For anyone who has not been to the Kruger National Park you are doing yourself an injustice. Such and amazing and unique piece of paradise. It will capture your heart. So many amazing rest camps to choose from. My favorite camp is Shingwedzi. The north is a lot less busy then the South. So sightings feel more personal. Put KNP on your bucket list.

I do not understand why this park is so famous ..! It is too big so sometimes you have to drive 30 minutes to see 1 animal, and when you see one it is far.

We have largely preferred the Pilanesberg Park which is already quite large and where we cross a lot of animals near the roadside (elephants, rhino, giraffes, impala, warthogs ...)

The Kruger Park is very expensive (744 Rands for 2 people) compared to the Pilanesberg Park (250 Rands for 2).

Without a doubt the cheapest and do-it-yourself way to see the big five. Admission is approximately R350 for entry with your own car, if you have the chance take a nearby accommodation for a few nights and go for at least 3 full days. Drive around with your car or take the organized tours (the tours can be inside at wider times). You will have the chance to see many species of animals of all kinds. The best ones are the male lions and the leopards (if we had seen them). I recommend spending R85 for the paper guide at the gate entrance.

Kruger Park is deteriorating every time I visit. Shower door faling of in Orpen camp. Ordinary taps at mens cisterns at Lower Sabie. Wrong shower taps at Orpen with holes in walls. Pillow case torn in Skukuza. Tindlovhu not bad food, but very pricey, also out of stock on various items at afsaal, Satara, Olifants and Tshokwane. Mug and bean and Cattle Baron tops as always. Can see management is not capable of handling such a big task as to run the Park and different divisions. Bring back people with management skills.

We are from the north (Punda Maria camp) the first camp set up 100 years ago. Drove south. Not on the asphalt road, but on the other roads. Very nice. The Kruger Park has been in existence for 100 years this year. We have seen many animals.

Amazing

Loads of impalas, water bucks and elephants
Most likely will see Giraffes, zebras, loads of buffalos, and tutrles
Not likely to see rhinos or cheetahs
Lions are mainly found under trees and around watering holes
Best to bring binoculars
Available viewing spots
Camps within Kruger are available
Lots of animal crossings

If in South Africa and you have more than 3 days, a tour to the Kruger is one you will always remember. This is a classic Kruger tour and the experience on an open vehicle safari is an amazing experience. Each camp has its own identity and feel to it and the chalets are 2 to 3 star but are kept quite clean and most are self catering. some units are more upmarket and have views over a river. The restaurants such as Cattle Baron, Tindlovu and Mug & Bean are great but it is also nice to make your own braai (barbecue) in front of your chalet. So, if you want to see some of the big 5 and other animal such as zebra and giraffe, the Kruger is the place to go. This is my happy place and I spend many hours behind an OSV steering searching for my animals.

The best 8hours ever spent in a car....privileged to have seen elephants, bushbucks, hyenas, giraffe, zebras, waterbuck, buffalo, hippos, kudus, monkeys, impalas, hornbills, marabus, warthogs and untouched nature. We were also blown away by the lovely Cattle Baron restaurant's scrumptious food, lovely view and great service from our waiter Bheki. We will be back soon.

So much to see too little time. The sighting of elephant herds was my highlight. I still need to go back there and finish of what I started because this time I didn't have enough time.

Really depends on where you go and who you'll bump into. Because it's open to the general public you have the unfortunate chance of meeting people who are not as into nature as you would expect of national park visitors who litter, hog the road and disobey park rules.

The roads in most cases are fantastic and mostly well maintained and the concept is amazing. Perhaps better to schedule a longer trip to the further northern sectors where there are fewer people.
