Came here while on an overnight trip to the area. First off, I think the $3 parking fee is reasonable, especially for how nice of a place this is. We didn't know until the last second that they recommend casual wear, which we didn't have. Oops! However, they didn't even bring up our attire and didn't turn us away. That was my first green flag.

The service in general is wonderful! Everyone was super nice and answered our questions well about the unfamiliar menu items. The atmosphere is relaxing and VERY clean. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time considering how many people were here.

The chicken liver and foie gras mousseline is incredible! I literally just spooned some of it like ice cream! This was only the second time i've had escargot, but it was really good and tender! The garlic fennel butter was delicious! My entree was the "Pork two Ways." Yum! That's all i got to say! The pork shank was tender as can be, and so was the pork belly, which by the way is the best I've had at a restaurant so far. The sauce that came with the pork was amazing, literally drinkable. The caulifower was fantastic as well. If all vegetables tasted this good, I'd be a vegetarian :) Finally, the Creme Caramel. It tasted like the best flan I've ever had, with a more custardy taste and texture.

The maitre d came out to ask how our meal was. We told her we were in the area on a trip and told her how enjoyable the meal was. She was super nice and appreciated our feedback, adding to the wonderful service here.

Finally, I thought the pricing for what you get here is very reasonable. Most people will tell you it's expensive, but for the quality of the food, I think not. Overall it was a truly enjoyable restaurant experience, one of the best I've ever had at a restaurant.

Choucroute Garnie is seldom on menus where I now live, and I have a kind of sentimental attachment to the dish - in my teens, I lived in France for a couple of years, and worked for some time as a garcon de cuisine at the Chateau de Louche in Anet sur Marne. I saw it on the web menu, so I decided to try L'Albatros when visiting Cleveland. Being on a low-carbohydrate diet, I ordered two appetisers and the choucroute. The leeks were good, although the serving was small. The rillettes were nothing of the sort; more like a pink potted pork product. As for the choucroute... The kraut for choucroute should be rinsed, then poached in white wine. The kraut here was never rinsed, much less wine poached. Of the meats, only the pork belly was acceptable. There was a piece of ham, but it was dry, and salted beyond all civilized limits. The other meats were a peppery Mexican chorizo, and German weisswurst. A very bad joke...

I had the pleasure of going to dinner at this FANTASTIC place last Friday night. To say everything was perfect would be a complete understatement... The food was outstanding, the service was excellent and the atmosphere on the back patio was truly majestic! Make sure you stop in this spot for dinner and drinks sooner than later. It is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! Cheers!

The food and service here was excellent. I ordered the French Onion Soup and the Sausage Platter and had a wonderful meal. My partner used to come here back when they attended Case and made sure to share this treasure with me and I was gracious for that experience.

What impressed me most was the service. It is rare now for servers to know proper way of serving food and drinks. I give four stars, still needs work on the food. The duck was way over dry and the veggie puree way too heavy in cream/butter/oil losing it's natural fresh taste. Cod was delicious, again needs less oil. The fat added to a food is to enhance the food and NOT drown the taste. Even though I like a creative interpretation of a classic, I was not impressed with the chocolate nepolian dessert

The food here is delicious, the staff is amazing, and it s a very cute restaurant. However, if you intend to visit, please avoid Valentine s Day. We made a reservation a month prior, it was our first visit, and it was overwhelming. The More

I cannot wait to return! I love french cuisine and this tucked away restaurant does a fantastic job. (see my other reviews if you doubt my knowledge of french cuisine) The escargot and frozen souffles are a must haves! My party also had duck and muscles avec frites.

Impress your friends with this lovely little food hub. The name is strange but the food is tasty! (not for those who want to be extremely full upon departure). Beautiful contemporary setting with low lights, very romantic, delicious menu items with a nice variety. The waiter can translate for you if you don't know what the items are (or how to pronounce them). The seating is a little tight so if you're a big one you might want to sit on the patio on a sunny day.
If you are looking for a unique place to dine with a great relaxed atmosphere visit L'Albatros where you will not be disappointed.
Prices are not for a cheap wallet nor an expensive one. Be prepared to spend $60 - $75 on two to three people.
Not for kids, you would just drive everyone crazy, don't do it.
Great for business, couples, and singles.
Yes they have a bar.
Yes you can make reservations.
Love it!
Great service, very clean.
Even the bathroom is artsy.

We decided to try this restaurant as part of our weekend getaway. It did not disappoint! We came during the COVID pandemic. All restaurant staff wore masks appropriately, and I saw several cleaning and washing/sanitizing their hands. Tables were spaced to adhere to social distancing, and they had a digital menu. I honestly had no worries about safety while dining here.

The food was amazing. Portion sizes were huge. My husband tried the escargot, I had French onion soup. Our entrees were amazing as well. We decided to split dessert and tried the chocolate Napoleon- the server offered us to have the kitchen split the dessert and it was very helpful. It was the perfect ending to dinner.

