A great steakhouse hidden away where you wouldn't expect to find a place like this.
Service was very attentive. Made up for the overpriced menu, plastic plates, vinyl tablecloth, no ambience setting. Otherwise, would have been two stars. Food (bbq pork ribs) was very good except for salad which was nothing more than lettuce and shredded carrots.
Not what it used to be but the steaks are good. Beef ribs were way too greasy.
Had a very good bone in rib eye. Friend had the porterhouse, excellent! Great server! Even pinto beans was good. Wonderful experience! Would go again!
I love this place! Yes the prices are a little high but you can easily split a meal or take home leftovers. The beef ribs are the boom!
The service was ok once someone started taking our orders. The food was not very flavorful. Maybe it was just an off night for everyone but my wife and I weren't very happy when we left. Nor are we planning on a return trip.
Great steak and chicken with all the trimmings. I highly recommend Lil Abner's.
Very rustic... Very friendly... Very good and wallet friendly.
kind of on the run down side just very average service but the meat is just outstanding
Amazing food and service. Even better is the steak :)
I spent a hundred bucks for two people to have steaks and little Abner's and it was horrible rib I had was small thin and just not very appetizing at all and steak my friend ad was also terrible we waited a long time to be served service was slow absolutely the worst $100 I ever spent on steak that I'll never go there again I was totally disappointed in the meal the atmosphere our waiter couldn't even tell us what kind of beef they served in the restaurant don't go there it's terrible spending money somewhere else like Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse absolutely 100% terrible never again don't go there because I won't
Great service, great food, old place.. Neat place to go..
If you're looking for a really good atmosphere in a steakhouse this is the place now the portions and the price and do not go hand-in-hand however for $28 for ribs they were mainly bones and barely any substance the steak was really good however it could have been marinated better for its $30 price tag as well potatoes do not come with the meal they are extra the only thing that you get for a side is Bread & Bean
The service is good. That's about it. The burger is not a $13 burger. It doesnt even come with fries. And to add a piece of cheese they charge an extra $1. I've been here twice and each time waited atleast 50-60 minutes for my food. Its overall too expensive for the quality of the food in my opinion. I give it 2 stars and not 1 because of the friendly service and the cool band that plays.
Terrible food
Good service
Building does not seem clean
Restrooms poorly cared for
Never again
Been going there for almost 4 decades. It beats any Western theam steak house in the Southwest. Mesquite cooked perfectly to order. Beans, Texas toast salad. Nothing compares in the State
This place is funky but an absolute blast with delicious steaks! Would recommend to anyone.
Burger was ok, but the way it's served leaves the bun to get soggy.
Great steak, which is why you come here. A little pricey. Great atmosphere.
Pathetic..............Had been meaning to try Lil Abner's Steak House since moving to Tucson so for my Wife's birthday in January she wanted to go there for their beef ribs. Well, let me put the whole experience in one word ''pathetic''. When you get to the place the parking lot is not paved and we had a handicapped member in a wheelchair in our party. Upon going inside one is greated to sitting at picnic tables covered with cheap tablecloths. Now once seated there is NO MENU given to you at all whatsoever. They have a half of chicken [14.95], 7 oz Filet [23.95], 1 pound t-bone [23.95], 2 pound porterhouse [36.95], and ribs pork [23.95] or beef [23.95]. These prices are from a food review from a little hand out that talks about Lil Abner's serving Tucson. Let me add that a backed potato [3.00] is extra on top of the prices listed. The only thing included with your meal is a cheap salad (no cheese, they don't have cheese, no croutons) just lettuce, some cut up onions, and dressing. You also get unlimited garlic bread, but it is basically Wonder Bread cooked on the griddle with garlic seasoning. Last you get unlimited baked beans. When your food arrives you get a plate with either steak, chicken, or ribs on it and that is it. If you ordered a backed potato it comes on a seprate platter with other backed potatos ordered all wrapped in foil and are all burning hot to the touch. It is your responsibility to get it on to your plate and here is the kicker you have to dress it yourself as well. They don't provide cups of butter or sour cream, The sour cream comes in squeeze packets, and the butter little squares one has to unwrap. So after burning your hand touching your backed potato you have to dress it in a cheap fashion. A steakhouse provides superior service but Lil Abner's provides nothing of the sort for the prices one pays. The steaks served are average there is nothing special going on here just steaks season with lawry's seasoned salt is my guess. One could say yes Lil Abner's is providing the chuck wagon experience, well that does not fly at these prices. The ownership is trying to get by as cheap as possible and charge all they can for average at best food at fine quality steakhouse prices which Lil Abner's is not. Texas Roadhouse is cheaper and 1000 times better then Lil Abner's. I have no problem paying Lil Abner's type prices for a fantastic meal, with fantastic service, and presentation on my food but at Lil Abner's one receives none of that whatsoever. Go to Texas Roadhouse, or if you want a more upscale place The Steak Out, The Keg, or Bob's Steakhouse among many others in Tucson. Lil Abner's should be avoided at all cost until it is ran in a proper manner.
