Great calamari, awesome coconut prawns and seafoo...
Great calamari, awesome coconut prawns and seafood fettuccine. Excellent waitress!
Great calamari, awesome coconut prawns and seafood fettuccine. Excellent waitress!
The Blues Redemption band playing tonight was fantastic but the reception desk and reservations line is/was horrible. Our lounge wait staff was great
Been my favorite since the 60s every time i stay in Tacoma
The food was incredible. The dining room staff were friendly and attentive, while not coming around every 2 minutes. And the view? Beautiful. This was my first time, I will certainly be back
We had a lovely Sunday dinner. Enjoyed it very much. Our waitress was fantastic. Thank you.
Good food, awesome spirits.... looking the new decor
The Waiter Made All The Difference, Rick Great Attitude in the Restaurant
The food is amazing. On sunny days it is very crowded so service is a little slow.
Been coming here for years. Melanie and Vanessa are always amazing! They always give outstanding service, making you feel like family. Best seafood fettuccine in town. The only feedback I would give is the chowder is not the same!
Great atmosphere, fun to look at the boats on the water and great fish and chips!
Excellent meal out with a group of friends. Well prepared and served.
Took family here for all you can eat fish and chips. I had gone a while ago n honestly not very happy with it. I heard ownership had changed so thought give it another shot. So glad we did. Real good fish n chips. Crispy and mo if st. Really good service as well. Will be back
Love this place for great drinks and food. The staff is friendly and professional. Good place to hangout with family and friends. Cheers to Vanessa.
Here for a meeting. Staff was helpful and friendly. Enjoyed my avocado with shrimp salad.
I came here for a second time because the first time was good. This time I got the fish and chips and I was disappointed. The fish was soggy and the fries were so greasy I didn't eat it. Don't think I am going to do a third time.
I have to say after eating here many times over many, many years and now the restaurant has new owners, the renovation looks great, the staff are great, but the food is horrible. We had the chowder (tasted awful, burnt maybe or bad clams), halibut was very dry and the martini was terrible. Don't order the martini's!! I used to love this place for decades, but now, don't think I will be back for awhile. Very sad indeed.
Good food with a great
View
Food was great, service was fast, would definitely go back.
Still the 80s chic of a restuarant not capitalizing on their seasoning. That's to say the restaurant isn't yellow and brown but separate colors
Not so good. The fish and chips where terrible. The soup was good..
Waterfront dining, affordable and fun. Great lunch spot.
Solid food (according to our kids the best burgers they have ever had). Great view as well. Could have walked from our hotel near the Tacoma dome, but a quick Uber got us there ( we walked back after dinner).
Fantastic! An older gem on the waterfront that holds its charm!
Excellent rib steak and sesame albacore tuna. Great portion sizes. Nice atmosphere. We will be back.
Make sure to bring a book. Although this place may have it's 5 star moments, it may take an hour to get served...if they remember that you ordered.
I had the 20 Oz T-bone, it was cooked to perfection. IDAHO Baker, steamed vegetables (delicious ) and a fresh house salad. Fresh baked bread brought to your table before your supper.
A Beautiful view of the Marina, watching the boats enter and leave the Marina.
The Staff from the Host to the bussman,
Was friendly and accommodating to every detail.
I will make this place a must stop each time that I'm thru the area.
Don't tell my wife but I had the bread and butter pudding with whisky sauce.
Come and enjoy. I did, you won't regret it.
Waitress are always nice, and the atmosphere is relaxing.
We went there with the intent of having lunch but the particular time we went they didn't have breakfast, lunch or dinner but a very abbreviated menu and they didn't even really want to sit us for that
Lovely view of the water, food is good, service is excellent.
On the deck happy hour. Most recommend especially when nice out. Great specials at happy hour and drinks.
Awesome atmosphere and friendly service and great food by the water, not to miss if visiting tacoma washington!!!
Amazing food and the best service I've had in years. Definitely coming here as much as possible.
