Really beautiful location. Went for a wedding and it was very very nice. All the staff was great as well. Very helpful and cheery. The grounds are amazing as well. Very picturesque! There was also some very cool wildlife. Had a great time here and it's really worth a visit.

DON T TRUST THE VALET! My car was damaged when parked with the Valet, drivers side door scratched and majorly dented. They tried to cover their tracks and hide the damage from me in order to avoid liability. Had the car waiting up front with the door open, just so I could drive off the property and allow them a chance to deny liability. The restaurant has done nothing other than pass me off to the Valet company who takes no responsibility for the damage. Seriously sketchy and down right wrong.

This is a Utah main stay a fine dining. The second you enter the property you know you have entered a luxurious location. The service and food is fantastic. We tried the meat and cheese platter which has a tremendous amount of food so I recommend you take most of it home and enjoy it later. The steak and chicken was fantastic. Be sure to wander around the grounds and enjoy the atmosphere.

Portions are huge but prices are reasonable for what you get. Space is beautiful but seating is somewhat limited. The line will likely be out the door but that's because the counter starts near the door. He line moved pretty fast.

We went here to check this out for a possible wedding venue. The place is amazing. We loved the food and the ambience. The grounds are beautiful. We checked out the green house as a wedding reception had just ended. Simply a beautiful place, everything was done wonderfully and elegantly.

This is above a five star place. The staff are amazing and respectful, and it is the best atmosphere you can get. Like a little trip to a french restaurant. Very pricey, but great for special occasions

We loved our dinner last night and had great family bonding. They had so many unique dishes we haven t ever tried elsewhere. The grounds are a must see and go for French onion soup. We got desserts and even special treat for those celebrating something. The escargot was the real thing also.

** Edit: Spoke to Wendy at La Caille and she did listen to the specific concerns with this visit. Will update review based on our next visit** Pros: Swan, rabbits, and peacocks were beautiful and fun to watch while eating. Great atmosphere. Cons: Service was incredibly poor! There were constant issues with the meal, server forgetting what we ordered, etc, and finally at the end of the meal, we asked for silverware to eat our dessert (frozen key lime parfait) and our server, Amanda, did not ever bring it at all. We waited at least 18 minutes but the silverware never showed up, at which point we got the check and left. Really bummed out about this whole visit.

This place was fun, but over priced. My filet mignon was over cooked and it tasted like meat from any other steak house. My wife had chicken and it was undercooked. The service was mediocre.

A unique dining experience, La Caille sits on a 20-acre estate nestled right at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains. It is a beautiful place and I had a very special time with some family I love dearly and don't see often enough.
I could attempt to describe the restaurant, the grounds, the menu, etc. But any written description could not possibly do justice to any of these or convey the true feeling, atmosphere, quality of food...any aspect of the entire experience would escape being accurately described in written form. La Caille is one of those places that simply must be experienced first hand.
La Caille was originally just a small farmhouse years and years ago, but as you will see, it has evolved into something far far from that. A vineyard on the grounds, peacocks strolling by you on the patio, taxidermied animal trophy head on the walls (elk, moose, bison, even a walrus), La Caille is a total experience.

This place is everything an classy French restaurant should be. The food is meticulously prepared by an on site chef. The amuse bouche is delightful. I adored the lobster bisque!! Great for a romantic night out or a classy group celebration. And you have to have the house Cabernet Sauvignon!!

I visited here on two occasions back to back. The first time I was truly unimpressed by the food. It lacks the "you can't get this anywhere else" quality that you expect when going to a restaurant like this. Additionally, I am always baffled by their seating practices. They have an entire dining area open, but choose to sit you right next to the only other party in the whole space. Not only that, but it's on the edge of space so it's cold and uncomfortable. Then when they bring a space heater to help, it only makes things smell musty.
My second visit was for a company party. The venue worked, bit it seemed like they overbooked themselves with too many parties that night because the wait staff looked like they were barely keeping their head above water. The food on this occasion was mediocre at best (except for the hot chocolate).
Basically, La Caille seems to be banking on their location and atmosphere and has let everything else slide.

I am completely convinced there are paid reviews on this restaurant. La Caille is NO WHERE near the place it used to be. Weed through the review and hear from those who suffered with us on Valentine's Day 2019. What a rip-off.

We were so excited for a rare experience on Valentine's Day. The setting was beautiful of course. However, the food... What the heck? For a $500 check, are you kidding me? We knew the price before we walked in and expected something really special. However, for that price every course should taste 'more-ish' - you know? Your taste buds should burst with excitement and yum! But, this time... nope! This menu was very bland and forgettable. Maybe things are better when they're not serving up a "special holiday feast"? Special is not what we experienced. I want to believe it's not this way all the time and people are just being duped. ugh.

