A step inside La Grotta is like a step back in time with exceptional service and good food. The seafood is always fresh and pasta homemade. We especially enjoyed the jumbo Mediterranean shrimp. Mangiare!

I call this outstanding place many times as I like the good mood that is exist in this restaurant. The crew is exceptionally cordial and qualified. The service is exceptionally quick. Not to mention, the food you eat is magnificent. I have been there often and I was always satisfied. The expense is decent. I recommend this place to all my friends.
Good food, wonderful atmosphere, but horrible service. I had a reservation for two on a Wednesday, two weeks ago. The restaurant was very busy and they did not have our table ready, so our options were to either wait at the bar or sit outside, which was fine with us to be fair. The problem was that everyone was literally running around, creating a somehow hostile environment. We got a server that barely said a word throughout the whole evening - not sure if he even spoke english well - I couldn't tell, as again, he barely spoke to us. It almost seemed like they ran out of staff and got some random people from the street to do the serving (there were other waiters who seemed to know what they were doing, serving the table next to us, so I guess you just have to get the right table). The guy was not rude or anything, but very sloppy, unfriendly, and always in a hurry. We definitely did not get the "fine dining" experience we were looking for. Very disappointing!
Great wine list, when truffle is in season you need to go. Caprese or carapaccio appetizers worth the visit alone. Could use a wider selection of gins.
We pulled up to a very suspicious looking old apartment building but the moment we were greeted by the friendly and helpful valet driver, we knew we were in the right spot. To be fair, my boyfriend and I, being in our early 30s, brought the average age for a Tuesday night out here, up by about a decade! But that didn t bother us too much, the older crowd can sometimes be in a on secret that is we lads chasing fad dining might not even know exist! The evening started at the bar with a delicious cocktail, followed by quickly being seated 1/2hr before our reservation, out on the nice patio seating area for a lovely spring evening of outdoor dining. The bread was good but the olives here are worth the mention. They were delicious and I m that girl who never eats the olives! We are them all.
The waiter, having only 6 days of experience (we d come to find out later), was so wonderful and helpful when we were taking in the large menu. We ordered the prosciutto and melon, which was so very delicious, some of the best meat either of us had tried before and the melon, perfectly sweet to balance it out. Our waiter suggested the risotto as a second app, because we simply couldn t decide what to order for dinner, which neither of us regretted! The risotto was tender and rich, just enough to make us hungry for more! My boyfriend ordered the Sacchetti, on recommendation of the waiter that this dish shouldn t be missed...he could not have been more right about this dish! The pasta pockets of deliciousness will fill my dream until the time I get to try it again! So full of flavors and perfectly complemented cheeses and truffle flavors. Mind you, I hate a truffle flavor that becomes the only thing you taste, even loving mushrooms, but this was perfect. And the crunch of the walnuts, devine! You. Must. Try. This. Dish.
I ordered the Veal, Scaloppine di Vitello alla Grotta, which was also very tasty, the marsala sauce, so good! However, to be perfectly honest, I only wished I too had ordered the Sacchetti!
Needing no convincing we also order the housemade Tiramisu. WITH NO regrets! Perfectly fluffy and wonderfully presented. The only thing I regret is not taking more pictures! I love sharing my eating adventures via my Instagram, but I was so wonderfully distracted by my perfect date and the delicious food that I forgot all about my pictures. I m thankful this place is less than five miles from my house! I will definitely return and hopefully with more friends to show what a gem we have in this restaurant!
What an amazing experience! This restaurant is tucked away in Buckhead in the bottom floor of a residence. This restaurant has been around for 41 years with the original chef! We had snails, quail, and the lobster pasta. Each was delicious and just the right about of filling. The staff is extremely kind and humorous. The decor and ambiance is welcoming.
I d suggest going during the week to avoid crowds but you won t be disappointed.
The mussels on the appetizer menu are perfect, and my main course of lobster pasta was devine. Expect great service and a even better meal.

A local institution. Your first visit is a little confusing, take the elevator to the garden level and you ll see! First time visiting in a year and we sure have missed this place and the fantastic staff. Enjoyed the mushroom risotto with black truffles as a shared appetizer and the lobster paparadelle, but I have never had a bad meal here. Save room for dessert!

Always enjoy La Grotta. The food, the staff, everyone contributes to every amazing experience eating there. The kitchen does a marvelous job with every plate that comes out of it, so I have fallen in love with every meal. I highly recommend trying La Grotta if you're looking for a mouthwatering meal and a perfect night out.

Fabulous experience here at La Grotta. We had gone there on our anniversary night. My wife and I being vegetarians were a little skeptical about the menu but our dietary preferences were accommodated so well and provided a great dining experience. Grilled portobello mushrooms and sacchetti are a must try for vegetarians visiting this place.
The thing that bothered me the most was the restaurant's point of sale system was unable handle checks per person, unless stated up front that there are individual checks. You will have to either have one person pay or split it evenly.
If you are not dressed appropriately, you will be asked to sit outside on the patio if there is room. Even if you have a reservation. Not a bad thing since the patio is really nice. I'm going on a limb and say dogs are not welcome.

The menu is extensive, and there is also an "off the menu" menu and they can make you whatever you want thing too. Basically, if you've got money, they'll turn it into food.
The tiramisu didn't really do it for me. I found it to be thick and heavy, almost like I was eating a cake. The plating was stellar however.
I found the pasta to be good; it had a discernable difference between lower end Italian dining pasta but I didn't find it uniquely different from other high end Italian restaurants. I will say the sauces had my tongue and stomach singing. One in particular was the short rib au jus sauce.
I had a stuffed chicken breast and the chicken was a bit dry. My plate did come warm, which is something I don't see many places do that I appreciate.
I'd like to come back to try other dishes, however the pricing is a bit high. I'd recommend this place if you can pay to play.

