The employees seem to work under some bad conditions which infects the way they treat costumers. Sad. It's a store that attracts me with it's selections.

Missed my favorite make up artist Bobby Wells, best salesman in the store! He could sell every item in the store. He was one of the best employees of K&L. Where did he go???
This is a Fabulous & unique place to buy men s specialty items ,toiletries , travel gear & one of a kind items not found anywhere else , Asher was a great help , thanks again,
You may as well go and look around and then go home and go online and order what you like, because this store has inventory as archaic as their 7 day return policy. Rude manager and sales people definitely look down on you if you aren t the right demographic .
Definitely a place to window shop!
Super beautiful pieces of jewelry, apparel, and furniture. So much to look at here even just to get inspired. Definitely could spend hours here and find something for everyone
This store is my favorite place to shop. Great service and i love their selection of products.
Fabulous holiday candle selection. Wretched customer service. Employees are either clustered and speaking amongst themselves, or totally hidden from view. If you ask for any assistance, be careful...they bite! I think I m finally going to give up being a patron of this local shop and simply buy my Thames candles online. Oh well, that s life.
They do not have a website that will do this store justice. It is a multi store campus store with an outstanding collection of curated items by the owners Pam and Dan. You will find the most interesting things here. Take your date or spouse here one day and waste 3-4 hours easily! Largest and best selection of niche fragrances in the city! If you have not been here, GO!
A bit pricey and way way too much "posh" beauty products! Super heavy on fragrance diffusers, candles etc. But I suppose that's what makes them unique. Nice place to browse and get different gifts but be prepared to pay a premium.
Simply disappointing. In store service is usually quite good, but trying to get any help outside of the store is painful. I had 2 attempts to get a quote and information for their bedding material and both times I waited over a week, and in the later case i had to keep calling them back about details. All of this for an item over $3000... I essentially went elsewhere and got an amazing experience (Hastens in West Hollywood which i highly recommend).
This store is amazing. It is not just one building either, they offer maps for a reason! They have a great (and seemingly limitless) selection, and the products are always displayed beautifully. It is EXPENSIVE, but they choose quality products to carry, and the atmosphere can't be beat! Even if you're not planning to buy anything, it can be great to just walk around and get some home-decor inspiration.
Staff is horrible. Never say hello or thank you. They don't "help"--they are strictly cashiers. I witnessed one of the rudest encounters in the china department by some tall goon who went out
of his way to be unhelpful to an elderly customer. They have a great selection of merchandise
but obviously no training or management that gives a damn about the customers.
One of the best curated stores on the planet. Impeccable taste.
Beautiful and unique goods that are sure to please! Great selection and the perfect place to go for gifts!
Kind of a dull store. Go in thinking this might be Kuhl excuse the bad pun, but it s not. It s kind of depressing really, I waited out in the rain instead of staying in the store.
Love Kuhl-Linscomb!
Best emporium in the city -- bar none.
Fabulous variety of goods.
Great staff, too.
Massive store, tons of stuff, somewhat high prices but at least they sell quality goods!
This is a beautiful store with gorgeous products to purchase. Unfortunately the sales staff are absent. They huddle and chat to each other behind their counters. The sales staff NEVER offer assistance! It is shameful.
If Houston had a store like Moss in NYC, then this would be it. Anything you buy here will be in good taste. The owners are the doyennes of high style in Houston. From furniture to bedding to dinnerware to antiques this store has it all. They stock several vendors you will find nowhere else. If you want to see where Restoration Hardware got its ideas for its new look, come here. They have the originals Restoration hardware copied. They have selected the best lines of every area in which they have penetration and presented them under 5 closely located roofs. Each building specializes in a different area. They even have baby and children's items beginning with cribs and age appropriate but well designed furniture. We purchased 2 of our sofas and our dining room tables here. If you like Design Within Reach, you will like Kuhl. I could spend hours here often walking out with items I don't need. but could not resist.
This is a store to experience and browse. While you may got there with something in mind, you will be overwhelmed by the inventory. Great place to find gifts.
One of the best places in town to buy gifts. And by far, the worst, most arrogant and unhelpful sales staff. Customer service is the worst in the city.
Lots and lots of interesting things from around the world. Everything looks amazing, everything smells good. If you can afford it, go for it.
You definitely owe it to yourself to explore this place.
Wonderful toys, books, furniture, furnishings, linens, candles, lamps, art, knick knacks and useful items, clothing and so much more.
You'll find things that will make you wonder how you did without them.
Want a great time finding fun in life?
Come here!
Love this place, they are like a department store but with more personal services!
A wonderfully eclectic mix of high end gifts, furniture, and household goods, distributed amongst a street of ex-houses. Brilliant.
Expensive but tons of cool stuff in here. If you need a quick gift and don't know what to get, this place is a good start. They are sure to have something.