Extremely rude staff. We called ahead to make a reservation for last night and were told they were not doing reservations for that evening. When we arrived we were asked if we had a reservation... we said no and the two women at the host counter were very dismissive and said we couldn't be seated then. When we told them about the phone conversation they laughed and said we must have called the wrong number. When we showed them the call log with their number they tried to lie and say it was the wrong number but their number was on the pamphlets on the desk. The manager stood by and didn't say anything. An all around disappointing experience.
location and setting was really nice, drinks well made. Food was delicious but nothing over the top. The reason for the 3 star rating is service. After ordering drinks, spending time reading menu to decide on selection, to be told the daily special wasn't available. We had a 5:30pm reservation. Another option, a special Ceasar salad for 2, wasn't available, reason given is it would require the server to make it at our table versus just bringing out a salad from the kitchen made. The Seafood platter wss good, but when we went to eat the lobster tail, there wasn't any drawn butter. When the server finally came by and was told, and the time the butter was brought, the lobster tail was cold.
Sad
The Easter buffet was good (seafood was not fresh, room was hotter than an oven, buffet was shoved behind the bar by the restrooms great Desserts,Carving Station,Bar) , and very reasonably priced. The server charged us $15 per margarita ( seems steep), then proceeded to insult us at the end of our meal because we had decided to leave her a larger cash tip so put some on our card. Emmalee H., loudly asks "Is that all you have on the card?"
All the tables looked at my husband and I like we hadn't paid for our meals!
Charged us $38 per person, than $15 per cocktail, and than insinuated we couldn't afford to pay?! ON EASTER?! Well thanks for ruining our first holiday buffet, and first ever visit to this establishment! Of course they didn't offer to even consider a small amount off of the meal or even a giftcard to encourage a 2nd visit!
And sadly, evidently all men of color look the same to Lisa the Manager, as she began speaking to another man of color and his family before hearing him, the host, or myself say he was not the person who'd requested to speak with her! She was standing with her back to me less than 8 inches away! Should DEFINITELY NOT REPRESENTING THE RESTAURANT!
Really not a class act at all! If we'd known you only served a certain color/class of person we'd spent our money elsewhere!
Thanks for showing us what you have to offer!
First time we've ever had a negative experience anywhere in Downtown Tacoma! I worked right across the marina at another restaurant and would've at least offered to pay for the meal! Wow! #GuessNot #GoSomeWhereBetter #NotTacoma #NoGritForThe253
#Ruined #Canceled
Wonderfully put together banquet for gmas 100th birthday....
There clam chowder was the best in town for many years but they have decided to ( Water ) it down its terrible, I talk to them they said if we don t like it go somewhere else , bar server very rude .
The food was Excellent! Master Chef Steve Ng actually travels to Alaska Two-Three times a year to catch fresh halibut/salmon for preparation in the restaurant and keep contact with suppliers. He's been doing this for over 20 years. I rate 4.5/5 stars. A Must Try !
Service and the food was awesome. We will be back again.
Food awesome, drinks perfect, new deck perfect, waitress friendly, awesome Friday night outing.
Was very nice water front restaurant.food could have come a little faster
The Seared Ahi was awesome! Cool views of the docks here
Excellent food!!!!! Clam chowder is amazing. Staff was awesome and made sure you had a smile on your face and a satisfied stomach. Love this place!!!!
Worst food every went twice last year one for mother s Day they packed us in and couldn t get up for seconds or dessert because everyone on that side would have to get up and my brothers birthday food sucked and there online menu did not match the in house menu I always look online so I know what I wanted what I wanted was not offered anymore so I had to eat some other dish that was yuk
Best food best service and they make you feel great here! My favorite place!
Great food. The waitstaff is friendly the food came out quickly and everything tasted great. The atmosphere is a little loud but people love the place, so what should you expect.
After going to Johnnys for nearly 35 year's it has sadly gone down hill to a penny pinching place. Gone are the Ceaser Dinner Salads or greens, I can see why their are more open seats than filled one's. Year's ago 5 Stars easy, not any longer.
Great Service
Great Food
Great Drinks
Clean Place
Beautiful View
Good times at this Restaurant Buckman I highly recommend this place 5 stars
The food, atmosphere, employees & views are amazing. I recommend the scallops and halibut cheeks :-) yum yum yum.
