Joseph's Family Restaurant Stillwater Review

Great place for breakfast, but I hate that they are trying to turn this place in to a neighborhood bar and grill. It ruins the family atmosphere.

Great pie from Joseph's! Got Pecan Pie takeout for Thanksgiving.

Great location with nice decor but the worst food I have ever tasted. First, I ordered the Margherita pizza flatbread. Instead of a flavorful crust with fresh basil, thin slices of tomato and torn mozzarella, I got a limp, oily crust with some type of flavorless government cheese and tomato wedges. I thought perhaps it was a fluke so I ordered the Walleye dinner entree. Fish was obviously not fresh, batter was tasteless; even worse were the garlic mashed potatoes made with Yukon gold potatos?!? YUCK!! Will NEVER return!!

Apparently the manager doesn't know how to charge the correct prices. I ordered a basket of French fries and an order of cheese curds and he rang it up for full price and then argued with me when I tried to say that it should be happy hour pricing being it was after 8:00. Service has gone way down hill. It's a shame because it's such great food.

All the breakfast items are colder then the winter wether. I got my blueberry waffle and it wasnt the fresh fruit they said it was pie filling straight frome the fridge. To top it all off we waited and hour till the food came with only like 20 people and it's not happy hour!

We catered a rehearsal breakfast from Joe's Family restaurant for a Wedding, but being from Iowa, we really needed some guidance (don't most Iowan's need guidance?). Joe was fantastic, delivered the breakfast and helped us set everything up. The food was great, and we received many compliments. Great service, food, and guidance! Thanks Joe

Wanted to enjoy a mother s day with my family but this was a disaster! Tried to make a reservation for a party of 8 knowing that it would be busy but was informed they don t take reservations, even on a busy day/holiday so we took a chance-never again. Checked in at 10:56 am and told a 30 minute wait- ok with that; checked in again after one hour and told us that we would be seated ASAP. After waiting 90 minutes we were seated, another 30 minutes to order our meal and we finally received our food 120 minutes after arriving. Total time=2 hours and 30 minutes! My son and daughter in law had a 1:45 pm event so they had to leave before the food came. Food was marginal-nothing great. My burger was well done, wanted it medium-rare. Politely suggested that management consider taking reservations for large groups but management said they don t want to start that . Won t be back

Joseph's is one of my favorite places to eat, especially for the pie. I love the rhubarb delight and the German chocolate the most. Their buffalo burger is very tasty and good for you too. Also enjoy the shrimp scampi. Wonderful atmosphere and friendly employees.

Went there for belated Mother's Day awesome food a City staple

We waited forty minutes for our food and they were not busy. Veggie burger served on a dry bun. Meat on the Reubens tasted like it came from a cheap grocery package. Batter fry walleye had no fish on one side, just hollow fried batter. Beer was served in a cracked glass. Manager had no idea how to deal with our complaint. There was absolutely nothing to like.

Great food and great service. Today we found out our waitress Kathy is human. She made a mistake and didn't get our order in right away. Owned up to it and apologized. Wait still wasn't long. Respected Kathy in admitting that she made a mistake. Some would just blame it on the kitchen for being slow. Mistakes happen life went on and suprise no one lost there mind in the process. Great meal large portions. Had the 3 meat omlet and pancakes.

Was very surprised on this visit, the food was not as good as before and it seemed to be more costly.

Really good food and staff! We also picked up some odd their premade mix for the famous pancakes and French toast!

This is where the locals know to eat. Great fare and prices. Try the German Potato salad, but save room for pie.

Stopped by Joseph s for a slice of pie on a Friday night. Their website and the sign on the door indicate they are open until 11PM.
I was there at 10:25 PM, and found both both doors to the restaurant were already locked. Staff were inside cleaning, and paid no attention to the potential customers looking to get a slice of pie to go. I have enjoyed going to this restaurant in the past but was very disappointed by their lack of good standard in keeping their business open when they say it will be open. There were no signs indicating that they were going to close early either. Will I go back? Absolutely. Hopefully I can count on them deciding to stay open next time.

Had fish and chips and fish was overdone. After I left I realized I should have said something but this was the first time this has happened. I have always enjoyed food and service.