I love this place. The last two times I've been in Atlanta it's been my go-to. The service is always stellar, from prompt friendly waitstaff to food that comes out of their kitchen surprisingly fast. The food is absolutely top quality. I've yet to try something that isn't great. They have a great Italian wine list, too. Be sure to try their tiramisu or panacotta for dessert, too.
A note about how to get their. Valet your car at the door (it's free) of what appears to be an apartment complex for retirees. Go in to the lobby to the right, then take the elevator down to the basement.

We were visiting from TN for the weekend and chose La Grotta for my husband's birthday dinner (thanks to a recommendation I read on Reddit). Service was wonderful and the food was excellent. I had the sacchetti with black truffles and hubby got the steak with gorgonzola - My pasta was SO delicious I seriously contemplated licking the leftover sauce from my plate but that would have been inappropriate. Will 100% be coming back to this restaurant anytime we are back in Atlanta.

Amazing! Being of Italian descent, it felt so nice to find homemade pasta served with such fresh ingredients! The kitchen is very accommodating, you can order two half portions of you can t decide on one. We went to La Grotta for my husbands s birthday and our server Demian could not have been kinder, he recommended food and beverage options to us that we loved. We got a dessert a two glasses of champagne on the house to celebrate. We will surely return for more amazing dinners and we will definitely ask for Demian!

Best Italian food in Atlanta. Billy was our server and his recommendations from the wine to the food were spot on. Great outdoor area with very warm patio heaters for anyone who is trying to work around Covids limitations. We will definitely be visiting here again!
For starters the place is nice. Love the ambiance. The service is A-1! Then there's the food... It is absolutely freaking delicious. The cocktail Sleeping with the fishes is great. EVERYTHING was wonderful. Great birthday dinner.
Food was very good, only complaint is one of the wait staff had a lot to chat about with very little substance. A nice evening out for two quickly became a nightmare. I do have to say that Brett was very professional, his partner was not. Definitely not a reason to miss this hidden gem, but certainly turned it into a non- romantic evening.
They will try to get you whatever. You can probably get a BigMac there, get someone to make some errands, but it will be the most expensive burger you will ever eat.
This is my second time here and I ve loved the service and food both times. Really great wine selection too! If you re willing to spend a good amount per person, this is a nice place to celebrate a special occasion. I went for a birthday and they even served complementary champagne at the end!
We had the melon and prosciutto for an appetizer (a nice size for two people) and the calamari. For the entree, I had the quail which was really juicy and tender.
Chicken was over cooked. So much pepper made it seem as they were hiding it was old. Sauce was negligable and bland. Never will we go back

Great place for Italian food. Everyone here is dressed up and the environment is quite formal. If you bring pet you can only sit in patio. The front door is always locked you need to wait for the valet guy. Although it is a fancy restaurant, it is not that expensive. I got $67 for my appetizer, quail and dessert as well as my arnold palmer

The restaurant is beautiful & the patio is even better. However, the service is just odd. I don t think we even had a server? One gentleman was refilling drinks, while another ordered our food. They never came to check on us or see how we were doing. Then after they removed plates, they just brought out dessert menus but without speaking to us. It was just an odd evening. Food is just okay - not incredible. All in all, for the price, the food is not great and neither is the service. They were not slammed, either, as I would always excuse a restaurant if it was extremely packed. Not a place I will return to/recommend.

House cabernet was 17.50 a glass, 1 small cup of luke warm coffee was 6.50 a cup. Entree was great but the price of drinks is extremely high compared to other restuarants in ATL.

This place is, hands-down, my favorite Italian restaurant in Atlanta. It has the best quality Italian food and recipes that you can eat. It has the first-class, upscale service that you appreciate when eating a good meal. Take your significant other on a date night, or treat yourself to a good meal. When it is nice out, see if they have space on the patio. And make sure to not be rushed. Get a bottle of wine, take your time with each course, and talk to the waiters about the food and wine. They are not only super friendly, but many of them have been working there for a long time and know the food better than anyone. I have to give a shout-out to Billy. He is the man. To sum it up, this place is amazing, and, if you want the best Italian meal in Atlanta, you have to check it out!
It was my first time here. I'm really picky with food and this is the BEST Italian restaurant I've been to. The service was excellent, the prices were reasonable and the food almost made me cry it was so good. Just make sure you get a reservation. We got lucky that someone canceled. Also dress nice or you will be sitting outside.

We took an out of town guest here for dinner last night.We were pleasantly surprised first by the location( underground at a condo complex.) But when we exited the elevator it took us back to our last visit to Italy! The food and service matched the best restaurants in Italy and certainly the best the Italian cuisine in Atlanta. A great find!

This is a hidden gem in Atlanta. Located in the basement of an extremely unassuming condominium tower, La Grotta is a very authentic and tasty Italian restaurant. Everything in the menu seems to be well prepared and extremely tasty and the service is excellent as well. It's a bit on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for every time. I recommend going here for something romantic or just a fancy outing. You will enjoy it and want to come back soon.
VERY POOR GREETING. This was a very strange experience. As we entered we were told table 45 doesn't exist. I have no idea what this meant. We were then told they have a great booth for us. The booth was in the very busy path from the kitchen to the dining room. We asked for another table. Many of the tables were reserved. We had a reservation but that did not seem to matter. I finally asked if our reservation was not as good as other reservations? Finally we were seated at a nice table. Our waiter was over talkative and friendly, as if to compensate for our seating fiasco. The food was good....not great. The reception we received upon entering basically ruined the evening. In my opinion, chick fila treats it's customers better and values the business more. Might be a better choice for next time.