We were greeted and checked in on by many different staff members. Water was never left too empty and dishes were cleared promptly. If we're ever back in the area, we would definitely come again!

Right by Case Western, this cozy little restaurant has food that is simply out of this world. Some of the best lamb I have ever eaten, the mussels were great, and the accompaniments were outstanding as well. Kudos to the chef and wait staff. I would have included a picture but my meal was gone

Great restaurant just next to Case Western Reserve University. While I'm not someone who cares a lot about what is in my mouth (if something is just a little over edible, then I won't complain that much so it will be hard for me to give 5 stars), but my wife cares, a Lot. Her opinion is this rivals the Little Italy restaurant in Cleveland, perhaps even better because of more original flavor.

We had a nice experience at this Cleveland standard. Overall our plates were nice. We truly enjoyed the cassoulet. The scallops were okay and pasta were okay. That dish seemed to be missing something in its complexity. It would have been nice to have someone help us select from the wine list, but they were representative of good French wine. The bacon and frisee salad was good, but the bacon was very tough making it difficult to chew and fatiguing our jaws. My wife loved the french onion soup. The ambiance is nice from the front door and throughout the restaurant which sorry of feels like you are walking through a friends house. This restaurant holds true to others from Zack Bruell with a mostly finished dining experience at an approachable price for a lavish date night without feeling overwhelmed by the people or the menu.

The good.... Many menu options. We tried assorted cheese tray where server presents options. This was cool. The bad... entrees we're disappointing for the price. Use of salt over the top (crutch?). We also had a bottle of wine which was cheap corner store quality for $45...why have it on the menu. If your measure of a restaurant is how much you spend, you will love it.

Outstanding meal and sitting on the patio was delightful! Great wine, Chinon & Vouvray. Dinner was Salmon & Lentils, Scallops & Pasta. Every flavor was amazing. Felt very safe. Need to wear masks to your table. They do take your temperature when you arrive. We watched them disinfect tables as diners left. But it was very discreet & did not take away from the dining experience at all. So nice to be out & have a somewhat normal experience & evening!

3yrs ago I stumbled across L'Albatros walking off some anxiety while a good friend was getting an organ transplant. The meal & service I received here stuck with me such that I came back for another meal while in Cleveland.

The service & food are still as excellent as I remember.

Tonight, I ordered the duck comfit with a lovely wine the server suggested. The dish was everything I needed after a hectic day of appts. The duck was tender, moist & seasoned wonderfully. The gravy mixed with the sweet potatoes in a lovely not-too-sweet & savory way. The cabbage was a nice acid balance to the other ingredients.

I ordered the creme caramel for dessert when my server informed me their mead was out. It was a 2nd choice but was lovely & rich with the caramel having smokey undertones.

I left nourished body & soul.

First, thank you for requiring that everyone wears a mask. Super safe for everyone. Then how ingenious is it that you have a QR code for downloading the menu: Everyone can read the menu on their phone without passing physical menus around. The patio looked beautiful and comfortable and accommodated all of the groups there.

Delightful restaurant: best atmosphere, service, and food as an overall complete experience. Comprehensive food and drink menu, with extensive cheese board service. Elegant setting, relaxed atmosphere. This is a place that consistently gets it right.

Very romantic, lovely atmosphere. It's the nicest place to eat in Cleveland. Excellent selection of food to choose from, and the chicken confit was delicious! The service was also excellent.

Absolutely fantastic. I had the fois gras and escargot for appetizers, both of which were stellar. For my main course, I had the duck confit. It was also very good with the sweet potato mash and sauteed cabbage. However, I personally like the cassoulet better--it gives you more of a taste for their wide range of food. For dessert I had the grapefruit icecream which was a perfect end to a perfect meal. One of the best meals I've had in 2018. Genuinely cannot reccomend enough.

I got the escargot first. Very different from what we know in France but still really good. Best one I had in the US so far. Then ordered the cassoulet which was still really different from what I know. However, the meal was really good, plenty of different kind of meat. Worth it.
Just remember that the restaurant is located in a small street. Can be tricky to see it at first (especially if your uber driver drops you on a random parking) but just follow Google maps.

I had a meal with friends here over the holidays. The food was overall good and the service was fine. A couple of things bothered me however. I used to work at this restaurant years ago when it was called "That Place on Bellflower." Back then it was super classy. Now, I must say that some of the artwork is really low brow. There are a couple of photos of bent silverware. Really? The worst though is in the men's room where there are two photoshopped photos both of men playing golf off of women's pubic hair and abdomens. These images are juvenile and unbelievable that a restaurant would have these in 2019!!! I said something to the manager and he blew off my criticism saying, "We get lots of compliments on those pictures." Would they dare put them in public view? No of course not. If any women ever saw these images they would never choose to eat here. This place needs a real update in class level to match the good food.
