The best corned beef EVER. When i saw the sign for the ruben and the price was 23 bucks i was like heck no. Then i ordered it and it had a lb of corned beef worth 20 bucks by it self. And the fresh pickles were amazing, i dont even like pickles and ate them all. They give you like 6 spears

5 star food with 0 star service. Do yourself a favor and skip the table service option. While the host was fantastic with updating everyone waiting and keeping things moving the actual server we got gave our group the worst level of service we have ever had. We waited longer at the table for her to greet us than we waited initially to be seated. I can understand busy but the attitude she brought was totally unnecessary because it wasn't our fault she couldn't keep up with her tables. Food was fantastic though though a bit pricey but I'd recommend it. Just skip the table service is my tip.

Six years ago visited this place for the first time. Whole six years i was dreaming to come back. Today finally did and it's the same epic place as before. Absolutely must visit when in NY.

this is a New York City Classic, they have been there forever. it is about $20.00 for a Pastrami on Rye. same goes the Corned Beef. At times they can be a Tourist trap, but if you know when to go you will have a great experience. Thick cut Pastrami and on classic rye bread, that cant be beat. also they are open late on weekends so after a night out, you can come in and enjoy a good sandwich before heading to bed.

Fabulous sandwiches and atmosphere! My husband and I agreed that we should have split a sandwich for lunch. The atmosphere is cheerful. A table is marked as being from When Harry Met Sally, and the counter is still set up as it was in American Tongues. Very expensive sandwiches, but you are paying for more than the food..

Come on... Where else do you go for the best Jewish deli staples? This place is the appropriate destination of a corned beef pilgrimage. Sure, it's nearly $25 for a sandwich, but that sandwich should be at least two meals worth of food. Just don't lose your tickets.

Delibertaly went at an off-time (4pm) and still there was a queue, albeit short. Then another queue inside at the cutter's section. The process is a little confusing but you soon grab hold of what is going on by chatting to fellow patrons who are waiting with you! Expensive yes, but the food is tremendous and lots of choices. Cutter gave us a sample whislt we waited. Obviously they are doing something right to be so busy all the time!

A True New York City Legend! Always packed this deli is the real deal. The knish are huge, flaky, and wonderfully tender and flavorful. But the star is the meats. The salami is incredible. (Side note.. They will ship one of their salami to any serviceman/woman around the world. Since WW2 their slogan has been send a salami to your boy in the army) my favorite is the Half Pastrami Half Corned Beef Rueben. Whenever I am in NYC this is a MUST stop

You know sometimes you can eat at a fanout place and it can be a little bit of a let down. Well not here absolutely amazing! The pastrami on rye is fantastic. Portions are huge so consider splitting a meal.

The restaurant was not overly packed as I have seen and experienced in the past. There is so much hype about the place and in reality it is a disappointment. The pastrami is very tasty but once it gets put onto the bread the mustard just overpowers everything. It is not something I would return for.

Came here midweek afternoon, a very special experience, family of six, place is very Harry met sally like(lot of references), food is an experience on its own, you get a card when you get in and use it to get your food, when you exit you use it to pay, overall great people, good food, worth the walk from Broadway

They use the ticket system to try and extort money out of people. Walked in with a group of friends late at night. One of us decided to order a sandwich and went to the counter. Meanwhile the rest of us decided to wait outside. The bouncers surrounded us and demanded we give them our tickets. We had no idea what they were talking about. They said that it would cost us $50. At this point they were blocking us from leaving and threatened to call the cops. I told them no worries I'll call the police and pulled out my phone. At this point our friend who ordered the sandwich joined us empty handed. After ordering he was asked for his ticket. Of course he never had received one and was told he couldn't purchase anything without one. After starting to dial the three giant bouncers finally stepped aside and let us leave. None of us will ever go back.

I don't understand the hype. On one of my many trips into the city, my dad dropped me off here while I waited for him and it was disappointing to say the least. I had to tell him it was good since he was so excited about it, but it was such an overstatement. Ridiculously over priced, you have no idea how much anything really costs until you pay, virtually no service, drinks are mediocre. It was such a waste of my money.

The food was good, but a little overpriced. Probably becuase this is 1/2 restaurant and half tourist attraction.

Anyway, it's a nice touristic spot. for those who know this place from the movies, its nice to stop by once every few years.

The pastrame sandwich was awesome, but took us 1 hour in line to get it from the balcony.

Also it's so strange that they almost don't have any womem working there (as cutters or positions that looks important for the customers for example) I only saw two waiters, but I wouldn't doubt
that they have plenty for cleaning, as always.

