My 8yr daughter and myself went today, we always love going here, the house is just gorgeous and the grounds are so well maintained, we visited Pots of Art in the courtyard and did some Decopatch which we thoroughly enjoyed, we will be back soon

We frequently visit here as upgrading to a season pass was great value. The grounds are lovely and so well kept. The map is easy to follow despite the lack of sign posts and includes lots of really interesting facts about different key points of interest. Ideal for a quiet picnic as there is plenty of space to spread out and have your own little bit of peace and quiet away from others.

The house is easy to navigate round with lots of interesting things to look at. The staff are all very friendly, particularly one chap (I wish I got his name!) Who was superbly enthusiastic about his job and the site. He had so much knowledge about the history and current events and was great to talk to.

The restaurant is a little pricey for the inconsistency/expectancy of portion sizes between dishes, but the food is still nice. Maybe just bring a picnic if you're on a budget. Overall, I love visiting here and will be back before long no doubt.

I don't usually write reviews but felt I really needed to do this one. I visited Hatfield House yesterday with my mother, I cannot praise the staff enough. My mother walks with a stick and being 83 is a bit slow !! We were given parking near the house a buggy took us to the ticket office, to the house, back for a coffee then back to our car. I would 100% recommend Hatfield House to young and old, we had a lovely day.

Today we unfortunately visited the Toy Shop in Hatfield House. My eldest son was looking at a skeleton toy(which had been taken out of its box by someone else before we arrived) and my youngest son had picked up one of the toys in its box and put it on the floor (he is only 24 months old). A blonde, extremely strict member of staff told us to leave the shop because of our 'behaviour' and also asked if we were stealing anything as we walked out. My friend who was queuing to pay for toys during this time was then asked, by the same woman, if she had paid for the items as she was leaving the shop. This was supposed to be a toy shop for children but the woman made it quite clear touching any of the toys was forbidden. I'm 41 and this is the first time iI have ever been thrown out of anywhere. We went to the farm and park today and were plannng to come back and visit the house but I am relucant to visit anywhere which is so intolerant of children.

Hatfield House Old Palace Wedding Venue Review

Hatfield House Old Palace Wedding Venue Review

We recently got married at the Old Palace. After searching for the perfect venue we decided on HH. Beautiful architecture and grounds, steeped in atmosphere and, of course, history.

I wanted to express our appreciation of the standards and service we enjoyed. The food and its presentation were superb, the environment was splendid and further complimented by the excellent service from the staff. All in all an absolutely unforgettable day - with some marvelous photos.

Not forgetting the sensational The Bears band who were four lovely guys, based just around the corner and were the cherry on top of a crazy evening of gaiety and dancing.

Well done everybody

Excellent location overseeing beautiful fields! Lovely beer garden well kept. Fast and friendly service. My only complaint is that there was only one type of cask ale, Tribute. On a hot day, my case, i would have loved an IPA. Only food i ate was pizza which was delicious. I highly recommend it!

AWFUL VISITOR EXPERIENCE, EXTORTIONATE AND NO FOOD OR DRINK AVAILABLE

Visited on the 6 April - first day of the new season - after seeing promotion of Easter events, family activities and additional entertainment. On arrival we were ushered through the car park which had been cordoned off for wedding guests to park in fields over 10 minutes walk from the main grounds unprepared for additional parking, and were left to navigate cars and children around rusting miniature railway parts and building/farm materials. Minimal signage and staffing did not help us navigate our way there or back to the main entrance.

The booth near the farm had no working card machine and no working coffee machine, which meant no hot drinks. On the first day of opening and on a chilly day this is a missed opportunity. The booth is also not wheelchair friendly and another visitor was overlooked whilst we were waiting.

There was a Meet the Lambs pen on arrival at the main courtyard, which was sweet but a little disconcerting to see a little black lamb being picked up by the young handler and then dropped head first onto the cobbled floors. There didn't appear to be handwashing facilities apart from the normal toilets in the courtyard.

The family activities were all located in the Riding School, which was a free for all, completely disorganised and overwhelmed when we arrived, and no designated buggy parking making it an obstacle course both in and outside of the venue.

Outside the restaurant, more savvy visitors were using tables to eat their packed lunch in the cold whilst listening to the poor musicians freezing their bums off for their art/fashion. Sadly one musician made it to the cafe too late with his food voucher and had no sandwich left to exchange for it.

The whole day reeked of teething problems of an unestablished venue, but given that Hatfield House has been open to the public for years and charges an absolute fortune, it was one of the worst visitor experiences I have ever had.

Lovely day out- took the tour around the old Palace with an extremely knowledgeable tour guide who made it both educational and interesting. The gardens and main house were beautiful and very well kept. All staff members we met were very welcoming and friendly. Thank you for a lovely day!

Great dog walk but.....
Bought tickets went through the wooden gate and couldn't see or find the coloured coded signage for the 3 different walks, so just plodded over the fields for a ramble and made up our own route...
Walking signs are non existent. We met 5 other groups and all said the same. We found a random sign on the way back about 700 yards from the entrance....!
Dog bins? Can you please add some. 2 hour walk carrying poo isnt acceptable!
Please put signs where you purchase tickets.
If you purchase a ticket you can return to just walk your dog but you cant walk in the gardens if youre on your own...so.....

Can you just do a park ticket?

Pathetic and disgusting... The staff probably do just as they are told, but after five times trying to get a resident pass, they will still come up with another excuse... Never seen anything like this nowhere... Please, do not waste your valuable time with these gypsies... Not worthy

Beautiful house and gardens. Can easily spend half the day exploring the gardens. The only thing they got wrong is that monstrosity of a metal fountain in front of it the house however - a big eyesore which I tried to avoid in my photos...

We went today with our 2 year old and 3 week old. Our 2 year old loved going round the farm - plenty to see and lots of space to run around. There's a train there too and a tractor side which she loved. There's a play park there but we didn't have enough time to go there this morning. We had a little lunch in the deli and the grounds are just beautiful. There's so much more to do there but we only spent the morning there.

Lovely place to have a Xmas party in the old riding school. It has 2 floors, ground floor plus upper balcony floor with all the old solid wooden beams.

Lovely wedding venue. Beautiful and very warm inside even though it was freezing outside. Food was amazing. Staff were really helpful and very polite. Couldn't do enough to help you.
Only thing to let it down was the disabled toilet was disgusting. We asked for it to be cleaned as it was so bad but no one cleaned it. A great shame as everything else was perfect.

Had coffee and cake at the Riverside Deli in The Stables. Excellent carrot cake muffin and polenta cake but the coffecake was a bit too stodgy for our taste. Delightful surroundings and the Stanley and houses some very interesting shops. We More

I took my wife who has disability's to Hatfield House recently and was very pleased with the way that all staff looked after us. They were very helpful inside the house and also outside, the buggy ride was especially handy and the driver ( Clive ?) explained the history as we went along.

I visited the Art in Clay event which was held in the grounds of Hatfield House which was brilliant and inspiring. The signposting from the front gates was good and well- organised. There are plenty of events throughout the opening season and are easily accessed by car, public transport or on foot from many local areas.
