La Fondue Review

The fondue here is nice. However, the price is high and the portions are ridiculously large.

The selection of cheese and dessert fondue are good. However, there is only one vegetarian entree which isn't great.

Rok bistro and the melting pot seemed better.

We got a Groupon for this restaurant. $155 for a $325 "Le Freak" dinner which included a cheese fondue, meats that included all samples offered, and a chocolate fondue, plus a bottle of wine. All started off well and the food was great. However, by the time the meats came, the heat had been turned down significantly to where our meats were only being seared. It took a long time before I could get a server to help us. I also waited a long time for a water refill. We waited an hour for anyone to check on us while other tables around us were being served and checked on by the same group of servers. We were there for a total of nearly 3 hours. I loved the food and variety, but I've had better, and the service was very underwhelming. I wish they would have been more attentive since we were celebrating our anniversary and we were also planning to tip big.

Our daughter lives this place. The fondue is to die for.

I took my daughter here for her 21st birthday; our experience was delightful. We were able to sample different types of meat, including exquisite alligator and snake meat. The portions were generous, and the dessert was the best part for her. It was a night to remember.

Good except for the dogs this place let's patrons bring to the table. Not a $200 type of place to bring your dog on a date

We went in big group and were offered a fixed menu, the entree cooking style was fixed as grill only and I was not informed. I even called up to find out what a fixed menu was but no luck. Our total bill was provided with no break down and we ended up paying quite a lot for the big group and everyone left confused. Gave it 2 stars for the ambience and would not recommend for groups more than four people

Bought the Groupon for this place, which gives you a nice discount on the Le Freak option for two people, and a bottle of champagne. The food and service were really good, but it was definitely very pricey. I suppose the cost is attributed to the large selection of exotic meat they provide, but I still think that the meal is very overpriced for what it is. I would like to come back to try the other meal options, but I'm not sure it's worth the drive and the price.

Excellent food. Great service. An overall remarkable experience. Perfect to celebrate a special occasion. We celebrated a family birthday.

Best place for romantic dinner on special occasions

Elijah was Fantastic! We had a party of 7 and he helped each of us individually with our specific dietary needs. Always attentive! We have been here about 5 times and he was our best Waiter hands down. Will request him next time!!

Went here for my son's Birthday. We hadn't been here for a few years, but it was still good as usual. The menu has changed slightly.

Best dining experience EVER. Expensive but you 100% get what you pay for. Adam was our server and he paid fabulous attention to special requests of our party of 9 (I.e. vegitarians, allergies to shellfish). Everything we ate was amazing- the salads, cheese fondue, meats and chocolate fondue. The filet mignon and the snow crab were my favorite meats...the snow crab was the best crab I ve ever tasted. The cookies and cream fondue is unforgettable!!!!!! Fun time and fun process in general. Decor inside is crazy cool, very unique and fun. Allow yourselves a few hours (2 1/2 to 3 hour minimum) as the courses come slowly but all for good reason. We came on a Wednesday and it wasn t super busy which was pretty nice. We will be back no doubt. The whole way back to Santa Cruz after, we couldn t stop talking about the food.
(I see some reviews talking about the dark lighting- we didn t seem to have an issue, there was a split second someone in our party used a phone flashlight to make sure their chicken was fully cooked but I personally think the dim lighting adds to the ambiance and experience in general!)

Creative and delicious fondue, including fondue bourguignon with uncommon meats like Elk and Kangaroo. The place has an upscale but cozy atmosphere. 4+ in first visit.

The food was excellent. Loved the wild mushroom cheese fondue. We could barely walk out of the place because we were so stuffed. The service was very good as well. Our server was very attentive and filled our water glasses before they could even get half empty. We stayed very late because we had a 8:30 seat time. They were not pushy about us getting out even though we were the last table. Thanks!

Been before and had decent service and fun dinner. But on Jan 4th my wife and my date night ended in disaster. I made a reservation on Dec 11th for a special surprise for our after holiday celebration. We drove about one hour to park and find sign on the door they were closed. Nothing about this when I called for reservation, nothing on their website when I checked afterwards. Our night was ruined and I am out $155 for a special voucher for deluxe dinner for two and bottle of champagne that expires next week and we can't go Mon-Thurs (terms of voucher) now that my wife is back at work. Huge disappointment. Never again will trust this place for our hard earned money and time to celebrate.

The food was so amazing and the service was great. They made the night special. Super personable and helpful with any questions you may have. It is very expensive but we had a groupon. We tipped on the original amount the the discounted. So please make sure you do they same especially if they give you amazing service. All the different meats were good. Some were delicious and some were interesting. I would definitely want to try it again.

One of my favorite locations for delicious fondue. visited on sat i believe. prices are reasonable. mood here reminds me of san diego's scene.

They used to have an amazing, more casual, chocolate fondue dessert option that I loved, even more than their full service. Alas, it's gone

The experience is the first thing I would come here for. Second would be the cheese, I am a sucker for cheese. 3rd would be for the selection of meats. I get to try things I have never had before.

Great place for special occasions. Definitely make reservations and be patient to get a good table. Food is great and plenty of it. There is something for everyone on the menu, from a vegetarians to adventurers and traditionalists.

Overall it's one of my favorite places to take my wife for a somewhat romantic dinner date. One thing to note...your clothes will get very smelly because of all the grilling at each table. The entire inside of the restaurant is smokey...I wish they had a little ventilation. It would help with the ambiance. Other than that...the salads are great, cheese fondue is my favorite with all kinds of tasty things to dip, the meat is mostly fresh, and the chocolate fondue is such a treat, no matter how full you end up feeling...it's a 2 hour dining experience.

I love La fondue. It is the most expensive fondue place in the bay area but also provides much better value and service for the cost than any of the cheaper places.

They have a wide selection of cheeses as well as chocolate mixes and the meat selection is very wide (something for everyone).

Get a reservation!

The one main downside is I don't believe they do a chocolate only menu, they've gotten too busy and only do full menu meals now, a secondary downside is the lack of hard drinks. Previously I could get a good julep or old fashioned to pair with the cheese but now it's only wine and beer. I don't mind the chocolate but the drink issue is a minor annoyance, it'd be half a star off but you can't do that here and it's not worth dropping it a full star.

This place used to be great, but the last two visits from us has had horrible service. The service makes the food and prices not worth it.....

Classy place. The fondues are great. Always leave room for the chocolate fondues - they're amazing. The bowls are usually for two people or four, but they also do special orders for three.

Nice ambience. Fondue was good, but had better fondue before. Reservations recommended.

I was a guest for a friend's birthday dinner. I enjoyed the experience but don't think that I'll return. The service was stellar.

I cannot gush or say more about this place we don't live in the area anymore but we make it a point to get here at least twice a year and we're talking a two to three hour drive for us. The service is always great the food is even better Andy Ambience and consistency of all their products are top-notch do yourself and stop in to Saratoga and check them out

Been here a few times over the years, and always enjoyed it, whether doing the 4-course meal or just a cheese fondue + chocolate fondue a la carte. Note that many (I think all, but not positive) of the prices on the menu are for 2 people - so while it's still far from cheap, it's not as expensive as a quick glance on the menu makes it appear.

I've been here mostly to celebrate my kids' birthdays, the fondue experience is fun and very well orchestrated by the staff. It is a dimly lit restaurant and some got he decor is unusual and takes getting used to.
