Beautiful scenery and lots of parking and very good hot chocolate! Only complaint is that you are not allowed to walk a bike through the gardens even if you don't ride it so as long as you have a lock or take a car you will be fine.

Nice Christmas meal at the old palace but a nightmare to find the right entrance and no instructions given when booking. Also a long walk in the dark and rain in our finery and high heels to the main entrance of the event. Plus lots of More

Nice bit of history here and a good place for the kids. The Cafe is a bit expensive but you don't get your normal Hatfield chavs because you have to pay to get in. I also saw the ginger bird off holby city

It is a shame for me to visit this place so late. I missed this beautiful place 10years ago when I was study in Uni Hertfordshire.
I pay visit to this place after graduated for years, I was been shocked by the beauty of this estate.

A lovely house to visit, the forest walks are a great touch (and not much travelled, so can be away from the crowd, while still not going too far), the gardens have quite a bit of variety and many hidden places. Getting the ticket once also allows one to return to the grounds & garden (not the house though) as many times in a season as they like.

I loved Hatfield House, a beautiful building with very knowledgeable guides in every room who bring the building alive. Unfortunately for us, the weather wasn't kind so we couldn't visit the garden, I would definatley recommend a visit

Lovely house with large grounds. Quite expensive compared to other stately homes and lots of extras to pay for. Quite a lot of potentially interesting bits closed off which is a bit of a disappointment.

This is a very picturesque location. Perfect lawns, beautiful structures...a lovely courtyard if you want to stay outdoors. Really lovely for photos. Sadly I went there on a very hot day so, it was sweltering inside. There is no air conditioning. The courtyard was right beside the hall so I could still hear music and not faint from the heat inside. I believe if the provider caters for your event, you do not have to pay for the venue. Don't quote me but I think the cost for using the venue is included in the meal. All below 80 pounds! However please confirm this to be on the safe side

Fantastic day at Hatfield house and grounds. It was raining but it didn't dampen our enjoyment. So much money had been spent on updating all public areas. Beautiful houses old and even older. Cafe has fantastic food. Shops are unique . Will be returning soon with our mums.

The two stars are for the river cottage restaurant which is very disappointing. The menu is limited and expensive. My son had Ragu which was a small portion of very salty meat on macaroni. His side of broccoli was very unchild friendly - huge hard pieces of chargrilled broccoli were not popular.

However, the park and grounds are lovely. We also enjoy visiting the farm - although this is really a morning or afternoon activity as there isn't much to see but it is fun to feed the goats.

Very disappointed. Several friends and I, paid to get into the house and were shocked to find that they won't let you play rugby in any of the rooms! When we tried, the staff became very aggressive. I was so upset that i ended up punching an elderly lady. Then they had the cheek to call the police on me! Unbelievable.

Beautiful, classic parkland to explore down to the river. A gorgeous house with formal gardens which I'll have to go back to another time. The stable area with little independent shops (art workshops, gifts and jewellery etc) is lovely. The coffee shop was lovely when I went a year or so ago but seemed a bit empty yesterday. Not sure why, still a lovely place to sit and chatter. Beautiful place for a walk.

Despite living locally for a good few years, I only managed a visit to Hatfield House for the first time last month. Admission pricey but a ticket gets you into the house once but once stamped at the ticket booth, allows entrance to the grounds for a year. The house is absolutely stunning and the history is quite incredible. There are guides in most of the areas of the house and were always very helpful with additional information. Unfortunately, it wasn't the best weather on the day I visited so will be exploring the grounds properly when the sun is here. Definitely looks ideal for summer picnics and the like...

Why do I have to pay to visit a park?!
This place is also outrageously expensive, if you'd like to go somewhere pretty, scenic and quite I'd advise Northaw Great Wood instead, it's free and beautiful.

Lovely place to visit, grounds are extensive and beautiful. The house was very interesting. Disappointed with the Kitchen restaurant, it had an out of control wasp problem and the food was not as nice as expected for the price.

Very interesting house with knowledgeable guides. A pity we couldn't visit the old house as it was closed for a wedding. The River Cottage restaurant was a big disappointment. Very slow service & when the main course eventually arrived it was the size of a starter. Poor value.

Attend Folk by the Oak, which is an amazing festival.

The only drawback is clearing the car park at the end of the night which is a complete nightmare! They really need to sort out the stewarding for this so that it flows much better. Can end up waiting for nearly an hour to get off the grounds!
