My friends and I booked a family room here. I have high expectations for this hotel since this is Rotana with a 5-star rating. I've been to several Rotana hotels around UAE and I'm the one who suggested this hotel to my friends, but to my dismay the linens were not new and there's a small cockroach in the bathroom. I made a complaint to the guest relations regarding the linens and they just told us that it was new. We didn't argue. I know it wasn't as we saw some stains and the smell isn't fresh. We just shrug it off so as not to ruin our bonding. It was still great but I hope next week that I'll be here, it will be better.

10/14/20 Update: I booked a family room again this 10/17/20. Looking forward to another enjoyable stay. :)

I stayed at the hotel with some friends. The stay was great, room service was very friendly and helpful, and the facilities were clean and very enjoyable. Also, the rooms are VERY big and the location of the hotel is very convenient.

Great place, excellent food, nice service, decent rooms, wonderful gym. BUT: The little creek in front of the Hotel beach is used for jet ski posing. And they are using REALLY LOUD vehicles just to go up and down the little creek next to the Hotel - a bit like on a formula 1 race track. Therefore only 4 stars rather than 5.

Greetings from Canada!

Greetings from Canada!
Really really happy with this Hotel. I will stay here again n again.

From the moment we checked in (late night after 10p.m.) - There were about 5 valet guys who helped us with our luggage in a very professional manner!
When we arrived at the front desk; we were greeted by a very sweet employee, I think her name was Glen. Glen explained us everything about the Hotel in detail and upgraded our Classic King Room to a Premium King Room! We were super happy because we stayed here for 4 nights and were worried about our laundry and drying our clothes... this was very helpful! The room had a 48 inch Samsung LED TV, Microwave, Washing machine, Coffee/Tea maker, Dining table with 4 chairs, Mini Fridge, Bottled water, Lots of cabinets for storage! and the best part !!! 2 washrooms!!! I felt like I was at home. I never stayed in a hotel room for so long until I stayed here. I was able to do my online work and kinda second guessed my plans to go to Dubai because I was so comfortable to stay at Khalidya Palace.

The swimming pool and gym was phenomenal! They give you fresh long/heavy duty towels for the beach and swimming pool which you have to check in and bring back once you are done. The pool temperature was good... We visited in late February and found Abu Dhabi to be a bit more cooler than last year... I guess the temperature is going lower here than normal! I remember Abu Dhabi being very hot in February 2018... not sure what happened so a traveler tip: Bring a hoodie .. it may come handy! lol

WiFi - 7/10 - No wifi in elevators or outside the hotel. Sometimes the connection drops in the room... but very rare. It is fast for download but slow on upload. - but who cares. you are on vacation! enjoy lol

Location!!! - I can say that this hotel is located in the BEST area of AUH. It's right next to Etihad towers (Walking distance!!!) and Emirates Palace. Marina mall is only 1km away which is amazing.

Breakfast - just wow!!! 5 star experience. Very tasty food. It runs from 6:30 to 10:30. Lots of options to chose from. Really really amazing chefs and staff.

Room service - amazing! always on time, though the hotel is busy but the staff always manages to give you the best service compare to other hotels in Abu Dhabi.
Very friendly staff.

The only issue I had in my room were the electric outlet. In North America we can plug in anything anywhere... in this room I had to use all sorts of different adapters and converters as the plugs were all different. But thats okay! The price of this hotel was super cheap compare to other 5 star places in the area!

Highly recommended!!! and again thank you Glen, and Abid for room service!

I was in this hotel in 2019, think Ive already commented on TripAdvisor.. the best hotel Ive been to so far. They will treat you like a king, everything pristine & clean, the bed was so comfortable it was almost impossible to get out of it. The staff was really nice, there wasnt anything bad I can think of. If you are travelling via travel agency on a budget (we had bed & breakfast for like 7 days), I recommend groceries closeby in the Etihad Towers - they serve food there just like in Carefour or Globus - and really cheap (for example chicken with rice for about 6 Euros max), however products have usually a bigger price due to import. For snorkelers: dont expect wonders in the water by the hotel - its mostly blurry due to sand and not much to see.

Ambience, Room view & facilities are excellent however some of the staffs still require training to be more sophisticated, & if one staff is on leave, rest of the staffs are unable to deal with guest concerns effectively.

A great hotel with superb amenities that allow the hotel to be considered one of the best hotels i visited but my first night was the most horrible night I ever had during my whole hotels accommodations, I woke up on a terrifying sound at 4:00 cracking sound, a big constructions site is running for the next 1 year it seems under hotel East wing, Starting at 4;00 am by using heavy machines, the sound will not allow you even to think to sleep, I was forced to ask for checkout since the reception never informed us on checking in, but the hotel management treated us well by shifting us to the west wing with kind apology because this is municipality site and out of hotel hand, later on we discovered that it is a very suitable hotel because the morning sunrise is fabulous & hotel amenities are really great

No or lack of control over mask wearing and other precautionary measures against the new coronavirus.

Online check-in doesn't work properly, you have to stay in a queue anyway.

Not warm welcome, when I stopped my car in front no one reached to help me with my baggage, instead they helped the car stopped behind me with locals inside.

You have to park your car outside few hundred meters away from the hotel yourself. Waiting time to enter the room is long.

Good things are the location, view, beach and swimming pool.

