Lovely time.. Views .. service Top notch 5 class service
The room is really good and the service is in place.
We did not stay here, but did look around a fair amount.
The place is fabulous! Great amenities. Restaurants offer great choices - food looked delicious and lots of variety.
The location though is perhaps the best part - easy access to lots of places. Very centrally located. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Maybe will stay here next time I'm in Shanghai.
The hotel is great, good facilities and convenient for touristy and business stuff. However, maybe because of this convenience the club lounge is far too busy and too small for the size of the hotel. More than once around meal times I was told there was no room to sit, leaving me to have to go elsewhere to eat. If the lounge is unusable then suddenly there are 100 other hotel options that are comparable but cheaper.
the hotel is conveniently located right next to people's square and west Nanjing road, staff are very polite and friendly.
Highly recommended hotel! Easily accessible to all the tourist attractions, lots of foods and convenience store around. You don t need to bring ur own adaptor as the room comes with interntional plug!
We have slept the last 2 nights at the JW Marriott. The hotel was very luxurious and very good. Price was slightly on the expensive side but it was well worth it.
Wonderful views, of the best breakfasts in the world. The only bad thing is handling the taxi service very badly for the customers.
Incredible property, excellent service, amazing views, large suites with plenty of daily bottled water. Excellent gym.
Good location hotel, facing Changfeng Park, the high-rise view is good, the welcome ceremony is very good. However, the layout of the room was not good, the bed was close to the corridor wall, at a 90-degree angle to the TV, and the bathroom was narrow. The second floor Chinese restaurant tastes very good, the Cantonese style is good, it is worth trying
Great location and amazing views from the corner suites. Always my choice on hotels in Shanghai
Fantastic stay! Great service and beautiful rooms. Gym is great.
Nice location and very well maintained property. Stayed here for business.
The reception is at 38 floor. Interesting fact: the hotel is host to highest library in the world
Nice luxury hotel in the center of town. Don't miss the incredible breakfast buffet. People's Park across the street worth a visit
Hotel well located on People Square, with a metro entrance 50m away.
The hotel lobby is on the 36th floor and offers a magnificent view of People Square and the surrounding area. The rooms are located on the floors above the lobby and are quite large and very well equipped. The breakfast buffet is delicious and very varied. Watch out for the wait on weekend mornings !!!
I am writing this as an American traveler visiting China. I've been to Shanghai twice and I will happily return to the JW Marriott Shanghai.
Where to begin?
Let's start with service -
As soon as you enter the hotel you are greeted and treated as a guest. My check in experience was quick and I was in my room within ten minutes of arrival. At each and every moment throughout my stay the service was top notch. Not one complaint with service.
The room -
My room was a studio suite on the 59th floor and it was MAGNIFICENT. Spacious room with a living room area, plenty of closet space and room to unwind. The bathroom was also comfortable, with an excellent shower and separate bath tub.
Amenities-
If you have access to the executive lounge you will NOT be disappointed. Top notch breakfast offerings as well as snacks throughout the day. Stop in for a cocktail in the evening or just sit by the windows for impressive views of the city.
Location -
I am not extremely familiar with getting around Shanghai but I had no issues getting around via subway or taxi. The hotel staff is happy to help with getting around.
Are you a new visitor to Shanghai? If so book this hotel and don't think twice. Rooms are clean, amenities are aplenty and you won't leave disappointed.
While this is JW hotel, the property is somewhat old, but fares relatively well given its excellent location.
Very good service, elegant environment, quiet, clean
Very nice clean hotel in Shanghai, good accessibility to the colorful, New Garden and Airport on the other side (everything within 1 hour via taxi)
Very good breakfast with Chinese, French, German, American, British selection. Eig. More than anything your heart desires.
Another big plus is the good hotel conditions for GYM and the pool in the basement.
One of my favorite hotels in Shanghai.
Really good service! The staff is great! And the view is magnificent. The food was good and the hotel really clean.
Lovely accommodation and very well set up for guests. Highly recommended
What an amazing hotel. The rooms are wonderful and the room service food is great.
Excellent service at the front desk. Great view of the city from every room. Service at breakfast could be improved. Felt like some of the servers didn't cared about the experience of people staying there.
Amazing hotel with top class rooms and other amenities
Stayed here for a handful of days in October. I usually stay at the Marriott City Center, but from a suggestion from a friend, decided to stay here. One of the benefits of this place is the great views. It is much higher up than the other hotels on the Puxi side, so you get a great view of the city. One thing I didn't like about the room was how dim it was. At night, even with all the lights on, I thought I left some lights off.... I had them all on when I checked again. Location is good, but for tourists, there are probably better ones. Good business trip hotel.
i was there twice.. a really nice place to be. awesome view over shanghai from the hotel bar.
