My experience with those working at this library h...

My experience with those working at this library has been well and above other libraries I have visited, including national, international, and religious libraries. The staff here is very friendly, and they also are willing to look into books, issues, and discussion topics that I have had. They are very diverse in what they offer, which all libraries should. They offer many exciting events as well as live music at some points.

I've noticed that the reviews that are less than 3 stars normally mention the issues of fines and things.

This is not an issue with the library. This is an issue with not returning the book on time, which is the sole problem of those who check them out. The library must issue a form of punishment for those who are not responsible with their rentals. It's only fair.

A public library does need funding from the public. most of the revenue generated comes from fines and overdue books. I'm in full support of them. Just don't return the books late and there won't be a fine.

Also, the issue of the drag show going on there is a non-issue. The library is a place to explore opposing view points. There are plenty of other events going on there for kids, adults, teen, and other groups as well. The fact that one event was something that person didn't agree with doesn't matter. Just don't go.

Keep up the good work, librarians.

The public library of Eau Claire has a clean and well organized interior. It is a tri-level building with materials for check out on the 1st and second floor, and conference rooms on the lower level. It is seated right near the Eau Claire river.
While parking right near the building is sometimes inconvenient - 2 rows of free parking exist in a lot across S. Dewey St, and is a short walk to the building.
We personally love the children's programs and section of the library with computers, books, dvds, audio books, CDs and more.
All these materials can be found in the adult section of the library as well as internet access (with a library card) and up to 10 free pages of printing. It also has a section for teachers that contains resources and materials for check out, and tools (such as a die cutting machine).
This library is on the bus route and is Handicap Accessible.
I have been going to this facility for over 20 years and still find new materials and areas of interest when I visit.

While the library has a fairly good book collection, it doesn't have anything else going for it. The employees are unfriendly and sometimes just down right nasty, they like to make-up fines for items that were turned in on the due date, and when you confront them about the fine, they like to argue with you and accuse you of lying. After turning in things that were due in one of the various book drops around the city, I was told during my next visit that all of my items (which included a few DVDs, which have a higher fine) had been a day late. I thought at first that it was just an honest mix-up, so after I explained that I had turned them in on time at a drop bow, they dropped the fine. But then it kept happening whenever I dropped an item off at a book drop on the due date. I soon reached the conclusion that in order to not be fined, you had to drive all the way to the library before they closed on the day your things were due. After getting annoyed about being told I had a huge fine every time I went in to the library to check out more items, I asked if there was some policy that I wasn't aware of that stated books had to be dropped of at book drops by a certain time on certain days or else they were overdue. The employee I was asking said that there wasn't and grudgingly agreed to drop my fine, but was very rude about it. I decided not to check out items from the library again because I was fed up with their crap. But then this year, when I received my state tax return, or rather, didn't receivesome of it because the library had taken it to pay for my fines (the ones that were bogus and supposedly dropped). Poor quality is still too good of a rating. Do yourselves a favor people and avoid this library!!!

Great staff, great selection, a lot of extra programs being offered. Every time I go in here, I find well more than I will be able to reasonably read, watch, or listen to. The building is a bit 70s, but timeless architecture isn't exactly a strong suite in Eau Claire.

The library provides books, internet access, children and teen programming, adult book groups, dvd's, cd's, video games in several formats, has an art gallery on the second floor, awesome librarians, and a user-friendly electronic catalog. LOVE the library.

I have periodically visited this Library almost every single year for over 20 years, and have never been disappointed or had issue with the staff or other services. This library is definitely a few notches above the other local libraries in other cities and towns nearby.

Eau Claire Community is very fortunate to have access to a variety of information. My family takes advantage of the selection of movies, books and online information. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Keep making a difference in our community.

Thank you,

Kids summer reading program is great! Set your own reading goals and work toward prizes! My daughter (6th grade) loves to read and chose a new book for her first prize.... which she finished reading in a week! Love all the different activities and shows available too!

It's the best library in the area, which all share the same network. We come from 20 miles away, instead of our much smaller local library. The kids area is terrific, with books, movies, music, games and toys to play with, including an iPad station. They have occasional entertainment in the basement, multiple bathrooms. You could spend a long time in here. They have the largest selection of media I've seen in a library. Thousands of cds, movies, and a handful of video games as well. The only issues are the occasional influx of some "less desirable" members of the community looking for some a/c, and parking is very limited.

Fun, motivating summer reading programs; interlibrary loan; nice selection of books for children, teens, and adults; library seed exchange; and so much more. Metered parking on street (by the Eau Claire river :-) ) as well as a parking garage (don't think I've ever used this). I've spent hours at a time, here! Book worms will love it!

I came and used the library for my school work before I had wifi at home. You're guaranteed to find some interesting people here... They seem to have a good selection of books and there are typically computers open to use.

This library is HUGE! I've been to a lot of libraries and this one is definitely in my top 3! There are SO MANY BOOKS!!! The staff is super nice too. I'm always asking really dumb questions like "where is the basement" and "how does the printer work" and they're always SO nice.
