Good to average Mediterranean fare. I've only eaten here when others have wanted to come, but I have tried variety of dishes. I can't say I ever had a craving for or wanted to retry anything I've had here tho.

The quiche of the day is always mushroom quiche because they found that the mushroom quiche was so good that there was no reason to change it.

La Med is kind of the perfect place to go with parents or visitors. It's nice and has a nice and pleasant atmosphere, but it's not super expensive or super fancy.

This place always surprises me. It looks kind of old and run down but the food is always delicious. My favorite dish to get is thire pomegranate drumsticks. The hummus is a little salty. But I love their potato salad.

Friendly service, food is consistent and, outside dining space is enjoyable in almost all weather. It's one of our go to places when we want to eat outside and take the pup. We're partial to a few dishes although when we have ventured to try other items, generally are happy.

The food is great as is the staff. They're also accommodating to folks that want to order a la carte. However, as has been the case for many years, the chairs, at least in the Berkeley location, are in desperate need of an upgrade as they're hard, uncomfortable and little rickety.

Ordered delivery through Caviar and they let me know 1 hour later that they can't do catering. I ask if they can bring the food in individual dishes and they say yes. Exact same order after 1 hour, they held it for 1 hour because they didn't have a big container to serve it. Super disappointing.

I have eaten at La Mediteranee twice since it was recently sold. Sadly, the quality of the food is not the same. The filo spinach rolls are not as light and crispy as they were for years. The spinach filling is heavy and too moist. The vegetarian soup of which I've had two different ones, a lentil and a mushroom cream, were not good. I did not finish either. The lentil was watery and almost tasteless. The cream of mushroom was heavy, thick and gelatinous cream. It is not the kind of soup that the vegetarian people I know in Berkeley want as an option. And heavy cream cuts out vegans. I hope the new owners make adjustments back to the old recipes because Le Med has been a favorite for me and many others for years and years.

The filos are what I usually get. The salad dressing is super good. Waiters very nice. I don t like the food as much as I did before ownership change a year or so ago . Even the hummus changed noticeably. Parking can be tough. There is a pay lot behind. The neighborhood is very safe.

An unusual niche cuisine. A fusion of Greek Turkish Armenian and Persian dishes. I had a lamb kabob which was delicious. It was served with a chilled cucumber yogurt soup, rice and vegetables. I'll go back again when I'm in Berkeley next.

We have been going here for many years for our favorite dishes. But since ownership has changed so has the quality. Our fillo main courses were dry and less flavorful-something was missing. The dishes are no longer served with the fresh fruit. Everything was served on plastic plates. The house wine was different-almost seemed watered down-definitely lower quality than before. We are so disappointed that one of our favorite restaurants is no longer a choice for us.

The food was really good. But the service was hit or miss. Many different people dropped off this or that if we snagged them as walked by or glanced from a far. Strange how we had to prod for more water or napkins in desperation seeing at lease 6 runners on the floor circulating. Method to some madness I guess.

The food reminded us a bit of the plane. Many different things were served on a plate. The flavors were a bit disappointing for us. The service was very friendly and the restaurant was nicely decorated.

The food here was great. Though the meal I got (Mediterranean plate) was a bit expensive at $14.95, it was incredibly tasty and portioned just right. The outdoor seating is great for nice weather days (pretty common around here).

This is the best place to eat in the bay area. Indisputable. Do yourself a favor and just eat here. I came back from living in Texas for 20 years and it was everything I remembered it could be.

If you're looking for a restaurant that offers authentic Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine, La Mediterranée is the perfect place for you. Located in the heart of Berkeley's Elmwood community, this family-owned restaurant has been serving award-winning dishes since 1982.

La Mediterranée has consistently been voted as “Best Middle Eastern” and “Best Mediterranean” in the San Francisco Bay Area. This recognition is a testament to their commitment to providing high-quality food that satisfies even the most discerning palates.

Another must-try dish at La Mediterranée are their kebabs which are made with marinated meats like chicken or lamb grilled over an open flame until they're tender and juicy. They also offer vegetarian options like grilled eggplant or tofu kebab served with rice pilaf or couscous.

For those who love pastry desserts filled with nuts & honey syrup will enjoy fillo pastries stuffed with pistachios or walnuts drizzled in sweet syrup called baklava.

The ambiance at La Mediterranée is warm and inviting making it ideal for intimate dinners or group gatherings alike. The decor features colorful tiles on walls & floors along with beautiful hanging lamps creating an atmosphere reminiscent of traditional Mediterranean homes.

In addition to dine-in service, they also offer catering services for events such as weddings & corporate meetings where guests can enjoy delicious food prepared by experienced chefs using fresh ingredients sourced locally whenever possible.
