This is a great little state park. It has water access to go swimming, a very nice, well-kept pool for those who don't like lake swimming, several walking paths that are short but entertaining, and friendly employees!

Button Bay State Park is an amazing piece of heaven tucked on the Shore of Lake Champlain. This versatile park has summer camps for kids, tent and camper camping and a pool and playground. The camping is spacious and located very close to beautiful views of lake champlain. The pool is perfect for family day trips or a weekend get away. With a short slide for older kids and a zero entry shadow side for younger kids our 1 year old loves the pool. The playground is one of the bigger in the state with climbing elements and slides. If you are interested in exploring the park has a trail that leads to a point and nature center. The path is crushed stone so can be accessed by strollers. Over all this park is one to explore. The daily use is $4 per adult and $2 per child. Well worth it!

Staying at nearby at beautiful River s Edge cottages I hopped on my bike to take a ride around the area and came to Button Bay... I can t say how it is beyond the front gate because as I pedaled up I was greeted by a young woman who was apparently enjoying the power of her position as gate keeper. I explained I was on vacation nearby and came upon the park while on my bike ride. She told me that it would cost $4 to pass through the gate. Not anticipating the need for cash on my ride and not thinking a person on a bicycle would have to pay to ride within the park I asked if I could ride the short distance to the water to take a peek and was told that the view was beautiful but I would need to turn my bike around and keep on going. Seriously rude and nasty but said with a big smile. Big fish in a little pond... lol!

Post note: returned to the park with my $4 a couple of days later. Very nice and well kept. Big fish was right ... views are beautiful

Beautiful walk out to a rock point on the lake. Large pavilion w plenty of parking for our event. Pool, playground. No lake swimming, must drive (nearby) to launch a boat. Nice Lake Champlain and Adirondack views. Close to restaurants and shopping in Vergennes. Lake breezes kept us cool.

Just took a walk there in the off season. It's a nice park to take a 2 mile walk at and the see Lake Champlain. Parking is very limited in the off season, mostly just along the road on the grass.

Great place to take the family. The pool has a slide that the kids live. Life guards on duty when the pool is open. Only a little over 4 feet at the deep end so easy to keep track of the little ones.

Play ground is a big draw for the kids too. Camping if you want to vacation there, right on Lake Champlain. Big shelter with grills and picnic tables for reunions or parties

Super beautiful park fairly abandoned because of Covid. Trails well maintained, and great picnic areas. Pavilion stripped of all but 2 picnic tables to maintain social distancing. Nature museum and swimming pool closed for the season but basketball courts and playground open. Be sure to wash hands before and after playing. Known turtle nesting site, few bugs, and beautiful views. Lake swimming is open but "at your own risk". The sign said we were supposed to pay to enter but we weren't sure where. There was no one on duty and no box. We were only here for an evening stroll but can't wait to bring the kids back for a swim!

Great location on the shores of Lake Champlain. The trail to button point and the nature center is very nice. But, one thing to keep in mind for this park in particular is the pool capacity and life guard staffing. We recently camped here and it was hot and muggy, and the pool was understaffed and there was a waiting line to get into the pool. Day use people were still allowed to come in at least for portions of the day which meant some campers had to wait to use the pool. And, there was an accident in the pool which caused another 24-hr closure. Just be aware the pool might be full and/or closed during hot spells and come prepared with inflatable pools or squirt guns just in case.

The play equipment is very unsafe and breaking or heavily rusted in some places. the small play structure with the slide and monkey bar in the 3rd campsite has broken wooden planks. The large play structure near the pavilion should not be played on at all but if you do try not to have anyone more than 35ilbs out of fear for break the rest of the way untill the broken parts are fixed. This was not noticed 10-15 years ago during my last visits. Everything else was perfect and beautiful. Besides fire works being set off very early in the morning (rude campers)

My family and I go here a couple of times a year it's a great place to camp and relax they have cabins if your more into that and between a beautiful Lake champlain view and a pool with a water slide and a great set of playgrounds it's one of the best getaways we go to. This park seems generally clean, welcoming, and well managed. Staff are friendly. For day use there are spots for fishing and boating, and a playground and pool (call ahead to confirm it is open). Also a nice (but small) nature center, and a pavilion for shelter in case of rain. Camping here is varied, but generally consists of open tent sites--unless you've reserved a lean-to or cabin many months in advance. Worth a visit!

