Very central, clean, a very striking decoration ... Unfortunately the room I was given, despite being on the third floor had no natural light, it looked like a basement. Its excellent location makes up for almost everything.

Nice hotel in downtown San Francisco. Who needs to settle closer to the Ukrainian consulate, I recommend.
There is no parking lot, you have to give the car to a representative and, if necessary, order it. But this is a problem for almost all hotels in the center. Rooms are small but cozy. Be prepared for additional expenses in the form of taxes and paid parking for cars. But again, this applies to all hotels in the city.

Beautifully decorated hotel. Visited hotel for a meeting and was greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. Meeting rooms and bathroom kept impeccably clean. Maybe one day I'll indulge in a staycation and rent a room here.

The decorations are very charming and the hotel staff is super nice. Has an old Elizabethan era vibe that is very boutique like. I stayed on the 15th floor with a double bed that was pretty comfortably sized for SF. Only thing I didn't like was the water pressure from the shower. The tubs are nice and deep if you enjoy a soak though.

Had so been looking forward to staying here. Unfortunately the experience from end to end was so awful we would not recommend and certainly not return.
From long queues at check in, to incredibly small (especially in relation to cost) rooms which did not have the standard amenities of a 4* hotel.
Protests outside of the opposite hotel, while out of the control of the kimptom sir Francis, were so loud within our room (10th floor) it was as if we were standing beside them. When we asked to be moved (after queuing up with a line of other disgruntled guests) we were told there were no rooms or upgrades available and staff offered no solutions or compensation. Overall hotel staff were dismissive and unhelpful.

as a location nothing to say, very convenient for getting around by public transport and also convenient for those who have their cars parked nearby, there is a cheap multi-storey garage behind them. The rooms are a bit old, at least mine, it is very 70s style, we say especially, there is. The services are good after all.

Not the best in the Kimpton family, that's for sure. The "queen size" bed was barely bigger than a full, the water pressure in the shower was a joke and the elevators took FOREVER. Granted, one was being serviced but the other three moved at a snail's pace.

The good: location, atmosphere at hotel, nice bed. The bad: windows that are very old, wind blows straight through them. Measured 10 dB higher noise in my room, compared to the corridor. So very, noise, and not at all comfortable to sleep. And I was told I had one of the quieter rooms.

Just not really any extra perks. Reservations specialist was rude as she said they are to busy to answer phone. Vallet not always available by dial had to search for help. Small food portions but tasty.

Last night was our company holiday party at the stunning Starlight room. Everything was absolutely fantastic from the security, bar tenders, DJ, holiday decorated space, view of union square Christmas tree and ice rink below... everything was simply perfect!

I really like their environmental policy where they give you a $10 daily credit for each day you don't get your room cleaned. I hardly ever wanted my room cleaned before and giving me a $10 drink credit is the perfect motivation for me to ensure I put the do not disturb hanger out. You don't have to use it on drinks too. I used it at breakfast and I'm told you can use it at checkout off your bill.

Would give zero stars if it was an option. Terrible experience at this hotel. Went to check in and they refused to give us the two bed room that we had on our confirmation and refused to take any responsibility. Offered no compensation or apology for this. The other adult that was on the reservation had to go find his own sleeping arrangements elsewhere because of the mistake on this hotel. Says they offer room service during these hours. Told us at 10:30 pm there is no room service on a Saturday. Fire department came twice the first night here and fire alarms were so quiet we could hardly hear them from the room. Forced to stay because they would not refund us but would also not give us the room we were confirmed.

Nice hotel, but room looked so old,old decor, old towels, old tub, ventilation wasn't working, view was horrible, not to many amenities. Room hasn't space for tv in front the bed, tv was at the other side of room.

I was on floor 16, room 1 (supposedly spacious because it was a corner room). I looked at two others on the 20th floor, room 14 seemed to be slightly bigger. Service was great however. There was complimentary wine between 5-6pm. There is a club above the hotel which was a lot of fun, drinks were really expensive--as to be expected. I wouldn't stay there again if I had to pay, but I'd love to accompany someone else. Hahaha.

This hote has beautiful architecture, and a helpful staff. They helped me with little things like getting my hotel room door unlocked (because the card reader went kaput), redirecting homeless and pandhandlers away from the doorway, and things like that. Decent location.

Reminiscent of old time San Francisco... grand staircase, large rooms with King beds, clean bathrooms stocked with great grooming products! Happy hour! Friendly, informative concierge, knowledgeable bellman and valets!

