La Caille if one of the finest establishments in the state if Utah. As soon as you enter the grounds you feel as if you've gone from Salt Lake City to the French countryside in a matter of just a few seconds! The gardens are beautiful, the animals are well behaved, and the staff is well mannered. As far as wines go, they have both imported and home grown options (wine made from their vineyard behind the restaurant). For being Utah made, their wine is great in my book. I love bringing my wife here on dates, it's one of our favorite getaways. If you're looking for a fine dining experience in the state of Utah this is a fantastic option.

Went here for my birthday. Told them I was allergic to chocolate. They still brought me a chocolate dessert, "This is chocolate don't eat it." **well if it's my birthday, how about you bring me a non chocolate dessert a#$hole. That's why I told you I'm allergic. 5 stars for food quality and atmosphere. 2 stars deducted for lack of flexibility, and lacking customer service.
The food is very good, albeit very pricey. But you're paying for far more than the food. You are paying for the atmosphere and in that regard this place does not disappoint!
We typically go here for dessert and drinks, and a few times for brunch and a holiday party or two. Never disappointed. The grounds are beautiful; include time for a walk through them if you can.
Beautiful property, I've only been there in the winter however I'm sure that the summer months it's just as great. The lobster bisque is the best that I've ever had. The menu is delicious and the atmosphere is very warm and romantic. We celebrated our engagement night celebration there many years ago and we were just in town a few weeks ago, so we went back for another visit. If you have a special occasion to celebrate, I highly suggest visiting La Caille!
The food, the service, the ambiance! Hard to beat!we enjoyed a wonderful meal. Our young granddaughter enjoyed the grounds as well as the food. Fantastic patio!
Last night my husband and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary and it was the most magical night. Our waiter Steven made sure our experience there was great. He pointed great places to walk and see. Our food was delicious and the wine we drank with our meal was fantastic also. We will be back there again.
First, the food: The food was plain and did not merit the $110/person plus tip plus beverages (non alcoholic such as sparkling water) price tag. It was $730 (incl 20% tip and a couple of beverages) for a family of 5 adults.
Family platter style dinner with choice of appetizer and dessert-
It was plain turkey, somewhat dry. The prime rib was full of fat (much more than just "marbled"). The salmon was definitely farm fed Atlantic salmon; it was extremely fishy tasting. (We frequently eat wild caught Alaskan sockeye salmon, so we know there is a vast difference between the two.) The brussel sprouts were so so, as were the green beans (so plain!!), and the mashed potatoes honestly tasted like boxed potatoes from a discount grocery store. The stuffing and sauces were marginal. There was no pizazz, just an ordinary Thanksgiving dinner. The first course (salad or pumpkin soup) was good, but again, it wasn't necessarily unique or what I'd qualify as "fine dining". My homemade butternut squash soup made from scratch is 100 times better than La Caille's pumpkin soup. (We also thought it pretty surprising that they offered a salad as the other option. A salad is soooooo easy to prepare and requires no unique skill set.) . The dessert course (choice of cranberry white mousse or a pumpkin ricotta type cheese cake) was phenomenal, and the only course that merited high praise. The more we ate we found ourselves saying "Um... we cook way better food at home on any given weekday than this!" The only exception to that would be the dessert. It was tasty and unique. Overall, we were very disappointed in the food.
The service: Our server was great. She was attentive and performed the job as expected for a place such as La Caille. No complaints whatsoever. The food was served in a timely manner as well.
The ambiance: La Caille is stunning. What a beautiful and exquisite location/building(s)/setting! Our party of 5 was tucked quietly away in an upstairs area (with other diners) and it was intimate and beautiful.
Despite the service and ambiance being 5 stars, we all felt like the poor food really ruined it for us. For that amount of money, I expect to have a very unique and outstanding eating experience. My family wondered after the evening was over, that if we could have had a menu with different entrees to choose from (to be able to experience a unique dining-out-for-Thanksgiving event) we may have considered it worthwhile.( Of course, that is assuming the food was good. I'm not too optimistic that it would have been any better, but my family was hopeful.)
