Stayed here for a song thanks to Priceline. Location was great, room was well decorated, bed was super comfy. They had quite an assortment of amenities--including a Temptation Lover's Kit. So, you know, it's good for a romantic getaway?

Hotel with a great location in the city. Less than ten minutes walk from the Moscone center. The decor is good, but the bathrooms need maintenance.
The layout of the light switches is incomprehensible

I was so excited to stay here for a trip my husband and I were taking before welcoming our son and boy was I disappointed. It's a pretty pricey place to stay and Kimpton is known for being a great place to work and stay. Well the service was TERRIBLE! All the front desk staff was curt and unfriendly and the doorman barely acknowledged us. The housekeeping staff were very friendly and the room was clean, but NOT worth the price. Room service never "got our order" that was picked up off the door from the night before. Horrible stay and I regret very much staying there.

Although this place is beautiful, the service is terrible. We made reservations which got "lost" and the people were very unfriendly in terms of trying to help us fix the problem. They did not care, nor did they feel remorse or apologize for losing the reservation. The rooms are beautiful but the service ruins the experience.

I ve had the worst experience with this hotel!
I made reservations for a weekend stay, I ended up having to leave a day early. Needless to say, I was not refunded for the night I did not stay. The hotel informed there was nothing they could do about it, since I had booked through Priceline. $200 down the drain!
I was also still charged for valet fees for the second day I did not even stay! The Kimpton claims they have no way to verify that I checked out a day early? Which I don t understand how this is possible considering I personally went down to the front desk, and handed them my room key, when I checked out. How is this information not in their computer systems?
It all sounds sketchy to me.
Maybe the staff decided not to check me out of my room, so one of their friends, or themselves could occupy the room that last day?
Either way this is ridiculous.
Of course the hotel has done nothing to make this better, and hasn t even contacted me back, like they claimed they would.
Also, my credit card was double booked through Priceline. Now I have charges for two separate rooms, one of which I didn t even stay in. The Kimpton hotel is doing nothing on their end to get my card refunded the $400 from the second booking!
The hotel itself is nice, but be careful, make sure you get a statement, receipt, and comfomation numbers from the hotel. None of which were offered to me during check in/ check out.

The staff were very friendly and nice. However this is possibly the worst service i have ever received at a hotel. It was so bad that i am writing my first review ever. Over the course of my 3 days here i phoned at least 12 times to request a tea kettle and 3 bowls. Things i had requested via an email before i left home. Asked the conceirge to send it up as soon as i discovered it wasnt there when i checked in and he said it would he right up. Got the ketttle after my 3rd call on the second day (over 4 hours) and no bowls ever came. I went downstairs to get some at the front desk who told me the department was closed and the could not help?! Also discovered the hair dryer was broken about an hour before we left for the bus tour and even after explaining it would be 10 below zero with wind chill the thing never arrived. We ended up borrowing one from a neighbouring room. It eventually came the NEXT day after ANOTHET call. The hallways smelled and the rooms - particularily the bathrooms - didnt have that "clean feel". I wrote a review explaining my experience privately to the hotel and never recieved a response. Sooo i guess google it is. I love Kimpton and have stayed at their hotels before but this was a terrible experience for such a "nice" hotel. Not even free wine can make up for such a let down. Stay at the howard johnson and buy yourself some champaign lol. Valet also told my brother parking was $6 or $7 per day (which in heinseight is just too much of a good deal) .. it was actually over $60. And thats my rant.

Hotel is beautiful inside and out, located just off Union square so there's plenty of great things all within walking distance. Staff and front desk are all very friendly and accomadating.

Visited for a wedding. The cocktail reception was spot on, the dinner and dancing was lovely. My accommodations were perfect except one annoyance. The closet (which it's an older hotel so lucky to have one) had no light. Useless. Couldn't see anything inside.

This icon needs some upgrades to be on par again. This weekend, only 3 elevators were working.
Because of that I took the stairs, but that scared me the most. All food and cleaning stuff was blocking the fire escape routes.

The room was quite nice, with a big comfy bed. Fridge is stocked with all sorts of goodies (non-complementary, I'm sure) to appease the palette. The downstairs restaurant as a bit overpriced for what you get, so I'd suggest only grabbing food there if you don't want to leave the property. There's a Starbucks attached for quick caffeine in the morning! Pretty walkable part of town, with the trolley rolling right in front of the main door.

Such a beautiful hotel. Nice in room services. Staff was so nice and the bar on the top floor was so pretty. Pretty expensive but they are totally professional and you definitely get what you pay for! Will definitely come back and stay here again.views are amazing from the top bar as well. Gave us complimentary drink vouchers when we checked in during a specific time.

