With all the movie theaters around with reclinable seats this one feels a little bit outdated and not so comfortable, but it's still a nice option Downtown Washington and more important: they screen some movies that you won't find anywhere else in town.

This is a wonderful theatre. Comfortable seats and an amazing collection of snacks and libations - including a pretty-well-stocked bar. We attended the DC Shorts Film Festival here so spent 14 hours watching short films: point being that we got a pretty-good exposure - and really enjoyed it. Note that there is generally no phone reception while in the theatre area: it's downstairs and phone signals don't get thru, but you shouldn't be on your phone while you're watching movies anyway. :)

Awesome cinema that shows lesser-known movies. Went to see Your Name here when it was released in the US. They serve alcohol at a steep price, but hey, it is a movie theater. A nice getaway from the megaplex.

My favorite theater in D.C. It's just around the corner from Ford's Theatre. The seating is old-school, not the huge reclining chairs you see in the new mega theaters. What makes this place great is that the theaters are small and have a very intimate vibe. And they always have the most interesting, lesser publicized films. You can walk in as any time of day and pick something you've never heard of and chances are it will be fantastic. Friendly staff with concession stand that serves alcohol along with normal movie items. The only restroom is outside the lobby and it can be a long walk from your theater, so go before the show.

Great place for independent films and host of lots of film festivals. Although kids are there it's not too often. It's definitely a theater more for adults. There's a nice bar with a variety of drinks and concessions has way more than your typical movie theater snacks.

We seem to end up here most weekends. Favorite memory when my friend Claudia dressed up like Amy Winehouse for the opening show of Amy ! I also love that the audiences are usually very mature.

Going to this theater has been in my DC must do list for quite a while.....finally got to catch a fun movie with my kid... In a World.....theater did not disappoint....I am not a movie goer, instead enjoying being comfortable in my own home...but the great atmosphere, eclectic choice of good and wine will bring me back before long....it's not just going to a movie, it's an evening.

Great indie film theatre. Located mostly underground. Great concessions, cocktails and beer are available as well as movie theater staples. Theater was smaller and had great sound and crisp picture. Bathrooms were very clean.

The Landmark Theater group gets most of my business! The E Street location is close to Metro Center stop and nearby shopping and restaurants. I suggest purchasing your tickets online prior because shows sell out and we have been disappointed - once! The concessions are really good and offer a good variety, including beer and wine. Comfy seats, too! Check out West End location for their Capital Classics.

Nice, independent movie house. Great bar and food options, though the bar stands out more with Italian sodas, a fully stocked bar, and many regional wines. Bathrooms aren't that great, they always seem just a bit messy which is the status quo for movie theaters.

One of the greatest independent theaters of our time. This place captures the novelty of cinemas of yore when going to the movies was a classy affair. After entering, you go down a flight of stairs to the theaters, but don t be so hasty to sit down that you pass up the concessions area. This place has a fantastic selection of treats and snacks, including many healthy options. I like their iced coffee which is very reasonably priced.

This theater has great sound and auditoriums that are on the small side but still adequate. I like the selection of movies as some of the other "art house" type movie theaters in the area seem to be pretty heavy on the big-budget mainstream movies. The E Street Cinema will play some of those movies as well, but it still manages to play quite a few of the smaller budget and independent films as well. This place serves alcohol as well as popcorn. The service, like the service in many other movie theaters, can be unbelievably slow. The staff here is very courteous and service-oriented. The theater is clean from the lobby to the seats in the auditoriums to the bathrooms.

The best thing about this theater is that they don't play video advertisements for the entire time leading up to the movie, like some other theater chains. You can actually have a conversation or a thought of your own.

Mostly thoughtfully selected films. Recently pushed up a bit with improved seating. Yay, as well as good drinks including beer and a unique effort to provide specialty foods (beyond the obvious) which brings them to five stars. A diverse and smart audience. Some nights at Landmark that are arguably artsy and a great refresh from Regal. Recommened.

Old theater that has seen some refurbishment and looks all the better for it. Very clean with a very polite and professional staff. Although it's a casual place, they made me feel as though I was somewhere upscale. There is no stadium seating or reclining seats and no reserved seating either. For those of us who grew up without these amenities in movie theaters, you won't be put off by the lack of them here. This place just simply has too much charm and character. Great place to catch a movie alone or for date night.

Lovely upscale movie theatre that shows a curated selection of award winning and popular movies. Definitive date night location! Best part: cocktails and beers on tap that you can bring in with you.

The venue was lovely, big and spacious. There was only one other viewer in the theatre, in addition to me and my friend, so it made for a private-feeling experience. Location is accessible from the Gallery-place metro station, and signage makes it easily identifiable.

Four stars because my credit card didn't work at the entrance for the first three tries, and then didn't work at the concession either. I used the same card earlier that day and immediately after the theatre without a hitch, so it seemed to be a machine issue. The concession attendant was upset about trying the card a second time, although no other customers were in line.

Shows less mainstream movies in an older theatre setting. They have a good number of local and craft beers and wines at the concessions. It's a fun and relaxed place to see a good movie. As a note, the area with the theatres has no cell signal, so no interruptions but having someone come meet you can be tricky
