Hugely overpriced on used guns as well as new ammo and reloading equipment/supplies. Tried to trade a new unfired Sig P220 Elite with a market value of $1000 and was offered $300. A short while later I found a used rifle that was on my bucket list. Knowing there pricing formula, I brought this $1400 rifle (A Ruger .223 varmint w/ scope) to the counter and offered them $1000 for it (pretty sure they owned it for less than $600), they associate laughed and pointed to the exit sign.
Huge store with huge selection of high quality brand name paddling, fishing, camping, and hiking gear (at least). One of those "if they don't have it, you don't need it" type of places; would be easy to kill an hour or two browsing here. Great place to gear up for your wilderness adventures or grab whatever you may have forgotten before heading out. Not a great place to look for discounts, though.
They pretty much have everything under one roof. From clothing to bags to mugs to stickers to guns to canoes and footwear, climbing and camping gear too! There are bargains to be had dotted around the store as well. Great place.
Tried to purchase a nice shotgun in the over $1200 range. But the systems were down (understandably they were busy and it took alittle longer than usual) i have no problem with that. My problem started at the background check stage they told me it would be about 30 mins. I waited and waited over an hour later i noticed no one was actually picking up the guns behind the booth. I finally asked when i could get someone's attention to find out the system was down and they did not know if it was going to be back up today....... why would they not tell all of us so we could go on with our day? I said what do we do now they said oh we will call you when it comes back up whenever it was. So i left not so happy had over a 2 hr one way journey on my way out i hear another person telling their friend that they put a deposit down so the gun would be reserved for them. I walked back over and asked if i had to do that knowing that i would not just be able to jump right over the day or time they called. They tell me yes you have to or they would not be able to hold it for me. How can you not tell a customer that before i almost left? So did the deposit and requested repeatedly to give me a call as soon as it goes back up to see if i was still in kittery and save me a 4+ hr trip again. I called back house later after shopping around before leaving the town and they tell me yes it is back up and ready to go. WHY DID YOU NOT CALL ME? You said you would. Over all not my first purchase there and i love the store but the help i recieved was way below quality there was only one helpful person there and i think it was a manager trying to fix the hold paperwork. They did not even give me the usual how to breakdown and clean and oil explanation which i was expecting.
I bought a pair of UA Boxers from here that were on sale. They came in a box and when I opened it I realized someone had cut the tag off and there was a hole in it. I won't be shopping here again
Went to Kittery and had a good time, they have everything you could want or need, and lots of upscale brands, it was crowded the weekend before Christmas but they had lots of workers. Plan to spend a few hours here if you hit all the departments! Had a great Santa and Mrs Clause, the sweet photographer took our picture ( free) then volunteered to take one with my iPhone!!!!! Thank you! They also printed 2 of the one he took in store!...very nice and it was a good photo! That s the kind of good public relations that keeps people coming back to visit!
Bought my first handgun from KTP. Salesperson Angela was extremely helpful in helping me chose the right product. Very knowledgeable, friendly and confident in her profession. I'd definitely shop there again.
Had everything you could need for an out door adventure. Sales people are great.. I would pass on the lobster roll from the place out side. Left a lot to be desired.
I shop at the store quite a bit and the service is friendly and helpful. I recently ordered something online on sale. I received a phone call two days later stating the item that I ordered was in an open box with missing pieces and they wanted to know if I still wanted to purchase the open box item. I stated no, and I would like to get what was advertised at the price that was represented. They said they couldn t help. Very surprised by this - 1. these were ski goggles - find the item new and send it to the customer no questions asked. 2. If they plan on being successful in the online ordering world they will need to step up to the plate as REI, LLBean, or EMS would.
I went to the store and tried on a small Canada goose jacket. Decided since I lived in New Hampshire I would have them ship it to me so I ordered it online. Jacket came in the wrong size the shipping label said small but the jacket was extra small. Mistakes happened so I decided to give them a call and see if they could pull one from the store and let me exchange it. I ended up talking to a customer service woman in Dover who was atrocious. Irritated I even called. Said she would send me a shipping label to send it back and nothing came. Told me that the jacket was back ordered until the end of October which is bizarre since it s November. I worked for corporate Nike for 20 years I know a lot about customer service and this is some of the worst I ve ever seen. We used to shop there all the time I will never go back
Counter people were great. The assistant manager on duty in the firearms dept. had no personality. I felt as though he thought I was up to something. Very uncomfortable checkout experience. (2:30pm, 9-22-18) for specific reference.
