A Pixburgh Icon, the gardens are top notch and the rides are clasic. However "The Potato Patch" area really needs cleaned (degreased) and the overall cleanliness of the Park should be improved. Shine it up Kenny!!! We did have a great time!
Overall a wonderful Park tons of rides also a lot of Carnival type games if that be your niche. They also have several food varieties to choose from all delicious. They also do have an arcade fun. Also during the fall months they tend to do Halloween theme. they do offer VIP which is good for skipping the long lines. Some place that everyone should be able to visit at least once a year or two
Rode my first roller coaster here, the phantom! Haven't been in years but worth rating :)
The prices of snacks/drinks are insanely high and the rides only work when they want to
I visited Kennywood on 9/5/2020 and was very disappointed when I saw so many people not wearing their masks properly or not at all. There was also not much social distancing going on. No employees said anything to these people to correct the situation. My nephew lives in Virginia and visited Busch Gardens, they have people monitoring the guests for compliance. They also threw guests out of the park for noncompliance. I feel something more should have be done, like that, to enforce the rules.
I know that the covid thing messed everything up this year but... I brought my new family 8 hours to show them one of my childhood favorite places. Was disappointed with the number of rides that were closed and the waiting time for rides that were open. Especially with the park closing so early. Spent a lot of money for 8 of us have to think really hard about doing it again!!!
This park used to be great. My family and I will never return. For a family park, it was disgusting to see women dressed in awful clothing including showing nipples. Our food was stolen from the pavilion. This park needs a good clean up!
Lots of fun. Great for kids. Food is awesome but kinda expensive.
Historic trolley park from the beginning of the amusement park era, has some of the oldest wooden coasters in America and a old fashion feel.
It was season pass holder weekend, which allowed us to get in for the day ahead of the main opening day. The park was bigger than I thought it would be, and it had a good number of rides. Not all rides were open, and only a few of the food and drink locations were open. There is a roller coaster that is not finished yet, but looks amazing! I can't wait to go back and see the place when everything is up and running.
I love Kennywood so much. It's been a part of my life since I was little. I make so many memories each time I go there and overall it's amazing!
This is bs showed up to Kennywood today because they advertised the the new rollercoaster would be open and then we get to the park to find out that it wont be opening till later.... Kennywood you need to get it together been to the park multiple times and I've been very disappointed this year
Grandsons had their wrestling matches today here and now the rides.
This October was my first time at Kennywood and it was a blast! I would definitely love to go back. There were a lot of great rides but my favorite was the Steel Curtain roller coaster!
Always a great time! Depending on when you go, the lines might not be very long at all, and even the smaller rides are well worth it. Also, for an amusement park, Kennywood is always fairly clean park-wide.
Not crowded, even on a Friday. Only negative was that three major rides for my kids were closed. Those rides were closed last year when we went as well. They should, probably, have had their new-ride construction finished too.
Lots of cute girls go here and talk to guys, good place to meet women.
Fright night was as expected I definitely reccomend getting a haunt pass. There were 7 attractions and if I had to wait in line for them I probably would have gave a 2 star. 3 of the 7 were very good 1 or 2 were ok and 1 or 2 sucked. The lines were pretty much expected it took roughly 30-40 mins to ride the phantom and half of the rides were shut down due to weather which was pretty lame in my opinion. It wasnt storming at all when we got there at 8pm it never rained or lightening but the other coasters didn't open.
Been going here since I was little I love the rides and all the games. It's a little expensive but yiu get what you pay for . The water rides are awesome.
my one and only roller coaster ride
My dad had to sit on me so I wouldn't jump off. That was 60 years ago.
Too many rides were closed and the lines were incredibly long.
Kennywood is a wonderful traditional amusement park. Lots of fun for adults and children.
Potato Patch fries still DELICIOUS! Lines not too long!
Having an ok time most of the rides aren't made for bigger people
Great place to visit. It's a Pittsburgh tradition.. Been coming here since i was little.. Its average price for a amusment park. Has newer and older rides. It's a great place to make lasting memories with the kids. Well worth your time..
Very nice local park, some good coasters and potato patch fries
I've been going there for years during the summer, fall, and winter seasons and have loved it. It's simplistic, yet nostalgic for what it offers. From wooden to steel coasters, great food, and just memories in general, you can't go wrong. The last year, I've read they've been having problems with rides being open, so I've only been able to go for their holiday lights days, and absolutely love it every year.
Super disappointed we are season pass holders and lately every time we come to the park a large majority of the rides are closed and a lot of other amenities also for the price of a season pass Kennywood could do a better job in serving their customers if you are planning on visiting don t count on getting your monies worth!!!
