Pathetic..............Had been meaning to try Lil Abner's Steak House since moving to Tucson so for my Wife's birthday in January she wanted to go there for their beef ribs. Well, let me put the whole experience in one word ''pathetic''. When you get to the place the parking lot is not paved and we had a handicapped member in a wheelchair in our party. Upon going inside one is greated to sitting at picnic tables covered with cheap tablecloths. Now once seated there is NO MENU given to you at all whatsoever. They have a half of chicken [14.95], 7 oz Filet [23.95], 1 pound t-bone [23.95], 2 pound porterhouse [36.95], and ribs pork [23.95] or beef [23.95]. These prices are from a food review from a little hand out that talks about Lil Abner's serving Tucson. Let me add that a backed potato [3.00] is extra on top of the prices listed. The only thing included with your meal is a cheap salad (no cheese, they don't have cheese, no croutons) just lettuce, some cut up onions, and dressing. You also get unlimited garlic bread, but it is basically Wonder Bread cooked on the griddle with garlic seasoning. Last you get unlimited baked beans. When your food arrives you get a plate with either steak, chicken, or ribs on it and that is it. If you ordered a backed potato it comes on a seprate platter with other backed potatos ordered all wrapped in foil and are all burning hot to the touch. It is your responsibility to get it on to your plate and here is the kicker you have to dress it yourself as well. They don't provide cups of butter or sour cream, The sour cream comes in squeeze packets, and the butter little squares one has to unwrap. So after burning your hand touching your backed potato you have to dress it in a cheap fashion. A steakhouse provides superior service but Lil Abner's provides nothing of the sort for the prices one pays. The steaks served are average there is nothing special going on here just steaks season with lawry's seasoned salt is my guess. One could say yes Lil Abner's is providing the chuck wagon experience, well that does not fly at these prices. The ownership is trying to get by as cheap as possible and charge all they can for average at best food at fine quality steakhouse prices which Lil Abner's is not. Texas Roadhouse is cheaper and 1000 times better then Lil Abner's. I have no problem paying Lil Abner's type prices for a fantastic meal, with fantastic service, and presentation on my food but at Lil Abner's one receives none of that whatsoever. Go to Texas Roadhouse, or if you want a more upscale place The Steak Out, The Keg, or Bob's Steakhouse among many others in Tucson. Lil Abner's should be avoided at all cost until it is ran in a proper manner.