The Taco salad was very sparse, too expensive for what you get. Will not go back there.

The staff is so wonderful! They have excellent food and even better customer service. If you want a nice low key spot to sneak and be treated well- Josephs Family Restaurant is a wonderful option..and I have no doubt that you too will become a regular customer like myself.

Great experience at Joseph's for a late lunch! We shared a French dip with a side salad, roasted pepper soup and pork sliders! All hot, fresh and delicious! Jamey was a wonderful and attentive server as well.

Wow...$13.50 for an extremely small portion of a 3 meat breakfast skillet that looked like it was canned meat that was microwaved. Soggy and disgusting. Took one bite because I was starving, but could've even... sent it back and left immediately. Will never go there again and just trying to save somebody from the experience I had. My GF tried eating hers as well, but same thing... the onions and peppers were soggy like microwaved leftovers. I don't know how this place is still in business. On the bright side, our server was very nice.

The food is good and the atmosphere is nice, but the portion sizes are disappointingly small, especially considering how the prices have increased. I'll probably find another place to go next time I'm in town.

Way overpriced and not good food. Hamburger was extremely rare, not to-order, sandwich was soggy and used cheap meat slices, linguini was bland. All entrees inexplicably did not come with sides like fries or potatoes, even if they were under the entree section of the menu with clearly stated choices that come with meal. Exceptions didn't make sense. Saving grace was a decent slice of rhubarb pie. Staff seemed friendly. Comfortable place. But overall very underwhelmed by food that was far too much for the taste and amount.

Amazing service! Great new look! And cant beat the prices!

Last time I stopped for a hamburger was around 10 years ago. The burger was burnt and a dried up little thing. Anyways 10 years go by and I thought I would give it another shot. This time the burger wad raw and so bloody the bun was blood soaked wish I had a picture. Anyway the waitress brought us another round and the burgers were black and well done. Would not recommend if you are looking for a good burger. Try the muddy cow or the not justa cafe down in bayport, way better. I give 2 stars for decent table service and the fries were good.

My family and I came here on (at least) a weekly basis for months. We loved the food but the service started going downhill and when I showed up at 10AM and was denied all 3 things I ordered because they "dont make lunch items that early" , I stopped being able to justify going. Everything I always go in for wasn't available because it's 10? Weird. Maybe if you had a different menu or a different part of the menu for breakfast only? But you can't just hand me a menu and casually say I cant have several things on the breakfast side of the menu because it's too early.

They never recognized any of us by face or name after all that time. We didnt expect special treatment or anything but it's just bizarre to not be familiarized with someone by that time and they really didn't know us.

Best homemade pie especially stores and love the breakfast.

Excellent food, nice environment to eat either breakfast, lunch or dinner. The staff is very friendly and the owner Joe seems to always be working and is very pleasant man. Almost of 5-star but when my wife and l were seated at a table the table was dirty and the waitress handed us a rag to wipe it off as she walked away. Shortly after we wipe down the table she came back and said I apologize I don't know what I was thinking I should have wiped it off for you. We felt better after she said that because she did take ownership of her mistake and service from that point on was excellent.

Had a great meal at Joseph's restaurant last night. Never disappointed!

Prompt service, great choice for pie and coffee. Limited vegetarian options, good breakfast place.

Came in with some hockey families. They did their best to accommodate us quickly.

Breakfast: Was good, nice selection, portion was fine.

Bloody Mary: Regular or Spicy, but they are on the expensive side, $8 for rail vodka. Normal size, chaser, garnish.

Waitstaff: Waitress did a fantastic job running our 3 tables and had the kids under control with drinks and food at just the right times.

4 Stars today. Both of the chicken soups today tasted like fish to us.
Normally we are amazed at the soup.

This was our first time here we had GREAT SERVICE and GOOD FOOD we're definitely coming back for lunch/dinner

Recently my wife brought me to Joseph's for my first time. As she is from Stillwater she had been here several times and really enjoyed it. The food was great and the staff was friendly. I had the bbq rack, it was tender and delicious.

First time here and will come back! Service -A, but the food ? A+++++

Tammy is a good waitress. My granddaughter and I had a great breakfast on the 30th of March, it was on Saturday. She was the best person. Thanks for serving us
