As usual, Jumbo didn't disappoint in terms of the food quality and selection. First time at the East Coast branch, and hosted out of town guests for dinner on a Monday night. Place was packed (def need reservations). Must def order the chilli crab (with deep fried mantou), coffee pork ribs, deep fried baby squid, and deer meat. Cereal prawn (with oats) was something new and unique for the guests. Will definitely come back. A little pricey but worth it if you can afford it.

Really poor service due to being understaffed. One would have to literally drag a service staff by the hair to bring him/her to your table.

Rather pricey as well.

Quality of food is still quite decent considering the hordes of tourists that the kitchen is serving.

Good food but very pricey. Also have been to the branch at Clarke Quay and East Coast definitely has the better atmosphere/scenery overlooking the sea.

Taking a Grab car there from downtown only costs around $10 and feels less touristy than Clarke Quay.

Went during CNY for reunion dinner. Was very crowded and service was a mess. Their staff to customer ratio was too wide. Food was also very average. This outlet is probably the worst Jumbo amongst all the outlets on the island. Definitely won't recommend if you're expecting the usual Jumbo Seafood standard.

Great black pepper crab, cereal prawns, chili crab, mee goreng, satay, and my favorite version of sootong youtiao (fried dough filled with squid paste) in Singapore. And pitchers of beer!

There are two stores in central Singapore and one by the sea in the suburbs.
The two stores in the city center were fully booked, so I asked a friend from Singapore to reserve a store in the suburbs.
It takes about 20 minutes by taxi from Marina Bay Sands.
A reservation is always required.
I brought vinyl gloves with me, but I ended up eating Chiki Club with my bare hands.
I think you only need Wet tissue.

Good food, nice ambience and polite staff. However do book in advance especially during the festive period. I recommend trying the chilli crab with fried mantou and black pepper crab. Probably one of the nicest in Singapore

This is one of the very popular seafod places in Singapore. A very popular location where a lot of famiies go for family meals. Enjoy the food. they serve the popular chilli crab of Singapore as well. It can be reached by taxis only. Not much connectivity by local transport. After a nice run on ECP, can enjoy a meal here! Their menu is vast so do enjoy your meal here. If you are in Singapore, I would highly recomment coming here for a meal.

Old school and authentic. Beautiful setting and no nonsense approach to the food. Order everything or anything tough to go wrong here. The food is amazing, especially the crab and the buns.

A bit Disapointing to what I expected
Service was unorganized with the veges coming out first with mains 1/2 hr later the chilli crab that we came for was also a let down
The bigest crabs are 500g we expected to be able to order up to 2-3klo same as back in Sydney.
Location was on the water and the ship lights looked great
The dish was just lacking omph
Getting back to the city was also another experience as very little cabs around , there were about 15 couples waiting and we were lucky that we had cash as most would not except card
Tried to book a cab but having brought my mobile on roaming the cab companys rejected the calls I made
As did other couples

Wow what a very popular restaurant this place is and so worth the cab ride out to East Coast Seafood we bought a 2.9kg Alaskan King Crab and also a mud crab and had half of the Alaskan crab done in Pepper sauce and the other half of the Alaskan Crab and the mud crab done in the famous chilli sauce and it was probably the best meal we had in Singapore we were told about this place by locals as we were in town for work and it certainly didn t disappoint us.
The drunken prawns were very good as well.
The Crab was bought out weighed in front of use and then cooked and served.

Jumbo wins on one aspect and it's enough - CONSISTENCY

I'm not a seafood fan per say but I've tried a few restaurants... The good and the bad. To be honest, I've only started eating Jumbo more this year and I'm simply blown away by their food.

In comparison to other joints I've been, the CONSISTENCY in flavour and texture of the food makes this place a very safe and comfortable place to return to. You will always get what you expect.

I tend to judge tze char restaurants by their Kang Kong Belachan as its a staple dish and tells you of the quality of their base Belachan.

This has the best Kang Kong belachan I've eaten ever. Paired with their consistently good white rice... It's a winner and deserves its praises.

Though its getting touristy its good that many locals still flock back here!

Great location with nice open atmosphere. Chilly crab was good. We had spicy cod stir fry and bamboo clams - which were very good. Little pricy and could have been cheaper. Overall good to do it for one time.

It s the first time to experience fishing fish sang, it s fun!
It's just that the prices in Singapore are really high. The feast at the same price can be very rich and full in Taiwan.
But travel is about experience, it's worth it!

