This is a great place! The first time I went the parking was crazy, so we had to park out on the street and walk a little ways. The main hike up to Dunafon Castle is relatively short and easy and a fun hike along a river. You can get a pretty good view of the castle across the river.

I came back a few weeks later and the parking wasn t bad at all. We went tubing this time, and that was also fun.

The trail offers everything. A great meadow with a stream. It then goes into a mountain climb with a gorgeous panoramic view. You can determine the hike best suited for you. It's easily accessible from Denver.

Grab a map before you hit the trail! While many trails are marked, there are a few game trails that can be deceptive and lead you to a dead end. You will have a beautiful hike anyway you take, go get lost!

One of my top 3 places to go for a hike with my dogs. There's plenty of parking and different trails for an easy hike or a long mountain bike ride. The river is gorgeous that goes along the lower trails.

Really enjoyed Bear Creek trail. We didn't do all of it, but it was quite a trek. The snow made it a bit of a challenge for me at times, even though it is a flat trail because I am not used to snow coming from a hot state. I would definitely love to come back and do a more challenging trail.

Great place to take kids. We hiked along the creek for a few miles, brought lunch with us. Had a great time. It's not far from Denver maybe 30-40minute drive from Downtown. Mountain bikes are allowed so keep the little ones close. Plenty of parking on a busy day. Also bring your water shoes theres spots where you can get in the creek. Take your trash with you and keep Colorado beautiful!

Beautiful, close by park with wonderful trails along stream/river, up side of mntn and around park grounds. Open to hikers and bikers. Leashed dogs welcome. Many picnic tables and grills. Family friendly. Clean facilities. Connects to series of parks and trails. Met lots of great people!

Its a very pretty view and lots of trees ,water and the trail is long. I would recommend to get there as early as possible so you can find parking otherwise you will have to park on the street and hike to the park.

Really great spot for families as it's pretty flat and accessible to pretty much everyone. A pleasant steam follows much of the trail. Although there's ample parking it's popularity can leave very like open spots if you get there late in the day. Plan to drop your party near the trailhead and then drive back towards the entrance to find parking along the road. Obey the no parking signs; they're quick to issue tickets.

The Bear Creek trail has excellent shade and good elevation gain with a few interesting rocky spots for a change of pace. The parking lot fills up quickly on weekends, and there is very limited rogue overflow parking on the main road. I'd suggest arriving by 9 in the summer. Great option for hiking, running, and mountain biking. There is a lot of signage encouraging bikes to yield, and we had good experiences as hikers. If you are going to ride, consider a bell, especially a continuous one like the TimberBell.

Lair of the hair is one of my favorite places to walk my dog. It's an awesome view. The only rough thing is parking. If you don't show up super early ,plan on parking on the side of the road. I feel like it's sketchy with my dog. So I try to show up early. There's restrooms at the trail head ,nothing glamorous but very convenient.

This used to be wonderful flat trail for a family hike with children, but it's been completely over run by bikes. You can barely go 100 yards without being almost knocked off the trail by a bike flying by without warning. There is a sign at the entrance asking bikers to slow down and warn others, but only about 10% even attempted this.

Decided to hike to a Castle since the colors of fall have left us. I should've looked up if it were permissable to walk the castle grounds (its not). Other than that, it was great. There was a volunteer hiking the grounds and was telling people information and handing out trail maps. I thought that was awesome. The bathrooms are SO CLEAN!! I've never been impressed with park bathrooms but these are literally so well maintained I had to mention it. Cordial hikers, Mtn Bikers and trail runners. Quartz all over the trails makes it feel magical. I reccommend plotting your trail so you don't end up going up 7 miles and having to turn around. LOL. It's easy to get on a hike you weren't expecting. Beautiful Scenery with the creek and gulch. Its a must go location.

Great park for picnics and easy hikes close to Denver. Just like all the other parks near Denver parking fills up quick here. There is a nice bike station at the bear creek trailhead, and the restrooms are clean.