Five stars for the customer service employee who struggled to enter my return credit. My online order shipped to NH. An online return is not a simple matter of bringing up my order. It was a laborious process to enter each of 8 items, as there were no prices or bar codes to scan. Sales tax had to be overridden for each item and the discount I had received also had to be entered manually. They definitely need a bettet system.
I visit the place at least once a year. It's always a hit with both family and friends. You need at least an hour to go through everything. The set up is kinda all over the place. Highly recommend for the outdoorsy type!
HUGE selection of hunting and fishing gear. Also lots of other outdoorsy stuff. We recently bought 2 kayaks there and it was a good experience. The staff was knowledgable and even helped money on sale tax on the kayaks since we don't live in Maine.
It s a great store but honestly the whole line was frustrated . How do you have a huge store with 1 person on the register on one of this biggest shopping days of the year?.. Saturday Labor Day weekend? People even walked out in anger about it.
I like the building on the inside, it is a shopping experience for sure. There is a great selection and is neat for trying outdoor products first. Honestly with the prices here it gives me a way to check out items, then go online to buy it. Every-time we buy something here it is way overpriced and the taxes here are horrendous. Sticker shock central. I will be back to explore.
Great place. They have so much stuff. Its a huge 2 level store and is easy to get lost in. But lots of clothing and outdoor sporting stuff. The store has a very awesome feel to it. Its clean and the employees are very friendly. Definitely worth checking out and walking around in.
Terrible customer service. Horrible wait times. Ordered online. Received email saying my order was ready for pick up. Upon arrival was told items were sold in store without their knowledge. Was treated poorly let alone making up for money and an hour of wasted travel plus another hour of getting the run around. Trouble getting a refund. Money was taken immediately. Refund will take 3-7 days. Will NOT do business again. Would NOT recommend.
If you need anything related to clothing, outdoors, shoes, hunting gear, canoes, rafts, etc. This place gives LLB a run for the money, and if you are driving north, it's much closer too!
A full selection of clothing for women, men and children - plus an abundance of sporting goods, hiking, camping & fishing gear, firearms and archery equipment. KTP has it all and a staff of some of the most accommodating and friendly professionals in the business!
Thomas in camping gear was very helpful and friendly. Eliane in shoes had great customer service as well. Lots of selection. Never leave empty handed. Great experience!
A local favorite but very expensive on every item I've ever shopped for. It's similar to those massive Bass Pro shops you find in the South - there is something for everyone and the selection is enormous. But it's hard to get passed the pricing problems and general lack of staffing whenever you need help. Still, if you ask anyone within a hundred miles if you know of this store, they can probably even tell you the opening hours.
Just want start this off by saying I am sympathetic with those who are stressed out and in fear of COVID-19. However that does not mean there are exemptions for professionalism or humanity for our fellow countryman. Today I was rudely told off by the "greeter" at the front door of this establishment who pushed the mask policy on my wife who has a medical condition which to my knowledge up to this point was okay for her not wear a mask. However in Maine where I do not live, the governor removed mask exemptions for people with specific health conditions where wearing a mask it becomes difficult to breath or remain conscious. Instead of calmly explaining Maine Law to my wife he was very aggressive and stated in Maine there is no such thing as a medical exemption. It completely took us by surprise and my wife exited where she was visibly shaken and upset. I walked her back to our vehicle and walked back in to ask for the store manager. This employee then began to yell and cause a scene in the middle of the store after I had asked for the store manager. I pointed this out to the employee and called him out on his unprofessional conduct before he made a phone call. I spoke with the store manager outside regarding this incident. He appeared responsive, understanding and explained the new Maine COVID-19 guidance to citizens from the governor. I respectfully cut him off citing I learned all about it in a confrontation with his "greeter". I just want to bring this to public attention. This is a trade post close to the border of New Hampshire. I would think it is the responsibility of the employees to explain Maine COVID-19 policy in a professional manner. Hopefully no one else has had this same experience.
This is the worst experience I ve ever had in retail. I can t stress enough to go anywhere else than this store. The lack of knowledge on firearms regulations is appalling and scary. Avoid at all cost. Better off going to Bass Pro.
Over 2 hours to acquire an on-line gun purchase. On 7/17/20 We went to the gun counter, took a ticket and waited an hour and 45 minutes to see someone. David was obviously over-worked and had an already prevalent attitude. I responded in kind.