Going to Shanghai with your family, the location of the hotel is good, it is more convenient to go to the subway. It is very convenient to eat and shop around. Hotel facilities are also very good, the room is clean, the equipment is new, the service is warm. Hotel accommodation can be parked for free and the security is very responsible.
We met the apartment residences of the hotel, for longer stays. Site with all the good practices and excellence of the brand. Hotels in China generally have very good rates.
Premium hotel!
The corner room is just amazing!
Make sure to ask for rooftop access when either having lounge access as a gold member or booking a room with additional lounge access!
Highest library in the world is a relaxing and calm place to read without the noise in the lounge below.
Location's great. Right smacked in people's square where most of the train stations connect. You can take train line 2 from the airport and drop by people Park station (exit 11). From there, it's just a left turn and 5 min walk. Anyhow room was decent (a little dated) but a special call out to the gym (good range of dumbbells from 10-35kg, and many static machines including an assisted squat rack). I would stay here again given its excellent location, and customer service counter. A little critic would be the servers standing on L38 hall, they can at least greet the guests or put on a smile.
Good location, next to the Yellow River Road, a lot of small restaurants, too convenient. The hotel's lobby is on the 38th floor and is not very stylish. The service is a bit slow but acceptable. The room facilities are good, the bed is very high, very comfortable and the pillows are very comfortable.
Nice building, nice rooms, nice lobby (located on floor 38!). Breakfast has all you need with friendly and quick staff.
Excellent reception, facilities and room service.
From your entry, you are ushered into a friendly atmosphere and the front desk is awesome.
They are willing to help foreigners find directions and will give you tips on staying safe in the ancient city of Shanghai.
Perfect location, amazing view from cafe on 38/F and room (mine was on 49/F looking at the People's Park). Impeccable service from bell boy to front desk to manager in the restaurant. Breakfast was nice with fantastic view; lunch buffet was so-so in terms of variety of food. The room is a bit dated and the central location also means horrible traffic at times. Suggested a drink or coffee on 38/F but would prefer a newer hotel.
Amazing the views are so cool!! Our room was on the 54 floor and you could see just about everything in the city.
Review is for the Chinese Restaurant, Wan Hao. While the experience was lovely (attentive staff, comfortable atmosphere), that's something you'd expect from this caliber of a hotel. In terms of food, it was utterly average. Nothing really stood out--it's telling when you can get more flavorful xiao long bao on the streets. Frills but no character.
Very good service. Highly recommended hotel. Super views also
First of all it is beautiful. You can use it with confidence.
It is a water supply, but the water in the wash basin can be included in the mouth. You do not have to use plastic bottle water to brush your teeth. The water in the bath will look quite pale and yellowish, but it is acceptable. There is no smell. If you want a sense of cleanliness here will be satisfactory
The staff is also kind.
The place is a little distance to walk such as the new world, but I think it is a good location if you consider the quietness and the goodness of access.
We love the JW, unparalleled customer service. Our family and fiends had 5 rooms over western New Years and everyone enjoyed the stay. Highlights were the concierge lounge and fantastic fitness room. Shanghai is an incredible city and the JW at Tomorrow Square is the place to stay.
Excellent location and offer great view of Shanghai skyline. Ask for room facing the downtown direction
Beautiful hotel, absolutely recommended for the area and with excellent services and good food.
Great location and walkable to Bund and Shanghai tower visible
Out of this world. Wow. by far the best hotel I've ever stayed in.
Very good hotel and especially lounge with great food which is not usual for Shsnghai. If you go there over WE they usually offer a pretty competitive rate ! Rooms are big and nicely furnished with a modern design. Great hotel to stay in.
I'm not sure the previous reviewer has been at the this hotel - there is wifi, and at least 4 restaurants / places to get food. Lovely surroundings. Only one negative is the crazy lift system. Separate lifts for arrival, guest floors and then spa and pools! It's a long trek to find the pools....
I think it's a 30 minute walk to the Bund.
Only one issue is English speaking is limited for many staff - my Chinese is terrible but then I am not working in a Chinese hotel ;-) .
I would definitely stay again.
Great Hotel, top location and amazing view of the skyline, but lacking in additional services like wifi and restaurant.
Very good desserts but continental food was not very fresh.
Management told me in Jan2015 that they would have started soon a refurbishment. The RitzCarlton in Shanghai was maybe superior at that time.
the best part of the hotel is its location. Everything is walking distance from it - places to eat, offices, malls, metro stations, etc.