The pool is great for small kids with almost a beach like graduated slope and small fountain to splash in. The water slide is small but perfect for older kids. We hiked out to the point with a 5 year old and 3 year old and they had a great time crawling on the rocks and dipping their toes in the water. One of vermont's best parks.

Love it here. There's a great playground for the kids and the pool is very popular. There are grills for use with charcoal and picnic tables. The park is big enough that if you want to be alone you can be. There's also camping here. Whether for a day trip or a camping trip you'll be glad you chose Button Bay.

Button Bay State Park is part of the VT State Park...

Button Bay State Park is part of the VT State Park system. Located on Lake Champlain in Vergennes, it is a short drive from Route 7.

The park can accommodate RVs and tents, and also has lean-to s and cabins. All sites and structures are clean and well maintained. The central area of the park is open ground and provides RV sites for larger units, and also has a few prime sites offering a fantastic view of Lake Champlain. Smaller RV and tent sites in the wooded area provide privacy. Roads are paved and allow for comfortable walking and biking.

Although there is no power at any site, generators are allowed to run at specific times of the day. Potable water is available, and an RV waste dump is located in the central RV area as well (across from the bathroom and showers). Campfires are allowed and split wood can be purchased on the way into the park (please don t bring wood from out-of-state).

A small beach is accessible from the park and provides opportunities for swimming, kayaking, etc. A boat launch area is adjacent to the park for larger boats.

My family has been coming here for years and it is one of our favorite places. Ample spots to settle down for a picnic with a view of the lake. Lots of picnic tables as well as grills are available. There is a great walking trail out to another point with a great view. A playground for the kids and a pool for the family is also there. Campsites for tents and small RVs available, but no full hookups.

Clean quiet and family camping. 20 a night for an out of state tent site. No hook up but sweet sites some with water views. Kayak and canoe access is tough cause the lake is low. Use the boat launch. Quarter mile to the south... or have on a good pair of mud shoes. .. looks like a few sites could accommodate a big rig. We are in a 25 ft moterhome about found many sites to choose from. Pay showers... clean but older bathrooms.

Two reasons to come here.

Two reasons to come here.
1. Sweet relax wedding - this is an excellent deal. Beautiful setting.

2. Camping - very beautiful views, basic facilities plus great pool for the kiddos.

Swimming in the lake is not great here. The swimming area is shallow and weedy. There are better parks to go to for this. Bring water shoes.

Spacious and clean. I think there is a place to swim in the lake, but I didn't find it as you may need to walk a bit down a trail on the shoreline. Water access in front of the park is swampy so dogs won't mind that. There is a pool thought so that's something.

My husband and I stayed here August 5-7, 2017. It was a really nice and clean. Yes you do have to pay for showers but that's not that big of a deal. If you don't want to pay, don't shower! During the day it is pretty busy due to it also being a go to place for day trippers so don't plan on using the pool. But we would stay again but probably in a different site. We were in a pretty open area and when we rode our bikes around we saw nicer sites nestled more into some wooded areas so I would probably choose one of those sites next time. But well maintained and a nice place to make memories.

Had a great week of vacation here. We got a lean-to site and it rained at least once a day,we set up our tents inside the lean-to and everything stayed dry. The kids loved the pool and nature center. The trails and the point were nice. Caught some small mouth bass off shore on the point. The price was good, only $115 for 4 nights.

Button Bay is a great park. My most recent trip was on 4th of July weekend. It was as busy as you'd expect a holiday weekend to be and we were pleasantly surprised that it didn't feel or sound hectic and crowded. The sites are well spaced out.

So this is a nice place I imagine if you don t book when the surrounding farm fields are being manured. The beach access is great if the path to the beach is maintained. Also don t book here if you like trees around your campsite (if you re all about field camping it s awesome). There is a nearby airport which allows you a great view (and audio experience) of small single prop planes all day as an added bonus. Not for those who want woods and distance from humans. Amazing cricket chorus at night (one of the best parts of sleeping in a field). Bring your own shade since there are no trees where camping happens.

we had a great time camping here for the first time. in the future we'll know which campsites are more private, but this was a nice first experience with a water view. our border collie had a blast swimming in the lake. we only wish there were more hiking opportunities at this park!

We had a great time strolling through the park. Nice views and picknick areas overlooking the bay. One of the few sites we have not camped in in Vermont, but plan to bring friends and spend a few days camping, hiking, and biking around the park.
