It is totally worth it. It is not a cheap place, but the 300 years of history guarantee the quality of its food and attention. It is not for every day, but I do recommend going at least once.

A must go to restaurant!!! This restaurant is over 400 years old. Good food and very interesting busy but warm atmosphere. Make sure you get a reservation prior to arrival if possible.
I treat very well, food very well prepared.
I recommend visiting and eating / emblematic local dinner in all the center of Madrid.
See you soon.
Restaurant with History, we went with the reservation of the fork of 50% and the price was adequate if it would not be a tad expensive but the truth is that with everything we ate very well priced and the food shows that it is homemade.
First of all, a very good garlic soup, some peppers with a belly, you could tell that they were not pot peppers, the black pudding is what I call least but with a lot of flavor and for the main course we ordered a suckling pig in the middle to share and then each one a sirloin I recommend making this "move" since I prefer the sirloin before the lamb, despite being their specialty.
In the suckling pig they sin a little because of the quantity, they should put a little more quantity but it is still correct. The juicy meat and the super crispy skin accompanied by a couple of potatoes, the super juicy sirloin melted and accompanied by bakery potatoes to my taste, a little greasy.
Very attentive service and then they allowed us to go see the bottom where they had the bottles and the oven that has not been turned off since the first time it was turned on.
You cannot go to Madrid and not eat at this restaurant as it is pure history.
Excellent service, agility and elegance, high quality food, cozy place, warmth, respect and promptness. Recommend with eyes closed! Great!!!
Great experience, very good food and a historic trip to top it off.
Authentic and traditional simple Spanish food with a unique ambience where you can sit within a "small stone carved area underground" to enjoy the historic magnificence of this place's menu. The food is simply flavoured since traditionally , food simply prepared this way 300+ years ago The waiters are all dressed up traditionally as well, looking very smart. Great experience
I loved the place. Very picturesque. Wonderful food. Perfect sangria. First-rate service. Superb dessert. It is worth visiting, because it is the oldest restaurant in the world still in operation.
The oldest restaurant in the world in continuous activity! What to talk about? Just experience the experience of having been there!
Unique experience while eating at the oldest restaurant in the world. Courteous waiters and delicious food.
Spectacular food, excellent service, cozy place, wonderful !!
It is a great place to eat. The building is filled with history. It is small and some places feel packed in but that's what you get with a place that has been open since 1725. The roast suckling pig is great but watch out, it's extremely rich so it's hard to eat a lot of it. The chocolate ice cream is perfect! Make reservations, it's worth it!!
Assuming this is indeed the oldest restaurant in the world, its cool to eat there once. Food is average. Do not expect extraordinary food or exceptional services. It's also above average and pricey. The total bill for four who really didn't drink to eat much was about $300.
An incredible place we a lot of history. My girlfriend and I went there for san valentine and they let us visit the XVI century basement where they used to store the wines. Truly a great experience and great food
Very good Indian food in a beautiful place with good service. The spectacular vegetable meatballs. The price contained, taking into account the other factors. Quiet and pleasant, fast and friendly service. Quiet and pleasant, fast and friendly service.
There is a reason this is the oldest restaurant in the world that is still open; The food is outstanding. We ordered chicken and squid, both dishes were outrageously delicious. After your meal they give you a little wooden spoon to take home as a souvenir. I d have eaten there again during our stay if it wasn t so difficult to get a table.
Unique and historical
You have to book early this one. If so you will probably have the opportunity to book the beautiful basement with the most interesting atmosphere
food is great and the old smells are all around you.
The food was very rich and the place is spectacular. Indeed you can see the antiquity everywhere, now, I think they have prices a little above the average, which could be better. In general good site.