Park was crowded after they posted limited crowd most food places were closed which made the few that were open over an hr wait...why be open and be so unorganized..i get it but such a waste of a day
I love Kennywood! I bought season passes and havent used them enough!
A Pittsburgh mainstay. Kennywood has plenty of fun to offer kids of all ages. Kennywood Lights is one of my family's holiday traditions. Always updating and expending, Kennywood keeps it fresh, even for seasoned vets.
I haven't been since I was a kid and wanted to go back. It's been 40 years. Make sure to go on the racers, the thunderbolt, three exterminator, and Noah's ark
Great old fashioned amusement in this America! Great different rides for any ages.
One of my fondest childhood memories was going to Kennywood as a kid! The fried Oreos and corn dogs were always my favorite. The Exterminator always stuck out to me and I believe it is a timeless ride for all ages. If you enjoy roller coasters the Phantom is the best!
I would love to give it 5 starts, but this year (2018) has not been as good as in the past. I am a season ticket holder and have been there several times this season. Some of the employees are super nice, but the rest act like they don't want to be there and it's a bother to do their job. Several have been flat out rude. The park has always been very clean! The rides are great, plenty to do for all ages. They could do a little better on the meal plans. You can get a large plate of chicken Alfredo with two bread sticks, great value, but then the pizza you only get one slice, not even enough to fill up my 6 year old. You can get chicken fingers just about anywhere, but not at the burger place even though they sell them there. So if the grownups want a burger and the kids want chicken fingers, you'll have to go to two places and get one to go. Also there are not very many healthy options for kids on the meal plan. Overall it's a great park and a fun place to go. If they can get the employees onboard then it would make the experience much better.
Well I was forced to remove my belt and my man parts fell out I have social anxiety disorder it hard to leave my home and then they made me feel horrible FYI not one other person had to take off their belt they broke Ada laws imo .t.the staff they didn't want to do their jobs I ordered cotton candy the girl got an attitude then gave up on us and passed the order halfway through to another person all I did was smile and place order I also tip at KW another staff almost got knocked out six time this boy kept walking into me I'm sorry but this park went downhill games suck it's all a cash grab and the African Americans have problems with white ppl
It's old but that is what I love about it. It's the best and always will be!!!
It is a great place to take your family for rides a show or two and of course you have to just have to get some potato patch fries it's not the same like the parkside cafe fries they are so much butter the only reason why I didn't give them More
So much fun
Affordable prices
Fast rides, fast food, great roller coasters, great family atmosphere
Thanks Kennywood for a beautiful evening. Holiday lights were awesome. Looking forward to next year and fright night.
We used to go here all the time. Havnt been here since they put in the black widow until yesterday. We went for a date night and it was awful. The lines for the steel curtain were ridiculous. People where buying the fast pass and they would load up a car leaving the others to wait in line for 2 hours. Mind you he was in line since we got there at 10:34. The ranging rapids used to be my favorite. I wanted a ride i would get wet on and here they took all the water falls out. It was lame thomas town was really cute there was only one car running on the phantom and the exterminator broke down. It was awful id rather go to ceder point. Waste of money. Wish i never bought tickets
Rode rollercoasters and other rides so much that my kids outlasted me! My 7 and 9 year old loved every bit of Kennywood. Watching them test out the new rollercoaster, the Steel Curtain (which is right in the middle of the park), was pretty exciting too! The Potatoes Patch is a must. But a new favorite of ours was a Belgium waffle shop called Wafels and Dinges! Best icecream cone in the park (a real Belgium waffle cone with 2 scoops of chocolate!! Especially reasonable price.
Over Priced. June 30th 2019. Family went. Sky Rocket was closed for the day. Black Widow was closed for the day. The Aero 360, Thunder Bolt, and Phantoms revenge all broke down while we were waiting in line. Also there new ride for "2019" Steel Curtain is still not over. Don't waste your money or time here. Just make the trip to Cedar Point. You will thank me later.
Great time we had a family picnic with rides what can be done better now I didn't buy anything in the park but the prices are what u would expect in a amuesment park there are designated places to smoke so that's not a problem lines wasn't bad overall it's a great place for a day with the family
Definitely the best park in Pittsburgh. Can't wait to see the new ride but overall definitely give Kennywood park A3
I've loved Kennywood for years and finally got to take my kids to ride their first roller coaster, and it was The Racer. How much more epic can you get? Needless to say, they are little coaster junkies now!