Great unique merchandise! Great to explore, helpful and proactive staff
After today, I'll never go back to what USED to be one of my favorites. I've shopped here for years - for stuff for my son, my house, my husband, myself, my dog even! I had plans of having my baby registry here. Today, my son and husband and I went to enjoy their wide array of kids toys. My son is two, he loves their playroom, and my husband had a rare Sunday off. However, the treatment we received from one particular employee was enough to make my husband and I feel so uncomfortable, we left much earlier than we intended to leave, and without buying any of the items that we had intended to buy. I guess she thought we were just coming to play (which we have done many times without any issue), and decided we were causing problems. The looks, the close monitoring, the staring. All of it. If this was my business, I would absolutely not tolerate having employees behave this way. Embarrassing and rude. we will never go back.
This store has everything from furniture to craft to candles to Camping Equipment to anything you can think of, all upscale.
Best place to shop for presents. Items are so unique and fun! A bit on the high priced side but love wondering through all the shops to see what's new.
This store is incredible!!! I could shop for hours. Love the unique gifts. And staff has always been helpful. They will gift wrap for you.
Love to shop here when I m just browsing. I m usually in there at least an hour or so and enjoy looking in all the buildings!
The sales staff is not very nice. I just don't understand it. Prices are sky high. I wont go back.
Excellent service, and awesome selection of unique and interesting items. Plus they will gift wrap for you for free! Parking can be a challenge there sometimes, but I haven t had to wait long for a spot to open. Definitely a Houston icon.
Great gifts for everyone! Best higher end candle selection inside the loop. Steer clear of the employees. It drives me batty that I love this store so much, because the jaw-dropping rudeness of the staff is so hard to swallow when I consider the dollars I drop in Kuhl-Lindscomb. You must simply expect *nothing* with regard to warmth or service from the staff customers are viewed more as an imposition than a welcome guest or even opportunity to make a sale. It s just always been this way. That said, it s a beautiful store and always fun to have a reason to pop in. Enjoy!
Such a great place to buy a gift for literally anyone! I most often come to get presents for friends' kids, but there is something for anyone here. It's a bit pricey but high quality and a diverse selection. Not the most helpful staff in the world but it's a fun place to just browse around too...
How did I live for so long without knowing this store was here?!! It is a SUPERSTORE of wonderful gifts for all ages, home decor, party supplies, fabulous seasonal decor, etc.
This place is always a cool maze with treasures around the corner. I received a gift card in 2015 and only used it once since then until recently. Some of their baking items are over the top expensive (more than Amazon). This gorgeous Alice in Wonderland plate I had my eye on is $90!
There's a gift for everyone here. It'll take some time to navigate around and the store even has a map print of each department section. It'll take a good 2-4 hours for browsing. I'll be back.
This place is great if you are looking for gifts (free wrapping!), fun items or just feel like browsing. Their store covers a huge range of categories with unique and thoughtful offerings. They also offer interior design products and services.
Love coming here on weekends to just browse! Very unique things can always be found
I've been trying to reach a sales associate for 30 minutes by phone. I've contacted every department and NO ONE has picked up their department phone to answer a simple inquiry. I find this OFFENSIVE and will take my business elsewhere. Shame on you, KL!
The sprawling complex of buildings covers the gamut of upscale home items. In the main building jewelry, accessories, non-local gourmet teas and coffees, pet toys, children's toys, art books, fragrances, and bath items. Probably the biggest selection of toiletry items outside the department stores. Separate buildings contain concrete garden decor, handmade quilts, hypoallergenic bedding and sheets, pillows, mattresses, towels, spa items, Italian and French plateware, serving pieces, silver, flatware, glassware, children's games and decorations, furniture, decorative pillows, home decor, lighting, and kitchen installations. I've wanted a chaise pool lounge like their Nordic ones, which have a style appropriate for a cruise ship or hotel pool cabana. Expect to pay prices with the luxury brand that they are aiming to present.
So so so awful the way I was treated trying to purchase a necklace . I can no longer go in to enjoy their store. Be warned, the rude service extends past any decent person's tolerance level for snooty and snobby into the realm of indecent treatment of another human being. Don't bother supporting this business.
By far the worst service I have ever received. I used to own a retail business and trained staff to be kind and have manners. Everyone there acts as if they are doing you a favor. I purchased four gifts there today. Those are the last items I will ever purchase from this store.
Very cool place to shop for gifts and find stuff you never knew you needed but now cannot live without.
Confused me for a thief and treated me like "persona non grata" very shameful, unfounded, and personal attacked. I AM NOT BUYING ANY MORE IN THIS STORE THAT DISCRIMINATES FOREIGN PEOPLE ... JUST BECAUSE I DON'T LOOK LIKE THEM. What they don't know, if that there are better and less pricy stores in town Kuhl-Linscomb is an embarrassment to oustonmers and to ALL foreign people! SHAME ON YOU FOR NOT RECOGNIZING DESCENCY!!!!!!
Kuhl-Linscomb is definitely a one of kind store (s)! I love being able to take my time and walk around this beautiful store and ponder what to buy without having sales people bothering me. However, I think with everyone wearings masks it is hard in almost ANY store to tell who is staff versus customer and that makes it hard to ask for help. But if I need help, I just go to the front desk or find a register and ask for it. I think people writing negative reviews about customer service were probably stressed out about what to buy in the first place and KL with all it's merchandise doesn't make it easy, in a good way!
