Great location and friendly staff make e street my go to for after work movies!
Shows movies That You Don't See in other movie theaters. The theaters are a bit too small. Has some exceptionally good wine for a movie theater! Popcorn is mediocre even if they offer three different types of seasoning to put on top.
Cool downstairs theatre for indie and art films. Good concessions with beer and great snacks.
My favorite Indie-film (independent) theater in DC.
Concession stand downstairs has a bar serving good quality mixed drinks.
A very relaxing place :)
Usually better movie selection. I always check what's playing when I'm in D.C.
Great venue that's very TARDIS-esque. Wonderful layout with great amenities.
Chairs from the 1990s could feel the springs coming through. Not what you would expect.
Nice cozy theater! Offers a level of hospitality I have never before experienced in a theater
Funky arthouse theater with a pretty great concessions offering. When I got Movie Pass, I thought I would be going to see a ton of blockbuster films at the bigger corporate chains, but mostly I've just gone to see some fun indie flicks at E Street Cinema. Love the vibe and the selection.
First time at E Street Cinema, and was pleasantly surprised. Nice theatre.
Best popcorn in DC! They use real butter and I'm not a popcorn fan. Of course I like independent movies.
My first time visiting this theatre, I felt it was kinda tucked away
Finding it via google maps is tricky! Great theatre!
One of my favorite theaters...they show a lot of independent and foreign films. Staff are great and the entire place is clean.
the reason I didnt give E Street Cinema all 5 Stars is because the movie selection is very skimp and almost weird. No matter how controversial the movie or how many people rave about it, E Street Cinema will not play it. I have been able to catch two movies at this theater, but It's hard to continue to come back when there arent many interesting options like a normal theater.
The concession is definitely one of a kind. very impressed and I like the fact that the theaters are small.
Great indie movies. Prices are high for food, and parking in a lot is expensive.
Small theaters, great movies. Wine choices pretty good, food heavy (it's a movie house).
Favorite theater in DC. If you're looking for Star Wars part XXV, Superman, or some teen comedy this place is not for you. Shows many foreign movies, smaller indie and art films and old classics. Few children or teens here which is a relief. Small cafe serves cocktails beer and wine.
One of the few DC theaters with consistently interesting title selection. More independent and foreign films than anywhere else nearby. Beer and wine (good selection but high prices) and standard seats (not the fancy new recliners, or leather, but hey it's a movie theater, not your family room).
Came to see the 7AM Documentary by Jason Black. This was my first time there. Was very surprised. The place didn't look that spacious on the outside. It was very clean. Good service. Even had a networking event afterward. Definitely coming back.
I need to spend more time at the cinema
This place does its best to accommodate everyone's experience
Tricky stairs for the handicapped
I believe they must have an elevator somewhere
Great theater that always has Independent - type films to choose from. They also offer beer and wine to enjoy!
Generally nice cinema which shows some films you can t find elsewhere. Ticket prices are very good. Only issue really is that it s not clear when films are being released: i has to google around a lot to figure out when I could watch official secrets. Good central location near metro center.
Renovated Cinema. It s beautiful! Wonderful and friendly staff. Great selection for snacks and drinks. The viewing rooms are small, but cozy. Seats are comfortable and old school - no recliners here, which I didn t mind. An easy 3 minute walk from Metro Center.
I love coming here every awards season to see nominated movies. The Short films collections are a special treat.
It is not for newly released movies. More like indi movies and more like directors cut movie than just hollwwood money money movies
Very clean and very modern movie theater. Full bar and plenty of snacks at the concession stand. Only thing keeping this from being the best theater ever is reclining seats.
Very nice, upscale movie experience. Staff isn't the most professional, but they eventually get the job done. Food is a bit pricey but much better options than a traditional theater. The movie offerings are wonderful, focusing on cult classics and indie films that you'd otherwise never get to see in person.
I visited the nearby museums and stopped by the parasite screening here. The chair is not so good
I felt uncomfortable because I felt the spring
I'm not going to hear you again.
Love this cinema. Best part is that it's subterranean = extra cool in summer and no cell phone reception for annoying people who text during movies
E Street cinema always has the movies I enjoy. They are beyond the ordinary films. A great cinema experience.
The programming here is top notch - it's really a great theater for movie buffs. The concessions are also superb, including their wine and cocktail selection.
Great art theater with a good selection of beer and wine.
Always great films, always great experience #filmfestdc2018
Unless a really interesting Hollywood film comes out (like Star Wars), this is the only movie theater I go to in DC. It has a good mix of popular indie films, although I think it used to show more underground and foreign stuff back-in-the-day. But, generally: accessible location, cheap tickets, great atmosphere, robust snack selection, great film selection, never too crowded, often has director and really cool midnight screenings...I could go on. I try to go at least once a week, but, depending on the depth of quality films out , I sometimes indulge myself with an extra matinee. It's worth it. It's my go-to chill out spot/recluse away the hectic jungle that is DC professional life.