The artichoke was like eating bamboo. We couldn't get it down. Were we actually supposed to eat that? I could only eat the topping because the artichoke was so tough you could not swallow it. I had a ball of fiber to chew for a good five minutes... it would have been rude to spit it out onto the plate. The salad had no flavor, barely any dressing and was just plain boring. The "rib-eye" steak was really a cut of prime rib. It looked nothing like a rib-eye. I ordered medium and it was bright red. My husband asked for med-rare and it looked like it just came out of the package. Worst? The meat had no flavor and was not tender - at all. Maybe a little salt would be nice, eh? The tuna dish... yikes, no contrast in terms of texture or flavor. You had a nice plating, but the dish was mush. Both avocado and raw tuna (mush) goes well together?

I won't go on, but honestly, we've eaten a fancy dinners many times on special occasions (Tuscany, Stein Eriksen Lodge, Log Haven, etc.), almost always each dish would leave you wanting more! Each of those meals were also a LOT less money. For a $500 check, the food really should be more-ish, don't you agree? This food just left us feeling really ripped off. I don't mean to be rude in any way, but we were just really let down. The Chef clearly trained in beautiful plating - it was beautiful and fancy, but, is someone tasting the food? The best item on the table was the bread and butter. Seriously - No joke.

We saw a bunch of young adults on the table next to us in shock over the price for the V-Day meal when they sat down. They hadn't received the first course and I was really tempted tell them to leave. I felt bad they might be about to dump rent money on that meal and it's not even close to worth it. BTW - Texas Roadhouse has a far better steak in terms of flavor and tenderness!

Can someone please explain to me how this restaurant is even open? You walk in this restaurant and you are immediately welcomed by the smell of cat urine. Then they awkwardly walk you upstairs to a very outdated room with very outdated furniture. The waitstaff were mediocre and they sure do try to sell the fanciness and how the chef designed the menu as a 3 course meal. Ok, however, if I'm going to spend $18 on an appetizer, $18 on a salad, $85 for the cheapest bottle of wine from their private vineyard, and, drum roll, $58 for my entree, my mouth better water and I better be on the verge of a food orgasm because the food is that good. This did not happen at La Caille, not even close. The food was mediocre, at best. I ordered the sea bass and it was cooked well but the stuff paired with it wasn't edible. The chicken was something I could whip up on a school night. To say I'm disappointed with this restaurant is an understatement. The food was blah, the restaurant was dirty, the wine was eh, the service eh. Thank goodness Salt Lake has tons of options now. La Caille, you are going to need to do better or you'll be a memory. But, wait, they have peacocks. Is that why people come here?

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! Unless you want your vehicle damage. I tried contacting them to let them know what had happened and they haven't done NOTHING!!!! The food was good the chicken was moist but the potatoes were still hard.
Had a HORRIBLE experience. . This soon to be maid of honor will NOT be recommending this place to my friend who is looking for a place.

The torch has burned out.... once a destination restaurant has gone to resting on its laurels. Service was mediocre at best. $18 butter noodle entree for the kids. $$$$ forced water $25 soup $56 adult entrees.... also smelled of cat urine in the hallways .... empty water glasses, dirty table cloths, empty bread baskets at $120 a place setting? Come on....

This is a very upscale restaurant, with fantastic lands to walk around. The service is great and the food is good. The average person would end up going here for special occasions. The only reason I did not give it 5 start is the price of the food did not really match the quality. I ended up ordering the mussels and the steak. Both cooked to perfection and not a single thing wrong with them. Over all a great experience eating here.

Set in a beautiful foot of the nearby Wasatch mountains, la Caille is a beautiful place to walk the grounds for splendid scenery. I have only been for brunch but the food was exquisite and presented very tastefully. This would be a great romantic evening (or breakfast depending on your taste)

Our previous visit to La Caille was over 25 years ...

Our previous visit to La Caille was over 25 years ago. At that time it was the premiere dinner destination for special events; birthdays, promotions, engagements, weddings, and anniversaries. I remember the special feeling I had when I went there. It was a night to remember, truly magical.

Since then Work has taken us around the world. We ve eaten in some of the finest restaurants and experienced spectacular cuisine. My memory of La Caille rivaled those experiences and, when we made reservations to go I was looking forward to a walk down memory lane. However, our evening fell short of those expectations.

The overall ambiance was a mixed bag. The grounds are beautiful and it s very French from a Disneyland point of view. Still, I suppose it s what you expect to see.

