Worldest oldest restaurant has the worlds WORST service. Your wait staff is arrogant, rude, impolite and outright disrespectful. We had to leave becuase the waiter wouldnt take our order (are you racist? is me and my family being brown a problem for you?) Either adapt to changing times or shut your place down.

Another tip - if you prefer vegetarian food, dont bother going here, there is zero inclusivity (and dont respond to this post writing some garbage that you serve cheese, asparagus and a side of rice - some BS) Same advise - upgrade according to times or shut down.

Absolutely ridiculous.

They say it's the oldest restaurant in the world. Specialties are the roasted suckling pig and the roasted lamb but portions can vary a lot according to the part of the animal you get. The quality of the food is excellent but the process are very high too.

A historic restaurant. Take advantage to visit all the floors from the cellar to the second, you will be fascinated. Very attentive staff, equipped cellar. Discreet starters, excellent artichokes, discrete asparagus, mushrooms of a species not rich but cooked really well. They are famous for their baked pig, to try, you will like it. Good sweets. Account adequate to the food and the name.

All the food is good here and the prices are high as it is often full of tourists.
However due to the medieval floor plan, no space is particularly large and so with the friendly service you feel cozy while eating your roast suckling pig, for which this restaurant is rightly famous.

The building is absolutely gorgeous. Went for a friend s goodbye and booked for the afternoon when it s not so busy. It s not cheap for a Spanish restaurant but the setting makes it worth it. Seating upstairs and also on the cellar (Which is the oldest part) you get given a menu with the history of the restaurant in either Spanish or English. They specialise in cochinito which is an oven baked pig. Still cooked in the same oven that was there when the restaurant first opened. Magnificent.

Exemplary service and fine dining.

Needs to be booked well in advance but worth it. I had filled mignon and the meat, sauce and mushrooms were velvety. House wine is more than acceptable but they have a good wine list as well.

Well I did not really like the truth ... We asked for suckling pig and it was dry, it was not juicy and it did not hurt that it is theirs ... For dessert a rice with milk that was good and little more ..

If the restaurant is already worth it, the food is delicious, the lamb, the suckling pig, the croquettes and the battered lamb trotters are sucking their fingers and especially highlighting the friendliness and attention of the Waiters. For about 40 euros per person, it's worth it. I recommend it

I remember that the fillet mignon and asparagus were more delicious than the other menus. Honestly, the taste of food is just for price, but it has a symbolic meaning. We visited underground reservations and the servers are very busy with English but they are friendly.

My experience in the oldest restaurant in the world was not good. An apathetic waiter who did not recommend anything when requested and told him we were tourists! The seafood casserole very poor quality when paecer was reheated several times and old, the piglet completely dry and finally a good cod but it came out without any garnish which the waiter should have asked! The neutral attentions made us feel in the heat of the people of Madrid! In the end the account about 100 euros! Sorry my experience. I hope others are 5 stars!

With such a history background it definitely worth going. Foods are great and the portions are a little huge. We ordered gazpacho (tomato cold soup) and amazingly it s not bad here. Services are excellent maybe because all the waiters already get used to seeing so many tourist . It s a little bit packed inside so please do not come with your luggages... btw, we have to pass thru the kitchen to get to our table which is quite interesting.

The hype for "the first restaurant in the world" is real.

4 stars for the marinated peppers with cod (dip the bread in this goodness), cochillon (roast suckling pig, a crowd pleaser), fish casserole (my favorite main, but that's 'cause I prefer seafood over pork), roast chicken & dessert. The squid is definitely passable.

It's a place of tradition, so I visited and tried a typical dish, but the taste is definitely not good. Pork also has a slightly fishy scent, but it's still the old way, so I think it's a good idea.

The tripe starter was fantastic, but it all went down the hill from there: both the lamb and piglet roasts were nicely cooked but very bland, and so were the potatos and veg.
Overpriced and underwhelming, I wouldn't recommend.

Botin is considered to be the oldest restaurant in the world making it a unique dining experience. The food is classical and good but with the small portions maybe a bit overpriced. However overall it was an enjoyable dinner experience if you know what you will be getting

Very famous restaurant for being the oldest in the world with a Guinness World Record certification.

Arranged over 3 floors with a basement dug in the stone and very popular with tourists.

Do not miss the pig cooked in the original stone oven.

According to the Guinness Book of Records it is the oldest restaurant in the world and dates from 1725! On the occasion of a Graduation ceremony, I was invited to this place to enjoy a typical Spanish lunch and the quality of its products and the attention was spectacular. The garlic soup with egg and the diversity of dishes was all exquisite. The Restaurant itself is a work of art, be impressed by the antiques and history in each of its corners. I recommend it, it is a very special place and the food very well prepared. The attention of its staff is very deferential and fast.

As one of the oldest restaurant in the world, it was a great experience to visit Sobrino de Botin. We made the reservation through hotel concierge in order to get better seating experience. As a surprised, we got the chance to sit at the underground level with the old scenery stone/brick wall and olden age table and side table. It was really amazing. the staff is very helpful and can speak english well too. I got the chance to peek at the wine cellar which was very dark. The food was pretty simple and tasty. We came definitely for the suckling pig and it was very juicy.

I have been eating in Casa Botin for over 40 years and it remains one of the truly great dining experiences of a lifetime. I owned the first restaurant in Tribeca, Riverrun, as well as several Manhattan bars so I have always been an "aficionado" of food and wine.
To go to Botin is to enter into Spain of another era. The service is impeccable; the food as good as it gets and the overall atmosphere cannot be duplicated.
I never , ever go to Madrid without dining at Botin, in my mind, the world's great restaurant!
Do yourself a favor and go. I guarantee you will never forget it.

Over rated. Snooty, poor service by waiters who are indifferent and rude. The food is fine but not necessarily impressive. I had the Chicken Consomme at 7.10 and the Chicken Fricassee with almond sauce, which was decent and priced at 18.25. My take is that the selling point here is simply the bragging rights about eating here.

A restaurant of typical Castilian cuisine correct in all its facets. Perhaps I would highlight the quality and the point of their roasts and the careful attention of their staff.

If you can, ask them to show you their oven, a jewel.

The restaurant, which was opened in 1725, impresses with its interior. Staff is extremely friendly, helps in choosing dishes, describes cusine with passion. You feel the travel back in time and that you are welcome. As for food, it's hard for me to judge. Unfortunately everything except cheese was with meat, even garlic soup, so I was disappointed, but I had wine to wipe my tears... But I can describe the reaction of my partner, he traveled back to childhood, like in Ratatouille. He was speechless, but his face said all. An important place to visit, you will surely remember.

The ambience is good, if you go for that sort of thing. The service is nice, and they will try to accommodate for you if you have some need. Otherwise, the place is nothing to write home about, other than getting the notch for "I ate in the oldest restaurant!". The prices are not scandalous, but they're a bit high for the quality they offer. You can definitely do much better for the same prices, or even lower.

Booked the table a week before, really good service, indescribable food. The most famous dish, the roast suckling pig, is really one of the best things I have eaten. Sangria is also noteworthy. If you go to Madrid, it is really worth going to Hemingway's favorite restaurant. Warmly recommended.

It is the world's oldest restaurant registered in the Guinness Book. I visited beautifully twice, but eating is a dream. The miniature display is very nice. When I first came in at around 21:00 on the night of 2014, the old town from the 18th century was completely dark and I thought, "I would be scared if I lost my way here." But I want you to stay with such oldness
You may not be able to eat small pig yaki, but I would like to eat raw ham and omelette, and the food of Castilla.
