My mother, nephew, and I came here in pursuit of authentic pizza from Little Italy. Seeing as how this was rated the best, we had high expectations. From the moment we sat down and received a bottle of warm tap water with plastic cups we should have stood up and walked out. The service was not the best and the pizza, nothing special. In hindsight, everything the waiter did was in an attempt to get us to order more. We ordered drinks because the water was not drinkable, (not too big of a deal at first) but we were never offered ice for our water, other tables had ice, and the ice machine was right near us. Then we ordered a large, classic margherita (pretty standard as far as pizzas go) but were told that the pizzas are taking a long time so we should order an appetizer. My nephew, who is 10, jumped at the idea and ordered breadsticks for us. They were nothing special, just bread and tomato sauce. After this, I wish I took note of how long we waited for the pizza. It wouldn't have been an issue if it weren't for the lackluster pizza that was placed on our table. My nephew took one look and said he didn't want it (he never even tried it). It was a margherita...with barely any cheese. It was bread and sauce with scattered slices of mozarella and barely there basil. I personally don't like pizzas that are mostly tomato sauce and I couldn't believe there was no other cheese except some slices of mozarella that were melted to oblivion. The pizza was not even hot. When my mom pointed out that the couple behind us arrived after us and got their pizza (which had actual toppings) first, I knew our service was just bad. My mother liked it, but Ive had better, with actual toppings! After waiting so long, I felt it was just too late to ask for another or for more cheese. I wanted to flee as fast as possible. I left the restaurant so disappointed. We walked down the street and found a $2 pizza place. I wish we found that place first because that's all we wanted.

I get that it's a relatively old location using recipes that are older than the pizzeria most likely, but the pizza had NO flavour. Hands down the worst pizza I've had on the eastern seaboard and that is including dollar pizza Service was... okay I guess. Felt as if they were more like runners with nicer clothes. I didn't want to tip, but they have nothing to do with the layout of the restaurant being janky or the pizza not being good.

Tourist trap. This place was recommended to my by a fellow Italian. Cool authentic place, great back story, very good sauce, don't get me wrong but we paid $75 for a calzone, a small pizza with meatballs, a small salad and two tiny glasses of wine. This is ridiculous even for NYC. Not only that but I changed my order from pepperoni to meatball because the picture on the wall was these huge meatballs and I got these tiny little buggers. Not really what I was hoping for. To be fair, it was good. It was fresh. It was authentic. It was not worth $75

Bad place. The pizza was burnt, all felt cheap. Plastic cups, Paper plates and cheap tablecloths. The worst part is how much it cost. I went with a group of 14 others in an explore america trip. Cost us $217 for 4 pizzas.

This place is always crowded, you will definitely find better pizza places in New York, no doubt. This place is more of a Historical place because is the First Pizza Place in America, Not the best one though.

Pretty good pizza. The base is thin and with a great amount of crisp. I guess I was expecting it to be better. It didn't wow us. One large pizza and two soft drinks (with sales tax and tip) was $60.

The oldest pizzeria in New York City! The decor and ambience are very classic and you feel right at home. The menu also shows only a handful of pizzas, a few salads and no pasta. In my opinion, this also speaks for the restaurant that the menu is kept small, traditional and classic. The pizza was delicious and the service friendly. You can easily share one of the huge pizzas in pairs. You will get full;) I would come again.

Lifelong New Yorker, this pizza is just ok. Prefer John s (bleecker). Prices here are definitely marked up for tourists, appetizers we had, meatballs and eggplant, were not really interesting or generous portions. Cheap wine at $45 per bottle no matter what you order is pretty ridiculous, don t think I will be back soon.

One of the few original wood oven pizza places in America. The ambiance was good, had that Italian feel, alot of pictures with signed autographs, servers were nice. I tried a thin crust meat ball pizza, it was good but I have had better pizzas in NYC

They make the pizza after you've ordered so freshness and crispiness is guaranteed. Plus, its the first pizzeria in USA...established since 1927. Just brilliant. The cheese,meatballs,pancetta,etc....mamamia!!!

The food quality matches it's reputation, great service. It's cash only , so remember to have some cash in hand if not there's an ATM right in the premises. other than that if you are a tourist you should definitely check it out.

Way over priced for what it is. Paper plates for expensive pizza. I kind of feel ashamed as a new Yorker I even went here. The quality of pizza was not that good. The crust was decent and the toppings sucked. Very little cheese and the sausage had barely any flavor. The sauce on the pizza was decent. I deff won't be coming back here , nor would I recommend it to anyone. The service was good, but it took over 30 minutes for a small pizza.

I was not impressed at all with the pizza. Overpriced for what we got and the service was not good at all. They give you cheap paper plates for the pizza and flimsy plastic cups for the water and when we asked for a box for the left over pizza they can back with the slices wrapped up in foil. We ordered a margarita pizza but it had VERY LITTLE cheese and I could count on one hand the tiny basil strips they put on the pizza. What a let down!

My first time in NYC and I HAD to have a Lombardi's pie. I've seen it on TV so many times, it was a must do. So when we got there it was packed. I asked for a table for 4. I expected to wait awhile. The host immediately took us to the back of the building, down a hall, THRU THE KITCHEN!!!, past "the oven". We proceeded up a small staircase to a private little dining area upstairs. This cozy little room had maybe 5 tables. My friends from NYC were shocked, they'd eaten here before and never knew about the back room and had never seen the oven. They joked that I must know the owner or something. Everything was perfect. The manager even let us take pictures of our party in front of the oven. As busy as they were, they were kind enough to stop for a moment. I still cannot wipe the smile from my face. THANK YOU to the wonderful people of Lombardi's for making my only visit such a special memory. GRATZI!!!!

Amazing! A Must-visit place if you are in NYC. 1. Thick&bold tomato sauce 2. Really tasty pepperoni 3. Sour cheese that really goes extremely well with its tomato sauce 4. Coal oven baked dough. It is greasy, crispy. New york style is added on to margherita pizza. As a result, it's well seasoned too!

This is one of the best classic New York pizzas. I think of these pies the different category than the slice shops around town. Sneak a look at them flipping them the dough and making them pies. This is why this place is still in business not making tourist trap pizza. This is the real deal and worth a visit.

Good pizza but very pricey. For the price they charge, the pizza wasn't that great at all. They don't accept cards so one has to carry cash or draw cash from an ATM. The seating is cramped and not comfortable. The staff was polite and the pizza was decent. That's the only reason I m giving this place 3-stars.

Poor service, we felt rushed since we weren't finished eating and they were already picking up our plates. 35$ for a pizza that had no flavour, I've paid 12$ for a much better pizza in NYC. They also do not have very many menu options.

Good pizza and worth the visit if you're in area. Couple of odd things they get away with that others wouldn't...they service on paper plates, have no refills on their regular soda pop, and only take cash. Kinda stingy when you order extra toppings, so don't even bother paying more for what you get. Can be an hour or so during peak hours.