The menu is ok. Again, it s what you expect to find in a French themed restaurant. The cocktail menu was a bit more creative and fun and the wine list is quite nice. I was surprised and impressed with their house wine which really was a perfect pairing with my meal.

I have no complaints about my entree which was superb. However, my wife was really disappointed with hers and sent it back. Later, the sous chef came out and explained that they had run out of some of the components of the dish and admitted maybe the substitute was inappropriate.

Overall the whole experience was fair. The wait staff missed the boat on our wine (we didn t get it until we were half-way finished with dinner.) The timing of our courses were off and the wait staff did a poor job in maintaining our table. The manager said he would take care of my wife s entree which ended up in him comping the dessert ($18 vs $58.) We left feeling less enthusiastic than we were upon arrival.

In the end, there are far better restaurants around this valley. We ll probably be back but it will take a while to let tonight s experience fade.

The best french restaurant that I know of. The grounds are beautiful, definitely gives me french vibes. And the cuisine is absolutely divine. I came here on a school trip 2 years in a row and they did not disappoint. Though is might be a little expensive, its definitely worth it.

We went on Mother's day. They had a brunch buffet. Everything looked and tasted amazing. The staff was very attentive, clean and respectful. The grounds are beautiful and the building was very clean and beautiful.

I took my wife here for a short overnight getaway. We stayed in the cabin and had breakfast in the restaurant the next morning. It s a pricey venue, but you will soon forget about that the moment you begin to take in the ambience of the place, the excellent service, and food choices. If you book the cabin, give yourself plenty of advance time, as it s a popular choice.

This was an amazing experience! I've had the opportunity to travel and enjoyed a lot of good restaurants, many with famous names. Many that survived on reputation not on quality of food. La Calle deserves all the accolades it has received. Wonderful food and a wonderful experience. Well worth the price. Perfect for special occasions.

EDITED:10/17/18- Husband took me back for a dinner service. Very pleasantly surprised! This is what I expected the first time I visited. (See below). The staff are absolutely amazing and after hearing of our previous experience, showed us why they are rated so highly. The chef made some incredible food for us. So many wonderful tastes and textures. A real treat to the senses. The outdoor seating was so beautiful. Our server was so attentive and helpful. I now see the appeal and will definitely return again.
* I was taken for mothers day and had heard such wonderful things about the food. We expected the wait but the food was not what I had hoped for. It was a very expensive meal for 3 of us (almost $300!) and it was cafeteria style. I had one plate as most of the items available were not stocked well nor did they look appealing. My husband and son were disappointed as well hoping to treat me to something special for mothers day. We may return to try them on a regular service but will never attend a special occasion meal ever again, nor would we recommend for such.

Stay away from this place and don't spend money on the worst food in town. I am confused by so many good reviews. These people must not know what good food is. From appetizer to dessert the food was horrible. The restaurant is outdated and the service is far from great.

The grounds are lovely. The inside of the building hasn't been updated since they opened in the 70s; the paint on the walls is yellowed and there is an overabundance of greenery, statuary, and furniture attempting to cover the cracks and peels. Worse, we watched the roof leak all evening, just a few feet away from my chair. Be warned: a canceled reservation will cost you $50 per person. The service was more familiar and jovial than I expected and wanted. The food was good, but not $80-per-person good. We were under the impression that this was a fancy, upscale place, but most of the patrons were in jeans at the dinner hour. Almost every table had small children, and we were "interested" to see that the restaurant caters to children with a kids menu and plastic drink cups like you find at a burger joint. Again, the food was good, but not good enough for the price, and the interior wasn't as nice as I had been led to believe. We won't be back.

Fine for vegetarians. Not horrible, but not great. Wine is made in Utah and is also decent. We just don t have the climate for great wine. The location is gorgeous though. That s the best part about this place. Also, the mushroom appetizer was incredible. I ve never had mushrooms like that. I would suggest going on a warm day, sitting outside and enjoy some small plates and drinks.

My husband and I new it was a fancy restaurant, be us Idahoans had no idea what we were getting into. It was such a fun experience! We were served with top of the line service and most of the foods we were surprised how Fantastic they tasted. I wish I took more pictures of our food. My husband got a filet and it was so tender, almost like bread. It is very very pricey, but if our wallet was prepared we d go again for the experience, amazing antiqued French decor, and food. Oh an their cream style sodas are so good too. Such a great place for a foodie, because there are lots of great flavors and textures.

Very nice place. Perfect for an anniversary, birthday, etc. Atmosphere was off the charts pleasant, with peacocks walking around and a Victorian style of building/landscaping. Food was expensive of course, but very good for a special occasion restaurant. Staff was kind and accommodating. We had a great time.
