Rates are high and hours are horrible for the price. They offer no special memberships for returning college students (instead they must pay an upfront new member fee of $60, even if they have been a member before, on top of a summer membership) or Reserve/National Guard Soldiers. I have been told they have reduced membership for active duty soldiers, yet the nearest active duty base is in Rock Island, which has a a free gym for soldiers on base. It wouldn't make any sense for an active duty soldier to travel all the way to Galesburg YMCA. Hours are horrible, especially in the summer. Weekend hours end at 4 and 5 p.m. Every holiday possible is taken off. A camera system is already in place, why not introduce a key card system when the building is not staffed?

This is the best place ever. The classes are fun and challenging, the instructors are very motivational/professional. The massage chairs are top of the line and the hydro-lounge chairs are great! Ive been at other fitness places including Planet Fitness, do not go to planet fitness, members and employees judge and intimidate more than any gym I've ever been in its definitely not for kids either. There's every thing you want for fitness here!

I am a mother of 3 and it is impossible to workout when your child care is only for a few hours a day and it is in the most inconvenient hours!!! Why do I have to pay for a family if my kids can't even come because I can't just let them play in the play room while I work out!! I remind you the play room is made of glass so I can see them while I workout!! Really need to make this more family convention! Especially for moms who have no time because it's very discouraging!!

Unless you call out there you can not find the open swim hours

I go to the Y 3 times a week to do in water exercises a great place to be and very very clean

Best gym in town. Plenty of cardio equipment. One of best I've seen for heavy lifters and body builders. Lots of classes offered with the membership. Plus an indoor pool.

Great place you get far more here than any other place. Nice huge pool, towel service, saunas, hydro massage and massage chairs the downtown Y is open 24 hrs. The staff are very friendly.

Its annoying because it is supposed to be a non for profit but they charge to get in that is annoying exspecially for kids that dont have alot of money i have been to other ymca in the aroumd illinoes and they are free to get in

Whitney is a rude worker. She doesn t handle situations the way they should be handled. I ve had many altercations with her and it s getting old, someone needs to confront her ymca staff. I would give it a 0 star if i could.
