I took my dog here for several visits but consistently got the the sense they were just trying to hike my bills up as much as they could. Or maybe they just aren t very knowledgeable. The vet was nice and great with my dog but then just recommended lots of testing with little explanation as to what it information it would provide. I had it done only to be told it s inconclusive, we need more tests . Looking at their yelp reviews, it seems they often recommend echocardiograms (a $600 procedure) which also happened to me after Dr. Putter claimed to hear a heart murmur. I had a cardiac specialist give me a second opinion and he scoffed that a vet would put an older dog through that because he could barely hear a murmur. They also double book appt times which isn t a great sign and makes for long waits in a crowded waiting room. Be on your guard if you decide to go here.
Love this vet. Very caring and will board your pets
Everyone here was very friendly and helpful. They all love pit bulls here and were very accommodating to my dog who can't be around other animals. Just wanted to say thanks to the great staff here for helping out Baby dog!
Simply the best vet on the upper east side any pet would be in great hands and they pick up the phone 24 hrs a day and make house calls when needed. Love this place !
Woah. I mean like woah, these guys are amazing. From the second my boyfriend and I walked in with our 3 month old Bengal we knew we were in the right place.
1) The receptionist, Liz, is an absolute delight. She was so warm and welcoming and made us feel like we were in a safe and happy environment, which we 100% were.
2) Elio (our cat) was able to explore the waiting room (in his harness and leash) and get comfortable with his new surroundings. Best part - they do not double book so you don t have to worry about other animals interacting with yours and potentially making the experience overwhelming.
3) The veterinary technicians are so kind and caring. They were absolute sweethearts and handled Elio so amazingly when they took his temperature and weighed him.
4) Dr. Lawrence Putter is simply an incredible doctor. There was no bullsh*t with him - he didn t try to sell us anything, he didn t try to push unnesecary vaccines/treatments, etc. He was there to make sure our kitten was in good health, happy, and safe. He listened to our concerns, answered all of our questions, and handled Elio with such great care.
I honestly can say this was the most amazing experience I ve ever had at a veterinary office. It s also an extremely clean and very calm and peaceful environment. BEST OFFICE EVER.
Excellent Vet. Was patient caring and knowledgeable with my senior Maltese. So happy I found this Vet.
I've walked in to ask for a question, I received terrible attention in the front desk. They would not even look at my face when I was talking, very very rude!! I left immediately, I would never bring my pet there.
feels like going to a friend. they understand. they listen. they are all great..thank you!
Under no circumstances would I ever recommend Lenox Hill Veterinarians to anyone with a sick or exotic pet. My bunny was in a lot of pain and showing serious signs of illness so I took him here after reading all the amazing reviews. The doctor did a quick examination and told me he wanted to run some tests. Hundreds of dollars worth of tests later I was called and told they were unable to determine what was wrong and wanted to run more tests that would cost a fortune. I asked to see the results of the tests they had run and after asking FIVE TIMES they were unable to give them to me so I'm still not sure they even ran the tests they said they had. As my bunny's condition worsened, I decided to take him to a different vet - The Animal Medical Center (AMC) - where they were able to run a quick test and tell me exactly what was wrong. The bedside manner of the vet at AMC was far superior and comforting every second. I'm amazed that Lenox Hill Veterinarians could possibly advertise as being a vet for exotic animals when they looked at and handled my bunny like they had never seen the species before. To make matters worse, EIGHT MONTHS after taking my bunny to Lenox Hill I get a bill from them charging me for a prescription I never ordered PLUS interest. So to sum up, if you are looking for a vet for a sick or exotic animal, I highly recommend you look elsewhere.
Dr. Putter is an eminently professional, competent and knowledgeable veterinarian. We have worked together through the course of my two dogs spanning some 20 years. He has always provided competent and knowledgeable guidance and assistance and I must say that without his help and that of his staff, neither of my pet's would have fared as well as they did.
Specifically, my second dog has had multiple orthopedic surgeries surgeries and illnesses and without his support and guidance, Calli would have been euthanized long ago.