The service of the hotel staff is good as well, although there is lot of room for improvement in their spoken english, which is essential for a hotel of repute of Marriotts.
Excelent service.
The hotel is great, whit great views and service.
The service is a bit pricy but is worthy.
The chinese restaurant has a great service with a great food selection and amazing attention.
Its near a lot of sightseens
Stayed here twice, faboulus hotel with great amenities. Service is too good. We would get variety of food style like Asian, Italian, Americans n etc ...love the place. Must stayed here when you visit Shanghai.
Safe and comfortable, elegant grades, star service recommended
The breakfest is not as good as expected.
Library entrance is at executive floor, which you have no access.
Good view from the room.
Impressive views from all locations. Highly recommended.
Solid experience all round - staff, dining, facilities and location. Yes, some of the hotels across the river may be more balanced for business or tourists but this place provides easier access to the older businesses (office, sales or manufacturing) in the city. Above all the elevation of the lobby area though matched in other locations affords an environment for business meetings or casual social mixing.
The buffet is sumptuous and a notch above all similar sized hotels. The staff ensure that all your needs are met if practical.
The rooms are furnished with attention to detail. All consumables are replenished with reserve such that calls to housekeeping are unnecessary. Of course, it has aged a bit; the wood paneling gives off its age but that shouldn't detract from enjoying your stay.
Excellent service and location. Loved the bathtub with view. Lounge staff were more than welcoming and professional.
Great hotel that has impeccable service. Good location and views. Can't go wrong with this hotel.
Decent location, hotel itself is pretty average for a Marriott
Hotel location is very good, the transportation is convenient, the subway is direct, the room view is very good, the temperature is clean and tidy, the bed is comfortable! I like the small sofa in front of the bed, and I can comfortably put my feet on the TV! If you can give some seasonal fruits, it will be more perfect!
Unbelievable views, helpful staff, delicious food, and a stunning rooftop pool made for a successful trip representing my university.
Highly recommend this very well located hotel with excellent service! Well managed from top to bottom by Silvio Rosenberger. The lovely Maria Sablina Dir. Guest Relations is WONDERFUL!!! The staff was really terrific. Excellent housekeeping. The views from the rooms are spectacular as the lobby is on the 38th floor and the rooms go up from there. Breakfast was really fantastic with amazing selection of Asian and Western foods including Shanghai (pancake?) ; noodle bar; salad bar; dim sum, eggs, yogurt, baked goods. They even have ICE CREAM!! And the breakfast room has great views from the window tables. Good location - can walk to the Bund down Nanjing Road. ADDENDUM...just back from my 2nd stay here. ALL still amazing with fantastic service and views. I would never stay anywhere else in Shanghai. Made my trip!
The hotel has many positives like location, excellent staff and good gym. Two issues drag it down. One is the hotel is starting to show its age with furniture, elevators, etc starting to get worn out. The second is a general problem with Marriott's opening up exec lounge to anyone willing to pay extra. The number of people they are putting into the lounge makes it hardly a perk. If you have status with mariott suggest you try one of the other properties.
The most satisfying service is the service, from the first step into the hotel, until the last sentence of departure, the whole process can be seen by the service staff. As long as you meet each other and smile, as long as the eyebrows are different, you will ask for the demand. Won my heart.
In addition, the location is excellent, the hardware facilities are perfect, and if the budget is sufficient, it can be used as a small spot for Shanghai one or two days. But some people may think that it is still old here, after all, it has been built for a long time. Personally feel no harm.
There is no chance to try breakfast, the Executive Lounge can still deal with it, but it is recommended to explore the surrounding food.
There was a small misunderstanding during the stay, and it was also able to be settled with kindness. Some things were really not allowed by the residents and the hotel.
Incredible hotel! The reception is on the 38th floor, the restaurant in the 39th and the rooms above (until 59th!) The view is impregnable regardless of the orientation of the rooms. The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms also with shower and bath. And the sight, whether day or night, is hypnotizing. Very nice buffet breakfasts. This hotel is magical !!!
Excellent view, overpriced and ok food but I wouldn't expect any better...
Awesome convention stay hotel. Great staff and amenities. Fantastic place to visit any time of year.
Superior service, great food, and a central location right by People's Square. Tip: since waiting for the elevator can take a long time, opt to switch elevators at floor 38 as that's much faster.
Very nice hotel as the aesthetics are one of the best I've seen in a Marriott property. Afterall, this property is relatively new. The hotel has a very unique shape that it stands out very differently than all other buildings in the area: it reminds me of an alien spaceship almost. You can see it from very far away.