Great new owners never been bad, the food
and service is always the best.
food was average, had the fried oysters, fish and chips. Fries were excellant. service was extremely slow and it was only 4pm. Waiter wasn't very helpful, never wrote down order and brought out a pasta dish when ordered fish? not even close! Desert was terrible blackberry cobbler? A can of blackberry sauce warmed with ice cream melted on top! WILL never go back! Think I'll stick to Dukes!!!
Wonderful food, great service. Better than Anthony's!
One of my favorite marinas can't wait till spring when you guys turn the water back on....
Calming atmosphere right on the water and the food was excellent
The food was alright at best. We got stuck in the corner and couldnt get service to save our lives. They had a live band playing which was nice.
Upscale on the water always good food little higher price than the average but certainly good price for the service and quality of atmosphere
We had a wonderful experience last night. The eggnog martinis were delicious as was my prime rib. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the clam linguini. My 11yr old ordered the oyster shooters as an appetizer and they were massive! Our waitress was wonderful as well. She has worked there 40yrs!!! Great evening!
Valentine's day we managed a reservation. We had 2 smallish children. They had a magician and he was absolutely awesome. Waited a bit for our food but it was Valentine's day. The view was beautiful food was good too.
Year food is excellent! I had scallops and they were cooked perfectly! They recently remodeled and it resembles more of a doctor's office than the cozy Johnny's I'm familiar with.
The restaurant is beautiful with dock views. The staff was friendly, and service was quick but left something to be desired (dirty plates left until we were ready for our check), entrees brought out minutes after our appetizers.
For what we paid about $30 per entree, the food was bland and seasonal vegetables very soft and not appetizing.
We were very disappointed.
I'll round up to 4 when reviewing this place. I'll admit I was thinking about a 3 but you have to put it into perspective and look at this place a little differently than other restaurants around the northwest. First off, it's a Tacoma original. Your Johnny's seasoning... it's from this place.
Look around... it's surrounded by trucks. This restaurant is smack in the middle of a working industrial area, so it's going to cater to the working class wanting either a nice evening out or a celebratory lunch after a nice long truck haul. It's a fancy truck stop with a good view.
The food is not what I would consider the best of anything, but good. I'd get the scallops again. If you like crab Louie, get it. It's probably got a pound of crab on it. I realized that I don't much like crab Louie though.
The staff was friendly but hurried. Once again, I got the truck stop feel.
So, go in with a good attitude and a pair of jeans, have a glass of wine, and enjoy.
Took my sweetie and our daughter to Johnny's for Valentine Day dinner. Found prime rib full of fat and steak tough, portions tiny, and expensive. I was chef there 40 years ago. Things were much much better.
Oh the food... And the view!
Have a great lunch with some co-workers. Service was fantastic as was the food and the relaxing view.
GREAT PLACE FOR 5 OF US LADIES FROM THE MACY'S FURNITURE GALLERY TO GATHER FOR BIRTHDAYS. ..WE ALL TRAVEL IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS. ..3 ARE RETIRED
AND US 2 LEFT WILL BE RETIRED THIS NEXT YEAR..THIS IS OUR GO TO STOP EVERY YEAR. ....HOPE THE NEW OWNER'S
HAVE EXCITEMENT AROUND THE CORNER.
LOVE TO MEET THEM.
THANK YOU FOR A LOVELY DAY AT JOHNNYS. .
If there was a minus stars I would do it. Horrible service! The server bumped into another customer and melted butter flew all over my outfit and my plate which ruined my meal. So instead of trying to offer any club soda or help to clean my table the server runs off. Mind you the butter is setting in my clothes! Thanks for a wonderful memory for my 1st Thanksgiving with my husband! The manager was worse then the server! Didn't offer any assistance, but walked away!
The food and the service was superb. Thank you for great time out.
Mike
Great food and great view. Only complaint is that the place didn't seem super busy but it still took 20 minutes to get drinks and probably an hour to get food