A special place to visit in Madrid, with the recognition of being the oldest restaurant in the world. Its traditional menu and 18th century oven make everything even more representative. The staff was kind and More
Based on the fact that I can put V because I visited this restaurant then ok. But the second time I won t go there. Of course the restaurant is beautiful, the service is top notch but the food I didn t really like. Everything is kind of fresh, without salt. In general, I reassured myself that this menu is 300 years old
Legend has it that it is the oldest restaurant in the world. This is just another pretext to visit it, the atmosphere is very traditional and gives it a very particular charm, we had suckling pig for dinner and it was very tasty, the attention of the staff was very good even when the place was full. In short, a traditional restaurant with a great atmosphere, good service and delicious food. Be careful, it is not cheap but it is worth it.
The oldest restaurant in the world. The food was very tasty and the service was great. Price is a bit expensive but worth it ...
Lovely and Cozy place, great Family Restaurant and delicious food !
Friendly place with some good history, lamb speciality was a little too salty/oily.
Mythical site, very good attention from your personal professional
We had a great dinner in here years ago and it was delicious. The atmosphere is unbelievable and it was packed, we booked for 23.00 and had to wait for our table while we enjoyed a bottle of Cava, we ate in the cellar and enjoyed everything . We will certainly return next time in Madrid.
Food of all life very good desserts: I ordered Catalan cream.
, very friendly waiters. And the price is not very expensive
Delightful!!! The ambiance was amazing. The staff was professional and courteous. A great experience!
Spectacular. First class service attention. Premium food quality.
We really wanted to go to see the oldest restaurant in the world for a long time and we finally went the other day.
It is a Castilian-style restaurant with several floors designed in two environments. The ground floor are beautiful caves in which they reserved a table for us.
Being a large table we ordered several starters and a main course per person. Our tasting was some peppers with belly and some homemade ham croquettes as starters. And as main the hake triumphed since it was the most requested dish. Those of us who dared with the meat ordered suckling pig and sirloin. SPECTACULAR
We will be back!!
The oldest restaurant in activity in Madrid, with a variety of dishes, the place and historical.
Wonderful !!! I ate the roast pork, a typical dish in the restaurant.
Went there for the suckling pig and was not disappointed.
The place is also very interesting being the oldest running restaurant in the world.
A very old establishment with many famous visitors. The piglet and the lamb are unbeatable. Expensive, but worth going if only for a family celebration. Rustic atmosphere but comfortable and pleasant.
I booked a table for 6 adults online 3 days prior, not a good time for dining(3:30 pm), it is popular though. We order white and red wine, some dishes, maybe 8, and the waiter suggested not to order anymore, he thought too much for us. Total 170 euro. They served the food guickly, I liked it, 'cause we were too hungry. I suggested must-eat in Madrid. Do not forget the basement seats.
Real delicious stuffs there! Especially the preserved red pepper! Ever try red pepper like that good! And the lemon sorbet with vodka is a must to have after the meal!
Restaurant above what I expected. I thought it was famous just because of its history, but the food is wonderful.
I ate an unforgettable partridge
The oldest restaurant in the world. Ernest hemmingway ate here and you can see his table. Worth the wait. Make reservations before hand. Delicious meal and out standing wine. Ask to see the wine cellar.
Very hospitable and very friendly.
I went without reservation as I wanted to see the restaurant, and as I was on my own I didn t think I would get a table. I spoke to the staff stating that I just wanted to take a few pictures, and maybe order a dessert at a quiet table, but the waiter was kind enough to give me a whole table at a prime location in the restaurant while there were still queues of tourists waiting. The staff were very attentive throughout my whole experience, and it was a lovely ambience: worth a visit!
It is so much history in one place that the food comes in the background (But it's very good).
In these times that we are going through, it is the ideal time for Madrid and those who live nearby to visit it, it is a must at least once
Apparently it is the oldest restaurant in the world. I do not know if it's possible and I will not judge it. It really looks like a restaurant with a huge tradition and history. It has an amazing and unique atmosphere. You must at least see.