No issue is too small or unimportant for him not to take notice. He is receptive, supportive and knowledgeable. His bedside manner is soothing and calming. His treatment plans are conservative;. He looks too tree his animals holistically while at the same time appreciates the value of money and the expenses that we as pet owners assume.
It has been my pleasure to have been associated with his practice and I look forward to many more years of collaboration.
Lastly, Dr. Putter knows his professional limitations and surrounds himself with very competent auxiliary personnel. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to find an initial veterinarian or someone looking to change from an existing one.
Your pet will be glad you have met him and so will you.

Efficient and concious of the costs they charge. They always have treats for pets and owners. Full services can be done from blood work and stool tests to fluid injections and medicine dispensing. I use Dr Sanchez, he's new at the Vet but very experienced. They also won't impose their dietry views on you if you follow raw feeding and may offer advice on gaps in diet.
Dr. Tortoriello and Ron took wonderful care of our kitty.
Super vet! Highly recommended. Good location for UES. Long hours and available 7 days a week. Appointments 6 days a week. Friendly staff, minimal paperwork and not a long wait. Coffee in the wait room :-) Terrific doctor, very thorough and not a question unanswered.
Dr. Putter is the kindest vet I know. So skilled, brilliant and thoughtful. He has helped numerous dogs I have fostered as well as my own senior pets. He is thorough, careful and trustworthy and mindful of the financial constraints of clients. He never orders unnecessary work or tests. I could not be more pleased not say enough in supply of this excellent practice.
I've been working with dogs in NYC for 25 years. I've met and worked with many veterinarians. Dr. Putter and Lenox Hill Veterinarians are my favorite, by a wide margin.
I found a cat off the street, and took her here without really knowing what I was getting into. Sonia and Dr. Sanchez were so helpful and kind! I would recommend this office to any of my friends. They scanned for a microchip, called the previous owner, and gave her a wellness check. The previous owner had no interest in keeping the cat, so they sprung into action, assisting me with what paperwork I need as a knew owner.. At the end of the visit, they gave me a cat carrier and cat toy at no cost to me. I was not expecting that! Its great to see that they actually care about finding proper homes for the animals of NYC.
Dr. Putter is wonderful and compassionate. Great staff.
Been going here for 6 years and we love the staff and Dr putter! He is such a great vet with vast knowledge. We feel very comfortable at Lenox hill and the staff is amazing and friendly
One of the employees of LHV, who lives on E 82nd St. has persisted in feeding pigeons on our block on a grand scale. She has been asked many times to stop yet she continues to thumb her nose at her neighbor s requests even as we have become subject to an infestation of rats and other vermin as a result of her behavior. As an employee of LHV she should be well aware of the dangers and health hazards of proliferating the presence of vermin. SHE JUST WON T STOP. As a result we the citizens of BLOCK 82 will be organizing a boycott of Lenox Hill Veterinarians demanding the termination of this employee. We regret holding LHV responsible for the behavior of one of their employees but this individual has left us no choice.
Dr Putter and Liz helped my senior pup who got suddenly very sick. They fit us in same day (twice!) were extremely thorough, ran numerous tests and spend time discussing care with me. I truly appreciated their attention to detail, how gently they treated my dog, and how communicative they were with me. I couldn t recommend them more!
Dr. Putter is caring, conservative, responsive and thorough. Could not ask for anyone better. Highly recommend him!
Professional, caring and prompt. Would give Dr. Putter and his amazing team six stars if I could!!
Amazing Team. I rushed my large dog in for Xylitol poisoning and the staff not only saved my dogs life by immediately dropping everything to attend to her but they brought her to full recovery over her 3 day hospital stay. They had medication rushed over from an ER vet on the westside and a technician stayed overnight with our dog 3 nights to monitor her and take care of her. Wonderful staff, kind and I believe they know what they are doing. I can't say enough good things about this practice. And their prices are reasonable and fair and they don't charge unnecessarily high fees just because it's NY.