Best and most diverse gift and accessory shop in the city. Friendly helpful staff will lead you through a myriad of exciting merchandise.
Great place with very nice merchandise. Workers are mostly rude and not helpful.
Beware of towels, I purchased some from here/special order some time ago. Not long after, they were shredding on the edges. And I treated them carefully.....dried on gentle cycle. They we're special all right..extremely expensive and shoddy. Lol
Tonight was not my first time at Kuhl-Linscomb. I've been coming here for years to purchase unique gifts for friends, greeting cards, cosmetics and even some amazing decorative pieces for my home... But unfortunately, this will be my last! An extremely rude older saleswoman in the cosmetics department began to follow my friend and I, as we were browsing, and insinuating very loudly to other sales associates that we needed to be watched. I couldn't quite comprehend what was happening, as I've never been accused of theft before, and certainly didn't expect to be treated this way at a store that I loved as much as Kuhl-Linscomb. That being said, it became so uncomfortable that we walked out and were stopped by a constable who searched our handbags. I understand the constable's position, as he had to do what he was asked, but I am both furious and deeply insulted by the actions of the sales associate here. Shame on you, Kuhl-Linscomb. It's time to put your employees through proper training on how to handle situations such as these, as to not wrongly accuse and offend your customers of being shoplifters. This situation was handled poorly and it didn't have to be this way at all.
I ve been coming here for years. Beautiful store, but the customer service is abysmal. Honestly, go to one of the MANY other stores in Houston that act like they actually want and appreciate your business. I m just tired of leaving frustrated and annoyed.
Best place in Houston for one of a kind eclectic gifts.
Great series of shops. Highly recommend Kuhl-Linscomb for gifts!
Excellent store with lots of variety. Always find gifts here for myself and for others.
Worse place to shop if you're black or Hispanic, just don't go here!! Add to your don't shop your list please!! They don't need our money.
If it hasn't happened to you yet just wait for it, and thank people like me for making it known.
I LOVE THIS STORE!!! The main building is the BEST place in all of Houston to go and shop for gifts no matter what the occasion is. This place is located right smack in the middle of River Oaks, so some items are WAY overpriced and ridiculous expensive (just part of the neighborhood) and that is the reason for me removing a star, but there are definitely things that are affordable and make great gifts!
This is the only place of its kind in Houston. If you want Cire Trudon candles or Tilda Swinton inspired perfume this is the only place you'll find it. While the goods are insanely expensive I wouldn't call them overpriced, and there are enough options that anyone can find something within their price range. The stock is truly eclectic and the store covers several buildings, I still haven't been in all the departments! I love shopping for perfumes, candles, and soaps here. I highly recommend it and don't think you'll be disappointed. Chances are you'll find a new favorite soap or shampoo while here. A word of warning: they have a reputation for not treating their staff well and it reflects in the service. Expect the people who work there to be friendly but not know the stock. However, you'll probably be able to find something great on your own.
Oh what to say about kuhl.. there is something for everyone here whether it s for you or a gift.
It's tragic that there isn't an option to leave zero stars considering I have never felt such blatant condescension, disrespect, and sloppy service in my life. Are you wondering where to spend your hard earned money this holiday season during, ya know, a global pandemic? Well turn right around if you're considering supporting this gold plated bigot-factory. Someone should notify the employee who frantically rushed us out the door after paying hundreds of dollars that my dirty Latinidad isn't contagious. It's unfortunate I had to end my day by being racially profiled, but thoughts of getting my money back first thing in the morning, will lull me to sleep, I'm sure.
Employees are rude to Hispanic customers. Rethink your purchase.
Fun place to see a viariety of Scandinavia and household goods and just an amazing collection of fine
If you need a gift for anyone, this is the place to go! They just expanded their main building to include even more gift sections than before. Some of the items can be pricey, but not all of it is - there's a good range of prices for anyone on your list.
[Note: I have not ventured to the antiques section as I hear everything is beautiful but seriously expensive]
Check out the much more critical reviews on Yelp - I can certainly confirm them.
Stay away from the furniture department. You are buying top end stuff and top end prices, but the service is truly appalling. We regret not ordering the same stuff through several of the online options that are available. Would probably have gotten better service at equal or less price. Overall very surprising that this business feels it can operate in this way - they have lost a significant potential repeat business and bad word of mouth in the expat segment. A shame....
Love this store! Gifts for everyone on our list checked off!
You have to go to experience it. They have everything. Perfect place for gifts as well as buying for yourself and for your home.
Great store for unique gift ideas. You can spend hours browsing the huge selection. They offer free gift wrapping as well. This is my go-to gift spot for the person that has everything.
Good finds here. A little crowded with merchandise.
Such an incredibly great/cool/beautiful/unique store. Have loved it for years.
However, the staff have finally driven me away. Just unhelpful, unmotivated, and unable to offer any level of service that such a store should offer. I will miss trips to KL, but not miss being ignored and made to feel like an inconvenience when asking for help, every single time.
Like the other reviews it is a great place to come for a few hours and spend a lot of money because everything looks great! Place to get unique gifts...
