This company took a deposit of $33,000 from my elderly mother in April. They then basically ghosted us. They don't return phone calls, texts, or emails. This is August and they still have our deposit and refuse to respond. I am contacting my lawyer to see what can be done to recoup the money from the project that they didn't do. Do not use these clowns unless you enjoy being aggravated and ignored!

So....it's been a month since I posted my original review, which was in no way complementary...I was asked by Percario to please remove the negative review and that they would work to fix the problems that were occuring and assured me that things would move along and get better. It's been a month....the kitchen is still not done....and the original problems of NON communication and no show for work IS still happening....Seriously, once again if I could give a negative 1000 stars I would. I, again caution anyone wanting to use Percario, if you have all the time in the world....literally....go ahead and use them...it's just getting it finished is the problem. from the beginning of July 2018 until......still not done. To the Percario social media team, I am not taking this one down...don't even call and ask.

Requested pricing for a pantry to be installed in ...

Requested pricing for a pantry to be installed in my home two weeks ago, as well as future fencing/decking pricing. I am still waiting for my estimate. Called the company yesterday, and the woman said she would email Dominic (salesman) and that we would have our estimate the same day. No response, so we called again in the afternoon. The woman again said that she would email the salesman and make sure we'd receive a personal phone call. Well we have yet to receive any phone call from this company, or yet any estimate we have requested. Maybe instead of emailing an employee, that a simple phone call would be a much better solution. I was told this is the #1 general contractor in NJ. Well it seems that your customer service is lacking, and very unprofessional.

Update: After being asked to remove or update this review by the owner of the company, Joe Percario, here is our revision. After posting this original review, we were contacted to have another meeting with the owner, to go over our quote. Within seconds of his arrival, I was confronted if I was the writer of this review, and why it was posted, quoting "One bad review = 10 lost jobs for me." Then describing the job AGAIN, he suggested "installing a walk-in pantry, since we are cutting into the garage, for more room and storage, since your husband can eat a lot." To him this was a comical remark, although I myself was in absolute shock and awe of what he just said to my face. Finished the rest of the walk through, and continued into the dining room where he proceeded to finally put together our quote. In describing the quote, he suggested that "we install a heavy duty pull down staircase in the garage, that way it won't collapse while you're standing on it, or you could always go on a diet." If this is the manor that this man conducts his work, I am very surprised that he has been in business for so long. I am absolutely disgusted at this individual, and if I had not been in shock at the event, he would have been kicked immediately out of my house. I have never been so disrespected in my own home! You should be at your utmost respect while talking with a customer you would like to do business with, not degrade them in their own home. To all future customers, please beware of the individual that will be working on your home.

Good luck getting them to respond when you have a problem after the work is done! We did a large project with them a while back (replacing siding, roof and windows) and they did a decent job. But when we had a couple small problems after a few years, it's impossible to reach them, they never call back. We had to fix everything ourselves.

I am giving this company a four rating due to the harassing phone calls I have been receiving since I gave them a one. I have received two to three phone calls daily asking me to remove the one rating, however I see other one ratings and I am wondering if those people are also receiving the same harassing phone calls. I was dissatisfied with the service and not receiving a call after an estimate. They did call me to clear up the situation however I don't feel like it warrants harassing phone calls to remove one rating when there are many other low ratings. Please stop calling my phone and harassing me, our business is DONE!

I just had an old window replaced by Joe Percario. Both men who installed the window worked as a team. They worked non-stop; were meticulous ; truly professional and did a great job. I am so glad I had them install my window as opposed to Cal Decker and Son.

Had our first floor windows installed. Had some issues with scheduling installation, but the staff did all they could to make sure they kept their original install date. Windows are beautiful and definitely worth every penny. Install staff was fantastic and friendly. Will definitely continue to use Joe Percario Cont. for future home projects.

Been meaning to post a review for a while, but we have a 2-year-old, so it's tough to sit down for any amount of time! My wife and I had Percario replace our roof on a home we bought last year, and we were extremely pleased with the professionalism, efficiency and quality of their work.