I wouldn t say the pastrami sandwich itself is worth $23 but enjoying a meal at an iconic, crowded New York deli (where Harry and Sally shared a moment) is certainly worth the price. Large space but confusing process.

Process: line up, be given a ticket stub, squeeze into the shortest cutter line, order, hand over ticket for cost, pay by card at the back of the restaurant or by cash at the front, sit and enjoy food, hand in ticket upon exit.

Not as cheap as I imagined, however the portions are huge so one could just share a pastrami sandwich. The pastrami is delicious!! Amazing stuff
You even get a taster whilst you wait for your sarnie :)

Used to go to Carnegie deli, when it was open and I lived in New York . So it's been a while since I was back and wanted an authentic (not pre packaed and pre pickled) corned beef and pastrami sandwich. I couldn't wait. Took a 2 hour train ride into the city with friends ,who I dragged along. After a short wait and a hot dog while waiting, my mouth was watering for that corner beef sandwich. We sat and had a great waiter who promptly took our order and returned fairly quickly with our order, minus a couple of the sides, which he retrieved and did not charge us for. Kudos to him for that.
However the moment I had long been waiting for was a giant letdown. We must have gotten a bad cut of the brisket, it was tough and chewy(almost rubbery). The pastrami however was very good, but I was sorely disappointed and will not return to Katz's. Maybe second ave deli on my next trip up. How sad that an Icon like Katz's would even serve a piece of meat like that.

Katz's Deli is a landmark. As I live thru the covid19 and at times feel sad, angry and lost I remember I live in a city that never gives into to adversity. I am a proud New Yorker who lives for a great Cornbeef sandwich and Katz's is the place. Servers are friendly and on the ball. It's a place that makes me feel comfy cozy. Many Thanks from one HAPPY customer.

This place is famous for pastrami on rye for a reason. The meat is incredibly flavorful, juicy and tender. Combine that with a side of pickels and some large cut fries and you have one of the best (although not inexpensive) deli meals in the city. Friendly reminder: Do not lose the ticket you're given as you enter, there's a $50 charge if you don't have it!

Quite an experience! Kind of one of those things that you have to do at least once just cos it's so iconic to New York! Expect there to be a line! We were there at before 3 and had to wait for over 30min. It's an interesting system, you queue, get given a ticket, then line up again at each of the slicing stations. Put through your order (try to decide beforehand), before they start preparing they'll slice a little of the meat for you test! Kind of an interesting and fun little quirk! Once you get your sandwich (I recommend getting half pastrami and half corned beef so you get to try both!! ), take back the ticket (the food preparer would have noted the total price on it) you find yourself a table. Don't lose the ticket!! Apparently it's $50 to replace! Not sure whether it's true but that's what the sign says. One sandwich will easily feed two people! We were not v hungry and us two girls only managed at most a bit more than half. There's loads of meat. The corned beef has more flavour cos it's slight saltier but pastrami was more tender. I'm not massive meat eater but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Once you're done with your meal you head back towards the entrance to pay if you're settling in cash. Otherwise there's another cashier towards the back of the restaurant if you're paying by card. Worth checking out! Russ and Daughters is just down the street so you can easily smash both in the one go (which is what we did)!! Enjoy!!

If you're looking for a great New York deli experience, Katz's is the place to come! They have great food and huge portion sizes. I got the roast beef sandwich and it had about a pound of meat on it! The counter service is New York gruff and fast paced, but that's part of the charm. Even without the draw of When Harry Met Sally, Katz's is very busy. I went on a Saturday night at about 10:00 and it was still really busy. If you go during the day, expect to wait!

I went to Katz's to pickup chicken broth (no matzo balls) as I had a stomach bug and couldn't eat solid food. They charged me $10.90. I explained the situation and the guy at the counter went to speak with his manager. After a few minutes he returned and said he could lower it to $10.00.

Old school jewish deli.
Very busy, reminds me Texas bbq houses.
Beef pastrami sandwich meat overloaded impressive for sure.
This is why people coming here.
Tasty meat and pickles the rest is just on your imagination: add eggs and cheese to your sandwich or matzo ball soup would be also kosher food options.
By the way you can buy dry and wet salami, beef made only, for a present.

I like this place , it's my brother's favorite place , you know it's old school , you don't really have too many places like this around much anymore , the was nice enough I gave her a tip & so did my brother, she made a good suggestion that was better than mines.

It s good, it s good enough to come here once not more. The pastrami sandwiches are great. The place has much history. Doorman gives you a ticket at the door and as you order the price of your meal is changed. In order to pay with a credit card go to the salami station located after the drink order station.