Went 7-1-2019 was very disappointed. SO
many rides weren't operating. I've gone for years. The price has gone up also. I bought tickets at my local giant eagle. They don't accept military discount either. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!
Very expensive to eat go out it s nice but they should make more of it
It is very fun place to go to. There are many different rides to go on. There is a great kiddie area for younger kids. There is many different types of rides ranging from ferris wheels to rollercoasters to go carts and more. There is food almost everywhere. And there is a gift shop. The only reason why I am rating this a four star is because
Just like any amusement park, there is a long wait.
It was a fun day! We had a great time. A little disappointed Steel Curtain wasn't running. Very excited to try the gluten free chicken fingers and potato patch fries at Small Fry located in Old Pittsburg! The twist Dole Whip was delicious and refreshing.
Always a fun place to take the kids. Wish they would bring back the classic rides. Would be nice to expand the park.
Really disappointed food was not the same and most of the good rides closed
It's a really fun amusement park to go out when you're in Pittsburgh. Definitely go on phantoms revenge. It's the best roller coaster ever!
A local amusement park and tradition
This is kind of a silly review, since if you've lived in the Pittsburgh area for longer than 20 minutes, you've likely heard about Kennywood. But, in case you're new to the area....
Kennywood is a smallish amusement park. It features a selection of leisure rides (like Garfield's Nightmare), thrill rides (like Aero 360 and Black Widow), water rides. and coasters. It does have two "newer style" coasters: Phantom's Revenge and the Sky Rocket, but has 3 classic wooden coasters. Of them, the Thunderbolt, is still one of the most highly regarded wooded coasters in the US.
In addition, it has a pretty good section for little kids, and the new Thomas the Train area looks like it will be cool as well.
The food is generally the same level as other amusement parks, with Potato Patch fries standing out.
I would recommend coughing up the extra 7 bucks to park closer to the front; hauling yourself and kids up the hill after a full day of walking the park is not fun.
I would also avoid Johnny Rockets (or whatever it's called) as it is easily the most expensive food in the park. Since you can re-enter with a hand-stamp, you may want to head out of the park and across the street to McDonald's, or do what many people do and haul in your own food.
Better experience than last year. Will explore more with my grandson.
Absolutely love Kennywood!! From childhood until now, it never lets down! Plenty of rides and other attractions!! Definitely recommend!
I would normally never have given Kennywood a low rating but this time they deserved it! I want others to be aware of how the park is conducted to stay open or not. The General Information on there website about "rain" and "best time to come" should be taken with a grain of salt. Its stated that after 2 hours of continuation of rain that the park may choose to close down, it also suggestions on days when there is a threat of rain, may be the best time to go cause the park is least crowded.
Let me tell you... THIS IS NOT TRUE... The management of the park controls the park completely and doesn't care about your family! Its a business and I understand that but because the ticket numbers swiped getting in isn't high enough in the early afternoon and to close the park because of that, isn't a good reason to CLOSE!
Imagine hearing the weather for the day was early morning rain then a potential of a passing shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon or early evening. Sounds like a good time to go on a week day, right? Checking Kennywood's website and calling when they opened and saying they'd be opened and no reason they would be closing sounds like the perfect day... Now everyone in your family takes time off from work to go, and someone who's handicapped is with you and is really excited about going. Upon arriving at the park you now discover you have 45 minutes till it closes, now you have to explain to that person that they can only be here for a short while when that's all he was looking forward to for weeks! Kennywood states now on there website its due to "Inclement weather closing at 3pm" the staff running there rides, although say different. They say the tickets swiped coming into the park isn't high enough. Kennywood is all about the $. This is the only day our family could come this year with everyones work schedule. Terrible Kennywood!!
Maybe this is a result of new management...
Money first, family second!
I wrote this review cause I'd hate for another family to have to go through this again. I want others to know what could happen to them and to be prepared and maybe reconsider trying to go on a slow day cause management may dictate your family vacation outcome!
Date of visit was 6-23-16
My family visited Kennywood Park on 8/9/14. I entered the park interested in purchasing season passes and exited being grateful that the 2014/2015 ones were not yet available. The general attitudes of the employees were DEPLORABLE! The entire day only ONE person said "thank you for riding...". Seemed to me that they were more interested in each other or their cell phones than in engaging the public. They were VERY mechanical and disinterested in what they were doing. For the money you spend I expect a MUCH better overall experience. Very low class atmosphere for a very high price. Growing up I went to Kennywood often and I was extremely disappointed in how much it has gone downhill since my last visit many years ago.