I recommend to all people the experience of going to eat at the oldest restaurant in the world !! It is a unique experience!! The food is very tasty and the place ... Imagine, unbeatable! The house wine very rich! The suckling pig is delicious, but I thought the lamb was spectacular!
Very tasty and juicy suckling pig, the skin is so crunchy! The service is good, nice old school ambiance, well maintained and clean! truly the oldest restuarant in the world. But the bread could b served warm, still deserve 5 stars from me!
It s like a canteen that serves good food, but ten times more expensive than what it should be. This restaurant just capitalises on its fame. Eating here feels like being part of an industrial mechanism that is aimed at maximising revenue. You are greeted by an army of waiters who are in charge for allocating customers to different seating areas. Tables are crammed in every space in order to get as many people seated as possible at once. Hence you find yourself in an incredibly crowded and loud room, but there s nothing charming or authentic about the feeling, despite the beautiful decor. The service is super fast, you almost have no time to breathe between one dish and the next. The waiters don t even look at you. The food is really good, but overall the experience is forgettable, as you feel like you re just another cow being milked in a battery.
A restaurant he loved
We got roasted piglet and spagel.
It was delicious with crispy skin, spagel is a normal thing because it is a seasonal thing.
Its a cool place to go to and you can brag about eating in the oldest restaurant in the world. 2 plates of the pork, bread and sangria was around 63 Euros. Tables are too close to the point its uncomfortable to sit. The pig was pretty good, the potatoes were better though, but silverware seemed dirty. The server was rude and clearly treated us rudely. You are not really informed of the extra costs which wasn't a huge deal but would've been nice to know. Bread was extremely hard and when we asked if we could get a different basket they told us they would charge us extra, even though we didn't eat the bread. We ordered sangria and to my surprise while I was drinking it there was A FREAKING FLY IN IT! When I let the server know he didn't believe me and instead of not charging us for the sangria with the fly in it he brought another half a jug basically when we were all done with our dinner, so there really wasn't a purpose to it. Also, Instead of acknowledging or apologizing he just brushed off and instantly said it wasn't the restaurant's fault. It would've been more worth it in you eat downstairs because of photo ops but besides that I wouldn't really recommend it. If you do go try to make sure you get a place downstairs so make a reservation. Also if you are a man and your sleeves are too short or sleeveless, they won't let you in. They will provide a shirt but pretty much after they say it loudly and people look at you (it happened to a gentleman that was trying to get a table with his date) both the man and woman looked embarrassed. The restaurant is basically luring people with the title of oldest restaurant. There are definitely more affordable option at the grand plaza that are also beautiful and theres a great atmosphere.
Considered the oldest restaurant still operating, located in a magical corner of Madrid, they are the prelude to the best suckling pig I've tasted, accompanied by a fantastic wine in an incredible place, I rate it with a 5, deservedly for the tradition that it brings . If you visit this city reserve a time to visit it it is worth a moderate cost.
The only highlight from this trip is that we are at the oldest restaurant in the world. I wouldn t recommend it for food; there are many restaurants around with better and cheaper food. The food was bland.
My main restaurant in Madrid, whenever I want to show my friends the most traditional Madrid. It never disappoints, excellent dishes, wines and service.
The oldest restaurant.
Cool interior. Very friendly employees.
Delicious dishes. And the price is cheap.
This house is very high.
Amazing Restaurant, one of my favorites in the world.
Food is just on point.
Appetizers were amazing, we had fried artichoke.
Steak for the entree which was just really amazing.
Love the history of this place. the staff was very friendly. Yea its a bit touristy but I really enjoyed it as a stand alone restaurant. Wine was flowin
Best roast pork and lamb , side dishes were not so good , nice atmosphere can be very crowded better make reservation also open till late , kids friendly.
... the oldest restaurant in the world still open !!!
Excellent attention. Accessible prices The delicious food. We will be back soon!
Amazing place with long history and interesting interior. The traditional dishes were tasty.