Like many hotels in China, hotel check-in is not in the first floor. You check-in at around floor 36 I think, which is really high up there. The nice thing is that you already get to see the nice views already at check-in. The open lounge area is there for people to chat and connect, although it was really loud in the evening.
Since I was a Marriott Titanium member at the time, free breakfast and access to the lounge was included. Self-served breakfast was fantastic as you get a mixture of western and chinese-style food. Gelato are also included in the morning. As for the lounge, free food are also included at set times. I recalled the food was also really good in the lounge that you technically don't even need to go out to eat since they have so much there already. Great place to relax, study, work, or chat with some of your colleagues.
I was, however, somewhat disappointed with the room as it was small and tiny. I guess rooms like these in these hotels of calibre are the norm? I don't recall asking for a free upgrade, so this may explain why I didn't get a bigger room. Nonetheless, nice hotel to stay as it is also centrally located to a lot of things nearby.
We had 2 nights before our cruise out of Baoshan and stayed at the JW. With the lobby on the 38th floor and our room on the 45th, the views of the financial district are fantastic.
Staff were extremely helpful with the bellboy using his wechat to help hail taxis and translating everything for us.
The rooms are amazingly clean and the amount of US/International outlet options meant I didn't have to pull out any power adapters. The bath tub is huge and the shower amazing with 3 different sprays. The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of table space to get work done. The wifi was fairly fast but you will need a VPN and it is behind the Great Firewall. Overall the rooms rival any high end hotel.
Both mornings we ate in the buffet and the selection is something of a wonder. American, British, Chinese, there is something for almost everyone. 8 different fruit juices, omelettes to order, salad, charcuterie, dim sum, ramen, pancakes, Gelato, bacon, sausage, tea eggs, lo mein, Szechaun beef. When I say everything, Iean EVERYTHING. All the dishes were well stocked, hot and fresh. The pork and shrimp dim sum was fantastic. I can't reccomend the buffet enough and the views are amazing from the 38th floor.
If you are staying in Shanghai, please consider the JW. Great experience.
Amazing hotel. Located in the heart of Shanghai s commercial and shopping district and within easy reach of the city s many leisure attractions. Every rooms offers captivating views of the city. Love the restaurant and amenities. First Class !
Awesome place to stay in while in Shanghai. Near to shopping street along Nanjing West road. Great service & food by Marriott, never fail to impressed its guests.
Solidly the best JW Marriott I've stayed in.
We took a suite on the 59th floor (suite is highly recommended, you won't get a better value for money deal anywhere else in the world).
Interesting fact, reception was on the 38th floor.
Food was beyond extraordinary, with a range of different cuisines (Indian Chinese and western). Executive lounge (closes at ~9pm) was stalked full with unique goodies .
Alcohol mixes are top class, the service excellent. Will definitely go back there again, No questions asked.
Convenient location, good staff, good food, clean rooms
Beautiful view from the higher floors.
Live music in the hotel lobby.
Friendly staff .
What more does someone want :-)
Hotel locate at the heart of Shanghai, easy to reach any shopping or commercial district. Subway station & also different kind of shopping area, is just few minutes walk.
And all the rooms here can see the amazing views of the city, as it is the higher around this area. The room is clean & large, but a bit dated, and starting to get worn out such as the carpets in room. I like there was plenty of table spaces. And I know they did change the lighting in the room, as it used to be so dark in the room, even turn on all the lights.
The Wi-Fi was stable & fairly fast. The gym facility is great. The 59/F club lounge view is magnificent, but it always too busy & too small for the size of the hotel, number of people allow to access the lounge & makes it hardly perk. The food during the evening cocktail is so-so, and almost everyday is the same.
Impeccable services from the bell attendant to the front desk to the staff in restaurant and the staff in 59/F lounge.
Specially professionalism services from the guest service manager, Jessica. Also from the restaurant manager, Jeffrey Zhou, Aviva, Eva & Adam. And great hospitality from the concierge Raven, Tom, John & Eason.
The service was second to none. Ok, maybe the JW in Seoul was about the same - but I also gave that one 5 stars :). This hotel is a must if staying in Shanghai. Convenient to everything (5 minute walk to subway or malls). Incredible views! Large rooms and several restaurants that served excellent food.
Nice hotel but doesn't live up to JW's standard of quality. Finishes are old and there are several flaws, sometimes including leaky windows or electrical problems. However, the service is good.
Very nice hotel at good location near to people square and pedestrian street Nanjing Lu...7mins to famous Xin tan di...lot of night life nearby...dont forget famous Zapata club 12mins by car...