We initially called to get an estimate of the age of our roof for an insurance company who requested it. It spoke volumes that Joe himself came to our house, and that he immediately pulled out a ladder and climbed onto the roof in his slacks and button-down. We weren't thrilled to find out we needed an entirely new roof, but that wasn't Joe's fault, and he told us they would also fix ventilation, siding, chimney and mold issues that we didn't even know were there. Joe was a funny guy and speaks his mind with little filter, which I enjoy and also appreciate, since I want someone to tell it like it is without glossing over anything.

John, the project manager, was no-nonsense and very accessible, and the crew did what looks like excellent work. And since the roof is guaranteed for a number of years, we know that if we have a problem going forward, we'll be able to call on them again.

Having interacted with a different roofing company in the past year and having a drastically worse experience, we wholeheartedly recommend Percario for all your roofing needs. In fact, we were so impressed that we have another project we plan to call on them for. (So expect that call soon!)

PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING CONTRACTING PER...

PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING CONTRACTING PERCARIO. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE DID.

My parents contracted Percario to renovate their kitchen, no, i'm sorry they contracted whoever Percario sub-contracts. That's how they have 4 stars on google. Because THEY don't actually do any of the work. After the job was postponed with no warning or explanation, they "started" the job by coming and going to their house with no schedule or heads up. Some days they did not show up at all. The project manager did not answer his cell phone, and the company never answered the main line unless you pressed the "Emergency Extension" in which a manager or owner was never available and the receptionist had every excuse in the book as to why no one could come to the phone.

This 3.5 week reno has now lasted 7 months. If you are still reading and still considering using this business, these are the events that transpired, in no specific order, under multiple project managers :

- Project Manager tried to get us to do more home improvements, saying he would get a bigger commission.

- INSTALLED THE FLOORING FIRST- which resulted in the floor raising and becoming unleveled. Had to REDO the flooring and order new materials and tear up the kitchen again after the project was done . We are on our second tiling which is now cracking down the middle and raising all over again.

- Cutting of tile INSIDE the house

- Never answering the phone calls or texts; never returning voicemails

- Worker brought his 15 year old son to the house

- Ordered wrong materials

- Sink fell off the back of their truck and was completely destroyed upon delivery

- Project manager fighting with my brother; saying he did not want to come to the house while he was there because he would question their non-existent work ethic/inability to show up/answer calls

- Not coordinating deliveries of materials when workers were on site

- Went into our basement and through my father s tools, used his leveler, got cement all over it, tried to put it back and hide the fact that they did this

- Ruined the floors in our dining room by using the wrong tape to cover the floor and pulling up the hardwood finish- NEVER FIXED TO THIS DAY

- When cabinets (that we were keeping) were removed they threw out the kick plates and tried to tell us that they didn t.

- Found holes in the pantry walls

- Molding was cut too short

- Back-splash grout is cracking

THE LIST GOES ON AND ON...

ALL THAT SAID, 7 months have now gone by and this project has been NOTHING but a DISASTER. The only way to get someone on the phone is to press the Emergency Client extension where Kathy tells you to contact the project manager or that no one is available. After I finally got a hold of someone, they agreed to come out to the house and take a look at everything that was going on and all the damage that they still HAVE NOT fixed. That person set a date and time to come by, did not show up, did not answer phone calls and ghosted us for 5 days. After another phone call to Kathy, Paul came to the house, promised to rectify the situation and bring Joe Percario himself to our house to see what was done and work something out. He took pictures of everything to show Joe. He said he would call me the next day to schedule this. Needless to say, that has not happened yet.

PLEASE, do yourself a favor and properly vet these companies before you sign a contract with them. Ask questions. GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING. And DO NOT use Percario unless you want poor work, no communication, a headache, and sadness.

In the spring of 2016, I met Joe to get information about a new roof I was considering because my roof was getting old and it was covered with a green moss from all the trees around my house. Joe explained the reasons and what a new roof would entail. I decided to go ahead with the project and I am glad i did. The crew lead by John was excellent. The job was done in 1 1/2 days including my detached garage and I have been very happy with the result. I would recommend Joe Percario General Contractors without any hesitation.