I knew going in that it would be family style platter but I thought it would be a Thanksgiving dinner prepared in a unique way. (Even something like rosemary garlic potatoes rather than just plain mashed potatoes. Or beer battered turkey, or prosciutto wrapped asparagus. Just something different than the typical holiday meal.) We're by no means professional chefs, but in 2019 society has access to high quality food (rather bought online or in grocery stores) as well as professional chef instruction from websites, youtube, and food television shows, and so its not uncommon to know what good food is and how to prepare it. If you're going to offer a fancy dining out Thanksgiving dinner at $150 a head (tip, beverage incl) we fully expect it to knock our socks off as one of the best holiday dinners we've ever enjoyed. Our experience at La Caille fell far short of that expectation. We will not go again.
Beautiful grounds and their wine and food reflects the same. Our server was amazing and checked up on us frequently! Even grabbed a bottle to go from the store!
The food and service were amazing. We celebrated our anniversary here and enjoyed the entire evening. We were there for about two and s half hours with our meal.
Make sure you dress to impress. I enjoyed the atmosphere and getting all fancy. It was like being in a movie. Really unique place where we were treated like royalty.
Pretty tasty food, The experience can be somewhat magical, however we have been disappointed by our waitresses.
Most recently we brought our daughter along and she accidentally broke a glass. The waitress was visibly annoyed and treated us like dirt the rest of the evening. not only that but my pork belly was literally not edible, when I told them I was having trouble getting through it, they did not offer any sort of alternative.
The wine tasting of their house made wines was a wonderful experience. The brunch was delicious. The French toast tasted like a rich custard. And the Seafood Newburg was decadent.
The grounds make the trip worth a trip of its own. The salad showcased the beautiful simplicity of foraged vegtables. The croissants had a maple walnut syrup that did not disappoint.
The staff was warm and friendly. It is an experience I will fondly remember.
Gorgeous. As in, amazing scenery, pretty birds (cough peacocks cough) and I was treated to a 3 course meal that was utterly delicious and had a sherbet palette cleanser in between! (Technically 4 course with the escargot at the beginning. Or was it 5...?)
We wanted someplace different for our family Christmas dinner and decided on La Caille. It was decorated for Christmas and was absolutely beautiful! The service was very good. The food was good, but definitely overpriced. I d return for a very special occasion knowing it s the service and ambiance I m paying for and not the quality of the food. Expect to pay approximately $100.00 per couple without tip per couple for breakfast. Dinner is much more expensive.
The atmosphere and ambiance were amazing first thing. The staff was down to earth and very amiable. She had the 'Chateau' breakfast, and the French toast was to die for. I had the Wagyu steak and eggs, the crust was amazing! Everyone there was calm and collected, very attentive. Good job guys!
All right so if you thinking about going here throw out any notion of money. This place is probably one of the most expensive places in the valley. However it is entirely worth it, dining here will make you feel like you are royalty. I have to say I have never had fancy French food delivered to me on a nice spring day with live peacocks walking around. They also have fun events here, the one that I went to was a Bastille day celebration with a seven course meal and each course was paired with its own wine. The presentation of the dishes here are great they do a lot of table side preparation like cutting your steak for you, or lighting your desserts on fire. walking around the place while you're waiting to be seated is very romantic. I've been here with my now wife multiple times and never been disappointed. So I would highly recommend going if you have the extra dollars laying around, just don't forget to rub the walrus tusk on the way out. It's good luck.
We celebrated our anniversary here and had a great time. We ate in the greenhouse and it was very relaxing. They brought us a couple of samples and checked on us often. The food was very delicious, I had the filet mignon and my wife had the seared tuna which tasted amazing. We got a creme brulee to go and it was just okay. The service was the best part, they were very nice and professional, I think her name was Mae. Protip: if you're not used to fanciness like us, you may not know to drive up to the front door where a valet will come out and park your car. We parked way far back and had to walk back in a blizzard.
Absolutely beautiful location, but the food isn't anything special. In fact, the 2 times I've been there, I didn't enjoy the food other than the escargot. The first time, the chicken was bone dry, almost to the point of being hard. The second time was for Thanksgiving and we received enough food for maybe three people, though there were seven of us, and that food was very bland and basic. Not worth the price.