We booked 2 regular rooms but they gave us the 2 bedroom suite.
We arrived an hour (2pm) before the check-in time (3pm) we were told that the room would be ready at 3. But unfortunately we waited for another hour, the good thing of being patient is they gave us free coffee from the hotel s cafe. Saba from the reception was so accommodating and nice.
Complimentary breakfast wasn t that good (some pancakes were hard, the egg station chef was only one in which you ll need to wait for a long time, the glasses were not that clean and shiny, the coffee wasn t hot when served).
The seashore is not long enough from the water. But the swimming pool s nice and huge.
The wind breeze was so nice, it felt so relaxing when it touched my skin.

Nice bedroom, swimming pool and beach. Gave 4* because of the lack of cleaning on the toilet near the swimming pool and noise in the hallway near the elevators early morning, children screaming. They should have music in the pool area, it's quite boring such nice place without music.

We had a nice stay in this hotel. The pool is great and they have a small beach. The room was great (family room) with great views and a very comfortable balcony. The staff was very friendly and we had a great New Year party with a wonderful BBQ (and a very weird large screen with soccer on it...). There is a shop in the adjacent hotel that has everything you need to make your own breakfast if it is not included (prices are crazy see below) and you do not want to stand in line at rush hour times. There were several things that were not so great...this hotel has been discovered by package travel...so it is very busy in the holiday season and is suffering from the cheap resort habits, long lines for buffets (we did not eat in the hotel once), lots of people reserving beds at the pool before breakfast but only arrive two hours later (they have a policy against this but do not enforce it). Unless you have young kids and do not mind getting to the pool before 10 AM you will in many cases not have a spot. Prices for breakfast are completely crazy, 35 EUR (or more) pp if you do not pre-book. The price of the room was also crazy but that was mainly because we booked really late...so that is our own mistake. All in all we will likely look for a place that does not suffer from mass tourism yet...

during Covid19 time some people still not following the simple rules (wearing mask) which makes you worry about your stay. I would like if it will be controlled by the hotel admins.
Some people in swimming pool entrance were not keeping social distancing.
Prior coming to the hotel it is said to do online check-in so that it will make us to avoid waiting and it was said just handle Emirates ID and credit card. But in reality it was not. We were waiting for the room to be ready and we were provided with coffee for the waiting time. So we came at 3.20 to the hotel and we entered the room at 4.00 Nothing was touchless. Only the menu of cafe and restaurants with QR code.
The view from our room's balcony was the best!

The first thing that struck us at the reception wa...

The first thing that struck us at the reception was the intense smell of fried food rather than a pleasant mix of Arabian aromas. Our room was large with a view to the sea, but naturally we had paid extra for these commodities. First dinner experiences were utterly disappointing. The selection of food was very limited and the food itself lacked any taste. Meats were overcooked, the choice of fish and seafood was missing and the rest was tasteless. Tables were not properly cleaned and feeling sticky and cutlery was either lacking entirely or cutlery sets incomplete.

We comfortably slept through our first night but were rudely awakened by a scratching noise of cleaning/working staff at 0900 attempting to clean or fix something. Being our first night, we had not yet recovered from jet lag thus 0900 was 0500 for us.

Grabbing breakfast was literally that.. a grab. Tables were scarce with the vast amount of people simultaneously dining, staff were unable to keep up with replenishments and ushering to the extent that it felt like a fight for the few remaining pieces of ham or for the last few drops of juice.

Only 4 relatively small elevators are available to serve the guests reach their rooms spread over 21 floors. This in itself resulted in long waits for elevator space to reach our room. In the end we decided to use the hidden staff staircase to get to our room which was located on the 3rd floor.

A quick escape to the beach also resulted in a disappointing experience. Umbrellas were few with all deckchairs under the shade taken. The sun quickly became too hot as midday approached and any attempts to find deckchairs by the poolside shade were unsuccessful. None were available. Other families were also walking round and round trying in vain to secure an unused deckchair for themselves.

While the staff were friendly and did try to help, they either lacked the proper 5 star training or were new in their positions.

Overall our experience here was far less than the standard one would expect. Definitely not a 5 star experience. It's a pity as we paid quite a bit extra for that extra star rating. Honestly, we felt better during a previous stay in a 4 star hotel. We won't be coming here again and would not recommend this hotel to others.

I have been there in February of this year and this hotel was a deception. Basically, the checking was very long and despite we choose a no smoking room on Booking, we were assigned a smoking one just after the guy basically said he couldn t find any room for us. Weird thing as such as overbooking. The guy was very rude!

The hotel was more like a family 3 stars than a 5 stars. There was not toothbrush and basically stuff for only one person while we were two, we had to ask for additional things.

We enjoyed the experience though the Internet connection is very slow. Very accommodating staff and honest. I forgot my eyeglasses near the pool area but they kept it and gave back to me. Thank you very much.

Wonderful pool and private beach. They have water sports activities as well, paid separately.

After the pool you can go to the Sauna and Jacuzzi. Extremely relaxing. Quiet and decent place.

Beautiful interiors and view.

The rooms were fine, but when it says it sleeps 4 and you have to pay $50 US per roll away it should be labeled as sleeps 2. The food costs were exorbitant.
The location was nice, though. Overlooking the presidential palace and the royal palace.

During COVID bookings, timing to get a room takes 1-2 hours once checked in. Parking is far away from hotel. Staff at front door shouts at you if you forget your mask. The rooms are very basic. Spend your money in another hotel.