18th floor noise from above at the club. And heating to loud to keep on at night. Room Designed by a man. Would not go there again. Went for evening meal, found out had to book. Wait was 45min. Ended up going to Starbucks

It was fantastic. The cocktails were well designed and with good taste. I came looking for an ambiant place to get excellent drinks and this was the right place. The bartender is patient and friendly. The architecture is wondrous, as of transported to the 19th century. One of the only places that has nice couches. Unfortunately the 21st floor is closed on Mondays :( this place is fun though! I would strongly recommend it and would like to return soon. This place is great for December holidays and Christmas activities.

The hotel is well placed and our room, King room with Market street view, was big but the bathroom a disaster. Tiny... old bath.... shower in the wall... no pressure ... difficult to get hot water. Nowhere to put anything down in the bathroom. No toothbrush glasses, tiny towels.
Breakfast which was included was difficult to obtain.. had to go to reception to get a voucher and the breakfast was not much to write home about.
The personel lovely but I would not come back to this hotel.
The price does not correspond to the standard of the hotel at all.

Location is excellent, easily accessible from public transportation. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms are small, but very nice. Only criticism would be the AC unit that was loud enough to wake the dead. Fortunately the front desk put in a work order and it was fixed. Overall and excellent experience.

Very nice hotel. Rooms are a bit small as was the format from when it was built, but survivable. Has a safe and hair dryer, but no fridge. Location is excellent. Cable cars stop right out front and 20 minutes later your at Fisherman's Wharf. A block from Union Square and 3 blocks from the BART station. Staff is extremely friendly and polite.

Loved the ambience. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The location is fantastic, it's in the heart of union square. The muni bus stops are accessible and also the Bart station is nearby.

OMG! There s no place more beautiful, more intensely pleasurable & comfortable in every single detail and for certain- such lovely, generous, courteous and caring staff! Of course I picked it for the gym & location (smack dab in the middle of the whole city, making walking & Uber-ing ideal) of course also the trolley (which suddenly makes no noise once you step inside). AND like OMG, the rooftop club is so unique , the view straight down onto Union Square & panorama!! Never danced that that before! Even makeup artists offering you a touch up or a full professional makeover!

I was given such generous, unforgettable service- I m as overwhelmed now as I was at ever detail (yoga mats in your room & yoga classes available on the tv! The shower soaps! The interior design a historical building treasure complete with original artwork and furniture the breakfast! I could never possibly thank the staff enough -

Suffice it to say that I m friends & know the names of everyone on the staff whom I encountered! And I m sure they ll remember me too. Til next time!

Boutique hotel so some things may look dated. They have this ongoing elevator issue with only 2 working on lower level and slow..I mean really slow ..you could be waiting for over 5 minutes. We were on 5th floor and would end up taking the stairs down. Muni goes right in front on the hotel. Nice location. American breakfast at the restaurant at lower level was good and the staff provided good service. 21st floor has a bar lounge and brulesque show for $20 entrance fee on weekdays. Stayed here for a night with only issue of elevator.

Always current, despite the passing of the years. The strategic position next to Union square and on the cable car route, in front of the legendary Sears fine food restaurant, make it one of the most valid hotels in San Francisco even if the passing of the years is felt. Some rooms are rather small by American standards, especially the bathroom, but the charm of the place partially compensates for the discomfort if the stay is not too long ... PS: a little small gym.

The lobby, staff, atmosphere and cleanliness are all remarkable. Rooms however are very small and the elevators need immediate fixing. It is not reasonable to wait 5 to 7 minutes for an elevator anywhere, needless to say in a hotel (and not a cheap one mind you!).

Beautiful amenities, classic vintage feel to the place. The window on the 16th floor was open and allowed to take in some beautiful sights. Roomservice, laundry service, fully stocked honor bar (overpriced) comfortable bed with ample number of pillows, giant bathtub in a moderately sized bathroom.

The location is as central as it gets, which also means it can be noisy. The staff are outstanding, Alonso and Gabriella from the Front Desk will treat you like family (thanks!). The rooms aren't the largest, neither are the bathrooms, but the Kimpton Sir Francis Drake is a gorgeous boutique property with real personality in an A+ location with superb staff. Highly recommend for singles and couples.

Very small room, poor water pressure, above the window can see signs of repair without painting so is very visible, charging 30 dollars per day for fridge??? Is not cheap and they want to get even more seems very cheap to do that

The staff was amazing. They were friendly and knowledgeable about activities and transportation and all other questions I had. The rooms had fun decor and were definitely unique. I had an amazing visit and will absolutely be back!