I just had a full bathroom remodel completed by Percario. Dave, Jim and Dom were outstanding to work with. I had a challenging timeline to work with and Percario delivered a quick turnaround with a seamless approach. They did the job right, secured the permits needed and helped provide guidance every step of the way. The finished product turned out great. Everyone who was a part of job was accessible and punctual with any and all questions/concerns. I would highly recommend using Percario for one of your projects.

I had a ton of work done including a new tri-level roof, two customs windows, new siding in areas, and work on the Patio. They weren't the cheapest (you don't want the cheapest ever or even close to it), but they did a great, PROFFESSIONAL job. On time, neat and orderly, and it's three years later and the work is holding up wonderfully. I thought I had a leak on the roof and I called them and the work manager came out, went on the roof, and turns out it was a leak from one of the windows which we didn't replace. They caulked it up for me for free even though it wasn't their responsibility and had nothing to do with the new roof they put in. It made me feel good to know my contractor is there for me. That's why I originally chose them, hoping they would be solid, and they sure were. Calling them back in the Spring to get more work done. Jersey City, NJ.

I would like to leave this review for Joe Percario General Contractor because I had a very positive experience with them. I dealt with Tom the consultant and the construction team was very clean and courteous the entire time. We did some window and door replacements and it was a hassle free experience. Good quality and worth every penny. Thank you Percario.

If I could give this company negative stars I would in a heart beat.
We contracted them to redo 2 of our bathrooms and the sales guy put us at ease. Everything went quickly downhill from there.

The project manager they assigned us didn't bother to truly listen to any of our requests and then kept arguing with us that we were the ones who didn't remember correctly. After about 4 or 5 of those arguments I kicked him out of my house. They also charged us an extra $4K for additions which we had told them about in the beginning but they basically had us cornered since they were half way through the job at that point. We then got another project manager who was much nicer but things still went wrong again and again.

The guy who they contracted to do our tiling was horrible. All the grout has completely cracked in two bathrooms. And today the cracks led to leaks in our basement.

They swept all the debris into the subfloor which eventually collapsed part of our basement ceiling.

PLEASE STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

Horrible experience... Front the very beginng to the bitter end..and at each turn of the remodel there were problems! Started with a bad estimate, then there was the "un-explained" 6-week delay in the job (shut down for not having proper permits - per Joe's workers), and then there were the disgusting subcontractors that left a mess and used my MY PERSONAL BATHROOM! Clearly, the contractors don't respect Joe Percarios's business.. After the use of the bathroom was reported....the jerks used the bathroom again and this time they didn't flush!!! (NO, I'm not kidding!!!!).

As the project drags to a close, it's clear that Joe Pecario has employees that know a little something about their craft but not a "freaking" thing about TEAMWORK or CUSTOMER SEVICE. (Joe keep him away from the customer - you know who I'm talking about).
On a positive note, the general manager stepped in and provided some customer serivice and monitored the project... But there's not much you can do to balance this chaos .

Overall, in good consciousness I would not recommend Joe Percario
But if you're up for the challenge.
1) hire your own arch architect (their plans are 1930's outdated) 2) request construction manager to visit the site before you sign anything (sales person =clueless) 3) Avoid their blame game - demand A "single" point person 4) know the payment schedule is complete fabrication- created by the sales person 5) don't trust any phrase that sounds like ... "don't worry we'll take care of it" especially when there's 3 people trying to manage the same damn job-- all of them will get amnesia (3 headed amnesia is the worst). 6) establish dates to have customer supplied materials - notoriously asked for items without the proper lead time (not getting the door I want because they didn't provide the necessay 3-4 lead time to order a front door). 7) good luck

Helped repair some storm damage, tree came down on the corner of home and crushed roof/gutter etc. Came out and advised/handled the bulk of dealing with the insurance company and used some special software to submit their estimate to them, and got us enough money to cover it entirely from insurance. Positive experience, prompt responses, I would recommend them.

