Let's Go Punting Cambridge Review

Excellent, very interesting and educational trip provided by our very knowledgeable guide.

What better way to learn the intriguing history and stories of the city, than sat in a boat drifting down the river. Our experienced tour guide (Kieran) was very informative, interesting and ably conducted us up and down the water. The tour also anables you to see parts of the city not ordinarily accessible. A little on the expensive side, but if you book online you can save a bit.

The only reason this is not a 5 star review is because of punting touts. Obviously it's an industry which rely on ticket sales, chiefly to tourists. But as a tourist myself, I do not want to be hassled several times a day and have to walk on the other side to avoid. This is widespread and not limited to one single company. Slightly spoils the city in my opinion.

Ben was an amazingly funny and informative punting chauffeur, while other punting trips were quicker and overtaking us, Ben carried on at a leisurely pace while keeping the information flowing

A relaxing punting tour with a nice punter?

One thing I would suggest to all boat renters/punting tours is to clean up the garbage out of the boats lining up by the quay... it does not give a very nice image of quaint Cambridge by the river... but people renting the boats could also have the decency of picking up rubbish after themselves...

We loved our punt experience with Arthur as our guide. We were so lucky to get the seats at the front of the boat as it felt like a private tour experience as you're slightly separate from the rest of the passengers. So peaceful and very informative tour. Would definitely come again.

Had the best time at Let s Go Punting, even in heavy rains. Harry made sure we did not get too wet 100% recommend! Best thing to do In Cambridge

If you do one thing in Cambridge....make it the Kings College Chapel. But if you do ANOTHER thing in Cambridge, make it a punting tour!
Yes it is awfully touristy but there's a reason for that. It's a great way to see the city and pick up some interesting facts along the way. We particularly enjoyed all the stories of the pranks played by the students over the years (hanging a car off a bridge, for one!).
This is also the best way to see the Bridge of Sighs and Mathematical Bridge.
There are a few companies offering punting tours, Scudamore's being the most famous but also the most expensive. We chose Let's Go Punting because it was half the price, but had equally good reviews.
Our guide (Ben, maybe?) was friendly and funny and most importantly got us back to shore safely!
I would recommend going on a chauffeured tour with these guys rather than trying punting yourself. They make it look easy but it's definitely not.
And I also recommend going in off-season. We came in March and although it was a bit chilly, there were a lot less people on the river which makes for a far more pleasant experience and better photos

Great chaps. Interesting facts on the tour. We had a private tour which lasted just under an hour. It was a nice hot day, there is a floating bar on the River and the meeting point is next to a bar who do takeaway drinks so you can take a bottle of wine etc with you.

Let's Go Punting is one of the smaller punting companies in Cambridge but the staff is very friendly, it is cheaper than the bigger punting companies and prices are always negotiable.

I went my my friends and family and all were amazed by the beauty of the Backs and the river.

I definitely recommend this to all visitors of Cambridge. This is a must-do!

Recently had a punt with these guys and they were fantastic. Nick our guide was full of energy, wisdom and interesting facts. Couldn't praise him enough. So if you are ever visiting Cambridge, seek Lets Go Punting out and ask for Nick, although I'm sure the other guides are good as well.

Worth a trip. 45 minute punting with information about the buildings around the river from the boat driver. Quiet and quiet experience. Recommended if you are here for a few days.

Tour guide was a nice guy (Alex) and entertained us during out punting trip which took us down the back of Cambridge University and its surrounding buildings

This was the best experience and my favorite thing about Cambridge. My friends and I decided to go punting on a hot sunny day after afternoon tea, and I m so glad we did!! The tour guide gave us so much information about the university, and made the overall journey enjoyable! (Shoutout to Jessie D!!!) The best part about the tour is that they allow you to bring whatever beverages you want on the boat (including alcohol)!! Sitting in the boat is very relaxing and it s such a great experience. If you re visiting Cambridge this is a MUST do!! They also do a student discount for all my students out there traveling on a budget :) the only downside was that it could be a bit more organized with times and groups.