Very disappointed. My wife and I dined at La Caille for the past 11 years. I used to frequent La Caille since I came to Utah in 1993. Of course the location and ambiance is wonderful if that s all you desire of an eating experience. However, for a restaurant that prizes itself a French cuisine , there is a lot to be desired. As far as a high class restaurant it has all the ambiance and charm of a French cuisine but not where the food is concerned. And that s what you desire when one is to enjoy an evening of delicious delectable tasty creations that is unique to most critical palates. That is definitely not La Caille. It s a lot of flairs and no substance. Serving substandard meal for price of a truly fancy creatively cheffed kitchen. In particular, their Valentine Day dinner was a scam. I can t understand what they were thinking when serving awaful tasting crude textured poorly prepared badly designed food for the amount they charged. I believe it took everyone by surprise who dined that night for the kind of food that was served. The place as charming as it is could use a better than folding legs, wobbly and small table jammed close together hardly for an elbow room. The chairs very uncomfortable hard straw chairs. There were no flowers on the tables. A small tea candle decorated the white table cloth. The waiters were polite but off course the charming decolte dressed waitresses are far gone. The food arrived with the first of the seven predetermined menu a single pre- seasoned Oister. Shortly after the second course a tuna tartar for me and Foie gras for the wife. That was actually okay. Then came the one little scoop of Sorbe with 4 pomegranate seeds. Next the leafy salad with 3 slices of beats. The salad was less than a 10-15 leaves of some sort of arugula. Then came the main dish. My choice was a nice juicy, perhaps unusually and exceptionally seasoned 7 once of prime rib. But what I actually received in front of me a small pie slice of a red meat for a medium, poorly prepared mostly fat, decorated with 3 large breaded deep fried potato. I harvested 3 pieces of less than one oz. each actual meat. That was all to it. The main course was over. Very disappointed. I felt cheated and taken advantage of. Using their old reputation and French cuisine dining experience and their beautiful garden as a bait to entice unsuspecting customers and rub them. I felt rubbed! The desert didn t change any of that for me and my wife. Mine was 4 pieces of donut holes filled with some sort of chocolate. Fortunately, I had brought my own wine . The corkage fee of $25 was well worth their cheapest Pino Noir of $95-$150. I feel La Caille need to reimburse everyone for their scam of a Valentine dinner . I will also report this incidence to better business bureau. Certainly will not recommend this place to anyone and will not return to La Caille anytime soon.
Super nice restaurant. Probably top 3 places in Utah to eat. Had a great dinner. And told them it was our anniversary so they brought us out a great desert and plate with happy anniversary on it. 100% recommend this place.
I love this restaurant, I have been 2 times and both time's we had the best service and everyone whom works here is super nice. I will continue to dine here at La Caille.
This is place is absolutely beautiful! It's luscious gardens full color and romantic themes are very impressive. This restaurant is wonderful venue to celebrate a wedding. It is pricey but its definitely high quality. It's French, Belgian cuisine it's outstanding and a treat to the palate! With a romantic and countryside atmosphere, this place is the perfect set for a fairy tale wedding or marriage proposal, anniversaries, birthdays, mother's day brunch! Its French decor is exquisite and tasteful. With a wide selection of wine and cocktails! You will see peacocks, ducks and swans in their pond and walking freely in their magnificent landscape! It very relaxing and noise level is pretty low. You can eat in or outside in their beautifully design patios. La Caille is a family own restaurant which is a gemstone is their neighborhood!
This place is so amazing, the food is so fantastic and it almost feels unreal, the service is amazing the best service ever, and its setting is perfect and elegant. I love this place.
Wonderful atmosphere. Chicken was salted and peppered with piped mashed potatoes, two small asparagus, and carrot. It wasn't the best meal or anything inspired. The Cesar salad tasted more like mayonnaise. The rolls were something you could buy at the grocery store.
We enjoyed a beautifully prepared Thanksgiving dinner. The staff was exceptional from the moment we booked our table to the last goodbye from the chipper valet. The menu expertly planned and perfectly executed with the highest quality ingredients. The grounds are gorgeous year-round with everything being fantastically manicured and cared for.
My husband and I came here for our anniversary and everything was done perfectly. The food was fabulous (the escargot was the best), the service very friendly and even offered to take our picture. My husband ordered the prawns, pear salad and lamb. I ordered the escargot, lobster bisque and bouillisse (pretty sure I spelled that wrong). Dessert we ordered the creme brulee and sorbet. They gave us a complimentary chocolate mousse with a firecracker for celebrating our anniversary with them. It was about a 3 hour experience total and we loved every minute.