The food is gd. But service I feel is lagging quite fair bit. Have been patronising them for long time since serangoon gdn outlet. Do remember to make your reservation early and be patient as they can be quite slow when it's full house.

My second visit to East Coast and first at Jumbo. I just know it won't be my last!

Two standout dishes: the chilli crab (anyone coming here but doesn't order this dish ought to reflect on their lives) and oatmeal prawns. The chilli crab is quite uniquely Singaporean...several Malaysian restaurants serve curry crab but it's largely different...and inferior. Several others attempt recreating this dish, but it just doesn't taste the same. Don't be put off by the word "chilli", it isn't that spicy. 9/10

The other dish was the oatmeal prawn, which is prawns covered in batter and coated woth oatmeals and then deep fried. End result: crunchy and aromatic exterior with fresh and juicy meat on the inside. 9/10

PS if you liked their dishes, they have ready mix packets for sale as well. Gimmicky, maybe. But when the craving is so real, one will give in to just about anything...

The chili crab sauce has always live up to its name. Tasty chili sauce paired with fried small bun. Mud crab was not available when we went there and we are serve with dunguness crab.

Incredibly poor experience. Having been a Jumbo member for years and having eaten at Jumbo Dempsey/Riverside over 10 times, I have to say this is hands down the worst experience I have ever had at Jumbo. Staff are just overwhelmed during peak hour and just cannot cope. I ordered 2 side dishes to eat with a fried rice but the fried rice (a simple Yang Zhou fried rice) only came 30 minutes after the 2 side dishes - by then, my side dishes were all cold. When I asked for the bill, it also took 15 minutes for them to get back with the printed receipt and even longer to get my credit card back. All in all, a truly terrible and shocking experience at Jumbo. It is quite unacceptable and I can't in good faith recommend anyone visiting this outlet or ever bringing anyone here again as it is just understaffed and the staff cannot cope (I have sympathy for the staff and I dont think it is their fault, they are just incredibly short staffed. Honestly, you just expect so much more from Jumbo).

The iconic crab must go in Singapore. It is always busy here so know that you must make reservations or be ready for a long wait. The food does do justice to the hype. Well connected on bus routes and and with Taxis.

I would say it's a decent restaurant. It's famous for tourists but for people living in Singapore more than a year, should have more other choices. Overall it still above average includes chili crab and your bill.

Loved the black pepper crab and the chilli crab that they had.
They have indoor sitting area and outside sitting area as well which would have been nice, if we sat there, as it is by the beachside. We however went in air conditioned zoned inside and were seated on the first floor.
Service was good and food was great. Just make sure you ask for plastic hand gloves early in process to eat your crabs else big mess awaits you or if you are a pro to crack the crabs with tools provided then its okay.
They have other food as well. We ordered something called drunken prawns which were good too but crabs were the highlight.
They serve beer and drinks too.

I loved the location of this restaurant. The view is amazing.
I like watching all these big boats lined up Ina ND out of the port.
For the restaurant like the variety of the seafood and the different cooking styles you choose from. We tried the black pepper crab, the scallops we asked for special way to cook and they did it for us. And we also had some noodles which were very tasty.
The service was ok+ as they were very busy.

Having enjoyed a Chilli Crab dinner some years ago...

Having enjoyed a Chilli Crab dinner some years ago we decided to repeat the experience on this last trip to Singapore on 16th April 2016. We took a taxi to the East Coast branch and ordered Chili Crab. During the meal my wife noticed that her claw tasted and smelled strange. We called the waitress who smelled the item, winced, said nothing, but replaced the claw. We were presented the full table #702 bill of S$150.89 (2 persons!!) despite our mention to the cashier Mee Ces Un of the issue.
The following day my wife's suffered symptoms of food poisoning and severe stomach upset and fever which ruined our only one full day in Singapore en route back to Australia..
There is a lot of pressure to buy at this restaurant which is part of their culture. However we feel much more care needs to be taken by Jumbo Management to ensure at the crab purchasing, reception, cooking and serving points to detect such defects. Jumbo Seafood has a process defect that cannot ensure a quality product. The price they charge demands such scrutiny.
After all Jumbo are the experts and should deliver excellence which they did not. The lack of English by some staff should not be used to ignore serious customer service issues such as this. The recommended "Long Beach" is next door and will receive our next visit.
I found no email address on the web so I might have been able to take up this issue with management.
