in old nostalgia and start living in the present. Spend your hard earned money judiciously elsewhere perhaps in little Italy a few blocks away.

My brother suggested that we try this place and it was not worth the money. It just a tourist trap and not real italian pizza. I took my son down to do some shopping in SOHO on the last day in NY before heading back to CA, and we wanted some italian food and came across Lasso Pizza on Mott Street. We were glad we stopped in and enjoyed some excellent pizza. I grew up in this neighborhood and it has changed a lot since I was a little kid. So trying to find a reasonable italian place is really a task. I visit NY every year since most of my family still live here and NJ and I will be stopping by Lasso Pizza if it is still there.

Nostalgic? Sure. But the best pizza in NYC... Nope. This is a good example of a place made famous by visitors and long standing... And a rip off to customers, $10 more for a pie than his neighbors, plastic cups, paper plates, no free soda refills. Cash only. This is how the rich get richer. I had better pizza at many other places in NYC. Don't waste your time.

I agree with what others have posted. The only coalstyle oven Pizza you will ever have. Part of Scott's Pizza Tour this has become my favorite spot to have a pie. It's original Italian Pizza. I love love the crust , not to thick or to thin and just enough crunch when you take a bite. The service is fast and good. A must have while visiting the City !

Pizza base was flavourful and toppings good. Service very fake and disingenuous. Prices are outrageous for what's on offer. Didn't see a single Italian working there. Ambiance cheeseball.

Just not that good plain and simple . I am open minded and a pizza Eficanato and I can tell you I have had better coal fired pizzas then this , but you should definitely go there and try to say you been there and did that because it is the birthplace of pizza in the USA.

Great pizza, out of towner experience. But there's most always a wait, places close by that have just as good of pizza for less cost. This is probably the most expensive but it's reputation is what allows for the prices. Pizza is great NY style pizza.

The menu changed and now they sell an individual sized pizza at the same price as the large pie used to be. The recipe also changed [or maybe the pizza makers don't know how to adjust for the new pizza size] and it's worse

Shared a large and a small pizza amongst 4 people. Really good pizza!! The premium meatballs were very juicy and well seasoned... one disappointment was the wait- they told is wait is 35 to 45 minutes but we ended up waiting outside in the cold for around 75 minutes.

Really good, but expensive pizza. Being supposedly the first pizza joint in America makes it historic. There's always a wait and they only take cash. The wine is ok. Small pepperoni pizza feeds two people. That and one glass of wine was $40.

My favorite stop while in NYC. I have taken my closest friends and my little brother - always great pizza and a memorable time. Loved the Jack Nicholson picture on the wall from his visit. Hope to visit again very soon!

Overpriced... pizza was just bleh nothing special, sauce was very runny, barely any cheese on each slice, burnt crust and as most have said plastic cups/paper plates c'mon son smh. Tourist trap to the max! You're better off buying a $3 slice at the hundreds of other pizza joints in NYC that taste a lot better.

Long before the streets of New York became overrun with artisanal, licensed, and certified pizza pies there stood Lombardis. Resolutely old school with an even older than said schools oven. With so many pizza options out there Lombardis has been relegated to "bring out of towners to" status but when I do bring those out of towners they're always as pleased as I am.

Fantastic Pizza indeed. Crust, bread, cheese and sauce was carefully prepared and not overcooked nor burned. Margherita base and my toppings were Meatball, Mushroom, Spinach (very generous portion but of course you're paying $40 including tips for an 18" pie). It surprised everyone around us and they all looked at how colorful this pie was. The party next to us commenting to the waiter how I broke all the rules.

Unfortunately the size of the back dining room was unbelievably narrow so its hard to move around. It is also where you can see all the pizzas are being made. And I can say the service was reasonable-tip worthy.

*They don't accept credit cards so be prepared to pay in cash.

All I have to say is... It LOOKS and is cooked like a New York style pizza. This pizza was very expensive cheap garbage! The pizza with half pepperoni and half onion cost $33. Are you kidding. I'm from Buffalo /Niagara Falls and that is still the best pizza I've had anywhere so far. The crust on the pizza was like thin hard overcooked cardboard with sauce that had no flavor and not many toppings for the price you pay extra for them. If you are deciding to go and have good pizza save your time and look somewhere else.

The staff is always very attentive and friendly (even when busy). The food here is very good value for money and the amount is great! There are a variety of different menus and foods that sell well. I will definitely come again. The atmosphere here is lovely and there is nothing too much trouble for this delightful family run restaurant.

We were here with guest on holiday - first time to NYC and the waiters tried to put us in the attic with no other customers or atmosphere. When we asked to move they were not willing unless we waited an hour and a half. I am sure the food is good if you can get a decent seat!

The oldest licensed pizza parlor in the USA.

Claims to be America s first pizzeria with a very Italian vibe, pizza was good but was expecting more then just another Italian pizza store with an inflated price, never the less a spot to visit.

To be honest not sure what's all the fuss about in this place, ordered Margarita with some extra toppings and the pizza was very average, I had much better pizzas in NY! They also don't accept cards which is a big deal for someone like me as I don't usually carry cash however there is an ATM inside the restaurant so that's a bit okay. Overall the experience was below average, probably won't come back.

Moved to NYC for the summer and this was the worst service and dining experience I have ever had. I tried to order a drink and she carded me, which is obviously fine, but I realized I had switched wallets and forgot my ID and when I told her she repsonded with "Aw, what a shame." in an INCREDIBLY condescending voice. Then she brought me out a jug of water and a cup and did not pour a cup of water for me, nor refill it the entire time I was there. If I am paying over $15 for a calzone, I expect my waitress to at least pour my first glass of water for me. Throughout my stay I noticed she did not ID anyone else for drinks in the lower section of the restaurant where I was, including people who visibily looked under 25 as I do. I was super excited about this place because I am a history buff and heard great things about it, but can safely say I will never recommend it to anyone or go back.

The pizza is great. No question about it. The wait, on the other hand not so great. Maybe it was just the wrong time of day to go there, since it was late in the day. But it was a little too crowded, and the pizza took 45 minutes to get to the table. Definitely order as soon as you can to minimize the wait.

Good ambience, good service. Pizza was really bad. It was absolutely bland and tasteless. The crust as well as the sauce didn't have any flavor. We chose the famous half and half option - half white and half marinara. Not sure what the hype is about.