The place is beautiful, appetizers are great, but as far as staff goes it's definitely not a 5 star service. And the food is not the best, half of my plate was left uneaten due to the amount of fat their dish had, and mentioning it several times to staff members didn't help. Food doesn't have enough seasoning and is very plain. I have to say I expected a lot more.
The place was run-down and was in disrepair everywhere. Not only were the.veoinda and building in need of attention, but the service was poor. We didn't get our drinks for over 15 minites, so we ordered coffee to have without first course. They said a.table of 20 git their driveway k order I before ours ... We never got another.rwfil of coffee (at brunch no less) and when the.check came, we'd been charged $5 for the coffee. I've been at dives where they'd forgo the charge for coffee if they were at fault. The food came all at once, and then we were left for over 30 minute s without a check back or anything. The place has really gone down hill. The food, however, was delicious.
This was such a fun fancy restaurant to experience. My wife and I had our anniversary a while back and decided to give La Caille a visit. The outdoor table after dark was very romantic and pretty. They served some delicious food and dessert. It was a very unique experience for the both of us, their atmosphere definitely tied everything together nicely!
Food needs to be changed. Service bad, Went back after a bad experience with our keys being lost by valet. Environment awesome. I would go back if menu changes.
Amazing food but I think it's overpriced and also thought the fact the circular tables are cheap plastic lifetime tables covered with nice table cloths is extremely tacky when you're paying $100 a person.
Overall I have had much better food and ambiance for less money. This is a pretty place and the staff is nice enough but the recommended dish "Morgan Valley Rack of Lamb" was the worst rack of lamb I have had. There were about 4 bites that were not pure fat and it was not very flavorful. My husband got the "Lemon Thyme Brined Chicken" and that was good, the cheese board was kinda gross, the dessert Chocolate^3 was excellent. I will never go back for dinner. Maybe brunch is better. I'd recommend Log Haven or Carvers for a romantic AND delicious meal.
Beautiful atmosphere. Great food and service. Food is pricey. Expect about $100 If each person wants an appetizer, soup/salad, an entree, and a dessert. But food is some of the best in Utah.
This has a fairly tale and old French chateau feel. Absolutely stunning inside and out. The food and service was outstanding. If you're visiting SLC or the slopes find this place. It's gorgeous.
Went here last night, the entree was disappointing. We ordered the Grilled Lamb Chop and Smoked Sous Vide Chicken. The Lamb wasn't great, was soggy from the demi-glace and had a lot of fat, had better at Longhorn Steakhouse, the chicken was really good. Giving it 2 stars because everything else on the plate for the most part wasn't good, the white bean cassoulet, house pork belly braised kale, roasted fennel, celery root, leeks. Would have been better to serve al la cart than adding these random extras that weren't good. For the price especially I was very disappointed. I did however LOVE the salad which had goat cheese, pears, and pomegranate seeds. We enjoyed the bread, banana sorbet, and cream puff. The atmosphere was beautiful and it was a joy driving into the restaurant. The staff were great as well. I was glad I visited for the view but I would never come again.
This restaurant could have been great, and should have been with all the good things I had heard about it. Our food came out cold and raw, we were embarrassed that we both had complaints but for the price we were paying we had to send our food back. Unfortunately it came out of the kitchen cold once again. We ate in disappointment and still left them with a 20% gratituty even though our service was not as expected I watch the hostess sit a couple down next to me and ask them if they wanted they coats checked and our waitress explain to other tables the specials and it's description. Services we did not receive. All in all I think this restaurant could have been great and maybe our timing was just bad, but for the hundreds of dollars we spent I dont think we'll be able to chance it.