We recently went on the Lets Go Punting tour around Cambridge and were so lucky to get such a good guide as Matt B. He was so informative, friendly, chatty and funny throughout. We didn't feel he was reciting a script. The tour shows you a different perspective from the bus tour which we did also enjoy. I just wish I could remember half the information given! I would suggest you go out of the busy times, we did a 3.30 slot and it was still quite busy on the river but it was in the run up to Easter.

We booked online and arrived in the map mentioned location. There service was fantastic. We wanted a life jacket for our 3 years old daughter and they managed it asap.

The punting experience was fantastic for the exciting history telling by the friendly crew. It was great in short.

Well, they provided some 20 to 25% off to the local restaurants food and drink which was good as well.

Excellent service and class of professionalism shown by the staff especially on a wet, rainy, gloomy day. Fair play to the staff who were there to offer help and lighten up the mood.
Definately recommend to anyone looking to add this as part of your day trip.

Really nice trip with James as our punt guide. Lots of interesting info about the sights and Cambridge in general including recommendations for places to go, eat and drink. Booking is a bit chaotic and you may have to wait for an available punt trip. Also book online for the best price.

Went on a punting tour this Sunday. Just turned up and got a good price...Arrived early but there wasn't a queue and a couple that arrived last pushed to the front. My friend asked them if we could go in first as we arrived early but they ignored us. Thanks to Hugo - our tour guide we had nice seats which meant a lot to me, it was the last thing my friend wanted me to do on my hendo. Loved every bit of it. On monday we walked to pick up point and was allocated on the next tour. Much quieter than the weekend. A wonderful morning .

Came to Cambridge for a hen do and booked punting for an activity. Our guide was Josh, such a great kid with bundles of enthusiasm and took the (friendly) abuse with good humour. He was really helpful and informative and so keen to entertain us as much as he could. The young lady on the quay side was also really polite and friendly and happily took photos for us and chatted whilst we waited for our time slot. Great fun for all ages and a really reasonable price.

A punting tour is a must do during a visit in Cambridge. I have been living in Cambridge for a year and had several visitors during that time who I always took punting. After talking to a few guides along river side we decided to go with Go Punting because they offered the best prices and most friendliest guides.
We had an amazing time during all tours, it was never boring and we learned much about the history of Cambridge's Colleges and also were told a few funny stories along the trip.

A great relaxing day out! Very knowledgeable guide and stunning scenery- couldn't fault it. Fast easy online booking system. As parking in Cambridge is a bit of nightmare I'd recommend the park and ride as this takes you right into the centre of Cambridge with direct access to the river for punting.

Absolutely wonderful trip along the Cam. It really is the best way to see some of the magnificent buildings and learn about their (sometime hilarious) stories. Harry was brilliant - informative, funny and nicely understated. The whole experience was very well organised and a pleasure from start to finish. We'll definitely be back for another. He made our experience very enjoyable and entertaining with his knowledge of the colleges and historical stories. Would recommend visitors to make the trip on the river as you can see so much more from this view point.

A must do when you go Cambridge. You can go in two different directions we picked towards more countryside route which was a bit quieter and better.
This is amazing and has to be tried at least once.
Can be a little tricky to get used to but another five minutes you will get the hang of it.
Also you will get really nice views.

Had a fabulous time; 3 adults and a 2 year old the afternoon of 31 July, 2018. We had a minor issue with booking on the website, but it was resolved very quickly and professionally by the Sales Coordinator, Caroline. Our chauffeur, Elliott, was knowledgeable and fun. Great service and very knowledgeable chauffeur. Very easy to book on-line and you can book on the day and use e-ticket on you phone straight away! Fabulous! It was a 45 min leisurely trip down the river. Would recommend.

We booked our tickets online in advance for the day and time and would definitely recommend to others to do the same as it can get quite busy on the day. The process was fairly easy. On the day we were allocated a group/boat and the service was good. The guide was knowledgeable and enjoyed his commentary. Definitely recommend.