Best T Bone steak I had in Tucson!!! Excellent service!! The best!!!
An amazing place for dinner and nostalgia. General Managers Sean and Connie are a class act. It s going on 30 years since my first steak at Abners and won t be my last.
I love how their grill is right at the front enterance to greet and entice every person that approaches. Great great steaks, difficult to beat mesquite wood fired grills.
Loved the Cowboy I would personally recommend that. The reason for 4 stars is that service was slow, and my aunt's chicken was grossly overcooked.
I cannot find a steakhouse in Tucson that can even come close. A simple menu with an awesome outdoor Mesquite Grill seasoned over the years. Highly doubt it could be duplicated.
Awesome band , awesome food and very comfortable atmosphere. It was all delicious.
Had Lil Abner's for the first time tonight, can't wait to go again. We decided to take out for Fourth of July, and our food was quickly prepare for us to pick up. Although there is a smaller menu, they make up for in taste. I would not hesitate to go again to sit down and eat there, great food.
Fantastic food, staff was great. Fun vibe, dress up or down.
Been going by here for years...so finally stopped. Food was incredible!!!! Prices reasonable. Ambiance of an old Butterfield Stage Stop priceless!!!! Tucker and his crew incredible....drinks never empty...checked on us frequently.....will definitely go back. Employees really seemed glad to have our business.
What can I say, was an awesome experience (especially during the Covid,) Steaks were grilled to perfection, with cowboy bean, tater, n toast making for a scrumptious meal
The steak was absolutely fantastic with wonderful service. Great old cowboy atmosphere. A must.
Steaks were slightly overcooked. Price was WAY WAY too high for what it was. Ambience was nothing special, the only seating is uncomfortable wooden picnic tables. For same price you can fine dine. For 1/2 the price you can get a much better steak or prime rib at El Corral. Will not be eating here again.
Back in the day was great . Today horrible food no flavor beans bland salad plain and the bread stale just young kids running it .
No options for picky eaters or people who don't eat meat.
Rustic steakhouse a few minutes north of Arizona Pavilions. The steak is some of the best I've had in Tucson, and comes with plenty of sides. The chicken and burgers are also top notch. Cocktails are okay here, but you're better off going with simple drinks.
They have the best steak, chicken and burgers ever! I definitely recommend this place. Great staff always friendly and helpful!
Horrible customer service took over almost 2 hours be served with our food, waitress would show up probably every 45 mins, wasn't busy either. My food was burned, drink refills took forever just to be served iced and hot WATER!!! MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD!!!!!!! but I bet it's a great place to get drunk tho
The menu is so focused it's hard not to have perfect food.
Great steak! Great historic location on the old Butterfield Stage Line.
This place has FANTASTIC steaks. Best steaks I've ever had.
They let go a waitress of 30 years by the name of "Sherry" always brought smiles to customers faces. And they let her go because of poor service?? Someone doesn't work at a restaurant for 30 years because they give poor service. If you wanna see her in action check out Circle S. This places prices blow anyway for the quality of food they give you.
Outstanding food. Great steaks. A must stop when I'm in the area. Oh, by the way the beans are excellent.
Steak is worth the drive and drinks are strong. This place IS the Wild West Cowboy grill in Tucson. Different options for seating (bar if you want to eat alone and watch t.v., live band on some nights for entertainment or if you're date is not a talker, a quiet room if you need to talk business and other options for seating in between). I entertain a lot at swanky places but Lil Abner is the real deal for a fun meal!
We love going to Li'l Abner's. The place is rustic inside and the food is awesome!
No frills and nothing fancy here. It's all about the meat! A little pricey for how it's all served up but if it's about the meat, you won't be disappointed. I had the 12 oz. Bone out ribeye, tender and flavorful
Divine steak and authentic cowboy sides. This place is very pricey but won't disappoint the taste buds.
Fantastic steak. Great atmosphere with some old country and Charlie Pride covers. Overall very nice evering.
An absolute must visit if you're in Marana/Tucson! True western steakhouse ambience. Fantastic food (mesquite grilled right outside!) and friendly service. Eat inside or on the patio. Occasional live entertainment. Great summer evenings or warm up by the fireplace in winter.
I have to give this restaurant mixed reviews.
On the down side: The pork ribs were a little dry, the beef ribs were fatty. The ribs were placed on the plate, ribs up which gave the appearance of very little meat. In reality there was plenty, but first impressions lingered for me. The ranch beans were nothing special.
On the up side, the steaks were well prepared. The garlic toast was excellent. And finally, the waitress didnt charge us for the beef ribs since I told her I wasn't thrilled with them. I didn't ask for a freebie, she just didn't put it on our bill.
I would go back, but I would stick to the steak.
Nice option for a rustic experience menu could give a bit more detail
Great place for atmosphere and letting out the cowboy inside. The rustic casual decor with its big long tables make it great for large groups. The steak was great quality, grilled on a huge outside bbq pit.