I took my family to dinner during the holidays. This is supposed to be the best restaurant in all of Utah. Well surprise! The food was cold, the service was atrocious, they didn't have the wine listed on their list we tried to order. The server told us she would supply half bottles for the same price, then we were told that wasn't possible. I don't think it's reasonable to make a statement and the management doesn't back it up. This was the worst dining experience possible. The bill was nearly $1,000.00 with a tip, which was not deserved. Don't go you will be sorry!! Kent
I have been to LA Camille four or five times. I have found it consistently disappointing. In my opinion, it is pretentious, over priced and in this new location failing in most aspects of what I would expect in a"French-Belgian" dining experience"(their description). Our food tasted only average at best but carried a premium price. The staff was the most "French" aspect of the evening. They were snobby, lacking in attention to the diner and unfriendly. Just like dining in Paris! The room was freezing cold. Our meal was served lukewarm&so did little to fend off the chill. On the plus side, the miniscule amount of steak they served was delicious. I think. There was barely meat enough to form an accurate opinion. I hope to never done there again.
Nice place. Nice people. But I really think they ought to add a couple of dishes to the menu. They can call them "The Double Crosser" or "Murder-Suicide". Or even "The Falling Out".
Beautiful estate and delicious food. That is what almost getting them a 4 rating. However, giving three given some downsides: 1) not the best service around (when you're in the business for fine dining, this should be one of your priorities); 2) they only sell their own wine or higher price wines from other vineyard--glad we did the flight before opting in for a bottle of an average tasting Pinot Noir (the rest of the red ones are unappetizing; whites are mediocre); and 3) pricing ($400 for two) is over the top for the whole experience, especially in Utah...
Amazing place for a fun night out with epic ambiance, food and wine. I have not been to a restaurant this charming in a while. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I'd love to return when in Utah next.
Amazing service and such decadent food. I recommend getting the banana fosters for dessert! Also check out the garden while you're there, it's absolutely beautiful.
As we write this review, we are literally in tears the good kind! The venue and folks at La Caille were truly BEYOND amazing from start to finish in our wedding planning and ensuring everything went smooth and without issue! Madeline Anderton handled each and every detail in ensuring that everything was documented, thought out, and clearly explained from the get-go. There wasn t ONE surprise (except the fact that things went more amazing than we could have dreamed of!) Madison and Mark waited on us hand and foot the entire evening, making sure we needed nothing! We truly cannot thank each of them enough for their kindness, attention to detail and true heart-felt devotion to make sure we both felt like royalty throughout the entire process. This was a night/weekend we will NEVER forget! If you can do your wedding at La Caille, DO IT! It is WELL worth the time and money! We have made forever friends through the process! Thank you Madeline, Madison and Mark, forever in our hearts!
I ve been to La Caille four times now and each time is just as great as the last. It is expensive fine cuisine and you get what you pay for. The food is delicious. The atmosphere is light and charming. The grounds are so beautiful to walk through! Even the wildlife is fun to watch.
Absolutely beautiful location. I was so surprised how tucked away this place was and what a magnificent view of the canyon it has. The peacocks are a bit feisty, but hey, the place has peacocks! The staff was abundant and helpful for the event I attended and the food was really good.
This place was quite the experience! It s set in some beautiful grounds I recommend walking around before or after dinner. The servers there were all very nice. It s set in a cute area.
I was surprised to see people dress so casually for dinner! We celebrated our anniversary early so we dressed up, but people came in jeans and t-shirts too (Utahns have a weird habit of dressing down at nice places, like weddings). They gave us a fun dessert with a sparkler on it for our anniversary. This is definitely a great place to go for a very romantic, upscale dinner to celebrate some milestone.
Only come here if you have about 2.5-3 hours to spare for dinner and nowhere to be right after. They can get quite busy in the evening. We made the mistake of planning something for two hours after our dinner appointment, when we really should have allotted ourselves 2.5-3 hours for dinner instead.
The reason I gave this 4 stars rather than 5 was because while it was good, it wasn t out-of-this-world amazing for me, which makes me feel it s overpriced. My husband and I have lived all over the world and eaten all sorts of food, coming from a family of chefs at Michelin-star restaurants and restaurant owners, so we re not averse to spending a pretty penny on great food. While I m glad we came here once for the experience and setting, I don t really feel the need or desire to come back here. Our bill was a little over $300 for 2 adults, for reference. We got a couple of appetizers and 2 entrees. Good food, but not my favorite food ever. I guess part of the high price includes the experience, not just the food.
I still recommend coming here if you ve been dying to try it! It s an experience. Everyone has a different taste.
