Wonderful setting in the beautiful Case Western Reserve campus. Appetizers were fantastic, we loved the artichoke with the surprising lemon tangy dipping sauce. Salad was great but the French Onion soap was amazing. The shredded beef was an unexpected but enjoyable addition. Prices are reasonable and the wine and cocktail menus are well curated.

Delicious food, but somewhat slow service. Comped our dessert as apology. Friendly staff, very helpful in choosing gluten free options (though my first 2 choices couldn't be made gluten free).

I had a recent experience i would like to share, I called ahead last week for a special 5 course dinner for me and my wife, it was our 30th anniversary and we were in the area and decide to go there, the food was very good I must say and I would recommend it, my problem was the portions we received, I dont know if they knew exactly what I wanted but it seemed like we were served all appetizer portions and when it came to the entree round we got one scallop each, which again looked like a appetizer. I didnt want to make a scene or ruin the night for my wife so i just kept quiet.

When i got to my office the next day I contact them and explained what happen and that i felt cheated and unsatisfied with the experience, I received a response within a few hours.

He apologized for the mistake and the experienced and actually offered me a refund me a large portion of my bill, I explained that my issue was not the food but the way it was presented and the portions we were given.

I then suggested we instead visit one of the other restaurant they own and whatever credit be forwarded there, he agreed and made us reservations at Parallax in Tremont, We went there and everything was arranged we sat down and had another amazing meal, manger and staff were great we had an awesome waitress and the food was very good, overall another 5 stars for them.

I wanted to share this because I don't mind paying big bucks for dinner as long as its an enjoyable experience and I think there are many people out there like me, it does feel good to see that this owner cares enough to make it right and serves as an example to other establishments as too what is expected of them when a customer is not happy, that is how you keep a customer coming back and I assure you I will.

Great food, really nice atmosphere! They get booked up really fast, so sometimes you need to make reservations days, or even weeks in advance, depending on the occasion or holiday, but they've been really consistent!

Elegant, quiet, sophisticated yet comfortable and unpretentious. I truly enjoyed everything. The food, service, friendly staff, and ambiance. A metaphor for the people of Cleveland themselves.

We stopped by for dinner on a Monday night. It was pretty busy for a Monday night. Despite the wierd entrance by the kitchen it turned out to be a great experience. Our server was very knowledgeable and helped us with the menu. We tried their cheese as what you should do in a French restaurant. They had at least 20 different types of cheese. The food and the drinks were really good. Not a huge portion but really tasty. I would recommend this place.

The restaurant itself is beautiful and the experience for our Friday dinner was just perfect. We shared the French Toast and I had the French Onion Soup; both were spectacular. For my main course I had the Duck Confit which was absolutely delicious.

Place was hopping, Zack Bruell himself was at the pass, very, very impressive food and wine. Silky chicken liver mousse (a huge portion), zingy arugula salad with a ton of parmesan, handsome artichoke, just a ton of classics (and their traditional sauces) done in a totally pleasing way. Our server seemed new, which my dining companions assure me is unusual for this restaurant, but we were in no hurry and got everything sorted out. In fact, we had to be informed that the kitchen was closing at 9. So take the posted hours with a grain of salt. Hanger steak was an excellent piece of meat, with "a point" fries. The highlight was clearly the cheese tray, though. The French stalwarts you'd expect with newcomers to keep it interesting, all presented with encyclopedic knowledge by the cheese server. Whoever does their buying and affinage really knows what they are doing! The beverage list is similar, a mix of known quality names and lesser-known gems. Would love to come back for a long lunch on the patio next year.

The food and service here was excellent. I ordered the French Onion Soup and the Sausage Platter and had a wonderful meal. My partner used to come here back when they attended Case and made sure to share this treasure with me and I was gracious for that experience.

This place was good, but a little pricey (not only the menu; having to pay $2 just to park was annoying). They served the duck in a small container smooshed against the sweet potatoes and onions, which annoyed my partner. My burger was good (sauce was great) but the grilled peppers on it didn't really add anything to the experience except slippery-sloppiness, and the fries were pretty ordinary. I don't think either of us plan to go back. HOWEVER, my partner and I went here because her mom had said it was **the best lunch experience she and her friends had ~ever~ had, anywhere** so perhaps my partner and I just aren't the target audience or maybe we didn't order the right things. Anyway, four stars is still meant to be a positive review. I should mention the service is elegant and quick and all-around excellent; if I could give four stars for food/presentation and five stars for service/waitstaff I'd do that.