I asked if a certification was needed to man the gun counter... none. I said I was only asking because we walked through 2 large groups of employees milling around on the way to the gun area. It was like driving through a construction area with one guy holding a sign, and 7 others standing around.
There was nothing in a way of an apology, instead David just said, that's the way it works, (or something like that) with dripping attitude. I wanted acknowledgement, so I said, "you do know why that might make us both agitated, don't you ? No response. I looked at his pleasant trainee, He nodded and said he understood. David disappeared after the form without saying anything, I said thank you to the trainee for remaining pleasant while David and I had such a tense exchange. The background check took about 11 minutes, the forms 10 minutes. Total time just over 2 hours. I'll use Cabela s or Gunbroker.com from now on.
Recently I purchased two hand guns at Kittery Trading Post and had an excellent experience. Michael behind the gun case has great knowledge and experience which he used to guide me through several weapons until I found what was right for me.
I had previously been to that shop looking for similar firearms but didn't quite get the guidance I needed. Michael did a fabulous job with me and I look forward to purchasing other items from KTP in the future.
Lastly, NH residents get the full benefit of a sales tax-free residency as KTP can transfer new weapons to the transfer station on the bypass making the whole process cheaper and hassle free.
Honestly I was shocked. I was shopping for a young girls sweater in the girls department. When I looked for a price I noticed a Walmart price tag hanging from one sleeve @ $6.99, the other sleeve had a Trading Post price tag @ $39.99. The more I looked around, it appeared EVERY item in that dept. had two price tags. I asked the sales clerk what the actual price was, the Walmart price or theirs. Turns out they thought I would pay the $39.99, when I stated I can get it at Walmart for $6.99, she told me to go to Walmart. She did not attempt to explain or make excuses, or pacify me with coupons or discounts, she did not even make an effort to be polite, she was rude. I will never shop at the Kittery Trading Post again. This does not allow you to post with NO STARS or I would !!!!
Best gun shop in northeast. Been a gun guy for 30 yrs, this shop is awesome if you want a cool or very fine firearm. I know my stuff and the right guy there does too. Really good deals, some of the best ever at a gun shop. Probably means they don't pay much for what they buy though.
Love this store! Have been a customer for years. They keep an excellent selection of outdoor gear, fishing tackle, knives, shoes, boots and other items you didn't realize you need!
What I like best is they've remained true to their purpose, and haven't become a fashion supply house like some other famous Maine-based retailer up the road.
Encountered a very rude employee named Peter who I asked for help purchasing a range finder. He snapped at me and said we are busy I can t answer all of your questions. I didn t have any questions, I knew exactly which one I wanted to purchase. Once he reluctantly made his way to the counter where my HUSBAND was he completely changed his tune. The lack of respect he had for a female patron was disgusting. I am so disappointed in you KTP.
Great store with amazing amount of outdoors type of shopping. Plenty to see and lots of areas to wonder. We bought all kinds of things from jackets, shoes, camping supplies to dog toys. Service advisors are all over and never to far away. Price is nothing out of line with other stores of its type. Lots of things for kids to look at as well.
This place put my gas on the wring pump and lied saying I was going to get refunded. Then when i asked to leave a note they demanded my email over the phone and threatened me with security when I said I would come in and leave a note. Funny part is they asked me ti call back and leave a note with the transaction info but wanted my email so they could check my PayPal. They even said thry might need my password? Dirty crooks who when they mess up use threats to hide it. It's going to be on youtube when i confront them. I will record and show how corrupt it is. Also record ans document for my safety.
went there especially for Archery items. They have a great selection of accessories, things that I can usually only find online. All of the accessory items are fairly priced, often times under Amazon pricing (once you factor in the Prime pricing premium). Biggest problem, went there twice the last week with money burning a hole in my pocket to by my "dream" bow (Bear Grizzly). Both times nobody around at all in the entire archery department (the closest person, selling knives was constantly busy, he was wearing a Hoyt archery sweatshirt, but was too busy with the knife customers). There is a generic sign up that mentions "wait time for Archery 30 minutes, so I stood around for about an hour each time playing with the bows but no salesperson showed up. Really do not want to be ordering this bow online and no other retailer in the area that I know that carries the bow, but really need some advice nd would like to test the bow for a few minutes before making decision.
Update. Have been there about two dozen times since las review. Always friendly and competent staff available now.