On the menu there was NO option for any veggies. We like a good stake but we also like options for side dishes.
The ribs here are delicious! The meals are served with a salad. Beans, Texas toast and salsa are family style. The meats are all grilled on a huge mesquite grill outside. We stop here for dinner every time we're in the area.
Great place to bring guests...a bit pricey, but fun!
Outstanding food & service. A trueTucson landmark .
Loved the whole experience, Family has been going for years! Staff is always nice and well mannered, Food is excellent. Love the atmosphere, the country feel. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants, We have many great memories here, I recommend this place to everyone! Hope you enjoy, I know you will!
Incredible quality steak. Outdoor seating with live entertainment was excellent!
The atmosphere is blahs, the service was so so, but the food was not good. Especially for the price! There were 3 of us, and each of us ordered a steak. The steaks were all way over cooked. Medium rare was barely medium. The beans were average. For the price I expected much better quality! They did comp one of our meals for us, but won't ever go back.
Great service. Really good drinks and food. A bit pricy for the ambiance.
High priced and very hot inside. Cannot sit inside unless the fan is running
Awesome service, our waitress Stephy was so attentive and pleasant. The food was awesome, great steaks in a quirky setting. Very charming.
I lived here 20 years ago and Lil Abner's was a great place to go. I took friends there tonight and it was disappointing. The service was slow and disorganized (had to flag someone down to take our order and it took an hour to get our food) and the steaks were Ok but nothing special... chicken was ok and salmon was overcooked, salads and sides were cafeteria style food. Way overpriced considering the poor service and food quality. We won't be coming back.
It was so delicious!!! People see the glass however they want to, half full or half empty. This is a very original place with lots of personality. I love the atmosphere, very cozy and funky.
The food is excellent, when we went we were a party of 5 and we all liked what we ordered, mostly ribs. We also ordered ranch style beans and baked potatoes, they were incredible delicious too. Our main course came with salad and bread, very good too.
I think the only room for improvement is, please invest on an AC, it was a little too damp and sufficated, but the food minimized the 'pain'.
Rustic hole in the wall with the best seasoned and open wood cooked meat in the west.. its cowboy style food cooked by a top chef! Is it pricey? A lil.. but is it worth it? A lot!! Salads come out cold and fresh, dressings are rich, beans and texas toast are cowboy style good! Corn is sweet.. Been coming here since 2012 and its all ways top notch!
Remember when we rode horseback through the desert from a dude ranch to go here. Wonderful then and still was 20 years later.
The steaks at Abners are always great. Favorite spot.
Very plain, but good food, a bit expensive, good service!
What a find! We went here for dinner on the Fourth. We shared the fillet and the pork ribs. It was honestly some of the best meat we ve ever had, rivaling any high end steakhouse for sure. Our server was attentive and friendly and the live music was awesome. So fun to sit out on the patio and we were able to see fireworks from all around. This place is a definite must!
Best steak my family has had in a while! Definitely must try!
Traditional Western fare done right! I suggest going in Fall, spring, or Winter so you can sit outside. Fall off the bone tender ribs and cowboy beans to die for! Same some room for pecan pie a la mode!
It s a Thursday evening and we ve been at the restaurant for 95 minutes and still haven t gotten our food. There s been no bread or really any service since we ve gotten here. Will not return.
Great Happy Hour. Little pricey for dinner ,but delicious food and huge quantities! Bring your appetite!!
Li'l Abner's Steakhouse is a legendary restaurant that has been serving Tucson, Arizona since 1947. This iconic steakhouse has become a staple in the community and is known for its delicious steaks, chicken, and ribs cooked over an open mesquite fire. The restaurant's rustic decor and friendly atmosphere make it the perfect place to enjoy a meal with family or friends.
One of the things that sets Li'l Abner's Steakhouse apart from other restaurants is their commitment to using only the highest quality ingredients. All of their meats are sourced from local farms and are hand-cut daily to ensure freshness. They also use only fresh vegetables in their dishes, which are delivered daily from local farmers.
The menu at Li'l Abner's Steakhouse features a wide variety of dishes to suit every taste. Their signature dish is, of course, their steaks which come in various cuts such as ribeye, sirloin, filet mignon and T-bone steak. Each steak is cooked to perfection over an open mesquite fire giving it a unique smoky flavor that cannot be replicated.
In addition to steaks, Li'l Abner's Steakhouse also offers chicken dishes such as grilled chicken breast or fried chicken tenders served with homemade gravy on top. For those who prefer pork ribs they have baby back ribs or spare ribs both slow-cooked until they fall off the bone.
The sides at Li'l Abner's Steakhouse are just as impressive as their main courses with options like baked potatoes loaded with butter and sour cream or sweet potato fries dusted with cinnamon sugar for those who want something sweet.
Li'l Abner's Steakhouse also offers catering services for events such as weddings or corporate events where guests can enjoy all of their favorite dishes in one place without having to worry about cooking themselves.
Overall if you're looking for great food served in a warm atmosphere then look no further than Li'l Abner's Steak House!