We had some major construction performed and WOW it came out fantastic. It was such a pleasure to work with all the contractors and workers. Dave Hackney and Adam Friedstein supervised the crew and made sure everything was exactly what we asked for. First, we had our porch roof replaced along with a new attic fan and three bathroom vents that John Lee supervised and you couldn't have asked for a better person to work with. Then, we had two bathrooms redone with new shower tiles and floor tiles & counter tops. Next, they replaced our home siding and we couldn't be happier with how the home looks. New gutters, garage doors and (9) interior doors were installed. I believe John was the contractor for the interior doors and window and very talented. Yes, there were quite a few issues but Dave & Adam made sure everything was taken care of. The last issue is being resolved; the window we asked for was incorrect and they will be replacing the window. We couldn't have selected a better company to work with. They always notified us the days they were coming and they always communicated what was occurring. I can highly recommend Joe Percario. Thanks guys for everything!!

My husband and I can't say enough about how pleased with have been with Percario and especially our project manager who coordinated everything Dave Hackney. This was a very overwhelming project for us adding an addition for my mother and we had never done anything like this. Although Percario was not the cheapest in town, the quality was excellent and recognized by all that have visited since. Very much attention to detail and tried to work within our budget. Dave was extremely accessible to answer any of our questions.
Would highly recommend!!!!

I hired Joe Percario General Contractors to replace my roof. I was given a fair price, the work was started and completed as promised. They were neat and conscientious, taking the time to clean up. I would highly recommend them.

My experience was within 4 months of completing a portico install at my residence, the work deteriorated in that the portico is sinking. Contractor said the issue was cosmetic and after the cosmetic fix, it deteriorated again. I have a professional engineer's report stating that work required footings and that no footings are installed. Contractor claims portico is tied to home structure but engineer has confirmed that is a false statement. I would not use this Contractor again. I hope someday I can reverse this rating. If I could, I would attach pictures to this rating.

We used Joe Percario for a family room addition, and master bedroom and kitchen extension. This was a long, big project with some unanticipated problems along the way (as expected with an older home), but we were very happy with the results and the process. We had Dave Hackney as our project manager who was extremely knowledgeable, efficient, and trustworthy. He was very organized in having his subcontractors come in at the right times in the project so that there was rarely any down time in the construction. We were happy with all the subcontractors that he used and also all the Percario employees as well. They were all professional and respectful. Even after the project was finished, Percario came back to take care of some issues we had with the settling of the new construction. The office was efficient in setting up an service call appointment within a week.

I am very satisfied with this company and their work ethics. Joe Pecario's company did my garage roof in 2012 after the storm Sandy destroyed our property. Recently for the sale of our home we were told by a contractor our roof was leaking and damaged and demanded $16,000 price reduction. I called Joe because I trusted in their knowledgeable, professional and honest opinion. Joe Pecario came himself on time and climbed on my roof with an ease that was astonishing, he inspected it thoroughly as well as my attic. I must say I was relieved when he said my roof has another 10 years of life in it and no leaks. But what I was most pleased about was his professional and honest evaluation. It's very difficult to find a company with the moral and professional values Joe's company has. I have been recommending them since 2012 and will continue to do so.

Joe Percario was a pleasure to work with. Not only is his team professional, meticulous, and friendly, but they also gave us the most affordable quote on our home with the highest quality results. My husband and I recently bought a house in Somerville and without Percario s help, it wouldn t be up to our expectations. They were incredibly helpful. Percario s designed our roof, redid our floors, and finished our bathrooms all with modern and beautiful design. They have impeccable taste and craftsmanship. We trust their judgment and expertise because they have always been fair and honest with us.

TLDR; Overall the experience has been positive, bu...

TLDR; Overall the experience has been positive, but there were definitely some bumps along the way.

So, we were new to the whole home improvement game, and had no clue what we were doing at the start. We wanted to finish our basement, and we had a number in mind based on some other friends that had similar services done. We went with Joe Percario because of his BBB profile, and some of the reviews and photos we had seen of "his" work.