Booked the hotel in a hurry and I have to say I was quite happy with it. The location was great being in a very active area in the city with shopping, food and access to whatever you wanted fairly easy. Some of the attractions were within walking distance as well, not all of them though, that isn't the hotels fault.

Overnight parking fees were high, but from the look of it it seems that the prices were uniform across the city, so this isn't an issue unique to the hotel. The rooms were smallish, but I couldn't careless spent most of the days out and about. The bathroom was also small.

Didn't get breakfast at the hotel since it would be dumb with some many places around it and within walking distance of the hotel. Payed about 220$ per night, but that again seemed the status quo for the city.

There some environmental incentives in the room if you want to partake, noise wasn't an issue for us and we had a street facing room on the third floor. So I don't know what everyone else was talking about.

Terrible front desk..had called them to cancel my reservation that was made through priceline. They said if the priceline executive calls then they would refund and cancel the reservation. The person Jovy at the front desk was rude and refuse to help out

Hotel is old so bathrooms are small and unaccomodating. No bath mats in tub so it was slippery. The beds were comfortable and they do give you a $10 comp card for each day you decline maid service, and they can be used in their restaurant. A beautiful old hotel in a perfect location for trolley and tour bus service but very expensive.

Though the hotel is a classic San Francisco institution, upkeep and maintenance are an issue. While there the entire bank of elevators went down. In our room, there was a sticky stain in the carpet in a main walkway of the room. Service was good, the food at the cafe was great, but little details remained questionable.

A nice, classy and historically quirky place to stay. Staff is very courteous and will take care of you. The bar is a great place to hang out with friends and warm up for your night. Great place for conversation, no TV's or excessive noise.

Free Coffee 6-10 am, but breakfast is not worth it (-1), rooms are quite fine, great located near Union Square and a cable car stop in front of the hotel (7$ to Fisherman's Wharf). Heading from SFO you take the yellow line of BART (app. 10$, 30 min) to Powell Station, 10 min walk or cable up the hill.

This was a great hotel. The bar was nice, the service was good, even the man dressed up and whatever that outfit is was very friendly. My hotel room was clean and up-to-date, although the closet was unusually large where as the bathroom was unusually small. Over, pretty great for an old hotel.

Nice rooms with a good blend of appealing retro charm and modern amenities. The staff were all pleasant and helpful, the location is great and surrounded by plenty of attractive options.

The elevators are completely ridiculous. Out of the 4 elevators, only one of them works, and for a 21 floor hotel... that s a problem. Often times you will have to wait 20 minutes for a ride and you might as well end up taking the stairs at that point. Rooms aren t the nicest and the hallways are old and sad. Definitely do not recommend coming here.

We have stayed here a couple of times. It s perfect location, funky decor coupled with historic touches really make this a fun place to stay.

They are redoing the rooms a little at a time. Bathrooms are small but adequate. Every room has a fridge, comfy beds AND pillows. Always enjoy staying at the Drake.

We had lived there for six days. Super small room with many black and yellow stain on the towel. Staffs are rude to asian customers at Scala restaurant .The best thing of this hotel is the location(0.5km from powell station)

I don't know how this is a 4 star hotel. Rooms are pretty small with even smaller bathrooms - no locks in bathroom and no place to even stand and move. I understand the price can be high because of the place, but calling this hotel a 4 star is disgrace.

Hotel located in the center of San Francisco. Very comfortable for sightseeing and with a decoration that, if you like it, becomes funny. The only thing is that everything is paid: Wi-Fi, water ... In other hotels they include a bottle and, of course, the internet key without paying.

Super nice hotel near tourist spots, Union Square, Trolley to Fisherman's Wharf, etc. Rooms are small b/c it's SF, so don't be surprised. Stayed here as speaker at Grey Ghost Paranormal Conference 2013 in Alameda (used Alameda Ferry for $6). As a paranormal investigator, I almost expected activity in this place. Lot's of history.

The Kimpton Sir Francis Drake is the perfect location in union square! It is close to all of the high end shopping and other fun things to do in union square. There is a trolly stop right outside where you can hop on and ride the rails to other fun destinations like lombard street, fishermans wharf, china town etc. The hotel itself has a very historic upscale feel, the rooms are on the smaller side but very nice.

Good location right on Union Square on the cable car line distinguishes the hotel. The staff is friendly. The rooms are clean and a bit antique. Shortcoming is the currently closed restaurant and the single glazing.
