This was the absolute most disgusting Philly Cheese steak I have ever tried. There was absolutely NO seasoning on here. I couldn't even taste the peppers and onions. Unless you like the plain taste or just meat on bread with cheese don't waste your time!!!!!

$21.95 for a good tasting pastrami sandwich piled in THE CENTER about 2 inches thick and less on the ends was way overpriced. And about 5 inches long. I'm not a cheapskate but can't justify it.

Look, you're here because this place is a New York City institution, a landmark. The atmosphere is dense with 20th -century history. And yes, the Pastrami sandwich is out of the world. Truth be told, you'll find better food elsewhere (bar the pastrami and corned beef sandwiches) but you won't care. It's the experience that matters here.

Excellent sandwiches and service. Worth every penny you spend. The place is busy and you will have the choice to order from a Waiter or from a Carver. Do yourself a favor and order from the Carver and then find a seat. The pickles we're excellent as was the service.

Katz's Deli IS NYC - the best Deli bar none. In the same location since 1907. My father took me there when I was 7 years old in 1960. It still looks exactly the same as it did then - and I'm glad it does. The line was out the door on Sunday at 3:30pm. Their sandwiches are heavenly - thick, juicy; the best tasting deli sandwiches on earth - but they'll cost you; $21.00 for a brisket on rye bread. It's well worth it - go there hungry.

Eat here for the Pastrami Reuben's or just plain Pastrami on rye. The food is ridiculous and has to be shared, unless it is your only meal for the day. The ambience is best described as chaotic, a true NYC experience.

I have little bad to say about this place. The biggest restaurant we visited in NYC by for times. The sour pickles we got while waiting for our order were out of this world. The sandwiches are big enough to feed two, piled high with pastrami. Latkes were to die for, loved it with applesauce. My only complaint is that this place knows its famous. Not only for its food, but a famous movie scene was filmed inside. The prices are astronomically high. We ate here as an experience and loved it and highly recommend it, but we won't be back next time we are in NYC simply because the prices. Two sandwiches, one order of latkes, one knish, and one bagel with water to drink ran us $90 not including tip.

Good, not worth the hype if you are waiting in that long line. We went at a time they were fairly slow so we didn't have to wait. Sandwich was huge, it was good, but not worth standing in a long line for.

I have been a customer of Katz Deli for many years.During that time I have purchased many pastrami sandwiches. Last Saturday I traveled from my home in Valley Stream specifically to purchase sandwiches for my family. I purchased four sandwiches at 21.00 each. I was totally disappointed with the quality of these sandwiches. The Pastrami was tough and not melt in your mouth like they usually are. I think the Katz organization should refund my money. My family and I were very disappointed. I will be sending a formal request to the owners regarding my experience.

Katz's is legendary, the dinner is famous for serving massive portions. We tried a half brisket and matsu-ball soup.
They have both take-out and dine-in options. You can choose to order yourself from one of the cutting stations or sit-down and have a waiter take your order.
I recommend going to the counter where you can see the chef's at work, they even let you try the meats as they carve them in front of you.

The wait in line is a bummer, but hang out and get to know your line buddies! It kills to.e and you make some friends. Interact with your cutters! Ask about their work but NEVER ask for Mayo! The Pastrami is the best and the picked tomatoes are a treat! Do not lose your ticket whatever you do! Hint.. move down the line to the back cutters don't just stop at one or two.

I thought it was a tourist trap given the prices and lines of tourists but the pastrami is life-changing food. The brisket and mazo soup were good too but the pastrami is what u need and nothing else

No comments needed. Looking for a sandwhich. This is it! Trying to think when is a good time as there's always a queue. When it's this good can't escape a queue #thingsimissabtNYC

Katz has a great pastrami sandwich. Possibly the best meat at any deli I've ever been to. I won't elaborate as Katz's reputation is already quite strong. It's a NYC treat and highly recommended at any hour.

Cool place. Was visiting NYC for a long weekend & went there late night & the deli was insanely busy. Well worth the wait as the food was amazing. Expensive but its NYC and the food was incredible. Not your typical deli that's for sure. You have to experience this place, unreal. The entire restaurant has cool pictures everywhere with famous visitors all autographed. You could spend hours just looking at the scenery. Oh coarse, "I'll have what she's having" is highlighted as the cool place to sit. Very cool place, go for food, stay for the fun!