Step one is that they send the estimator/salesman to get a look at the proposed project space. They take measurements, and they consult their big binder. The price came back at about twice what we were expecting. Okay, so now the "downgrades" follow. Well, instead of this, we can do this...yadda yadda yadda. Okay, we finally converge, and agree (still not quite as low as we had hoped/expected, but still within reason).

Step two is that they send in the project manager, PM, (who is a JP employee). He looks over the space, takes measurements and looks at what is on the order form. It is of the UTMOST importance that you realize that the PM will do everything in their power to minimize their costs. Unless you are very specific when drawing up the contract, this can bite you in the ass. In order to keep the costs down, we had to cut off a section of the basement with a wall. They wanted to install half a wall (not putting dry wall on both sides). We eventually agreed to have them put up drywall, but not finish the other side. They wanted to not finish the closet space under the stairs, but eventually had to because the Township MADE them because of fire code violations. So, yeah, we bumped heads a few times because things were not explicitly written out in the contract. We'll know better next time. Remember, the salesman promises the world, but the PM is the one that you'll have to deal with.

For those that don't know, the PM hires other contractors to actually do the work. The only time we had JP employees was when they had to come back and do the closet under the stairs...and when we had to replace sections of the floor...more on that later.

Okay, so we get rolling, some of the electrical is done, some of the framing is done...and then we come to a standstill for over a month as we wait for the permits. The PM had promised the project would be done before Christmas, it was not. He had lied to us continuously about the state of the permits, until I actually went over and talked with the township. Eventually we got the permits, and somewhere around this time the PM was actually terminated from the company and replaced by a new guy who had to get up to speed quickly.

As for the work, the basement looked beautiful when completed. There were issues though. The hvac crew installed vents in the existing ductwork without any kind of return (my hvac guys hated what they did) and the vents break very easily. I had one replaced almost immediately, and I've been dealing with a broken one for years now. So, we were not fans of that work.

Now the biggest problem was that we put tile down directly on the concrete slab floor. Everything was wonderful until the floor started to buckle. We called JP up and complained, and they sent JP workers over to fix the buckle. Again, it looked nice, until the floor buckled again. We were told that we should never have put tile down on the floor like that as there is movement of the slab, and this kind of thing happens. The biggest problem was that they said it like WE should have known better. Eventually, they fixed the problem again (even though they kept saying they were not at fault for it). We eventually agreed that if it happens again, they would remove the tiles, and we would have to put down a floating floor instead (think Pergo). They would handle the labor, but we'd have to buy material. Luckily, the floor hasn't buckled since.

So, eventually things got taken care of, but it took some effort on our part. Remember, they are out there to make money, not be your friend.

I have had nothing but the best experience with JPGC! Initially i scheduled an appointment with one of their consultants to just try to get a general idea of what I would be getting myself into with kitchen remodel, but, their careful evaluation, product knowledge, and willingness to explain things to me no matter how many times I may have asked, I decided to go with Joe Percario GC. After deciding to go with them, I met with the consultant and project manager to make sure we were all on the same page. We went through every detail of the project which insured that the entire job would go smooth until the end. Everything was completely as I expected and I couldn't be happier with my new kitchen...will be having them come out again for my next favorite room, the master bathroom!

I was a fairly new homeowner with limited knowledge about construction and craftsmanship when my cement slab cracked and flooded the basement. I don t know what I would have done without the levelheaded, fair and informatively honest Dominic Percario.
He gives you options and then describes them in layman terms breaking down each step in the process so you can make the decision that is best for you and your home or business. His team s work is efficient, clean and well executed. I don t know where I would have been without his guidance and knowledge during the harrowing insurance process. I am grateful for Joe Percario General Contractors.

I just recently completed a major interior renovation with Percario (kitchen, bathroom, knocking down walls, a number of other plumbing, electrical, and structure components). They do it all. My wife and I are truly wowed by the final product. Great quality work, expert design advice (especially needed if you are knocking down walls), very flexible and supportive throughout the entire process. Amazing team of people there.

Overall, can't say enough good things.