Delicious traditional French cooking. We like to go several times a year for date night and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is very warm and relaxing and the staff are always polite and friendly. Have had the opportunity to have cheese from the cheeseboard on several occasions that I have only previously had in France. There is also an extensive wine list, some lovely custom cocktails, and a smaller selection of local beers.

Flavor that's just amazing I enjoyed every course along with the experience of a fine French restaurant. The chicken confit is to die for. My drink of choice the French 75. You can't go wrong in a place with such a variety and great standard in food.

Dislike the contemporary decor, and cramped, uncomfortable seating arrangements. Atmosphere was best suited for a young couple on a date night. Food was decent, but overpriced. The pork rillettes were bland. Oysters could have been fresher, and were overpowered by the mignonette sauce. Beef bourguignon was overpowered by the wine sauce.

I have been there many times. The environment is nice, especially the outside sitting area when weather is allowed. The service is great too. However, dishes I have ordered are just okay and nothing is really special. May only go there for business dining.

Having spent much time in France over the years, I must say that l Abatros onion soup and a glass of Sancerre are the closest to a brasserie in Paris that you can get stateside. The flavours of the rich onions and cheese and crouton are sublime. The arugula salad with shaved Parmesan and lemon vinaigrette and croque monsieur are outstanding and reminiscent of France. Good, authentic food.

I give this 4 stars because I do not like to give any restaurant 5 stars unless I have visited dozens of times. This is truly a fine place to go eat a wide variety of foods. I ate there 3 times over 5 days and thoroughly enjoyed them all. I highly recommend this place.

I changed my review to 5 stars simply because my father and I still speak of the dinners that were shared over that 5 days. If a place is that memorable, then that means we really loved it. We'll be back when we visit Cleveland again.

My favorite Cleveland restaurant. I love everything about this place. The drinks are amazing. Try the Aviation! The food is excellent. Love the cheese appetizer. Good for any occasion.

I am in no way a food critic whatsoever, I don't tell the pilot how to fly the airplane and I'm certainly not going to tell a chef how to prepare a meal for me. Now that we have that out of the way the food was absolutely amazing! My wife had the cod and I had the the salmon along with the French toast which is absolutely amazing....not kidding...this French toast was the stuff dreams are made of! How someone came up with this combination is beyond my understanding...but... once again I don't tell the chef how to cook my food. Now..onto the staff, wonderful group of people. We couldn't have walked five feet and someone was asking us how our meal was and if everything is okay it was nice to see people taking so much pride in their work! Our waiter had a Melvins tattoo ( I'm sorry I don't remember your name) but what a good guy! Just a good night for a 5 year anniversary....nice to be back out and about. Thank you!

If I could give this place less than one star, I absolutely would. Waiting for a table was not a problem at all, but standing around to watch the kitchen crew with no gloves on touching the food on plates was the beginning of an awful experience at L albatros. The service was extremely poor and the waitress spoke with us 2 times. To ask us for our drinks, and then to take our food order. We didn t see her again, not even to ask if the food came out well, which it hasn t. I ordered the roasted chicken and it came out looking delicious but with the first cut into it, blood was seven in the chicken. Bad service. Bad food. I wouldn t recommend to anyone!

I've always been cautious about giving five-star ratings to restaurants... but if one ever deserved such a rating, L'Albatros would have mine right away.

I know essay-length reviews are not often read through, so I will keep this as succinct as possible. As a student at CWRU, L'Albatros provides, without exaggeration, a world-class, affordable, unforgettable dining experience. The food could be raved about for /hours/; no dish from the starter bread to the unholy dessert will leave you feeling anything less than overwhelmed, let alone satisfied. The staff is the warmest, most knowledgeable I have ever known.

I take every major business dinner, reunion and interview to L'Albatros the experience is sure to make a positive impression. I even take myself once a semester to try something new. Reservations are simple to make and seating is deceptively extensive. The sound-levels are ideal for virtually any normal-to-formal conversation, and the atmosphere is constructed for maximum comfort. I cannot even offer a seating recommendation; every room, every table is better than the last. Facilities are clean and elegant and parking is easier than anywhere else Uptown.

My humble but vehement vote for the Cleveland dining experience goes without question to L'Albatros.

I've had bad experiences with duck before, but decided to get the duck confit here.

I was blown away, the duck was amazing and the sweet potatoes were divine.

Our final course was the white chocolate mousse cake. It had 4 levels of deliciousness.