The oldest restaurant in the world. Gastronomic Temple of Castellana food. Unsurpassable suckling pig. Magnificent meats Traditional treatment and very correct. Inevitable visit
Oldest operating restaurant in the world and prices are not that expensive. Great service, great food. Beautiful place, be sure to visit the 3 floors.
Very tasty food in the oldest restaurant in the world. Very good service. It is worth going at least once.
Friends said we had to visit this landmark restaurant. Very glad we did! We showed up on a Saturday night at 9pm with no reservations and the host found us a table (small quiet room on main floor - we later toured the restaurant at our waiter's encouragement and saw there were two upper floors and a basement - all very vibrant - would have preferred those but we were lucky to get seated at all). I had steak that was excellent and my wife had her first-ever roast suckling pig (she probably won't have it again but for one time only, this was the place to have it). Dinner for two with drinks was 85 euro - the cost/ quality compared to NYC restaurants is an incredible value. Highly recommend - great meal and you become part of history.
Everything we hoped for after watching Anthony Bourdain's experience there. The gazpacho and suckling pig were especially good. Waiters were very attentive and we had no trouble communicating in English
Great experience, loved the place. The food and service were great!
A wonderful experience! Extraordinarily delicious food. The best sangria in Madrid. Very well trained and elegant staff. Fast and professional service! Prices Very Ok!
The taste is good. Atmosphere is the best. Humming Way feels like an extra genre
It is an incredible Spanish flavored experience! A must go. You definetly have to try "Morcilla" if you want to start your experience in the perfect way
Nice restaurant, but expensive. A sole with two potatoes and a fillet of beef, with two potatoes and peppers, all without sauce, half carafe of sangria and red wine, 82.00 euros. We can eat better for less than that. We pay the frame.
Beyond our expectations. Excellent food, service and ambiance. It's understandable why this restaurant has withstood the test of time. Highly recommended!
The location is superb, the staff is nice and welcoming (After dinner they also gave us a tour of the building). I tried the famous pig and I liked it, but my lady got a veal steak that was completely plain and tasteless. The potatoes we got as side were also quite tasteless. Dessert was very good. Overall we had a nice time, but the place is way too overpriced for the quality of the food. The price and the quality of the food was partially made up for by the historical building which was really cool.
Traditional classic food site.It is worth it for the history and the enclave
A long-awaited restaurant. Set the Guinness record of the oldest store in the world, Hemingway has been here.
[Environment] In general, the clerk took me to the restaurant in the kitchen. The kitchen was dirty and I didn't like it anyway.
[Service] The waiter is very warm and the service is good.
Summary: Friends who have just arrived in Spain don't miss this restaurant
Iconic restaurant, the oldest in the world, with excellent food and careful service. It is worth to go, you are just very satisfied. Essential visit in Madrid
It is not the food, but the atmosphere that makes this place great. Sure, you can get a better or cheaper meal somewhere else, but this restaurant is special. It has a history and it shows.
The staff is amazingly professional and kind, the menu is pretty traditional so just go for it. This is old Madrid at it's finest.
Declared as the "oldest restaurant", we really enjoyed spending the evening at Botin, the food was great (we had the set menu with the suckling pig - absolutely delicious!), great atmosphere, it was a treat! We arrived around 10pm on a Friday night without reservation and we were lucky to get in as the place was fully booked in another 30min. Highly recommend.
I loved the service from the entrance to the end is 10 star from the chef to the chef Filipe was a wonderful, attentive service recommending 200%
Very good although a bit expensive, with the fork they make you 30% and it is well priced.
Pork in the oven to try absolutely. I recommend the menu
Great place, incredible food. The steak was AMAZING! THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD!
Outstanding service. The waiters were very friendly and efficient. Had a ham and chicken croqueta which was tasty and also tried the garlic/egg soup which was something I would not order again (flavorful and unique but not for my specific More