Best theater to go to in DC. Warm, cozy, friendly, entertaining.
Much bigger than it looks outside. Caught a great independent film mid-week but looks like there's a variety. The theatre we were in was small but it felt intimate in a good way and every seat was a pretty good seat. Seat cushions could be updated but I will return for the great customer service.
Last, parking was a little confusing. Apparently, they validate from a parking deck around the corner on 11th St but parking attendant said that was weekends, not weekdays. Weekday deck $12 or street parking.
Only one set of restrooms that are not with the theatres. You have to go back out past where your ticket was taken. No reserved seating. No recliner seats.
This theater is wonderful. I love going to the monthly midnight screenings of The Room. Very low key place.
Downtown, accessible, independent films, Junior Mints next to an artisan cheese plate at concessions. Films that aren t playing anywhere else in DC (save for the Uptowner). It s one of the best places to slip into after work during the week on a rainy day (super busy on the weekends for obvious reasons, i.e. the antithesis of Regal Cinemas at Gallery Place). Also, I drank a Magic Hat #9 out of a plastic cup with a straw. Yes, yes I did. Tip: book your tickets ahead of time online through their website (not on Fandango).
Wish the screens were bigger. Drinks are way too expensive. 12 bucks for a bottled beer?
Hear this is the only art house theater in town. Seat had a spring sticking out of it. Bottle of wine was expensive as hell.
Small theaters with a good food selection and always slated with top films.
Nice arthouse with enough screens you can see what you'd like as a walk up usually. Good snack options, the fastest concession line I've seen, and genuinely kind staff.
Saw the Oscar Nominated Animated films. Very crowded. Be sure to put your phone in airplane mode while in the underground auditorium or you will get a dead battery.
Good location, good movies, and nice staff, but theaters are dated and sight lines inside them can be bad. My friend made us move seats once to get a better view and almost made us move again until the guy in front of us moved over one.
Friendly downtown Washington DC movie theater...Offers cocktails. I like a cocktail while enjoying a good movie...The Landmark theatre always has an excellent movie selection. And foreign films.
Great theater with independent films. Have a good variety of independent films in a number of theaters with comfy seats. Conveniently located near metro center and chinatown.
Usually shows independent and artsy movies, very clean, has great consessions, but the restroom is located kind of far from the theatres.
Clean, Comfortable seats, Professional staff and Management.
Beauty theatre. Very clean. A wonderful atmosphere.
Great place to see an independent movie!! I went to see "Theory of Everything" and the small room actually made the movie better. Also the employees were attentive, upbeat, and very helpful.
Great indie (mostly) films, great concessions, and great vibes from all the staff.
Woman in front used her phine to text alk through movie & security, which wss in the screening, did nothing.
Great films, great snacks. Typical art house cinema, if you're not familiar with the Landmark chain. Thinking people stuff. Just walk in and pick something.
Great place to watch movies that also shows great movies.
There are only a handful of places in the DC area where you can see foreign and indie films. This is the most conveniently located for me because it's close to both the Blue and Yellow Metro lines. The seats are comfortable but don't recline, making it more likely that I'll stay awake for the entire film. It would be nice if they had a special senior day or other little perks to compete with other theaters.
Cool, funky old theater playing some indie films and some new releases.
The theatre is always a good experience. It has plenty of food and drink options. It is always reliable to provide my Indie films that don't show in the other theatres. There typically aren't many crowds and every time I've gone I've never had a problem with noise or people on their phone during the movie
Landmark is a good place to see independent movies in the District. It will need to be updated to match its sister theatres in seating but they have a good selection of more upscale movie food like the others. If you are meeting someone there, stay upstairs. Cell phones don't work once you go down.
Join the film club to be invited to exclusive screenings.
Good location, above average food and drinks selection.
Cozy plus drinks before the movie! Keep frequenting art house cinemas......
Always a great selection of artsy films and decent concessions
Just a a normal movie theater. Nothing extraordinary. What I don't like about it is the fact that you can't book your seat in advance.
Love it's location. But screens are smallish, candy selection limited, popcorn over salted, bathrooms inconvenient location.
Lots of activities for all ages, and beautiful architecture!
Probably the best crowd I've ever had at a screening.
The venue itself is nice, and surprisingly spacious given that it's DC.
One thing that seems a bit odd, the style and decor doesn't seem to commit to anything. Occasionally you'll see classic movie posters on display, but they don't paper the walls like at an Alamo Drafthouse. Nor does it go with a movie palace look that you'd find at other classic theaters. It's a halfhearted blend of the 2.
Given that my only complaint is about the decor of this place, it's well worth spending your time and money there.
Great space to grab indie flicks or catch a film festival. Smaller theatres feel more intimate. Easy access from metro and very walkable area with good bites in the vicinity
Great theater with lots of snack options. Because it's in a basement you lose phone service
I'm giving this five stars bc of its location, film choices, events, and staff, but... I really prefer picking my seat ahead of time, there's no WiFi or cell service downstairs, and the bathrooms are really far from the theaters.