My first time in NYC and I had to go to Katz's. When I saw the side of their sandwiches I knew I would be in trouble. Luckily they offer a combo of soup and half sandwich. This will give you an n opportunity to try one of their famous sandwiches and wonderful soups. I had the matzo ball soup and half Reuben. Perfection

Beautiful, delicious sandwiches (corned beef is crazy juicy and abundant). It is a shame though that the customer service system is completely obsolete and personnel are rude and may I say a little discriminating (I m a Mexican tourist). Lost my ordering ticket (yes there is such a thing in 2018) and the personnel was rude and unhelpful. Sad, not coming back cause loved the food. Found the damned ticket in the end, btw

A must when visiting NYC. If you go during the day, expect a very long line. But it moves very fast. The longest line is usually just 25 minutes. Once inside, practice how to order your sandwich. Do not order your pastrami with Mayo!

But ordering one of these massive sandwiches is a must. They are actually big enough to share.

Don t lose your ticket and don t try to take it with you.

Drinks and sides are not ordered at the cutters section. And neither are the burgers and hot dogs.

Enjoy your visit here. It s delicious.

I deeply love Katz

Their Instagram channel is fantastic!
My dog may he rest in peace literally lived loved and died for this pastrami. Let me share my favorite story about this fabulous pastrami. As a gift I received on the West Coast a Kaitzes pastrami. Now when you receive one on the West Coast you have to boil it for like six hours!

This was like foreplay that never ended for my dog he was a very good and well behaved dog but simply he could not take this fabulous smell any longer LOL he just had to have some. Well his final meal was at the vet when he was put to sleep with his bone cancer was in fact this pastrami!

Always worth the trip for some food and drink from the old country and my childhood, Dr Brown cream soda, Kiska, and great pastrami on rye. It may be expensive but true rare things always are. These things were easy to find throughout the NY NJ area as a child now only a few places to still find the real stuff enjoy a taste from the past

Great food with a great atmosphere. Be prepared for a little wait to be served. Don't bother with table service, just find a table in the central section and then queue at the counter for your food.

The food was phenomenal. Make sure you use cash here. "Marty" waited on me and somehow my $10 tip (scribbled on the bill) turned into $20 when it came out of my bank account.

Love this place, very basic, no frills menu, not really sure if this is your typical diner, it's set up like a cafeteria, as you enter you get a ticket, which you will keep so don't lose it, go in line, order what you want, get it, sit down, chill, eat, pay when you leave. AMAZING fresh REAL turkey sandwiches, not deli meat, we are talking right off the bird... HUGE portions, and fun atmosphere. Tons of photos on the wall of all kinds of famous personalities who have eaten there, and of course it's one awesome fact, they filmed the diner scene with Meg Ryan and Billie Crystal from When Harry Met Sally. How can you not love that? I miss being close to this place, but still have my Katz mug at home to remind me of what I am missing.

This place is amazing! It has been working since 1888 and it has kept the 18 s environment. The best dish is defenitely the pastrami sandwich. The reason why I m giving it 4 stars is because the restrooms and the eating tables were a little dirty. The service is awesome, all the waiters and cooks are very kind and happy. Excellent place to eat hotdogs and pastrami!

I know every tourist guide says eat here, but there s a reason - great food, great atmosphere! You can t go wrong with either the pastrami or corn beef - might want to share because these are HUGE sandwiches!

A New York institution, where Harry met Sally and were the walls are filled with tons of celebrities. The pastrami sandwich is amazing, it is massive but it goes down like butter. The queuing and ordering can be intimidating at first, but it's all worth it. You haven't been to Manhattan, if you haven't been to Katz, and you haven't been to Katz if you haven't had a pastrami sandwich.

It s super pricey and the meat smells like feet. I got the Ruben and it was ok but not worth the $26. I ve had better in D.C. which is saying something. There are so many other good places in the lower east side. It s an iconic place but I wouldn t go back.

The food is the only good thing here, and by that I mean the meat is amazingly good. The bread is pretty mediocre if you want to be kind. The service is beyond rude though, expect to be yelled and and run into by angry staff pushing around oversized carts. This place is also filthy, from the dirty plates your food is served on to the floors and tables that haven't been cleaned since Harry me Sally. They could almost be forgiven because it's always so crowded, but it's only crowded because it so disorganized and chaotic with very few signs and menus really slowing the ordering process down. You'll also see the staff drop knives on the floor then use them to cut your meat. You also have to tip the cutters quite a bit to get the famous amount if meat on your sandwich, but don't bother because you'll get plenty without adding on to the already ridiculous $20 price tag. But the pastrami here is seriously good if you're willing to risk the rest of it.
