Quite disappointing, especially at their price point. Great location overlooking Litchfield Beach with their Cabana Cafe downstairs. It has a great reputation and e've eaten there twice. A year ago we took visiting guests there in the winter. We had to apologize to no less than 5 different staff members that we didn't have a reservation...even though only one quarter of the tables were occupied at peak dinner hour. It was dark, so no beach views. The wait staff was helpful, friendly and the food was very good but pricey. ($27. for a glass of cheap champagne.)
We recently had the same visitors who wanted to go back again, they had loved the Caesar Salad previously. We did make reservations this time and the place was still only half filled in May. It was still daylight so we had an ocean view, although the windows weren't very clean. The wait staff was helpful and friendly, and we all ordered the same thing. This time the Caesar salad was half the size and not as fresh. Although we all ordered the same dish consisting of shrimp and scallops, they weren't similar in quality. One was rubbery to the extreme, one was very greasy, and two were adequate but not worth the price. Two dinners were barely touched and went home in doggy bags to be thrown out.
Sadly, Austin's can be a great place, but this visit was very disappointing and certainly not worth the money.
