This place shows many independent and foreign films as well as some of the new releases. They also show classic films such as Casablanca, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Big Trouble in Little China. Classics for every generation! Don't expect stadium auditoriums, this is an old school theatre albeit with a full bar along with the usual concessions. While I still go to the big chains to see certain movies (some things just need to been seen in IMAX), I come here often to see lesser known films and support a local chain. Give them a chance, you'll like them.

It's a decent theatre that shows some independent and foreign films. The concession stand has lots of variety, like a crab pretzel, gourmet popcorn and teas. The only thing missing is reclining seats.

Right in the heart of downtown, come through here for fantastic arthouse/indie films you won't find in the other multiplexes. Costs are comparable to a mainstream cinema, but with added menu options of craft beer/wine and snacks. Also some great one off events and fun screenings.

It's a great little theatre. I saw The Notorious RBG. One of the directors was there and answered some questions after the documentary. That was a nice touch that you don't usually get at the bigger theatres.

Cool indie theatre with foreign and mainstream movies. Vegan and healthy snack options. Seats are moderately comfortable (no recliner) but set up like an old school theatre (all the same floor); great for a nostalgic date!

Great theater to see indie films. Good selection of movie times, excellent snack bar, and nice movie seating. The best place to see indie films in DC. Also has a Rocky Horror Picture Show screening which is fun!

The theater itself is super small, which is fine, though the screen is super high up with the seating too close so you have to crane your neck upwards even in the back row. I understand the actual movie theater doesn't need to be big, because it's an independent movie theater and all... But I was sitting right next to a pole that I KNOW blocked some views. As an architect, I can say the place could have been better arranged.

Very clean theatre, friendly staff reasonable prices. This theatre is also huge, not sure how many screens there are but it is several stories. Clean bathrooms also...that is worth big in my book. Nothing worse than a awfull theatre bathroom. This place is definitely a four thumbs up, and a recommendations to friends. Keep up the good work!

Fair warning. I gave it a VG on facilities b/c this place is usually freezing. Bring a coat!

So here is a smack in the middle of downtown Indie theater that does Indie theaters right. They have foreign films, documentaries, and some really good sundace/cannes/etc festival winners as well as some lesser known pictures going on. I remember watching Submarine here while having a beer at my seat. Yep! Beer at the seat. They have a full bar! As well as good food and a coffee bar for the responsible movie goer.

The seating is general, not stadium, but this hasn't been a problem at all. All theaters are small and only hold so many people but I've never seen them fill up or get over crowded. There's always plenty of room and the people who attend these movies are very respectful to other goers and won't be annoying like the kids over at Chinatown's Regal.

Another warning. You'll most likely have 0 cell reception, which is good, because you shouldn't be the idiot flashing your phone around during the movie!

So all in all, if you enjoy movies and you enjoy the fact that they treat it with an adult manner, then you'll really like this place.

This place shows movies I can't find anywhere else and there's a parking garage right underneath so no worries about searching for parking which can be a nightmare driving in from the burbs. Don't forget to take your parking ticket with you so you can get it validated in the theater. There's a full bar inside. I brought in a mocha from outside and they didn't give me any trouble about it. The staff is very personable.

A cinema mainly showing mini theaters. It is not good, but it is very appreciated by Japanese residents and Japanese enthusiasts because it often screens new Japanese films popular in Japan. It is inconvenient that screens, shops, lounges and bars other than the ticket counter are hardly radio waves underground.

Pretty cool theater. They play mostly foreign and indie flicks. It's not the most up to date theater in the area, but they have a good bar selection. If you're looking to see a more recent indie movie they'll probably have it.

This theater is very cool! The movies/films/documentaries shown here are all so good that you could pick something at random and be satisfied with the experience. The location is much larger than its outer facade would have you believe. You can't reserve a seat, so getting tickets early and showing up early might be the thing for you if you're picky about seats, or on the shorter side. There change in vertical height for the rows is small, so you could be stuck with someone's head blocking a portion of the screen. Alcohol is served here, and there are free flavored powdered toppings for your popcorn. I'm looking forward to my next trip!

This is one of my favorite places to see independent films. The seats are comfy and the whole theater is clean. The staff is friendly and they often have cut outs for movies that you can take a picture in. The seats are not reclining seats and are still very comfy.

Theatre hosts lots of big name productions as well as niche art films. Screen size is respectable and clear. They serve beer/wine which is always a plus. And best of all there is no cell phone service once you descend the escalator! Definitely a better option than the Regal in chinatown.

Best spot in town for indie flicks & midnight movies (Rocky Horror!). Excellent concessions with alcohol, slushies, and hot chocolate. Super-friendly staff. No mobile reception, which is widely hailed as E Street's single greatest trait.

I love coming here ever sense I was in high school or earlier. Its clean and a friendly environment. Its not over done like the Regal Cinemas we all know were its over packed by people and over priced tickets plus food. You also get to see movies well great movies that you literally won't get to see in other movie theaters. I recently saw Breadwinner and The Shape of Water two great movies very knowledgeable. Both movies are not playing in the other theaters that's been overly promotional or endorsed by the media. You can also have a nice drink as well for anyone who wants to wine down. Although once your in your seat no cellphone reception at all, which is great no interruptions.

Great theater and variety of snacks. The theater is always clean and well-maintained. I highly recommend the monthly midnight movies. Unfortunately, the staff is horrible when it comes to customer service.

I like this theatre. I went here for the first time for a free screening. I've past this place so many times and never really notice it. It's nice and clean here. Popcorn was good! Nacho cheese and pizza could've been better. Other than that, I recommend coming here! This is coming from a true Washingtonian!!!

After living in DC for 7+ years, I can say this is my favorite theater in DC. It's in downtown DC near Chinatown so it has that city feel to it. They play more independent, interesting movies and it's at a slightly cheaper price than nearby commercial Regal Cinema. You walk in, buy your ticket, and then go downstairs to the concession stands. This is where you feel like you're in someone's home. The food options go beyond and better than your normal theater food choices and they offer hard cider, wine, and beer (AWESOME!). The theaters themselves aren't super big so it feels a little more like home. Before your movie starts, an employee personally welcomes you to the show (great touch).

Warning: If you have AT&T you won't get cell service once you go down the escalators. You shouldn't be on your cell any way in a theater, but FYI in case you need to renew Park Mobile, etc. while there.

We love Landmark. Convenient location, friendly service, and access to films that aren't shown in many places. The full bar is a fun perk, although we've never taken advantage of it. Nice to have options beyond the usual.

Indy films, tasty bites, and a full bar!? Yes, please. Just be sure you don't wait on the wrong line for getting into the theater once you're downstairs. They don't manage line queuing very well. Also, only one bathroom, so go before the movie, or you could be walking a long way back to the stairs by the lobby entrance.
